GEORGE GREEN

MANNING -- George Green, 76, of 1108 SM Road, Manning, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born Feb. 22, 1928, in the Davis Station section of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Tillman Green and Bertha Cain Green.

The family will receive friends at the home of her niece and nephew-in-law, Sandra and James Singletary, 708 E. Moore St., Olanta.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

ROGER D. GOODMAN

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Roger D. Goodman, 45, died Feb. 13, 2005, at Piedmont Hospital.

Born Sept. 7, 1959, in Sumter, he was a son of Herbert Ree McCray Edwards and the late Raymond Goodman Sr. and adoptive son of the late Thomas Goodman Sr. and Thelma Brown Goodman.

The family will receive friends at the family's residence, 4770 Narrow Paved Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

JOSEPH PRINCE Jr.

Joseph Prince Jr., 28, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Sumter County on Sept. 26, 1976, he was the son of Joseph Leon and Rosa Maria Prince.

He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He was kindhearted and always willing to help those that needed assistance. He was lively and full of energy all the time.

Survivors are his parents, Joseph and Rosa Marie Prince; two sons, Jacquest and Jontae Prince of Sumter; two sisters, Victoria and Carrie Marie Prince of Sumter; four brothers, Larry, Aaron, Steven and Tyrone Prince of Sumter; his grandmother, Ethel Bell; a special friend, Viavann of Sumter; seven aunts; four uncles; two godsons, Jykwaune Holliday and Shiquane of Sumter; a godmother, Pearl Rose of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Nathaniel Bell and Ernest Prince, and a grandmother, Carrie Prince.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Congruity United Presbyterian Church, 3750 Congruity Road, with the pastor, the Rev. William Jones, officiating. Burial will follow in the Billie cemetery.

Pallbearers and floral bearers will be friends of the family.

The family is receiving family and friends at the residence, 10 Rolling Creek Drive.

Scriven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT HORTON

Robert "Red" Horton, 72, passed away on Feb. 12, 2005, in Tulsa, Okla.

Born July 5, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Harold and Alice Horton.

He is survived by his former wife, Helen "Sue" Horton of Sumter; their son, Brian Horton of Sumter; two daughters, Sandra Jean Corker of Mineral, Va., and Alice Horton Taylor of Mount Pleasant; as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He has two remaining siblings, a brother, Michael Horton of Cherry Hill, N.J., and a sister, Elizabeth Tyre of Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held at Saint Dominic's in Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Burned Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

THELMA H. GOODMAN

Thelma Ham Goodman, wife of Kenneth M. Goodman, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

She was born April 23, 1924, the daughter of the late Vanara Jermy Smith Ham and the late Willie Irvin Ham. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pell City, Ala., and a member of the DUO Sunday School Class. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in North Augusta.

She is survived by daughters, Aloha Prather and husband, Vernon, of Martin, Tenn., and Ann Taylor and husband, Wyman, of Sumter; stepdaughters, Libby Howell and husband, Jim, of Aiken, Jennifer McCroskey and husband, Lynn, of Birmingham, and Priscilla Wright and husband, Gary, of Pell City; and a stepson, Kenneth Goodman Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Duluth, Ga.

Mrs. Goodman is also survived by four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; one sister, Sadie Skeen of Phenix City, Ala.; and one brother, Willie Ham of Parks, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a sister, and husbands, Searcy W. Moore and Harold Fowler.

Visitation will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Eastern Time (2 p.m. Central) Wednesday at Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta.

Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City will direct the services.

LILLIAN M. McGILL

Lillian Moses McGill entered eternal rest at Hopewell Nursing Center on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005.

Born April 13, 1913, in Lee County, she was the third child born to the late Jonas Moses and Susan Emma Cook Moses. She attended the public school system of Lee County. At an early age, she joined Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church in Woodrow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Daniel McGill; five brothers, Joel, Elijah, Bernie, Mallie and the Rev. Arthur Moses; and two sisters, Bessie and Winnie Moses.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, two sons, Daniel McGill of Columbia and David (Virginia) McGill of Sumter; one granddaughter, Lillian Pernice McGill; two step-granddaughters, Shelia Benjamin of Sumter and Rochelle Benjamin of Spartanburg.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Unionville African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Joshua Dupree. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving visitors at the home of Lillian Mitchell, 2 Riley St., Sumter.

Community Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

ADA M. GRIFFIN

Ada Martin Griffin, 84, widow of Charlton H. Griffin Sr., died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late William H. Martin and the late Ila Martin. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Sumter Iris Garden Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Kinsey of Sumter; two sons, Charlton H. Griffin Jr. and Jimmy Griffin, both of Sumter; six grandchildren, Charlton H. "Trey" Griffin III, Michael Barwick, Leigh Carter, Lacey Griffin, Brandon Griffin and James Griffin; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grace Baptist Church with Dr. James Chandler officiating.

Burial will be in the Sumter cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Trey Griffin, 3495 Congruity Road, Sumter.

Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 219 West Calhoun St., Sumter, SC 29150.

ISABELLE GREEN

Isabelle Green, 47, died Feb. 14, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born July 15, 1957, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Gadson and Frances Grant.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Senora Green and Steven Little, 455 New Castle St.

Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

E. DAVID COLLINS

Ernest David Collins Sr., 48, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at his home.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late LeRoy Eugene Collins and the late Leila Mae White Friel Collins. He was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God Church and was retired from the City of Sumter.

Survivors include a son, Ernest David Collins Jr. of Sedalia, Mo.; a daughter, Crystal Blakely and her husband, Brad, of Sumter; a grandson; four brothers, John Friel and his wife, Linda Jo, of Pinewood, William Leo "Bubba" Friel and his wife, Linda, of Sumter, Linwood L. Collins and his wife, Charlotte, of Summerton, and the Rev. Donnie E. Collins Sr. and his wife, Miriam, of Sumter; three sisters, Madeline Brown, Marcell Hill and her husband, Larry, and Drucilla Lynch and her husband, Larry, all of Sumter; his ex-wife, Gena A. Collins of Sedalia; a stepson, James Collins of Sedalia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today in Green Acres Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Donnie E. Collins Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Green Acres cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lynch, 3311 Nazarene Church Road.

Memorials may be made to the Green Acres Assembly of God Parking Lot Fund, 537 Lewis Road, Sumter, SC 29150.

GALE BAKER

Gale Baker, 40, widow of Pressley Baker, died Feb. 15, 2005, at her residence, 827 Manning Ave.

Born May 12, 1964, in Manning, Clarendon County, she was a daughter of Lynn Brown and Susie Mae Johnson Brown.

The family will receive friends at the home of her brother, David Lee Brown, 7400 Fullard St., Lynchburg, SC 29080.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

ISABELLE GREEN

Isabelle Green, 57, died Feb. 14, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

MAYESVILLE -- Tommy Smith, 49, died Feb. 15, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 22, 1955, in Mayesville, he was a son of Carrie Smith Sims and Bernie McCutcheon.

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Carrie S. Sims, 15 Boundary St., Mayesville, SC 29104.
