Mr. James David Bosier (Age 65), entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his residence in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Born in Clarendon County on September 28, 1942, he was a son of the late Willie and Rosa Gaymon-Bosier.

James was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. He became a member of Nimrod Lodge No. 5. He moved to New York, NY in 1993 and later returned to South Carolina.

He was united in Holy matrimony to Ruby Fullwood. Bummie “ as he was affectionately called” was a happy go lucky guy who loved to dance, even when his health began to fail. He was preceded in death by a son, David Dewayne Bosier.

Fond memories will be cherished by: his fiancé, Willa Jean Lewis of Orangeburg, SC, two daughters, Marsha Bosier of Shallotte, NC and Tishawn Folkes of Bronx, NY; two granddaughters, Jada and Kayla; three sisters, Margaree Coles, Willene B. Johnson and Jessie Mae Green, all of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Albertus Bosier of Paxville, SC; he adopted as sisters and brothers, Harold Ragin of Sumter, SC, Robert Ragin and Mary Emma Spann, both of Paxville, SC, Delores Breland, , Mattie Goode and Ruth Holiday, of New York, NY; one special friend, Clarence “Brucie Boy” Matthews; a special cousin, Tommie L. Ragin; a special little friend, Jasmine Kindell and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant U.M.E. Church, Pinewood, South Carolina. Reverend Dr. Barry Gadsden, Pastor Officiating- Bishop Mike Nino-Eulogist. Final resting place will be the church cemetery.

Viewing will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 1-7 p.m. in the chapel of Dyson’s Home for Funerals. The family is receiving friends at the home, 142 Valiant Drive, Orangeburg, SC. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service (noon).

Mr. Richard Eugene Brock
Manning, South Carolina

Mr. Richard Eugene Brock, 58, of 1276 Sterling Road. "Silver Community" Manning, South Carolina. Who entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 01, 2008 at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning, South Carolina.

Richard Eugene Brock the son of Mrs. Bessie Wilson Brock and the late Mood Brock, was born in the Silver Community of Clarendon County, South Carolina.

He was a member of the Friendship A.M.E. Church and a 1968 graduate of Scott’s Branch High School and received a degree in Criminal Justice from Central Carolina, Sumter, South Carolina.

Richard was united in holy matrimony to the late Annie L. Billie Brock. This Union was blessed with two children, Latonia Brock and Richard E. Brock, Jr. He was a faithful son, a loving father, a caring brother, uncle and a loyal and trusted friend to many. He served his country by active duty in the United States Marines in the Vietnam Conflict and the S.C. National Guard.

Richard was employed with Sun beam of Manning, Exide Battery of Sumter, the Clarendon County Sheriff Department as a Sheriff Deputy, Food Lion as a truck driver. His last employment was with U.T.I. Transport, Charleston, S.C.

Richard departed this earthly life Friday morning, February 1, 2008 at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning, SC.

He is survived by a loving mother, Bessie Wilson Brock; two children, Richard E. Brock, Jr. and Latonia Brock of the home; four sisters, Lillian B. Smith, Baltimore, MD, Elizabeth B. (Castine) Ridgill, Manning, SC, Margaret and Teressa Brock, Silver, SC; a special daughter, Betty (Bet) Billie; three sister-in-laws, Josephine (Earl) Richardson, Lena Nelson and Azilee (Ethel) Billie; four brother-in-laws, Robert (Susan) Billie, James Billie, Lindell Billie and Ephraim (Feliz) Billie; two special nephews, Jamar Brock and Darren Ridgill; a devoted friend Doris Pendergrass of Manning, SC; two loyal friends, Robert (Bugg) Billie and Willie T. Briggs and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00pm -7:00 pm on Friday, February 8, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008- 2:30 pm at Friendship A.M.E. Church, Silver, South Carolina. with the Reverend Dr. James B. Stukes, Pastor, Presiding Elder Joesph Postell, and Reverend Terry Johnson. Final resting place will be the church cemetery.

Mr. James Allard Williams, Jr.
Dalzell, South Carolina

Mr. James Allard Williams, Jr., 52, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Tuomey Regional Hospital, Sumter, South Carolina.

James was born on Monday, May16, 1955 in Johnsonville, South Carolina, to the late Frances Ellison Kithcart and James A. Williams, Sr. He was the husband of Margaret Bolden Williams.

James was educated in the public schools of Florence County where he graduated from Johnsonville High School, Johnsonville, South Carolina. He was formerly employed by M. B. Kahn Construction of Columbia, SC and National O & M of Sumter, SC.

James was a loyal and dedicated member of New Israel Missionary Baptist Church in Dalzell, SC. He served as a Trustee, Church Sexton, President of the Male Chorus, Vice President of the Brotherhood Ministry and in many other capacities.

Fond memories will be cherished by: his loving wife, Margaret Bolden Williams of the home; two sons, Damon A. Williams and Ryan A. Williams, both of Sumter, SC; two grandchildren, Damien Williams and Hunter Williams of Sumter, SC; four sisters, Cynthia Rucker, Bertha Taylor, Beverly McNeal and Doris Williams, all of Columbia, S C; one brother, William Kithcart of Florence, SC; five aunts, Dorothy Parker, Lacy Davis and Doris (J.G.) McWhite, both of Johnsonville, SC, Loucreca Davis of Philadelphia, PA and Levon (Gordon) Parrant of New York; one uncle, Thomas (Janie) Davis of Columbia, SC; mother-in-law, Geneva Angevine of Sumter, SC; two special sister-in-laws, Pamela Whitfield and Julie (Tracy) Brown, both of Sumter, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Scriven Funeral Home, 230 Lafayette Drive, Sumter, South Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 - noon at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, SC with the Reverend Dr. D. L. Grant, Pastor of New Israel Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Final resting place will be Pentecostal Apostolic Church cemetery in Johnsonville, South Carolina.

Mrs. Rosena Gaymon Charles
Paxville Community, Pinewood, SC

Rosena Gaymon Charles, 87, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning, South Carolina.

Born March 20, 1920, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Lula Green Gaymon and the widow of Julius Johnson and Willie Charles.

She was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. She was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Paxville. Affectionately known as "Deanie, " she passionately loved her family and was dedicated to helping others.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Johnson, and three sisters, Anna Lee Jacobs, Rosa Wilder and Mary Dyson.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving daughter, Dorothy C. Mathis of the home; a sister, Susana Rodgers of Columbia; a brother, Abraham Gaymon of Paxville; two grandchildren, Erica Mathis of Columbia and Kenneth Mathis of Lake Jackson, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Paxville with the Rev. Clifford Gaymon, pastor, officiating. Final resting place will be Calvary Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Pinewood, South Carolina

Mr. William Bozier
Summerton, South Carolina

William Bozier, 65, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at his residence, surrounded by his mother's love.

Born on Sunday, Oct. 18, 1942, he was a son of Sarah Gaymon Bozier and the late James "Bee" Bozier. He was reared in a Christian home. He attended the Clarendon County Development Center.

William was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, James and Levi.

He leaves to cherish many memories and mourn his passing: his loving and devoted mother, Sarah Gaymon Bozier of the home; five brothers, Thomas Bozier of Charlotte, N.C., Marvin Bozier of Davis Station, Robert and Harry Bozier, both of White Plains, N.Y., and Leon Bozier of Norcross, Ga.; four sisters, Comilla Johnson of Summerton, Lucille Smith of Bridgeport, Conn., Juline Stukes of Elmsford, N.Y., and Lizzie Allen of White Plains; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Mount Pleasant UME Church, Panola, South Carolina, with the Rev. Barry Gadsden, pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Willie Green Jr., eulogist. Final resting place will be the church cemetery.

Mary Amaker Kyler
Columbia, South Carolina

Mary Ellen Amaker Kyler, 73, of 5797 Corbett St., Los Angeles, formerly of West Columbia, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at her residence.

Mary was born on Thursday, May 21, 1934 in Swansea, South Carolina to the late Herbert Lee Amaker, Sr. and Julia McNeal Amaker.

A pivotal moment in life for her and her family began when she moved to West Columbia, South Carolina, where she attended church and school. She graduated from Lakeview High School and attended Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Mary joined Brookland Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until she married and move to Dublin, Georgia. She late later relocated to Los Angeles, California.

Mary passionately loved her family and was dedicated to helping others. Her tenacity and strong work ethic led her to more than thirty-five years in the Los Angeles Health Care System, following her mother's footsteps, until retiring.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sisters, Catherine E. (Arthur) Smith of Columbia, SC and Maxine Amaker of West Columbia, South Carolina; a brother, Robert Lee Amaker of West Columbia, South Carolina, two aunts, Carreather Greene of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Marie McNeal of North, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Wilhemlmina Amaker of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at Brookland Baptist Church, Columbia, with the Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jackson Sr., pastor, officiating. Final resting place will be the Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, South Carolina.

Barker, Betsy

MANNING - Bessie Mae “Betsy” Barker, 59, widow of Harry James Barker, died Sunday, February 1, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Manning.

Born March 16, 1949, in Manning, she was the daughter of James Wesley and Stella Rhodus Rhodus. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughter, Pam Hickman and her husband Joey of Manning, and Tammy Barker of Sumter; a sister, Margaret Janice Sinner of West Columbia; two brothers, Donald Eugene Rhodus of West Columbia, and Ashley Eugene Rhodus of Florence; four grandchildren, Jamie Barker, J. R. Burke, Marie Burke, and Meranda Hickman.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Kevin Cribb officiating. Burial was in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were
J. R. Burke, Jamie Barker, Sonnie Rhodus, Randy Rhodus, Sam Davis, John Hickman, and Ricky Tilton.

Benenhaley, Elizabeth

MANNING – Elizabeth Ward Benenhaley, 64, wife of Gene R. Benenhaley, died Thursday, February 5, 2009, in Tuomey Healthcare System in Sumter.

Born August 10, 1944, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Rubin and Earline Geddings Ward. She was a retired sales clerk and was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving besides her husband of Manning are a son, Deryl Geddings of Manning; a granddaughter, Megan Geddings of Sumter; two great grandchildren, Jacob Logan Mitchum and Isabella Aviles of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Snyder; three brothers, Bennie, Hershel and Gilbert Ward; and an infant sister.

A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2009, in Paxville Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. Dale Turner officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Bilton, Mary Ann

SUMMERTON – Mary Ann King Bilton, 89, widow of Wilson Whittaker Bilton, Sr., died Friday, February 13, 2009, at the home of her son in Deep Run, NC.

Born April 9, 1919, in St. Paul, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Mary Black King. She was a retired restaurant hostess, and a member of Summerton United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” (Robert) Hodge of W. Columbia; three sons, Joseph Charles (Diane) Bilton of Holly Hill, John Wayne (Judy) Bilton of Deep Run, NC, and Kenneth B. (Anna) Bilton of Manning; two sisters, Dorothy Kennedy and Gladys Walker, both of Sumter; ten grandchildren, Robbie Hodge, Libby Hodge Hill, Lynn Shuler, Joni Miles, Shawn Bilton, Shannon Shawver, Billy Myler, Joe Miller, Johnny Joyner, and Bobbie Jo Autrey; and five great grandchildren, Kristin Whittle, Colby Hodge, Jace Shuler, Allen Satcher, and Ammie Satcher.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Bilton Miller; two sons, Wilson W. Bilton Jr. and James Randolph Bilton; and a sister, Virginia Beatty.

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Monday in Summerton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Burial was in Summerton Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were Robbie Hodge, Jay Bruner, Shawn Bilton, Lance Shuler, Darren Miles, and Rembert Kennedy, Jr.

Bryant, Joanna

SUMTER – Joanna Sue Rhea Bryant, 44, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at her home in Sumter.

Born July 19, 1964, in Saltville, VA, she was the daughter of Rebecca Pauline Goodman Rhea and the late Fraley Gilmer Rhea. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving besides her mother of Manning are her stepfather George Bryant of Manning; two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Bryant and Crystal Gail Bryant of Manning; two sisters, Tina Rhea of Manning, and Crystal (Tim) Vance of Dalzell; a brother, Robert Rhea of Manning; a nephew, Jamie Rhea of Alcolu; companion, Richard Porcher Jr., and his mother Rebecca Porcher of Sumter.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Dwight Shirley officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of George & Pauline Bryant, 1482 Hodge Circle, Manning.

Bryant, Junius Henry

MANNING – Junius Henry Bryant, 67, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Olanta.

Born January 25, 1942, in Manning, he was the son of the late Junius Hampton and Isabelle B. Bryant. He was married to the late Betty Bryant, was employed at Aircap for 27 years, retired from Midwest Stamping after ten years, and was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Norma Jean (J. M.) McKenzie of Olanta, and Lisa (Michael) Casselman of Andrews; a son, Junius H. “Bubba” Bryant Jr. of Turbeville; two brothers, Robert (Christine) Bryant of Manning, and Harry Lee Bryant of Manning; two stepsons, Richie (Marie) Allen of Columbia, and Donnie (Debbie) Allen of Sumter; a stepdaughter, Barbara Bodenheimer of Manning; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Richard Hudson officiating. Burial was in Home Branch Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Bryan McKenzie, Jimmy Coker, Jason Floyd, Joe Bryant, Sphinks Bryant, and Laurence Bryant.

Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 3503 W. Turbeville Highway, Lake City, SC 29560.

Coker, Cecil Leavern

GREELEYVILLE – Cecil Leavern Coker, 72, husband of Judith Mary “Judy” Moore Coker, died Monday, February 2, 2009, at his home.

Born October 12, 1936, in Olanta, he was the son of the late Judson and Mary Coker Goins. He was a retired truckdriver, and a U. S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife of Greeleyville and six children.

Services were private.

Coleman, Barbara

SUMTER – Barbara Arnold Coleman, 80, widow of Ray Preston Coleman, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Tuomey Healthcare System after an extended illness.

Born January 18, 1929, in Ludwag, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Margareta Arnold. She was a retired seamstress from Pioneer Dress LTD, and a member of New Zion Methodist Church in Prosperity.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Coleman Mathis and her husband Wayne of Sumter; three sons, Ray Coleman Jr. and his wife Helen of Easley, Fred C. Coleman of Florence and Derrell Coleman and his wife Faye of Burgaw, NC; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Rogers; and a granddaughter, Sabrina Coleman.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Charlie Ahtonen officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter. Pallbearers were Ray Coleman, Robbie Coleman, Erik Mathis, Garrett Coleman, Robert Stukes and Derrell Coleman, Jr.
