Funeral services for Judy Fales Blackwell, 54, were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Eastside Holiness Church. The Revs. I. J. Strickland, James Petty and Steve Winburn officiated with burial in the Clyde Church of God cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blackwell died Thursday, Aug. 11. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late David M. and Sarah Shumate Fales. She was a member of Eastside Holiness Church.

Surviving are her husband, Thurmond Blackwell of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and James Petty of Georgetown, Lisa and Kenneth Polson Jr. of Hartsville, Kellie and Jeremy Polecat of Cherokee, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Johnny Gainey of Hartsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Judy Fales of Hartsville, Michael and Sharon Fales of Hartsville; and grandchildren, Sarah Petty, Zach Polson, Blake Petty.

KATHLEEN O. GRIGGS
Graveside services for Kathleen Outlaw Griggs, 77, were held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Pat Orr officiated, and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.

Mrs. Griggs died Saturday, Aug. 13. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Murray C. and Bessie Lynch Outlaw. She previously worked at Belk 's and Sonoco Products Co.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Wilber Jean McInville of Hartsville; daughters and son-in-law, Charlene Hodges, Judy and Henry Middleton, all of Hartsville; sister, Madie Spencer of Hartsville; stepsons, Clark and Amy Griggs of Raleigh, N.C., Joseph 'Bucky ' and Margie Griggs of Bennettsville, Frankie and Wendy Griggs of Birmingham, Ala., Clifton and Beth Griggs of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Lide B. Outlaw, and sisters, Geraldine Barfield, Mattie Kate Cross and Dorothy Simpson.

ETHEL E. TOLSON
Funeral services for Ethel Edwards Tolson, 87, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at Brown Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Donnie Faulkenberry officiated with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tolson, widow of Albert Tolson, died Friday, Aug. 12. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Maggie Cassidy Edwards.

Surviving are her son, Floyd C. Tolson of McBee; daughters, Diane Byrd of Hartsville, Margaret Perdue of Patrick and Luella Tucker of Olanta.

COKER JONES JR.
Services for Coker E. Jones Sr., 69, were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, from Brown Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Donnie Faulkenberry officiated. Burial will be in the Patrick cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville Chapel.

Mr. Jones, who died Aug. 12, was born in Hartsville, a son of the late Barney and Mary Ann Winburn Jones. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Lee Cranford Jones of Hartsville; sons, William Kenneth (Christine) Jones of Harrisburg, Pa., Coker E. (Susan) Jones Jr. of Hartsville; brother, J.B. Jones of Darlington; sisters, Margaret Hood, Helen Smith, both of Hartsville, Bea Siner, Geneva Barber, both of Darlington; grandchildren, Stephanie Smith of Chesterfield, Katie and Jennifer Jones of Hartsville, Crystal Jones of Georgia, Courtney and Morgan Jones of Harrisburg, Pa.; special grandson, J.R. Jones of Hartsville.

ROSA LEE WINBURN
FLORENCE - A funeral service for Mrs. Rosa Lee Perkinson 'Little Mama ' Winburn, 87, of Florence, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Committal will follow in the church cemetery. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. David Wike. Family members will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at Cain Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Judy Elizabeth Hoffmeyer, 3816 Brickhill Drive, Florence. The family suggests memorials to Ebenezer Baptist Church Library Fund, 524 S. Ebenezer Road, Florence, SC 29501.

Mrs. Winburn, widow of Thomas Perry (T.P.) Perkinson, died Monday, Aug. 15, in a local nursing facility. She was born Sept. 13, 1917, in Hartsville to the late Lee and Rosa Odom Perkinson. She was predeceased by her step-mother, Ruth Ceymour Perkinson; paternal grandparents, John and Jenetta Davis Perkinson; and brother, James L. Perkinson.

Mrs. Winburn was a member for 57 years of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a member of the Molly Watford Sunday School Class.

Among survivors are a son, Thomas Lee (Judy) Winburn; daughters, Nancy Winborn-Doherty and Judy Elizabeth Hoffmeyer, all of Florence; brother, Herbert R. Perkinson of Hartsville; sister, Doris P. Milton of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Thomas M. and Ken Hoffmeyer, Julia Ann Lewis, Debra Williams, Tracy Bond, Suzanne Michaux, Matthew Winburn, Beverly S. Winborne and Holley W. Ramsay; and 15 great-grandchildren.

ELEASE DOVE
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Bertha Elease Watkins Ralley Dove, 81, will be held at 4 p.m. today, Aug. 17, 2005, in the Chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Dove died Monday, Aug. 15, in a local nursing home. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Otic and Jessie Riley Watkins. She is the widow of Robert L. Ralley Sr. and was then married to Roger Dove. Mrs. Dove had retired from GE, where she worked in the quality control department. Mrs. Dove enjoyed baking cakes and crocheting.

Surviving are two sons, Robert L. (Odean) Ralley Jr. of Darlington, Buddy (Lisa) Ralley of Florence; a daughter, Patricia R. Gandy of Darlington; grandchildren, Penny Cox, Perry Rhodes, Chris Gandy, Tasha and Coy Ralley, Beverly and Ashley Ralley, Steven Edwards, Jennifer Butler; a number of great-grandchildren; a stepsister, Alberta Barnes of Bishopville; and a stepbrother, Leslie Davis of Bishopville.

Mrs. Dove was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann R. Edwards.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one 's choice.

DANIEL D. THOMPSON
A graveside service for Daniel Duane Thompson, 69, of Hartsville, will be at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 17, 2005, with full military honors from Sumter Air Force Base Honor Guard in Florence National cemetery. Cain Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Thompson, husband of Betty Collins Thompson, died Saturday, Aug. 13, in a local hospital. He was born May 2, 1936, in Union Town, Pa., to the late Daniel Dutton and Bertha Fike Thompson. Mr. Thompson retired from the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant following 21 years of service which included two tours in Southeast Asia.

Among his survivors, in addition to his wife, are sons, Richard Thompson of Aiea, Hawaii, and Dale Thompson of Huntsville, Ala.; daughters, Dawn Beasley of McBee and Vickie Lockard of Sugar Grove, Ohio; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Bill Thompson of Washington.

Funeral services for Pauline Evelyn Grantham Stokes, 75, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bill Ishman officiated with burial in Westview Memorial Park cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Elim United Methodist Church, c/o the Rev. Edward Herlong, 3900 Oates Highway, Lamar, SC 29069.

Mrs. Stokes, widow of George “Buck” Manuel Stokes, died Monday, Aug. 15. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Polly Barfield Grantham. She was a member of Elim United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother with a heart of gold.

Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Roy Campbell of Hartsville, Timmy and Debbie Windham of Lamar; daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Bob Gandy of Hartsville, Debra and Curtis Amerson of Lamar, Bonnie and Robbie Evans of Effingham; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sonny and Chris Grantham of Hartsville, Billy and Margaret Grantham of Santee, Bratton “Cotton” Grantham of Timmonsville; sister, Mildred Dowling of Lamar; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

RICHARD ALDRICH JR.
McBEE — Graveside services for Richard Aldrich Jr., 79, were held Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at New Hope United Methodist Church cemetery. Services were conducted by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mr. Aldrich died Wednesday, Aug. 10, at his residence in Norwalk, Conn., after an illness. He was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late Richard and Nancy Aldrich Sr. He received his education in the area and graduated from South Carolina State University. Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

Surviving are two daughters, Felecia Aldrich of Seattle, Wash., and Sherrie Aldrich of Norwalk, Conn.; one son, Richard Aldrich II of Norwalk, Conn.; one granddaughter, Sierra Aldrich; seven sisters, Nancy Henry, Hester Aldrich, Rebecca Kelly, Greta Hough, Essie Randall, Lugenia Shipp and Precious Everett; the mother of his children, Parthenia Aldrich; a host of other close relatives and friends.

ANNIE FRESHLEY
Annie Freshley, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 744 S. Sixth St., Hartsville.

MASTER HATCHELL
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Robert Brian Hatchell, 1, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, in the Kistler Chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Hazel Mixon. Burial followed in the Grove Hill cemetery.

Master Hatchell was born in Charleston, a son of Robert William and Kristen Irvine Hatchell.

Survivors include his parents of the home; one brother, Christopher Hatchell of the home; his paternal grandparents, Jack and Donna Hatchell and Renee Sheehan; and his maternal grandparents, Yvonne Clyburn and Michael Irvine.
