MICHAEL RAY OUSLEY
FLORENCE - Funeral services for Michael Ray 'Mike' Ousley, 59, were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006, in First Baptist Church, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home with burial following in Florence Memory Gardens.

Mr. Ousley died Sunday, April 23, in a local hospital after an illness. He was born in Hartsville, a son of the late James Franklin Ousley Jr. and Lois Gent Ousley. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a nursing degree and was a registered nurse and the Director of Case Management at Regency Hospital in Florence. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and a Sunday school teacher in the Youth Department.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Smith Ousley of Florence; a son, Michael Todd (Missy) Ousley of Florence; a daughter, Traci Renee Ousley of Murrells Inlet; two step-sons, Joseph Shawn (Jamie) McClam of Florence and David Patrick (Lindsay) McClam of Beaufort; a step-daughter, Lillian Ashlee Lawhon of Florence; a brother, James F. (Joyce) Ousley III of Hartsville and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Brazil Mission Fund, 300 S. Irby St., Florence, SC 29501.

ALDA E. BICKLEY
LEXINGTON - Services for Alda Elizabeth Shealy Bickley, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 26, 2006, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Karen Young. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Lutheran Church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 10000 Broad River, Irmo, SC 29063.

Mrs. Bickle was born July 27, 1914, the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison 'Harry' Shealy and Ploma Idalia Lucas Shealy. She was the widow of Henry Jacob Bickley, to whom she was married for 62 years. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Bickley began music study at a young age and was a gifted piano player. She married on July 21, 1935 and three children were born to this union. Throughout her life, Mrs. Bickley enjoyed music, flower gardening, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Surviving to cherish her memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Malcolm Ouzts of Cayce, Faye and Dick Stinson of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Jake and Cathey Bickley of Irmo; grandchildren, Allen and Debbie Ouzts, Karen and Hal Taylor, Teresa Ouzts, Clint Stinson and Caroline and Jeff Privette; great grandchildren, Kaylin and McKenzie Ouzts, Reece and Rachel Taylor, Matthew Privette and Noah Evans.

She was predeceased by her sister, Elsie Shealy Looney.

MILTON I. ROBERTSON
SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. - Funeral services for Milton Irven Robertson, 92, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2006, in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Steven Pendley officiating. Interment followed in Robertson County Memorial Gardens with Keith Scholar, J. L. Bagwell, Dennis Parker, Buddy Bourne, Mark Cox, Larry Cox Jr., Ted Paisley, Allen Robertson, Dale Berry and Neil Bourne serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Robertson passed away Friday, April 21, at North Crest Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Dec. 30, 1913, in Robertson County, Tenn., to the late James Richard and Sara Hockersmith Robertson. He was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Richard and Sarah Ockersmith Robertson; wife, Lois Ayers Robertson; son, Phillip Wayne Robertson; granddaughter, Angela Lynette Robertson; great-granddaughter, Courtney Renee Robertson; grandson-in-law, Mike Redding; brothers, Elvis, Zleman, J. B. and James Robertson; sister, Ola Mae Glinard.

He is survived by sons, Eugene (Geraldine) Robertson of Springfield and Terry (Lucia) Robertson of Hartsville; daughter, Connie (Chuck) Melvin of Springfield; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Center Point Baptist Church.

J. HARVEY WELBORN
GREENVILLE - Funeral services for James Harvey Welborn, 81, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, in the Mausoleum of Greenville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gareth Scott officiating. Entombment will follow.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Welborn died Monday, April 24, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late William Harvey and Ella Wyatt Welborn. He retired as comptroller for Milliken Corporation after 35 years of service and was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps in China. Mr. Welborn was a graduate of the University of South Carolina.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Gentry Welborn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Tracey Welborn of Hartsville, and Gary and Kay Welborn of LaGrange, Ga.; a sister, Alice W. Gentry of Inman; and two grandsons, Matthew Gregory Welborn of New York City, and Taylor G. Welborn of LaGrange. In addition to his parents, Mr. Welborn was predeceased by two brothers, William Wyatt Welborn and Benjamin Welborn, and by two sisters, Ella Mae Hendrix and Mildred W. Byrd.

Memorials may be made to the Hartsville Veterans Memorial, PO Drawer 2497, Hartsville, SC 29551. Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, is assisting the family with arrangements.

LUCAS B. JOHNSON
Funeral services for Lucas Benjamin Johnson, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in Magnolia cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, April 26, from 5-7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson, widower of Lorene Campbell Johnson, died Monday, April 24. Born in Chesterfield County, he was a son of the late Warren A. and Bessie Shaw Johnson. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Phyllis Johnson of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Raeford Kirven of Hartsville; grandchildren, Derrick Kirven, Wendy Yarbrough, Frankie Johnson, Tiffany Aldrich, Brandy Johnson, Sandy Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Yarbrough, Carley Yarbrough, Brady Aldrich. He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

MARY J. WATERS
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Mary J. Waters, 65, will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 26, 2006, at Nazareth New Apostolic Church in Jesus Christ Inc. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.

Mrs. Waters died Thursday, April 20, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late James P. and Willie Mae Peterson Samuel. She received her education in the public school system in the area. Mrs. Waters was a retired employee with the Department of Social Services in New York and was a member of Nazareth New Apostolic Church in Jesus Christ.

Surviving are three sisters, Lucille Samuel Jones of Darlington, Ella Mae Jackson and Lula Maxine (John) Daniels; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.

EVA MAE CROXTON
Services for Eva Mae Twitty Croxton, 90, who died April 21, were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia cemetery.

Mrs. Croxton was born in Kershaw, a daughter of the late George and Sallie Plyler Twitty.

Surviving are daughters, Joyce Robertson Seigo of Hartsville and Barbara Ann Suttle of Kingston, Tenn.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

JANIE D. RHODES
Funeral services for Janie Della Rhodes were held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at 4 p.m. at the Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. The burial followed in the Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. Minister Margie McDonald officiated the service.

Mrs. Rhodes was born on May 27, 1927, in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Almetta Revel Jackson and Willie Jackson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Darlington County. She departed this life on April 20 after a long illness.

'Della, ' as she was affectionately known, was loved by all who knew her. She was a loving and caring individual who cared dearly for her family and friends alike. She also possessed a remarkable sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Columbus McNeil, Leroy Jackson and Annie Mae Campbell. Four of her children also predeceased her, Talbert, Donnie Ray, Ramsey and Dennis Jackson.

Surviving to cherish the loving memory of Janie Della Rhodes are her children, Almetta Jackson and Kaylor (Jimmy) Bowles, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Roosevelt (Cynthia) Robinson Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., Dale (James) Brooks, Patsy (the late Lee) Smith, Wanda (Elijah) Hicks, Neecy Rhodes, Debra Jackson, Sylvester Jackson, Tammie (Robert) Nettles and Terry Lee Rhodes, all of Hartsville; one sister, Margaret (the late Henry) Benjamin of Darlington; one brother, Willie (Eunice) Jackson of Hartsville; special grandchildren, Troy Jackson, Evelyn Jackson and Tasha (Shelton) Sutton, all of Hartsville; 34 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, Lakiah Jackson; her godson, Ralph Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and very dear friends.

VIVIAN K. KELLEY
Graveside services for Vivian King Kelley, 85, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Hopper officiated, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Box 56, Lydia, SC 29079.

Mrs. Kelley died Tuesday, April 25. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late Henry Dantzler and Edell McNeese King. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Columbia College.

Surviving are her husband, James Kelley of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Howard Harrison of Charleston; grandchildren, Anna Vivian Harrison and Andrew Franklin Harrison. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack King; sisters, Doris King and Hazel Lewis.

SELMA MULLIS
Funeral services for Selma Gopfert Mullis, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the First Baptist Church Chapel. The Revs. Tom Rutan and Dr. Aubrey Floyd will officiate with burial in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends tonight, April 28, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 104 E. Home Ave., Hartsville SC 29550.

Mrs. Mullis, widow of Harold J. Mullis, died Wednesday, April 26. Born in Sanford, N.C., she was a daughter of the late George Frederick and Mary Stansill Gopfert. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was retired as manager of the Hartsville High School cafeteria.

Surviving are her son and daughters-in-law, Al and Sheila Mullis of Hartsville; Anne Mullis of Jamestown, N.C.; grandchildren, Debbie Anderson, Cathy Stogner, Blake Buchanan, Corey Buchanan; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Mullis.

ELNORA BENJAMIN
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Elnora Benjamin, 56, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Ms. Benjamin died Friday, April 21, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of Reatha Benjamin and the late Preston Hunter Sr. She received her education in the Darlington County public school system and was a member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving other than her mother, Reath Benjamin of Darlington, are two sons, Kendrick (Shaleetha) Benjamin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Derrick Benjamin of Darlington; five grandchildren, Shaquevia Davis, Keymoni Benjamin, Kyrese Benjamin, Keyonc Benjamin and Kiymoni Benjamin, all of Fayetteville, N.C.; 10 siblings, Pearlie (Michael) Floyd and Alphonza (Minetta) Benjamin, both of Darlington, Willie Ervin (Elizabeth) Smith of Hartsville, Margaret (Mitchell) Flynn, Jacqueline (Mack Jr.) Williamson, Joyce (Billy) Sanders, all of Darlington, Vallaree Hunter, Slena Slater of Hartsville, Mary Hunter and Willie Hunter, both of Charlotte, N.C.; four aunts, Naomi B. Sanders and Nettie Grant, both of Darlington, Lillian Broderick of Society Hill, and Magnolia Littles of Hartsville; three uncles, Ike Benjamin of Florence, George W. Hunter of Darlington and James Hunter of Society Hill; a special friend, Charles Robinson Jr. of Society Hill; a devoted nephew, Marcus Floyd of Darlington; one goddaughter, Jameeka Burgess of Society Hill; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

SANFORD WINGARD
Funeral services for Sanford Ray Wingard, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kevin Powers will officiate with burial in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends today, April 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, Box 7044, Columbia SC 29202 or Our Shepherd Church Memorial Fund, 1410 151 W. Bobo Newsome Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550.

Mr. Wingard died Wednesday, April 26. Born in Hartley, Del., he was a son of the late Tobias and Bessie Rodda Wingard. He was a faithful member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the VFW. He was retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. with 38 years of service and was a life member of Telephone Pioneers. He lived in Newark, Del., where he was past president of the Lions, charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and past president of Newark Little League.

Surviving are his wife, Marie McGinnis Wingard of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Gail Wingard of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Kenny Williams of Aynor; sister, Bea Strahle of Milford, Del.; grandsons and spouses, Daniel (Jill) Wingard of Silver Spring, Md., Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Wingard of Greenville, David Wingard of Clemson, Cale Williams of Aynor, Josh Williams of Aynor.

PAUL C. HALL
Funeral services for Paul C. Hall, 78, will be held Sunday, April 30, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church. The Revs. Randy Gullege and Jackie Hinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Gum Branch Baptist Church cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hall, widower of Aline Crowley Hall, died April 27. He was born in Kershaw County, a son of the late Cosmore A. and Polly Baker Hall. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school director, chairman of Grounds Committee and many other committees of the church. He was employed with Hartsville Mills for 19 years and retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 21 years of service.

Surviving are a son, Paul J. Hall, Hartsville; daughters, Jan (Buddy) Osborne, Hartsville, Debbie (Tony) Hardin, Jacksonville, N.C.; brother, Jerry Hall, Cassatt; sisters, Polly Ann Leaird, Katie Sue Langley, Cassatt, Nancy Jackson, Lugoff; grandchildren, Rodney Tiller, Logan and Marie Hall, Hartsville, Joshua and Sarah Hardin, Jacksonville, N.C.; special friend, Virginia Outlaw, McBee.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dot West.

ROBERT AARON
LAMAR - Mr. Robert Aaron, 80, died on Monday, April 24, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The family will receive friends at the residence. Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Lamar is in charge of all arrangements.

ROBERT AARON
LAMAR - Funeral services for Robert Aaron were held on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Church of God in Lamar. The burial followed in the Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. The Rev. Levern Kirkland, the pastor of the Church of God, officiated the service.

Mr. Aaron was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Darlington County, a son of the late John Aaron and Roxie Howard Aaron. He was educated in the public schools of the county. Early in life he worked as a farmer in the county of his birth and was a member of the Church of God in Lamar. Mr. Aaron was joined in holy matrimony to the former Lula Woods, and from this union five children were born.

In the early 1960s, he and his family relocated to New York. His work ethic allowed him to succeed at many occupations, including shipping clerk, warehouseman and equipment operator. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters where he rendered dedicated service and remained a member in good standing until his retirement in 1985. He and his family returned to South Carolina in 1992 and enjoyed his life and retirement.

His everlasting love and concern for his family will never be forgotten. He extended his home with an open heart to others in need and those who know and love him will agree that he was a father and a friend to all. Two of his sisters, Nonie Mae Dove and Albertha Robinson and two of his brothers, Alonzo Aaron and Cornell Aaron preceded him in death. One of his sons, Robert L. Aaron and an infant daughter also predeceased him.

Surviving to cherish the loving memory and continue the legacy of Robert Aaron include his wife, Lula Mae Aaron; two sons, Herbert L. (Grace K.) Aaron and Cornelius (Willetta) Aaron; two daughters, Genesis (Raymond) Burbridge and Brenda J. (Leroy) Rouse; two brothers, Charles Lee Aaron and Joseph Aaron; three sisters, Viola Lighty, Josephine Jackson and Johnnie Mae Morales; his daughter-in-law, Ruth Aaron, his brother-in-law, Burnett Woods; a special aunt, Helen Aaron; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and very dear friends.
