BOB KRAYNIK

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Bob Kraynik, 52, of Fayetteville, Ark., went home to his Lord on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Fayetteville.

He was born July 8, 1952, in Philadelphia to John and Mary Willoughby Kraynik. A loving husband, devoted father, coach, military leader and teacher, friend and community member, Bob touched countless lives and will be sorely missed.

This man had many gifts, but having a humble servant's heart was truly one of his most admirable qualities. He invested his time in people and in service to others, taking joy in mowing the church grounds, teaching physical education at Vandergriff, decorating his home for Christmas and Halloween, attending the sporting events of his students and friends, driving carpools, teaching junior high Sunday school and providing gifts with a generous heart. He was already making plans for costuming himself on Halloween and topping the year he'd wowed neighborhood children and friends by dressing up as Sulley, the huge blue monster from "Monsters Inc." He was an encourager and his daughters' biggest fan as they pursued their talents in academics, gymnastics, soccer and cheerleading. Bob was a second father to many of their daughters' friends.

Bob started his career in the Air Force after going through the ROTC at the University of Arkansas and graduating in 1974. Toward the end of his career, he excitedly returned to the university to be a professor of military science. In his military career, he spent time at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Dyers Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, Elmendorff Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, and Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. Bob retired as a colonel in the Air Force and his family and friends were very proud of this accomplishment.

This true gentleman loved his wife, Bobbye Kraynik, and treated her with utmost respect. Their marriage partnership was out of the ordinary and a testimony to many. The two were truly best friends. He is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Jordan and Kelsey Kraynik, both of the home in Fayetteville, Ark. Bob leaves behind his two brothers, Joe Kraynik of Auburn, Calif., and John Kraynik of Charlotte, N.C.; and his parents, John and Mary Kraynik of Sumter.

A big man of stature, but even grander in the size of his heart, Bob could be remembered by these verses from God's Word: "Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58b and "A righteous man will be remembered forever." Psalm 112:6b.

Memorial services honoring his life will be held at 4 p.m. today at Grace Church, Highway 45 East, Fayetteville, with Pastor Don Carter officiating.

The family of Mr. Bob Kraynik received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory.

Friends may sign the online guest book at www.nelsonberna.com.

Arrangements are by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial gifts may be made to Grace Church of Northwest Arkansas, 6644 E. Mission Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72703 or to The Kraynik Girls' Education Account at Arvest.
