Charlie Sanders

LEESVILLE — Services for Charlie Owens Sanders, 72, of Leesville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2005, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. William Bishop. Burial will follow in Convent Baptist Church Cemetery, Leesville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Sanders died Wednesday, January 19, 2005. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Charlie E. and Quirlie S. Shannon Sanders. He was a lifetime area resident and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Corley Sanders of Leesville; daughters, Jennifer S. Bell of Lexington, Rebecca S. and Bruce K. Brazell of Wagener; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Ray and Kathy Sanders of Ridgeway, Stanley W. Sanders of Leesville; sisters, Edna S. Burks and Ann S. Bishop, both of Leesville; brother, George E. Sanders of Leesville; grandchildren, Tasha M. Sanders, Wydette Renee Sanders, Rebecca Dawn Brazell, Travis Ryan Sanders, Christopher A. Bell; and great grandson, Jackson Carl Wayne Chaney.

Julia Scupp

WHITE ROCK — Services for Julia Ann Papp Scupp, 89, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2005, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church with interment in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is in charge. Memorials may be made to American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund, 2751 Bull St., Columbia, SC 29201.

Mrs. Scupp widow of Edwin J. Scupp, Sr., died, Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she was the daughter of the late J. Papp and Mary Papp. She was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Emerick of Irmo, and Ed Scupp of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Tracy Taylor, Adrienne Gillian, Dirk Emerick, Julie Dumlao, Wendy Johnson, Darla Skipper; and seven great-grandchildren.

Myrtle H. Garvin
March 25, 1924 - November 21, 2004

KITCHINGS MILL - Mrs. Myrtle Heath Garvin, 80, entered into rest Sunday November 21st .

Mrs. Garvin was born in Aiken County. She was the daughter of the late Portman and Dora Owens Heath. Mrs. Garvin was the beloved wife of the late Ray P. Garvin and also preceded in death by son Gene Garvin, sister Helen H. Huff, and brothers Randolph, Harry, Edgar, Haskell, Jessie, and Robert Heath. Mrs. Garvin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wagener. Mrs. Garvin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Merry Beth Garvin of Kitchings Mill, daughter-in-law Pam Garvin of Wagener, grandchildren Tom R. Garvin II and wife Stacy of Springfield, Rae Leigh Garvin Warner and husband Kevin of Kitchings Mill, Gregg Garvin of Columbia, Chad and Troy Carpenter of Wagener, great grandchildren Trent, Catherine and Megan Garvin, brother-in-law Edwin Garvin of Aiken and sister-in-law Virginia Thomas of Walterboro and special friend Toni Beam.

The family of Mrs. Garvin expresses their sincerest thanks to the staff of Pepper Hill Nursing Center for their devoted and loving care. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 23rd from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 South Main St, Wagener (803) 564-5333. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Family Life Center P.O. Box 398 Wagener, S.C. 29164. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 24th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wagener. Burial will be in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. David Robinson will officiate.

Fern H. "Monk" Garvin
November 24, 1920 - November 29, 2004

WAGENER - Mr. Fern Hansen "Monk" Garvin, 84, entered into rest Monday, November 29th, 2004.

Mr. Garvin was born in Aiken County. He was the son of the late Robert Wesley and Minerva Savannah Poole Garvin. He was preceded in death by his son Richard Allen Garvin and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Garvin was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Mr. Garvin is survived by a wife of 56 years, Ruth B. Garvin of Wagener, several nieces and nephews and, special friend Bobby Hydrick.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, December 2nd at the Wagener Cemetery with the Rev. Dave Robinson officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1st at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 South Main St., Wagener (803) 564-5333. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of S. C. at 500 Taylor St. Ste. 101, Columbia, SC 29201-3000.

Myra C. Poole
August 30, 1929 - November 27, 2004

SALLEY - Mrs. Myra Louise Cooper Poole, 75, entered into rest Saturday November 27th, 2004.

Mrs. Poole was born in Aiken County. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lula Cooper Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Riley Poole and brother Otis Cooper. She was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Poole is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Jennie and Sammy Hydrick, Marie and David Malatesta, Libby and Don Callahan, son and daughter-in-law James Ray and Rhonda Poole all of Salley, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sisters Mary Ellen Jeffcoat and Lula Bell Senn of Wagener, sisters and brothers-in-law Rachel and M. C. Poole of Perry, Katie Ruth and Larry Hamilton of Troy, N. C., brother and sister-in-law John R. and Hazel Cooper of Perry and Aunt Reba Ennis of Perry.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 28th from 6 to 8 p.m., Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 South Main St., Wagener, S.C. (803) 564-5333.

The Funeral Service will be Monday, November 29th at 4:00 p.m., Clinton United Methodist Church with the Reverend David Williamson officiating. Mrs. Poole will be placed in the church at 3:00 p.m.. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Clinton United Methodist Church at 333 Hollow Creek Road, Salley, S.C. 29137 or the charity of choice.

Budlow B. Busbee

July 31, 1925-Dec. 1, 2004

WAGENER - Mr. Budlow Bertrand Busbee, 79, entered into rest Wednesday, December 1st, 2004.

Mr. Busbee was born in Edgefield County. He was the son of the late Coy and Florida Ann Lamb Busbee. He was also preceded in death by his brother Harold Busbee. Mr. Busbee was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII where he served in an Engineering Battalion. He was a member of Bethcar Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He retired from the Clearwater Finishing Plant after 27 years of service.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Ruthie Mae Busbee, son and daughter-in-law Jimmy J. and Lois Ann Busbee, daughters and sons-in-law Janie Ruth and Douglas Shumpert and, Robin and Danny McCormick, grandchildren Joseph Anthony Farkas and, Dana and Mark Arbaugh, 5 great grandchildren, sister Margie Kneece, sister-in-law June Busbee and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 3rd at Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 South Main St., Wagener (803) 564-5333. Funeral Service will be Saturday December 4th at 3:00 p.m. in the Bethcar Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Addy and the Rev. Olin Sizemore officiating. Mr. Busbee will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bethcar Baptist Church at P.O. Box 546, Wagener, SC 29164.

Grace Mize Fredrick
June 25, 1947 - December 1, 2004

WAGENER - A Service to Honor and Celebrate the Life of Mrs. Grace Mize Frederick, of Lake Edisto in Wagener will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11th at the Swansea First Baptist Church, 145 South Church St. The Rev. Terry C. Wilder and the Rev. Larry Hays will officiate. Memorials of Love are asked to be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, S. C. Chapter at 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, S. C. 29063 of The Swansea First Baptist Church at P. O. Box 550, Swansea, S. C. 29160.

Mrs. Frederick was born in Charleston. She was the daughter of Mrs. Helen Wilkins Myers and the late Carl Mize. She was a member of Swansea First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Frederick is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 22 1/2 years, Bobby Frederick, her mother, brothers and sisters-in-law Grier Mize of Bishopville, Matt and Jackie Mize of Columbia, Carl H. and Caroline Mize of Mt. Pleasant, sister Betsy Petitt of Orlando, FL. and, nephew Todd Mize of South Congaree.

Heyward F. Clamp, Sr.
September 7, 1916- December 6, 2004

EDISTO ISLAND - Mr. Heyward Felton Clamp, Sr., 88, of 1370 Highway 174, Edisto Island and formerly of Salley entered into rest Monday, December 6th. Graveside Service will be Thursday, December 9th at 2 p.m. in the Salley Oak View Cemetery. Rev. Tony Neal and Rev. Henry Cooper will officiate.

Mr. Clamp was a member of Salley Baptist Church. He was retired from Savannah River Plant, he was also a farmer and World War II Veteran. He was an U. S. Army Sergeant and Drill Instructor. His company went ashore on the beach of Normandy, fought at the Battle of The Bulge, and Mr. Clamp was a recipient of 2 Bronze Stars.

Mr. Clamp was the husband of the late Esther Flora Long Clamp. He was the son of the late James Felton and Minnie Bell Chandler Clamp.

Mr. Clamp is survived by his two sons and daughters in-law, Heyward F. Clamp, Jr and wife Sharon and Teddy L. Clamp and wife Brenda all of Edisto Island, and grandchildren; Jessica Susan Clamp, Melissa Anne Clamp, Lucky William Baker, Sharon Anne Rauch, and great grandchild Stephanie Rauch, and sister, Edieth C. Watts of Pageland, numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Salley Oaklawn Cemetery or the Old Salley School Museum, P. O. Box 441, Salley, S. C. 29137. Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 South Main St., Wagener is in charge of services.
