Lucy W. Bair -- Orangeburg

Funeral services for Lucy Williams Bair, 54, of 1031 Orange Parish, Orangeburg, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Rivelon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Haigler, Gregg Berry, Ronnie Jeffcoat, Mickey Hinson, Melton Morris, Hugh Fanning, Timmy Boyleston and Ronnie Bair. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult III Sunday School Class and Rivelon Sanctuary Choir.

Mrs. Bair died Monday, Oct. 20, at her residence.

Mrs. Bair was born in Orangeburg, a daughter of Sam Williams and Laura Bonnette Williams. She was an administrative specialist to the Family Supportive Services with DHEC. She was a member of Rivelon Baptist Church, Rivelon Sanctuary Choir, Sunday school teacher of the young adult class and the church pianist for 38 years.

Survivors include her husband, David W. Bair, of the home; daughter, Gretchen Bair, Charleston; son, Ben Bair, Columbia; her parents of Orangeburg; two brothers, Dwight Williams, Columbia, and Carl Williams, Bolentown; niece, Meredith Williams; and nephew, Sam Williams.

Friends may call at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Rivelon Baptist Church Bus Fund, 395 Rivelon Road, Orangeburg SC 29118.

Little Master Nathaniel Hall III--Eutawville

Little Master Nathaniel Hall III, 8, of 148 Comet Court, Eutawville, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003.

Eutawville Community Funeral Home of Eutawville is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth K. Salley--Orangeburg

Ruth K. Salley, 94, of 1000 Live Oak Drive, Orangeburg, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at The Methodist Oaks.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Barry Jenkins officiating.

Mrs. Salley was born in Elloree, a daughter of the late Edward Kull and Minnie Browning Kull. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and served as a teacher in the Orangeburg City Schools for 44 years. She taught for 5 years at the Orangeburg Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Salley was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, youth worker, Circle Member, and choir member. She served 25 years on the Salvation Army Board and was a member of the Dixie Club, PTA, Business and Professional Women's Club, Kings Daughters, and the Orangeburg County Federation of Women's Clubs. She was the widow of Charles Harvin Salley.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Salley Haigler of Anderson; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 650 Summers NE, Orangeburg SC 29115.

David Edward Haynes -- Orangeburg

David Edward Haynes, 64, of 1345 Norman St., Orangeburg, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at The Regional Medical Center following an auto accident.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Fannie (Jimmy) Franklin at 448 Fanfare Drive, Orangeburg, and at the funeral home.

Ms. Beverly M. Davis -- Swansea

Funeral services for Ms. Beverly M. Davis, 47, of 131 Powder Cave Road, Swansea, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at New Life Outreach Ministries, Highway 3, near Swansea, with Pastor Cardell Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Ms. Davis died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003.

She was a daughter of Mrs. Mattie Murph Davis and the late Thomas E. Davis.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at W.B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Amanda Spell Kizer -- St. George

Mrs. Amanda Spell Kizer, of 301 Ridge St., St. George, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 in St. George United Methodist Church with Rev. Wash Belangia officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Westbury, Philip Westbury, Pete Peters, Eddie Wrenn, Steve Duncan and Joey Spell.

Mrs. Kizer was born May 8, 1915, in Grover, a daughter of the late Joseph Hoffman Spell and Margaret Matilda Westbury Spell. She was a member of St. George United Methodist Church and was a retired employee for St. George Insurance Agency. Mrs. Kizer was the widow of Sidney Carlisle Kizer and was predeceased by sisters, Marie S. Westbury and Winnie S. Conklin.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy K. (Billy) Jackson of St. George; a brother Joseph (Pat) Spell of Moncks Corner; three sisters, Nell S. Westbury of Grover, Edna S. Wrenn of Bethera and Margaret S. Duncan of Grover; one grandchild, Sid (Cindy) Jackson of St. George; and two great-grandchildren, Sara Gosnell and Will Worrell.

Memorials may be made to St. George United Methodist Church, 120 Parler Ave., St. George SC 29477, or Hospice of Charleston, 3896 Leeds Ave, North Charleston SC 29405.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home of St. George.

Robert N. Sandifer -- Orangeburg

Robert N. Sandifer, 89, of 1000 Live Oak Drive, Orangeburg, died Monday Nov. 10, 2003, at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Sunnyside cemetery, with the Rev. Kermitt Shrawder officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Mr. Sandifer was born in Norway, a son of the late J.D. Sandifer and Annie Elizabeth Zeigler Sandifer. He was a retired salesman. Mr. Sandifer was of the Baptist faith. He was the widower of Mattie Sistrunk Sandifer.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Sandifer Wolfe, and a brother, J.D. Sandifer.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Cecil Lawton Browder -- Orangeburg

Cecil Lawton Browder, 58, of 2664 Charleston Road, Orangeburg, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, following a single-car accident.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Tant Ehrhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery in Orangeburg.

Mr. Browder was born in Orangeburg on March 28, 1945, the son of Vera Rowell Browder Benton. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Vera Rowell Browder Benton, of Orangeburg; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Youngs, Beverly B. Brown and Ruby B. Polin, all of Orangeburg; six children, Lawton Parrish Browder, of St. Matthews, Marlin Browder Ferguson, of St. George, Stephanie Browder Fincannon, of Florence, Michelle Browder Kordes, of Lake Murray, Shane Lawton Browder, of Mauldin and Eric Elude Browder, of Columbia; four grandsons, Justin Ferguson, Cody Ferguson and Eric Ferguson, all of St. George, and Nicholas Ray Browder, of St. Matthews; one granddaughter, Briana Kordes, of Lake Murray; two nephews and one niece.

Friends may call at the residence, 2664 Charleston Road, Orangeburg, and at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Terry Khristian Rider -- Orangeburg

The funeral for Terry Khristian Rider, 16, of 147 Rider Road, Orangeburg, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Living Wells Celebration Center in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Bennie Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. George Baptist Church cemetery in Orangeburg.

Mr. Rider died early Sunday, Nov. 30.

Active pallbearers will be Austin Berry, Rick Craven, Cory Hardy, Keith Whitman, Tyler Whitman, Matthew McDaniel and Chevy Bolen.

He was born Dec. 31, 1986, in Bamberg, the son of Terry Kevin Rider and Suzanne Livingston Rider. He was a member of Living Wells Celebration Center. He formerly attended Garden City Christian School, also Orangeburg Christian Academy where he was active in soccer and basketball. He also attended Belmar New Jersey School where he played three seasons of baseball. He was a student at Edisto High School where he played baseball. He also played baseball with the Edisto Dixie Youth. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, J.C. Rider, and his maternal grandparents, Peggy and Fred Livingston Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Suzanne L. Rider, of Orangeburg; his father, Kevin Rider, of Orangeburg; four sisters, Amanda Grace Rider, Mrs. Jason (Susannah) Dunn, Melissa Griffin, all of Orangeburg, Tammie Rider, of Cordova; three brothers, Kevin Kaleb Rider, Israel Rider, both of Orangeburg, Terry Kevin Rider Jr. , of Cordova; his grandmother, Lorene Rider, of Cordova.

Friends may call at the residence and at Living Wells Celebration Center in Orangeburg.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Craven Barrs -- White House, Tenn.

Craven Barrs, 73, of White House, Tenn., and formerly of Orangeburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Hendersonville Hospital, Hendersonville, Tenn.

Mr. Barrs was a life member of Progress Lodge 352 F & AM, Orangeburg, and a member of Omar Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his father, Bandy Barrs.

Survivors include his mother, Katie O'Quinn Barrs of Orangeburg; wife, Leola Templeton Barrs of White House, Tenn.; son, Michael (Connie) Barrs of White House, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jonathan Michael and Mary Frances Barrs, both of White House, Tenn.; brothers, Carl V. Barrs of Goose Creek and Mayfield Barrs of Orangeburg.

Remains are at Austin and Bell Funeral Home, 533 Highway 76, White House, TN 37188; (615) 672-5000.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the funeral home.

Mr. James Garner -- Orangeburg

The funeral service for Mr. James Garner, 64, of 664 Dantzler St., Orangeburg, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Henry Damon officiating. Burial will be in the Bethea cemetery, Orangeburg.

Mr. Garner died Friday, Nov. 28, at The Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Lucius and Perry Lee Dickerson Garner. He was born on Dec. 14, 1938, in Orangeburg County. One nephew preceded him in death, Thomas Lenard Strange.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his sister, Ella M. Garner, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Frank (Linda) Garner of Orangeburg and Henry (Betty) Garner of Vance; nieces, Willie Mae (Thomas) Strange of Orangeburg, Stephanie (Anthony) Garner Scott of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., Michele, Latasha, Nyisha, Talina, and Laquayia Strange of Orangeburg,; nephews, Charles, Channing and Andrews, all of Orangeburg; three great-grandnephews, one great-grandniece and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence of his niece, Willie Mae Strange, 664 Dantzler St., Orangeburg, or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.

Frank Hecht Jr. -- Orangeburg

Frank Hecht Jr., 83, of 1235 Dantzler St., Orangeburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Cattle Creek United Methodist Church in Branchville, with the Rev. Jimmy Smoak and the Rev. Robbie Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Nathan Hood, Julius Kizer, Mike Lightfoot, Mike Infinger, Wylie Lewis and Mike Soles. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Gideons International.

The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Mr. Hecht was born May 15, 1920, in Woodberry, N.J. He was the son of the late Frank Hecht Sr. and the late Ethel Mae Hecht. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cattle Creek United Methodist Church, where he was a lay speaker. He was a member of the Gideons International. He was a retired engineer for Utica Tool. He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Arthur Hecht.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elma S. Bonnette Hecht of Orangeburg; two daughters, Jane Roop of Cape May, N.J., and Susan Hecht of Salt Lake City, Utah; three stepsons and stepdaughter-in-laws, Jake and Pam Bonnette of Branchville, Donald and Shannon Bonnette of St. Matthews and Wray and Elaine Bonnette of Orangeburg; one brother; Alfred Hecht of Woodberry, N.J.; sister-in-law, Marion Hecht, of DeLand, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence, 1235 Dantzler St., Orangeburg, and at Thompson Funeral Home Inc.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home.
