Mrs. Maggie 'Miney' Houston -- North

The funeral for Maggie "Miney" Houston, 83, of 162 Redberry Court, North, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, North, with the Rev. Monroe Danley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Houston died Saturday, Sept. 28.

She was born Oct. 9, 1918, a daughter of the late Less Hook and Rosa Lee Bell. At an early age she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served on the senior choir, deaconess, Willing Workers, and treasurer of the floral club. She was also a retired homemaker and the widow of Joseph Houston.

Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Jones, Mary Rivers, and Melody Boyd, all of North, and Dianna Cobbs of Orangeburg; five sons, David Houston of Bridgeport, Conn., Robert Houston of Orangeburg, Thomas Houston of Albany, Ga., Joel Houston of North, and Don Houston of Columbia; one adopted son, Robert Dash of Orangeburg; four sisters, Lillie M. Robinson of Bronx, N.Y., Margie Mosley and Jessie M. Fields, both of Orangeburg and Mary Geiger of Queens, N.Y.; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence and at Knotts Funeral Home of Swansea.

Mrs. Frances Jefferson -- Holly Hill

The funeral for Mrs. Frances Jefferson, 73, of 139 Goodfarm Road, Holly Hill, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Providence Baptist Church, Santee, with the Rev. Lonnie Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Katie Martin cemetery, Santee.

Mrs. Jefferson died Saturday, Sept. 28.

She was born June 24, 1929, in Holly Hill, a daughter of the late Richard Johnson III and Olivia Braham Johnson.

Survivors include two daughters, Deloris (Jimmie) Green and Rose Hilliard, both of Holly Hill; one son, Hezehiah (Bessie) Jefferson of Bowie, Maryland; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Lizzie White and Mary Lee (Willie) Johnson; two brothers, Leroy Johnson and John (Janie) Johnson; six sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.

Eutawville Community Funeral Home of Eutawville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rosa Stoudemire Shuler -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Mrs. Rosa Stoudemire Shuler, 86, of The Methodist Oaks and formerly of Santee, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Elloree First Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. Clark McCrary III officiating. Burial will be in Island cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harry Lee Stoudemire, Danny Shuler, Johnny Shuler, Mervin Stoudemire, McDowell Miley and Odell Shuler.

Mrs. Shuler died Tuesday.

She was born Nov. 29, 1915, a daughter of the late James Caswell and Rosa Ann Smith Stoudemire. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elloree and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Laurie Elmo Shuler. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Shuler Brickle, and an infant son, Larry Elmo Shuler.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Laurie Wayne and Judy W. Shuler of Santee; grandchildren, Rebecca L. Shuler of Taos, New Mexico, Catherine A. Shuler of Lafayette, Ind., Larry Wayne Shuler of Santee, Benji H. Brickle III of Orangeburg and Mrs. Steven (Julie) Gindhard of Charleston; four great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Hazel Shuler of The Methodist Oaks, Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Fogle-Hungerpiller Funeral Home in Elloree.

Memorials may be made to Island cemetery Fund, c/o Diane Power, 303 Gransplace Lane, Santee, SC 29142; or First Baptist Church of Elloree or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.

Geneva G. Smith -- St. Matthews

Geneva Gladden Smith, 88, of St. Matthews, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at The Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at West End cemetery, St. Matthews, with the Rev. Robert K. Frederick officiating.

Mrs. Smith was born in Fairfax, a daughter of the late Silas l. Gladden and Lila Mae Barber Gladden. She retired from Chester County Hospital. Mrs. Smith was a member of Great Falls United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Coley L. Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty S. Kemmerlin of St. Matthews and Mrs. Barclay Hancock of Jacksonville, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby C. (Shirley) Smith of St. Matthews; son, Tommy L. Smith of Gaston; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Betty Kemmerlin, 103 Dantzler St., St. Matthews.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

Jerome Brown -- Holly Hill

Jerome Brown, 42, of 102 Topeka Lane, Holly Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.

Friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Goodwin, 102 Topeka Lane, and at the funeral home.

Jerome 'Pop' Brown -- Holly Hill

The funeral for Jerome "Pop" Brown, 42, of 102 Topeka Lane, Holly Hill, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Greater Friendship AME Church, Santee, with the Rev. John C. Smalls officiating. Burial will be in the Dantzler cemetery, Santee.

Mr. Brown died Tuesday.

Friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Goodwin, 102 Topeka Lane, and at Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.

Therlo Miller Sr. -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Therlo Miller Sr., 50, of 1265 Adden Street, Orangeburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Brown Chapel AME Church, Cameron, with the Rev. Rufus Gaymon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be nephews, brothers-in-law and friends.

The casket will be placed in the church an hour before the service.

Mr. Miller died Saturday, Nov. 16, at MUSC in Charleston after a brief illness.

Mr. Miller was born Oct. 27, 1952, in Orangeburg, a son of the late Thomas Miller Sr. and Pearl Sumpter Miller. He was a graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. At an early age he joined Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and recently affiliated himself with Brown Chapel AME Church, to attend with his wife. Two brothers, Bernard and Sharrow, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie B. Franklin Miller of the home; one son, Therlo Miller Jr. of Branchville; a daughter, Lashana Miller of Chapel Hill, N.C.; three sisters, Barbara Miller Wright (John Morris) of Cameron, Sharon Miller Jamison (George) of Orangeburg, and Annie Miller Knapp (George) of White Plains, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas Miller Jr. (Ann) of White Plains, N.Y.; two stepsisters, Latte Nelson of Orangeburg, and Vera Greene of Yonkers, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Barbara Miller Wright (John Morris), 181 Dontravian Drive, 301 North, Cameron, or at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Norma Stroman (Thomas), 1995 Whittaker Parkway, and at Bythewood Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Mack Jones -- Orangeburg

Mack Jones, 76, of 150 Lindale St., Orangeburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at his residence after a brief illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence of his wife, Mrs. Eddie Mae Jones, 288 Sellers Ave., Orangeburg, and the funeral home.

Ricky L. Davis -- Orangeburg

Funeral services for Ricky L. Davis, 28, of 901 Corona Drive, Apt. 3A, Orangeburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Unity Baptist Church in Eutawville, with the Rev. S. T. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery in Eutawville.

Mr. Davis died Friday, Dec. 20, as a result of an auto accident.

He was born in Charleston, a son of Ms. Dorothy Davis of Eutawville and Ricky Pinckney of Atlanta, Ga. He was a 1994 graduate of Roberts High School in Holly Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Doris B. Davis of the home; one son, Ricky S. Davis of the home; four brothers, Xavier C. Davis of Eutawville, Orlanda Washington of Charleston, Christopher B. Pinckney of Harrisburg, Pa. and Ricky Pinckney of Atlanta, Ga.; paternal grandparents, Deacon and Mrs. Charles (Beatrice) Pinckney; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Deleston; one brother-in-law and a brother-in-law in the home, Benjamin O. Bracey.

Friends and family may call at the home of his wife, Mrs. Doris Davis.

Eutawville Community Funeral Home of Eutawville is charge of arrangements.

James Scott -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Mr. James Scott, 72, of 575 Stonewall Jackson Blvd., Orangeburg, will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Julius Guinyard officiating. Burial will be in Belleville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mr. Scott died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Orangeburg County, the son of the late Mr. Jake Sistrunk and Mrs. Janie Scott. He attended the Orangeburg County Public Schools. He was employed at Michelin Tire Company for many years.

To cherish fond memories, he leaves two daughters, Geneva Scott Mintz of Orangeburg and Dorothy Preston of Orangeburg; one son, Alphonso Dozier of Columbia; one special niece, Shirley Keitt of Orangeburg; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence of his daughter, Dorothy Preston, 160 Kelly Ct. Drive, Cordova, and at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, at the funeral home.

Vincent B. Bonnette Sr. -- Neeses

Vincent B. Bonnette Sr., 37, of 767 Drag Strip Road, Neeses, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral plans will be announced by W.B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.

Ms. Daisy Robinson -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Ms. Daisy Robinson, 36, 632 Riverside Drive, Apt. E2, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Glover's Funeral Home with the Rev. Juluis Guinyard and the Rev. Darby officiating. Burial will be in Orangeburg cemetery.

Ms. Robinson died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at the Bamberg County Hospital following a brief illness.

Friends may call at the residence and at Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Garry Bernard Washington -- Denmark

The funeral services for Garry Bernard Washington, 39, of Denmark was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Lees. Burial was held in the church cemetery.

Mr. Washington died Wednesday, July 10, 2002.

Mr. Washington was the son of Mrs. Gladys D. Washington and the late Perlie Washington.

Survivors include his mother of the home; two brothers, Carl Washington of the home and Stanley Washington of Queens, N.Y.; one sister Diane Washington of Denmark.

Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell was in charge of arrangements.

Florence R. Smalls-Felder -- Orangeburg

Florence R. Smalls-Felder, 90, of Jolly Acres Nursing Center, Orangeburg, and formerly of Bamberg, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.

Funeral plans will be announced by Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg.

Friends may call at residence of Edward and Mary Stokes, 328 River Ridge Road, Orangeburg.
