LELAND E. MOORE
SANFORD, N.C. - Funeral services for Leland Evon Moore, 45, were held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel in Sanford, N.C. The Rev. Ralph Baker officiated with burial in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mr. Moore died Friday, Feb. 24, at Central Carolina Hospital. He was a native of Hartsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Faith Hallman Moore; his mother, Sadie Yarborough Moore, and brother, Danny Larue Moore.

Survivors include his father, Henry Vance Moore of Hartsville; step-daughter, Pamela Saxman of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Carl V. Moore of Hartsville; sisters, Cindy Evans and Christie Moore, both of Hartsville, and Alice Moore Kelly of Darlington; one grandchild; special friends, Alanis and Taylor Collins and several nieces and nephews.

BUDDY MORELAND
Graveside services for Henry H. 'Buddy' Moreland, 91, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Fairview cemetery, Roanoke, Va. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to the Toms Brook United Methodist Church, Toms Brook, Va.

Mr. Moreland died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. Born in Herndon, Va., he was a son of the late Harry H. and Florence Jolley Moreland. He was a member of Osiris-Pentalpha Masonic Lodge No. 23, Washington, D.C.

Surviving are his wife, Betty H. Welch of Hartsville; nieces and nephews, Jim (Judy) Cox, Henry (Connie) McClanahan, Jane Proctor, Joan Merrill, Allen McClanahan.

EARL DIXON
Edward Earl Dixon, 53, died Thursday, March 2, 2006. Funeral plans will be announced later by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

NETTIE HUGGINS
Graveside services for Nettie Webb Huggins, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 8, 2006, at Magnolia cemetery. The Rev. Tom Rutan will officiate and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends today following the service. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 104 E. Home Ave., Hartsville, SC 29550.

Mrs. Huggins, widower of Heyward Truett and David Huggins, died Sunday, March 5. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late J. K. and Emily Cook Webb. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and retired as a dental assistant after 23 years of working for Dr. J.E. Cannon Jr.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Dorothy Warren of Hartsville; grandchildren and spouse, William and Lou Warren, James and Melinda Warren, all of Hartsville; great-grandchildren, Tommy Warren, Donnie Warren, Joey Warren, Austin Robertson, Whitney Warren.

RANDY JACKSON
Funeral services for the Rev. Randy Jackson, 49, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 8, 2006, at Praise The Lord Ministries. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial cemetery in Bennettsville, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville Chapel.

The Rev. Jackson, who died March 6, was born in Bennettsville, a son of Alice Ruth Hughes Sanders and the late Marrine Jackson. He was a graduate of Bennettsville High School and was founder and pastor of Praise the Lord Ministries.

Surviving are his wife, Diane Bearden Jackson of Hartsville; mother of Blenheim; two brothers, Eric S. Jackson of Wallace, Keith Jackson of Fort Lawn; one half-brother, Richard Jackson of Bennettsville; sister of Patricia McDowell of Bennettsville; half-sister, Leanne Jackson of Bennettsville; niece, Courtney McDowell of Bennettsville. Memorials may be made to Praise The Lord Ministries, PO Box 847, Hartsville, SC 29551.

CHRIS CARTER
Graveside services for Christopher 'Chris' Carter, 40, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Westview Memorial Park cemetery. The Rev. Jim Beck will officiate and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Carter died Saturday, March 4. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Catherine Elizabeth Atkinson Carter and the late James Leslie Carter. He was a kind and considerate person who enjoyed painting.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Evans Carter of Darlington; daughter, Jennifer Keeney of Darlington; mother of Hartsville; brothers, Brian Carter of Hartsville, Brad Carter of Pageland; maternal grandmother, Frances Atkinson of Hartsville.

JAMES JOHNSON JR.
Funeral services for Calhoun James Johnson Jr., 58, were held 3 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at Prospect United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Pat Orr officiated with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson died Saturday, March 4, 2006. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Maysel Mixon Johnson and the late Calhoun James Johnson Sr. He was a loving and giving son and brother and uncle. He loved farming and the outdoors.

Surviving are his mother of Hartsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Al Lundy of Forsyth, Ga., Jo and Carlos Hanna of Florence, Zora and Al Ritter of Roanoke, Va., Cindy and Bobby Griggs of Hartsville, Vandetta 'VJ' Speckman of Fort Mill, Sandra Clodfelter of Lewisville, N.C., Mary Ruth and Gerald Kelly of Hartsville; brother, C. B. Johnson of Pawtucket, R.I. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Emma Jane Mixon, Doris Janiel Johnson, Annie May Bastek, Jessie Wren Mathews; brother, William Lee 'Buck' Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2236 Bethlehem Rd., Hartsville, SC 29550.

HART KELLY
Graveside services for Hart Kelly, 75, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Magnolia cemetery. The Rev. Steve Winburn officiated, and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Mr. Kelly, widow of Bennie Mae Jordan Kelly, died Friday, March 3. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Wylie and Elizabeth Rhodes Kelley.

Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Sharon Kelly, Terry G. and Denise Kelly, all of Hartsville, Thomas D. and Mary Kelly of Florence; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynnette and Toy Dutton, Etral and Steve Shumate, all of Hartsville; sisters, Betty Whitman of Jacksonville, Fla., Frances Kelley of Hartsville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

JULIUS E. TIMMONS JR.
FLORENCE - Graveside services for Julius Eugene Timmons Jr., 71, were held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2006, in Mount Hope cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

Mr. Timmons died Thursday, March 2, in a local hospital after an illness. He was born in Hartsville, a son of the late Julius Eugene Timmons Sr. and Nettie Edwards Timmons. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was retired from Sonoco Products.

Mr. Timmons was a member of Faith Covenant Church. He was also a member of Hartsville Masonic Lodge No. 173 AFM, the Order of the Eastern Star No. 91, and the Sonoco Old Timers Club.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jermaine 'Jeri' Glenn and a brother, William 'Billy' Timmons.

Survivors include his wife, Timmie Chavis Timmons of the home; two sons, Dennis Eugene Timmons of Hartsville and Julius David Timmons of Florence; a daughter, Opal T. Tyner of Hartsville; two step-daughters, Stephanie Ellis of Bishopville and Stacy T. Barnes of Darlington; two sisters, Lucille Lunn and Nettie Elizabeth Gainey, both of Bishopville; three brothers, Thomas Timmons of Monroe Falls, Ohio, Goodman Timmons of Hartsville and Harry Timmons of Tega Cay; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Faith Covenant Church, 1111 W. Interstate Blvd., Florence, SC 29501.

RAY KEMMERLIN
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Ray Allen Kemmerlin, 42, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at First Church of God with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Norman Mitchell and Pastor Donald Deal and directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mr. Kemmerlin died Wednesday, March 1. He was born in Florence County, son of Mary Weatherford K. McQueen and the late Chester McQueen. He was previously employed by Nucor and enjoyed drag racing. Mr. Kemmerlin was a member of First Church of God.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his fiance', Darlene Jackson, and their expected child, a son, Brandon Kemmerlin of Darlington; three daughters, Elizabeth Kemmerlin, Kim (Adam) Buck, Kelly Jackson, all of Darlington; a granddaughter, Makayla Buck; four brothers, David Kemmerlin, Bobby Kemmerlin, Tony (Annette) Kemmerlin, Timmy (Misty) Kemmerlin; a number of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Wade Perkins.

Memorials may be made to First Church of God, 620 N. Main St., Darlington, SC 29532.

EARL DIXON
Funeral services for Edward Earl Dixon, 53, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Pine Ridge Church of God of Prophecy with the Revs. Marvin Griggs and Harold Collins officiating. Burial followed in Westview Memorial Park cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mr. Dixon died Thursday, March 2. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Edward Pearson and Lila Gainey Dixon. He was employed with Gibson Wheel & Alignment.

Surviving are his wife, Jeannette Cole Dixon of Hartsville; sons, Tom (Angelina McIntyre) Thomas, Enos (Karen Dixon) Thomas, Eric (Kelley Morrell) Dixon, all of Hartsville; daughters, Angela (Michael) Brown, Amy (Will Hall) Dixon, both of Hartsville; brothers, Don Dixon of Hartsville, Edward Dixon of Cross Hill; grandchildren, Candy Thomas, Enos Thomas III, Todd Brown, Avery Thomas, Cheyenne Brown, Nicholas Brown, Matthew Hall and Damien Dixon.

GEORGE W. ADDISON
Funeral services for George Washington Addison were held on Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Liberty Christian Assembly Church beginning at 3 p.m. The burial will follow at the Kelleybell United Methodist Church cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home, Inc. Elder Hezekiah Davis will officiate the service.

Mr. Addison was born March 6, 1926, in Hartsville, in the Kelleytown Community. He was a son of the late Eddie and Carrie Graham Addison and was educated in the public schools of Darlington County. Mr. Addison was first a member of Kelleybell United Methodist Church but attended other churches as well. He was currently attending Liberty Christian Assembly Church in Darlington. Mr. Addison was a member of William Temple Lodge No. 364 of Ashland for more than 50 years.

Mr. Addison worked as a farmer for many years for the Gilbert and Saleeby families. He also enjoyed landscaping and other things associated with the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting. Church was his first love and he always enjoyed church services.

Mr. Addison loved his family and really enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially liked having dinner with his family at the Thunderbird. He was married to the former Lucinda Williams on Aug. 7, 1948, and they were the proud parents of 17 children. Eight of his children preceded him in death.

Surviving to cherish the loving memories of Mr. George Washington Addison include his wife of nearly 58 years, Lucinda Addison of Hartsville; three sons, Eddie (Edith) Addison of Sumter, Robert Addison and Enoch Addison, both of Hartsville; six daughters, Shirley (Isaiah) Burton of Lydia, Sarah (the Rev. Ralph, deceased) Friday of Patrick, Catherine (David) Belin, Linda (Joseph) Peterson, Gladys Brown, and Edith (Matthew) Brown, all of Hartsville; six brothers, Enoch Addison, Wilford (Verlene) Addison both of Paterson, N.J., Robert Addison of Hartsville, Zinnerman Addison and Jesse Addison, both of Washington, D.C., and Herbert Addison of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Edna Addison of Hartsville; four brothers-in-law, Joseph Williams, Matthew Williams, Ronnie Williams and June Williams, all of New Jersey; 24 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and very dear friends.

BRIAN JOHNSON
Mass of Christian burial for Brian Joseph Johnson, 28, who died March 7, will be today, March 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Arturo Dalupang will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service was held Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. by Deacon Larkin.

Brian was born in Cheraw, a son of James C. (Jimmy) and Veronica Quinn Johnson. He was a graduate of Hartsville High School and was attending Florence-Darlington Technical College.

Surviving are his parents of Hartsville; three brothers: Timothy C. Johnson of Florence, Steven J. (Gaybie) Johnson of Charlotte, Christopher (Elizabeth) Johnso of Hartsville. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Charity of Charleston, 1662 Ingram Road, Charleston, SC 29407.

CORNELL RICHARDSON
Funeral services for Cornell Richardson, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Richardson died Tuesday, March 7, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Adolphus and Rosa Cooper Richardson. He received his education in the public schools in the Darlington County system and was graduate of South Carolina State University.

Mr. Richardson was a retired employee with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, various civic, fraternal organizations and church organizations. He was also a member of Masonic Myrtle Lodge No. 6411.

Surviving are his wife, Viola Richardson of Hartsville; four sons, Cornell (Judy) Richardson Jr., of Anderson, Alfred Richardson of Summerville, Ivy (Lisa) Richardson of Buford, Ga., and Marck (Lynn) Richardson of Sugar Hill, Ga.; three siblings, Toynetta McGraw of Columbia, Rosebud Beverly of Springfield, Va., and Clayton Richardson of Hartsville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
