LOUISE G. DICKERSON

Louise Gooden Dickerson, 89, widow of Nathaniel Dickerson, died Oct. 10, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born April 23, 1915, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Estella Lang Gooden.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jean Conyers, 20 Walker Ave., Sumter, SC 29150.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

CONRAD W. SANDERS

CHARLESTON -- Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of Oct. 11, 2004, Conrad Wienges Sanders, husband of Melle Pringle Sanders. He was a resident of Greenville.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Wienges Sanders are invited to attend the funeral services of the former at the graveside at Concord Presbyterian Church cemetery, Sumter, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Sanders was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Columbia, the son of Conrad Wienges Sanders and Hilmer Behling Sanders. He attended the College of Charleston. He retired as a sales representative with Dealer Supply and Lumber Co. Mr. Sanders was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Greenville.

He is survived by his wife of Greenville; three sons, Edward Judson Sanders of Mauldin, Richard Pringle Sanders of High Point, N.C., and Samuel LaRoche Sanders of Greer; one sister, Sarah Sanders Roberts of Charleston; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Dr. Conrad Wienges Sanders Jr.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 910 Hudson Road, P.O. Box 25817, Greenville, SC 29616 or American Heart Association of S.C., 310 Bennett Center Drive, Greer, SC 29650.

FRANK WELLS Jr.

Frank "Boy" Wells Jr., 65, husband of Lillie Mae Mahoney Wells, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 13, 1938, in Lee County, he was a son of the late Frank Wells Sr. and Addie Sue McDonald Wells.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 3825 Mahoney Lane, Dalzell, SC 29040.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

PRESTON JOSEY

BISHOPVILLE -- Preston Josey died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

He was a brother of English Josey of Bishopville.

The family will receive friends at the home, 28 Colonial Drive, Columbia.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Boatwright Funeral Home of Bishopville.

ROSA LEE B. DUKES

Mrs. Rosa Lee Ballard Dukes, of 1056 Old Pocalla Road, died Sunday at Cooke Associates of Florence.

The family is receiving friends at the home, 1056 Old Pocalla Road.

Plans will be announced by Community Funeral Home of Sumter.

EDITH S. PEARSON

BENNETTSVILLE -- Services for Mrs. Edith S. Driggers Pearson, 82, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Whitner-Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, 308 W. Main, Bennettsville, SC 29512 or the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 311, Columbia, SC 29204.

Mrs. Pearson died Monday. Born in Loris, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Tempie Mishoe Stevens. She was a retired cosmetologist and was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. She was first married to the late J.T. Driggers Sr.

Surviving are her husband, Henry F. Pearson of Bennettsville; a son, James T. Driggers Jr. (Susan) of Sumter; sisters, Delano Todd of Loris and Leila McLain of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Michael Driggers of Spartanburg, Melissa D. Lundsford of Anderson and Tara Davis of Sumter; a great-granddaughter, Breanna Lundsford of Anderson; and stepchildren, Kenneth Pearson and Linda Henshaw.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Burvie, James, Elmer Lane and Paul Stevens of Loris and Lacy Stevens of Myrtle Beach.

JOSEPHINE G. HANNA

SCRANTON -- Mrs. Josephine Gaskins Hanna, 71, widow of Samuel "Moose" Hanna, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the residence.

She was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Florence County.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 1875 N. Old Georgetown Road, Scranton, SC 29591.

Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home of Lake City.

IVORY J. COUSAR

WEDGEFIELD -- Ivory Jean Cousar, 45, died Oct. 12, 2004, at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Columbia.

Born July 19, 1959, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Rosa Lee Sanders Cousar and the late Elijah Cousar Sr.

The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, Rosa Lee S. Cousar, 518 Dicks St., Sumter.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

MATTIE NELSON

LAKE CITY -- Mrs. Mattie Nelson, 100, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.

She was born Dec. 22, 1903.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 110 Buff Road, Lake City, SC 29560.

Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home of Lake City.

OTTIS M. JONES

Ottis Murdic Jones, 85, of Bonneau Beach, a retired iron worker rigger with Westvaco, died Saturday at a Charleston hospital.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Bonneau. Burial, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Bishopville, a son of Ottis Marvin Jones and Ethel Jones Boykin. He was a dedicated member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Bonneau, where he was the founder of the Keen Club. He was a former Sunday school teacher at Cooper River Baptist Church, where he taught the boy's class. He was a mason and member of the Hammerton Lodge in North Charleston. He was employed by the Charleston Naval Shipyard and then by the Charleston Pulp and Paper Mill (Westvaco), where he retired. He was loved dearly and respected by his wife, family, friends and community.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ruth Hilton Jones of Bonneau Beach; four daughters, Deborah J. Jernigan of Goose Creek, Rosalind J. Holmes of St. Stephen, Joyce J. Creamer of Anderson and the Rev. Nannette J. Davis of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons, Murdic H. Jones of Bonneau and Robert O. Jones of Upper Falls, Md.; five sisters, Evelyn Jones Rembert, Oree Boykin McCleod, Barbara Boykin Ardis, Julie Boykin Gardener, all of Sumter, Mildred Boykin Roberts of Charleston; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Boykin and Roland Boykin Jr.

AZALEE B. HILTON

TAMPA, Fla. -- Azalee Brunson Hilton, 77, widow of Isaac "Ike" Hilton, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the residence of her nephew, James and Lillian Brunson, 303 E. Frinces Ave., Tampa.

Born Aug. 20, 1927, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Rannie Brunson Sr. and Victoria Gordon Brunson.

The family will receive friends at her residence, 601 Peterson Lane, Manning, beginning Friday.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

JERVEY BROWN Jr.

Jervey "J.T." Brown Jr., 76, husband of Hattie Mae Chestnut Brown, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia.

Born Oct. 27, 1927, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Jervey Brown Sr. and Adline Nelson Brown. He was educated at Good Hope School in Sumter County. "J.T.," as he was affectionately called, was a farmer. He was also employed with Eastern Brick Inc. and retired from Sumter Wood Preserve Co.

Survivors besides his wife of 54 loving years include one son, Leo (Lorraine) Chestnut; seven daughters, Patricia Parker, Catherine Glisson, Juanita Rouse, Doris (Jerome) Gainey, Joan (Micheal) Fullard, Master Sgt. Loretta Brown and Patricia Jackson; three brothers, Samuel (Joan) Brown, James (Blossom) Brown and Ernest (Altheia) Brown; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six children, John Thomas, Charles Edward, Micheal Anthony, James Edward, Clay and Jacob Earthly Brown; four brothers, Silas, Thomas, Harry and Marion Brown; two sisters, Elouise Brown and Dorothy Rutledge; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday from Clark's United Methodist Church, U.S. 401, Sumter, with the Rev. Eddie C. Thomas Jr., pastor, eulogist. Burial will be in Clark's United Methodist Church cemetery, Sumter.

Pallbearers will be United Methodist Men.

Floral bearers will be United Methodist Women.

The procession will leave at 1:50 p.m. from his home, 154 Keels Road.

The family will receive friends at his home, 154 Keels Road.

Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

LOUISE G. DICKERSON

Louise Gooden Dickerson, 89, widow of Nathaniel Dickerson Sr., died Oct. 10, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born April 27, 1915, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Lee Gooden Sr. and Estella Lang Gooden. Mrs. Dickerson was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. An active member of New Hope AME Church, she served as a stewardess, missionary, mother of the church and member of the Burial Aid, until her health failed. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Albertis (Virginia) Dickerson of Columbia and Aaron (Pauline) Dickerson of New York City; four daughters, Maggie (Ulysses) Stephens, Ella White and Jean Conyers, all of Sumter, and Esther (Albertus) Cocklin of Columbia; one sister, Rosa Lee Shannon of Wilmington, N.C.; one brother, Lee (Eloise) Gooden Jr. of Pinewood; 46 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Douglas Logan of Paterson, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Helen Lee Dickerson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Nathaniel Jr., Sam and Jimmy Dickerson; one daughter, Frances Dickerson; two sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at New Hope AME Church, Pinewood, with the Rev. J.D. Seawright, pastor, assisted by the Revs. Alonzo Ward, Jack Dais and W.E. Hatcher. Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Jean Conyers, 20 Walker Ave., Sumter, SC 29150.

Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.
