EARL FARMER
Earl Farmer, 79, husband of the late Vergie E. Horne Farmer, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Dorn VA Medical Center.
Born May 27, 1925, in Laurinburg, N.C., he was the son of the late Irvin Farmer and the late Nora Gaddy Farmer.
Mr. Farmer was a retired union worker and a member of the local D.A.V.
Surviving are his three children, Barbara Farmer of West Columbia, Eddie Farmer and Ervin Farmer both of Sumter; one sister Dorothy Cottingham of Dillon; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.

Blanche Amerson, 95, widow of Walter Amerson, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at a local nursing center. Services will be announced by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter.
KATHERINE McLEOD
Katherine "Kitty" Clark Chewning McLeod, 75, wife of the late Lee McLeod, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 9, 1929, in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Leland F. and Alma Felder Chewning and Walter M. Clark and Agnes Felder Clark.
Mrs. McLeod was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
Surviving are four children, Aggie Newman, Cliff McLeod, Russell C. McLeod (Carolyn), all of Sumter, and Troy A. McLeod (Joni) of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Margaret Way of Santee, Mary Harelson and Virginia Deas of Sumter; one brother, Rhinehart Chewning of Holly Hill; nine grandchildren, Kathy Barwick, Shannon (Jackie) Barwick, Kasey Newman, Lee and Charley McLeod, Heather and Amber McLeod, Gracie and Alan McLeod; two great-grandchildren, Ann Bethea and Rollin Barwick.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Wactor and two brothers, W.M. Clark and Felder Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Bordeaux and Daniel B. Settle officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

SHARON ROBERSON
Sharon Kay Bell Stout Roberson, age 58, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Hoopeston, Ill., a daughter of the late Archie Benton and Clara Ann Hinton Bell. She graduated from Central Carolina Technical College nursing program with the highest honors. She previously worked for Tuomey hospital and Internal Medical Associates PA. She was presently employed as a nurse at National Healthcare. She was a loving mother and "Nana" who loved life and her family and nursing. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are one son, Jeffery W. Stout and his wife, Tammy, of Dalzell; two daughters, Julie Stout Hair and her husband, Ricky, of Pinewood and Stephanie Stout Coker and her husband, Vann, of Alcolu; five brothers, Marion Bell, Larry Bell and Gary Bell, all of Hoopeston, Terry Bell of Henning, Ill., and Robert Bell of Wheaton, Mo.; one sister, Shirley Bell Malott of Rensselare, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Eric Stout, Desere Stout, Chris Johnson, Tonya Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Angel Hair, Bella Hair, Ryan Coker and Alaina Coker.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Archie Bell Jr. and Eugene Bell; and one sister, Edit Bell Sprague.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gross, Phil Williams, Kyle Malott, Ryan Coker, Chris Johnson and Eric Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Philip Brandt, Dr. Neal Christiansen and Dr. William M. Butler.

Born in Williamsburg County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Conyers Holliday and the late Lula Idele Harrington Holliday. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include four nieces, Betty Jones of Summerville, Dorothy Brown of Sumter, Sheree Povich of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Sheila Cote of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four nephews, Art Baker of Columbia, George Baker of Greenville, Bobby Baker and Charles "Sonny" Holliday, both of Sumter; and other special family members, John and Christine Johnson and family, and Lu Dunlap, all of Sumter.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Cote, Sarah Adele Baker, and Elizabeth Tallman; and a brother, Sammy Holliday.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with Dr. James Chandler officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

THELMA PIERCE BRUNSON
Thelma Pierce Brunson, 86, wife of the late Bernie Ryan Brunson, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born June 13, 1918, in Chinquapin, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Corbett Thomas Pierce and the late Rosa Thelma Wood.
Mrs. Brunson was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of the Iris Chapter 149 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Brunson was retired from Tuomey Healthcare System.
Surviving are her three children, Rosa Geraldine "Gerry" Brunson of Sumter, Harold Ryan Brunson and wife Effie of Saugus, Calif., and Donald Pierce Brunson and wife Janice of Sumter; two sisters, Hazel P. Taylor of Jacksonville, N.C., and Sallie B. Snider of Columbia; one brother, Gene A. Pierce of Chinquapin; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Brunson.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Brunson cemetery.

ASHWOOD -- Louise Holloman Marsh, 85, widow of Claude G. Marsh, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at her home.
Born Jan. 28, 1919, in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. Holloman and the late Effie Nesbitt Holloman.
She was a member of Ashwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Claude Wayne Marsh and his wife, Karen, of Florence; a daughter, Patricia M. Brunson of Ashwood; one granddaughter, Teresa D. Brunson of Sumter; two sisters, Ruth Hudson of Columbia and Blanche Kimmerlin of Ashwood; four sisters-in-law, MaeNell Barfield and Susie Marsh, both of Camden, Rosa Hopkins of the Cedar Creek community and Betty Cook of Dalzell; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Barbara Cramer.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Brunson, and four brothers, Willard, Harvey, Clifford and Eldridge Holloman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ashwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Luke Harris officiating.

MABLE ETHEL PEARSON
Mable Ethel Pearson, 87, wife of Jasper Pearson of 51 years, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Sumter County, the daughter of the late Hayes Peterson and Alice Peterson.
She attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School. She also completed cosmetology school in Virginia. After marrying Jasper Pearson in 1953, they migrated to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mable returned home to Sumter in 1972 and renewed her membership at First Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Gospel Choir, Missionary Society, Vacation Bible School and Sunday school.
Survivors besides her husband include two daughters, Jacqueline Shumake (Michael Dubose) of Atlanta and Maxine Ruff (Ruben) of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Alfred Manley Peterson (Estella) of Darlington; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, 219 S. Washington St. The Rev. Dr. W.S. Randolph, pastor and eulogist, will be assisted by the Rev. Frank Williams Jr.
Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park in Sumter.
Pallbearers and floral bearers will be friends of the family.
The procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from her home, 41 E. College St., Sumter.
