JAMES W. BRUNSON

ALCOLU -- James Wesly Brunson, 76, husband of Ann Lumpkin Brunson, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.

Born May 6, 1928, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harry S. Brunson Sr. and the late Sarah Jeanette Pringle Brunson. He was first married to the late Lois Hodge Brunson and then to the late Jackie Wylie Brunson. He was retired from Manning Tractor Co. after 40 years, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Williams-Burgess Post No. 68, VFW, and a member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Alcolu.

Surviving besides his wife of Alcolu are a son, Mark Alan Brunson of Alcolu; a daughter, Sandra B. (Hank) Edens of Dalzell; daughter-in-law, Kathy R. Brunson of Alcolu; two stepdaughters, Vicki (Drew) Lofton of Myrtle Beach and Linda (David) Neely of New Port Richey, Fla.; two stepsons, Charles (Patti) Wylie of West Virginia and Plowden Nelson of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Harry S. Brunson Jr., of Sumter; two sisters, Carolyn B. Haley and Sarah R. Brewer, both of Sumter; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wesley Brunson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in New Harmony Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John R. Dodd officiating. Burial will follow in Brunson cemetery in Sumter County.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence, 9714 U.S. 301, Alcolu.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Midstate S.C. Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202-7044 or to a charity of one's choice.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

JANNIE WESTON

Jannie Weston entered eternal rest at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Nov. 18, 2004.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 332 Love St.

Community Funeral Home of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

ASHWELL MCFADDEN

Ashwell "Skebo" Mcfadden, age 62, died Nov. 18, 2004, at his residence, 556 S. Main St.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of Veara and the late Eugene Mcfadden.

The family will receive friends at the home, 556 S. Main St.

Funeral services are incomplete but will be announced later by Sumter Funeral Services Inc.

BOYD M. HAYES

ASHWOOD -- Boyd McIver "Mack" Hayes, 57, husband of Julia W. Hayes, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

Born in Lee County, he was the son of Lucille Wallace Hayes and the late Robert L. Hayes. He was retired from Wateree Correctional Institute.

Survivors besides his wife and mother, both of Ashwood, include a son, Michael A. Hayes of Ashwood; seven brothers, James E. Hayes and Charles H. Hayes, both of Bishopville, Ralph Hayes and Douglas H. Hayes, both of Ashwood, Bobby G. Hayes of Lugoff, Randy Hayes of Sumter, and Jerry Hayes of Columbia; and two sisters, Cathy Holloman and Dorothy Ann Elmore, both of Ashwood.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Hayes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. T.W. Mitchell officiating.

Burial will be in the Piedmont cemetery in Bishopville.

Pallbearers will be Chris Wagner, Ralph Hayes Jr., Scottie Hayes, Eugene Hayes, Randy Hayes, Ashley Grantham, Timmy Elmore and Gene Holloman.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at his home, 202 Lake Ashwood Road.

Memorials may be made to Ashwood Nazarene Church, 2145 Green Lane, Bishopville, SC 29010.

JOSEPH REAMES

BISHOPVILLE -- Joseph "Bud" Reames, 53, husband of Georgia Wells Reames, died Nov. 16, 2004, on S.C. 154, St. Charles Road, Bishopville.

Born May 10, 1951, in Lee County, he was a son of Britton Reames and Willie Mae Reames.

The family will receive friends at his home, 34 Hallsway Lane, St. Charles.

Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

LOURETHA MAE PRINCE

LAKE CITY -- Louretha Mae Prince, 59, wife of Alexander Prince, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence.

She was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Williamsburg County.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 345 Elm St., Lake City.

Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home of Lake City.

JONATHAN BENNETT

MANNING -- Jonathan Bennett, 76, husband of Henrietta Pompey Bennett, died Wednesday night, Nov. 17, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born June 19, 1928, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late James Bennett and Irene Reid Bennett.

The family will receive friends at his residence, 403 Gibbons St., Manning.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

JAMES L. McCOY

BISHOPVILLE -- James L. McCoy, 75, husband of Lola Kelley McCoy, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Born in Raleigh, N.C., he was the son of the late Jamie McCoy and the late Mary Beasley McCoy. He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Robin M. Parnell and Kelly McCoy, both of Bishopville; three grandchildren, Edward C. Parnell and his wife, Rhonda, of Sumter, Anna Parnell and Jamie Parnell, both of Bishopville; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Riggins, Taylor Riggins and Edward Parnell Jr., all of Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Barbee Parsons officiating.

Burial will be in St. Matthew United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home, 533 S. Lee St., Bishopville.

LORNA J. MIMS

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Lorna Johnston Mims, 73, of Givens Estates, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004.

A native of Florida, she was the daughter of the late James Morgan Johnston and Edith Brown Johnston. Her immediate family includes sister Glynn Whipple of Winter Garden, and brothers Bob and Lester Johnson (South Carolina and Washington state, respectively).

Mrs. Mims is survived by her beloved, Bo Watts; two daughters, Jennifer Broom of Hendersonville, N.C., and Marjorie Moran of Savannah, Ga.; a son, William Earl Mims Jr. of Leicester, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Mims, Clara Moran and Thomas Broom; in addition, two stepchildren, Peggy Watts McCormick and Jeff Lynn Watts; and two nephews, John and Jim Hill.

Lorna earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Central Florida and practiced in her field until moving to Henderson County, N.C., to help found MIMS & MIMS TRANSYLVANIA GARDENS, a floriculture business, in 1979 with her late husband, William Earl "Buddy" Mims and son, William Earl Mims Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Skyland United Methodist Church conducted by the Revs. Arnie Corriher and Jane Curran.

Interment will be at a later date in Woodlawn cemetery in Winter Garden, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813 or Skyland United Methodist Church, 1984 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or any other charitable organization.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.

JANIE MAE DAVIS

MAYESVILLE -- Janie Mae Davis, 43, wife of Robert Davis, died Nov. 18, 2004, at her residence, 5360 Neighborhood Road, Mayesville.

Born May 17, 1961, in Mayesville, she was a daughter of the late Eddie Lee and Alma Billie Samuels.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 5360 Neighborhood Road, Mayesville.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

WILLIE E. LAWSON

Willie Edward Lawson, 51, husband of Delvlyn Mayrant Lawson, died Nov. 14, 2004, at his residence, 5565 Alberta Lane, Rembert.

Born Sept. 23, 1953, in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Willie Lawson and Rosa Lee Durant Lawson and the stepson of Lizzie Lawson. Edward, as he was affectionately called, was raised in a loving Christian home along with his seven siblings and taught Christian values. He grew up in Boykin and attended the public schools of Kershaw County, graduating from Camden High in 1972. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of F.N. Manufacturing for 14 years until his illness prevented him from working, effective Sept. 19, 2004. Since the spring of 1999, Edward battled with his illness, but as he knew the battle was not his, but the Lord's. So, like the good and faithful soldier that he was, he stayed on the battlefield until God called him home.

Survivors include two sons, Jarvis O'Neal Vance and Edward Malik Lawson; a very special son, Kris Jackson; one daughter, Brittany Zipporah Lawson; a very special daughter, Valavie Thompson; three brothers, Charles, Samuel (Rosemary) and Jerry Lawson; two special brothers, Lava (Mary) Young and Arthur Pearson; six sisters, Janie (David) Loyd, Stella (George) Middleton, Sarah (Vander) Ragin, Angela (Gerard) Hunter, Shirley Hunter, Bernice (James) Blair; a special sister, Barbara (Stanley) Dinkins; his father-in-law, James Mayrant; one aunt, Sally Pearl Carter of Washington, D.C.; and three grandchildren.

The remains will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from Bible Way Church of Sumter, U.S. 521 North, with Bishop John D. Belton, pastor, eulogist, assisted by Minister Anthony Taylor and Minister Wilbur Holiday.

Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Churchyard cemetery, Rembert.

Pallbearers will be deacons from Bible Way Church of Sumter.

Floral bearers will be ushers from Bible Way Church of Sumter.

The procession will leave at 12:20 p.m. from his home, 5565 Alberta Lane, Rembert.

The family will receive friends at his home, 5565 Alberta Lane, Rembert.
