Harold Crocker -- North Augusta

Harold Crocker, 75, of Jackson Ave., North Augusta, died Thursday, June 27, 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta, with the Rev. Jimmy Coyle officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post 71, the John C. Calhoun Sunday School Class and the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club.

Mr. Crocker was a native of Poplarville, Miss., having made North Augusta his home for the past 56 years. He was a Baptist and was a retired letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service as well as a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Army with 20 years service. Mr. Crocker was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and U.S. Army Veteran of Korea. He was a life member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post 71, life member of the VFW and a member of Voltaire 1177 of the 40 &8. In addition, he was a volunteer with the Senior Fitness program, North Augusta Parks and Recreation Dept., V.A. Hospital volunteer and member of the Salt Team of North Augusta, and was a member of the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Roberts Crocker; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Pam Crocker of Martinez, Ga.; a daughter, Betty Ann Crocker of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Paul J. Crocker, Picayune, Miss., and Benny Crocker of Enterprise, Ala.; two sisters, Wanda Snyder of Sellersburg, Ind. and Jane Burge of Hattiesburg, Miss; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Brant Crocker of Martinez, Ga.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home of North Augusta.

John M. Dalton -- Orangeburg

John M. Dalton, 78, of 1000 Live Oak Drive, Orangeburg, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at The Methodist Oaks.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Nancy Freeman Stringer Chapel at The Methodist Oaks, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Tant Ehrhardt and the Rev. Sam Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Dalton was born in Leipzig, Germany, a son of the late Martin Dalton and Frieda Wiegle Dalton. He was a graduate of Hampton-Sidney College, Va. He was a nuclear engineer technician at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a former Scout master. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, former district lay leader, a former member of the South Carolina Conference Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jean Wise Dalton of the home; daughters, Linda Jean Sesco of Mansfield, Ohio, Gale Heldenbrand of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Cindy Osborne of Boiling Springs; son, John W. Dalton of Hillsdale, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to The Methodist Oaks Residents Assistance Fund or Northgate Baptist Church, 850 Woodbine Drive, Orangeburg, SC, 29115.

Charles Fogle -- Holly Hill

Charles Fogle, 47, of 1459 Mount Oliver Road, Holly Hill, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002.

Funeral plans will be announced by Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.

Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.

Catherine Deitrick 'Miss Kitty' Johnston -- St. Geroge

Catherine Deitrick "Miss Kitty" Johnston, 88, of 405 Johnston St., St. George, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital, Spartanburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at St. George United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wash Belangia and the Rev. Edward Davidson officiating. Burial will be in the St. George cemetery.

Mrs. Johnston was born July 17, 1913, in Essex County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Harry Vincent Deitrick and Nancy Rice Deitrick. She was a graduate of William and Mary College. Mrs. Johnston was active in various clubs and civic organizations and was a member of the St. George United Methodist Church for 66 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Aquilla Richard Johnston.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, A. Richard Johnston Jr. and Carol B. Johnston of Columbia, John B. Johnston and Tracy R. Johnston of Walterboro, Harry L. Johnston and Mary B. Johnston and Kirkland S. Johnston and Lydia B. Johnston, all of Spartanburg; a twin brother, John G. Deitrick of Tappahannock, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Fridayat Bryant Funeral Home in St. George.

Ms. Hattie Mae King -- Summerville

The funeral for Ms. Hattie Mae Kelley King, 56, of 480 Fairey Road, Branchville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Canaan Baptist Church in Branchville, with the Rev. Benjamin Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bernard Butler, Clifford Colter, Rashawn Colter, Early Crosby, Melvin Stokes and Roscoe Stokes.

The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Ms. King died Friday, June 21.

She was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Richard and Arethea Littles Kelley. She was married to Issac King. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She attended the public schools of Branchville. She worked at Ambler's industrial Plant until her health failed in 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Queen E. King of Philadelphia, Mary L. Glover and Inez K. Parker, both of Branchville; a son, Issac (Sonja) King of Orangeburg; a sister, Mary Jane (Melvin) Stokes of Branchville; five brothers, Abraham Kelley, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Kelley of Branchville, Leroy (Diane) Kelley of Orangeburg, Jerome Kelley of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Eddie Kelley of Bowman; two sisters-in-law, Albertha Kelley of Branchville and Margaret King of Homerville, Ga.; six grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and a special friend, Maxine Woods.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Owens Funeral Home Chapel of Branchville. Friends may call at the residence of her daughter Inez Parker of Branchville and the funeral home.

George Cook -- Clinton, Tenn.

George Cook, 63, of Clinton, Tenn., died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at his residence.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tenn. with graveside service following at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

Mr. Cook was a United States Army Veteran and also a member of the Mississippi National Guards. He retired from Bank First in Knoxville as a banker.

Survivors include two sons, William David Cook of Clinton, Tenn. and Kelly Fletcher Cook of Orangeburg; and one brother, Howard Cook of Nashville, Tenn.

Doris 'Dottie' Price Hartzog -- Dorchester

Funeral services for Doris "Dottie" Price Hartzog, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randall J. Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorchester cemetery directed by Bryant Funeral Home of St. George.

Pallbearers will be Harvey Kizer, Robert Gibbs, Mike Pate, Tommy Clayton, Mike Cummings, Harry Cummings, Russell Hilton and Tim Hilton.

Mrs. Hartzog died Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Salem United Methodist Church, Dorchester, SC 29437 or to the Dorchester Academy Loyalty Plus Fund, PO Box 901, St. George, SC 29477.

Mrs. Elloree Sexton -- Charlotte, N.C.

Mrs. Elloree Sexton, 76, of 2361 Orange Grove Road, Bamberg, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. after a brief illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Johnson-Dash Funeral Home of Bamberg.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cassie Price Summers -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Mrs. Cassie Price Summers, 68, of 1260 Dantzler St., Orangeburg, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Orangeburg. Burial will be in Belleville Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg.

Mrs. Summers died Wednesday, July 31.

She was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Peter Price and Queenie Dash Price. She was educated in the Orangeburg public schools. She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where she sang on the choir and served on the food committee. She was employed with Orangeburg School District Five and The Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of the late Frank Summers.

Survivors include five daughters, Angela Price (Frederick) Ladson of Columbia, Jacquelyn R. (Andre) Singleton of New York, Gloria Price and Laura Summers-Gaffney, both of Orangeburg and Catherine Summers of the home; one son, Frankie Summers of Orangeburg; three sistes, Pearl Rivers of Orangeburg, Christine Ulmer of Washington, D.C. and Rosella Gilliard of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Joseph Price of Denmark; 11 grandchildren; a special niece, Natalie Owens; and a little friend, Auden H. Tate; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence and at Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Dozier Haynes III -- St. Matthews

Dozier Haynes III, formerly of Ft. Motte, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident.

Funeral plans will be announced by Carson's Funeral Home of St. Matthews.

Harvey Lee Miller -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Harvey Lee Miller, 50, of 141 Dickson Street, Orangeburg, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Granger Baptist Church, Elloree, with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Miller died Saturday, Aug. 31, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, following a brief illness.

He was born June 25, 1952, in Orangeburg, a son of Mrs. Willer Dean Miller Abraham and the late Harmon Miller. He was educated in Orangeburg School District 5.

Survivors include his mother; sons, Harvey L. Miller and Jerell Miller; two brothers, Steve Miller and Michael Miller; three sisters, Mrs. William Myers (Gladys), Mrs. Albert Neal (Virginia), Mrs. Gloria Hallingquest; surrogate sister, Ms. Laverne Milhouse; stepbrother, James Abraham; two grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence of his sisters, Mrs. Gladys Myers, 620 Dwight Swamp Road, Cameron; Mrs. Gloria Hallingquest, 623 Dwight Swamp Road, Cameron, and at Bethea's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Victoria G. Burk -- St. Matthews

Graveside services for Victoria Gancarz Burk, 57, of 109 Murph Mill Road, St. Matthews, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at West End cemetery, with Father Michael Polewczak officiating.

Mrs. Burk died Monday, Sept. 30.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC, 29210.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg of is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Ruby Mae Butler -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Ms. Ruby Mae Butler, 77, of 182 St. Matthews Road, Pecan Grove, Apt A-303, Orangeburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Butler Chapel AME Church, 5727 North Road, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Johnny Bryd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Butler died Monday, Sept. 30.

She was born July 29, 1925, a daughter of the late James and Annie Fredrick Butler. She was a member of Butler Chapel AME Church where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, an active missionary and an active participant in the Women's Day Program. She graduated from Calhoun County Public Schools. She worked at the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center as Dietary Aide until retirement. She was an active member of the Council on Aging Jubilee Choir.

Survivors include two sons, James (Bertha) Butler of Orangeburg and Curtis Lakes of Fairfax; one daughter, Annette B. (Johnny) Smalls of Eutawville; five grandchildren, Mindy, Alonya, John, Jermaine and Jamal; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 1696 Russell St., Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence in Pecan Grove and at Jackson's Memorial Chapel, Neeses.

Mrs. Rilla Goodwin -- Ridgeway

Mrs. Rilla Goodwin, 93, of Ridgeway Health and Rehab. Center, Ridgeway, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, following an extended illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Bethea's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home.
