YORK — Julia Ann Huckaby Jackson - remembered for her love of God, Her Family, and friends - age 42, of 20 Smith Street, York, SC, died Sunday, January 9, 2005, in Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia, NC. She was born December 22, 1962, in Newton, NC, to Rev. Riley Huckaby and Joan Hughes Huckaby. She was a member of First Baptist Church York, York, SC. She was a homemaker and also worked in Surgery at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC, for 12 years. Her spouse was Todd Alan Jackson.

She is survived by Joan Hughes Huckaby (mother) of Lexington, SC, Rev. Riley Huckaby (father) of Lexington, SC, Todd Alan Jackson (spouse) of York, SC, Sara Jackson (daughter) of York, SC, Olivia Jackson (daughter) of York, SC, Danny Jackson (son) of York, SC, Charlie Jackson (son) of York, SC, Danny Huckaby (brother) and his wife Judy of Moncks Corner, SC, Jerry Huckaby (brother) and his wife Gail of Columbia, SC, Riley Huckaby, Jr., (brother) and his wife Amy of Fort Mill, SC, and Leslie Huckaby Miller (sister) and her husband Mike of Rock Hill, SC.

She was a graduate of Lexington High School in 1981, and The Baptist School of Nursing to become a Surgical Tech.

Visitation will be held at The First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service is Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church York in York.

Officiant: Dr. Randy Gardner and Rev. Marion Ringer.

Place of interment: Rose Hill Cemetery, York, SC.

Memorials: Julia Ann H. Jackson Memorial Fund, c/o Bratton Funeral Home, P.O. Box 340, York, SC 29745.

W. Alex Black

LEXINGTON — Memorial services for Walter “Alex” Black, 97, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2005, at Westminister Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Rd., Columbia, SC 29210 or Presbyterian Home Endowment Fund, PO Box 210037, Columbia, SC 29221-0037.

Mr. Black died Monday, January 10, 2005. He was the son of the late George A. and Fannie Edge Black. He was a charter member of Westminister Presybterian Church where he served as an Elder, and was voted Elder Emeritus. He graduated from Presybterian College with a BA degree and served in the United States Naval Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Anderson Black of Lexington; stepdaughter, Nancy Anderson of Columbia; stepson, John S. Anderson (Mary) of Columbia; sisters, Frances B. Martin of Clinton, and Mary D. Lawter of Greenville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, G. Arthur Black and Butler W. Black.

HOLLY HILL — Services for Annie Lou Infinger Page, 61, are 11 a.m. Wednesday (visitation 7-9 tonight) at Avinger Funeral Home with burial in Holly Hill Cemetery. Born in Harleyville to George and Julia Risher Infinger, she died Jan. 10, 2005. Surviving are husband, Lester; son, Keith; grandson, Kaleb; siblings, Ruth Harberson, Bessie Jackson, Georgia Felder, Matilda Mizell, Allen, Richard, Douglas Infinger.

GREENWOOD — Services for Wayne Ellis McKinney Sr., 62, 3 p.m. today (2 p.m. visitation) at Blyth Funeral Home; burial: Oakbrook Memorial Park. Born in Greenwood Co. to J.B. and Louise Fox McKinney, he died Jan. 9, 2005. Surviving: father; wife, Samatha Kerr McKinney; children, Wayne Jr., Shean, James, McKinney, Terry Banks, Melissa McFarland, Robbie Coker, Annette Holmes, Roxanne Crooms; others.

Rachael Durr

ST. GEORGE — Rachael Kathryn Betsill Durr of 214 Horse Trail Road, St. George, widow of Carlisle Haskell Durr, passed away Saturday evening, January 8, 2005, in the Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. George United Methodist Church with Dr. Wash Belangia, Rev. Edward Davidson and Rev. Bundy Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Durr, Cody Durr, Trent King, Walker Sojourner, Ashleigh Brown, Trey Frick, Dave Sojourner, Ron Tripp and Clay King. Born February 4, 1910, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Betsill and Mabel Byrd Betsill of Orangeburg. She attended nurses training at the old Orangeburg Hospital started by the late Dr. Charles A. Mobley. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Durr Sojourner and her husband, David, of St. George, her son, Carlisle Hampton Durr and his wife, Frances, of St. George; a daughter-in-law, Mary Durr Floyd and her husband, Ken, of Taylors, SC; grandchildren, Mrs. Claude (Dianne) Durr, Carl (Tamara) Durr and Karen (Clay) King, all of St. George, Dave (Julianne) Sojourner of Columbia, Ruthie (Ron) Tripp of Mt. Pleasant, Amy (Ashleigh) Brown of Irmo and Jill (Trey) Frick of Greer; great-grandchildren, Travis Durr, Cody Durr, Jennifer Durr, Trent King, Kala King, Walker Sojourner, Ellis Sojourner, Sojourner Tripp, Courtney Brown, Zackary Brown, Meredith Frick, Samuel Frick, and Caroline Frick; sisters, Ann Dukes and Ruby Betsill, both of Orangeburg; sisters-in-law, Winnie Betsill and Henrietta Betsill. She was predeceased by her youngest son, John Allen Durr, of Taylors, and her oldest grandson, Claude Durr, of St. George, three brothers, Tony, Bill, and Jack Betsill, three sisters, Billie Paulhamus, Janie Skelton, and Connie Eckols. She was a member of St. George United Methodist Church and Carrie Berry Circle. She assisted her husband with the care of Indian Field Camp Ground for over 50 years. William Drawdy

EASTOVER — Services for William C. Drawdy, 79, will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Laverne Hancock. Burial will be in Bethany Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 301, Florence County, S.C. at 3:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Steven Hicks, Josh Pate, Don Drawdy, Buck Williams, Mike Allen, and Mack Yelton. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Mt. Elon Baptist Church, 718 Mt. Elon Church Rd., Hopkins, S.C. 29061, or to Residence Social Activities Fund of Ridgeview Manor, 124 Ridge Rd., Hopkins, S.C. 29061.

Mr. Drawdy died Sunday, January 9, 2005. Born in Richland County, he was the son of the late William and Ezzie Wilson Drawdy. He was a veteran of the US Navy, and retired from Dorn Veterans Hospital after 34 years of service. He attended Mt. Elon Baptist Church.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Marjorie P. Hicks Drawdy of the home; daughter, Joan D. Fortner of Elgin, S.C.; three stepchildren, Cathy Hicks Pate and her husband, Lewis of Coward, S.C., Ronald G. Hicks and his wife, Betty of Hopkins, and Terry O. Hicks and his wife, Dianne of Sumter, S.C.; two grandchildren, Toby Fortner and Alisha Fortner; four great-grandchildren, Troy Fortner, Jake Fortner, Mac LowRance and Cameron LowRance; five stepgrandchildren, Dana Hicks (Larry) Kalin; Stacey Hicks, Ronald Barry (Christina) Hicks, Steven Hicks, and Josh Pate; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dallas Kalin, Whitleigh Kalin and Sara Julia Hicks; sister, Willie Mae Livingston; brothers, Frank Drawdy and Luther Drawdy. He was predeceased by sisters, Carolyn Chambers and Catherine Sneed.

The family would like to thank the staff and workers at Ridgeview Manor Nursing Home, Richland Memorial Hospital Hospice, Ascension Hospice and VA Home Health Care for their services.

Henry Chapman

HARTSVILLE — Graveside service for Henry D. Chapman, 87, is Wednesday at 4 p.m. in New Providence Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday 6-8 at Norton Funeral Home. Born in Darlington Co., he was a son of the late Ed & Gertrude Chapman. Surviving: children, Annette, Diane, Ted, Darrell, Donnie, Dewitt, Alton, David, Dennis, W.C. Chapman, Janice Gregory & Ceil Weatherford; 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren.

Elsie Beard

DENMARK — Funeral service for Elsie Gray Beard of Denmark will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Ghents Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremiah Henderson and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Mercer Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Ghents Branch Baptist Church Family Life Center, 886 Ghents Branch Road, Denmark, SC 29042 or Relay for Life, c/o Ghents Branch Baptist Church.

Mrs. Beard died January 10, 2005 in Lexington Medical Center.

She was born April 3, 1945, in Denmark, a daughter of the late John U. and Annie Laurie Gillam Gray. She was a retired Business Associate with Bamberg County Dept. of Social Services and was a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church, where she was the church organist.

Surviving are her husband, Danny Beard of Denmark; a son, Mark and his wife, Lisa Beard of Orangeburg; a daughter, Karen and her husband, Trent Rentz of Ehrhardt; a brother, William H. Gray of Bamberg; grandchildren, Kayla Beard, Kaitlyn and Barrett Rentz.

Rossie Ann Beck

COLUMBIA — Mrs. Rossie Ann Beck, 51, died on January 9, 2005 of an extended illness.

Born in Lincoln County, N.C., she was a daughter of Betty Green Smith and the late Walter Smith. She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and was a longtime volunteer member of Columbia’s Ambassador’s Palmetto Health Foundation. She was a current employee of the University of South Carolina and formerly of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History.

She is survived by her husband, William Beck; four children, Stephanie Beck (US Marine Corps), Bruce Beck (US Army), Jessica Beck, and John Beck; daughter-in-law, Kelly Lilly Beck; sister, LaDonna Payseur and her husband, Dennis Payseur; brothers, Mike Smith and his wife, Chris Smith, and Rick Smith and his wife, Joey Smith; one grandchild; father and mother-in-law, Don and Mimi Beck; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Pisgah United Methodist Church, Lincolnton, N.C. at 3 p.m. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Palmetto Health Foundation.

LEXINGTON — Services with burial for Gloria L. Lavington will be 3 p.m. today at New Mt. Zion AME Church. Greater Columbia Funeral Services, Columbia, is in charge. Born in Lexington to Preston and Annie-Maude Leaphart, she died Jan. 6, 2005. Surviving: sons, Orlando, Maurice and Jehovah Lavington; siblings, Frank, Timothy, Anne, Alzalee, Shirley, Sylvia, Alfonzia, Donald, David, Tammy.
