L.C. Quattlebaum

SALUDA — Lewis Curtis “L.C.” Quattlebaum, son of Lewis Curtis and Maude Eva Eubanks Quattlebaum, died February 15th at his residence after a brief illness surrounded by his family and special K-9 friend, Chance.

Funeral services will be held at Sardis Baptist Church, Thursday, February 17, at 2 P.M. by Rev. Dennis Campbell, Rev. Francis Miller and lifetime friend, Bill Amick. Burial following in the Sardis Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 P.M., February 16, at Ramey Funeral Home.

L.C. was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge Saluda 103 AFM. He was a retired structural ironworker and owner of Little River Landing.

Surviving are his wife, Marguerite Miller Quattlebaum, sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Gwinn and Tammy, Lewis Russell and Sallie, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jacob) Starnes, Jesse, Vance and Zena Quattlebaum, great-grandchildren, Jacob and Trenton Starnes, brother, Fred Quattlebaum of Saluda, sister, Lois Maffett of Modoc and Ruth Edwards of Johnston.

Predeceased by his son, Dennis Audwin and siblings, Floyd, Elton, Lynwood, Melvin and sister, Lee.

Ramey Funeral home is in charge.

Wilbert Senn

LEESVILLE — Wilbert C. Senn, 87, of Leesville, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Guy Crews officiating. Pallbearers will be E.M. Clark, Harvey Amick, Duane Steven, Henry Hall, Johnny Summer and Labon Ricard.

Mr. Senn was born in Leesville to Clarence Shelton and Quilla Lilla Hite Senn. He was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church. He was a carpenter.

Surviving is his wife, Daphinee Wingard Senn; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and John Allen Shealy of Leesville; daughter-in-law, Dianne Senn of Leesville; grandchildren and spouses, Don Allen and Eva Shealy; Tammy and Keith E. Rawl; Evan R. and Carolyn J. Shealy; Tiffany and Cameron P. Glover; great-grandchild, Brett E. Rawl; sister, Vondola S. Clark of Leesville; preceded in death by a son, Larry Wilbert Senn; brother, Roscoe Talbert Senn;

Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at his residence. Memorial can be made to: St. James Lutheran Church, 308 Church Street (Summit), Leesville, SC 29070.

Camilla Crone

ELGIN — Funeral service for Mrs. Camilla R. Crone, 77, of Elgin, will be held 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, February 17, 2005, in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor D. Lee Bowling. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Beckroge, Jack Canter, Toney Pressley, Robert Amick, Ronnie Amick and Dr. David Johnson. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock this (Wednesday) evening at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 846, Blythewood, SC 29016.

Mrs. Crone, widow of Clarence H. Crone, Jr., died Monday, February 14, 2005. Born in Gettysburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ludwig C. and Ruth Meales Mortensen. She completed nursing school in PA and moved to South Carolina in the 1950’s. Mrs. Crone worked at the old Columbia Hospital and retired as an assistant head nurse of the Newborn Nursery at Richland Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church to include church council and Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include: daughter, Nancy Crone of Elgin; sons, Terry Crone and his wife Kimberly of Newberry, Donald Crone and his wife Brenda of Blair; grandchildren, Brian and Jessica Crone of Elgin; step-grandchildren, Eva and Katherine Derrick of Newberry. Mrs. Crone was preceded in death by son, Robert Crone, sister, Frances Carr and brothers, John Mortensen and William Mortensen.

Lillie Gladney

WINNSBORO — Services with burial for Lillie R. Gladney are 3 p.m. Thursday at Black Jack Baptist Church, where she was a member. Survivors: children, Rachel and Daniel Gladney; husband, Theodore Gladney; sister, Lena Free; grandfather, Willie Robertson; granddaughter.

Claude Dyches Jr.

ST. MATTHEWS — Claude Odell Dyches Jr., 55, died Tuesday morning, February 15, 2005, in The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg following a brief illness. Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, St. Matthews, with Rev. James McGee officiating. Friends may call at the residence. Dukes-Harley Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1808 Bridge St. East, St. Matthews, SC 29135. Mr. Dyches was born in Columbia, a son of the late Claude O. and Elise Wooten Dyches. He was a graduate of Dreher High School and of Spartanburg Methodist College. Mr. Dyches was the manager of Jiffy Lube of Orangeburg. He was a former owner of Granby Office Outfitters of Cayce and Dykes Trucking Company, St. Matthews. Mr. Dyches was a former member and past president of the Rotary Club of Cayce and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Seeker Sunday School Class.

Survivors: wife, Mrs. Jane Reed Dyches of the home; daughter, Emily Jane Dyches, St. Matthews; son, David Reed Dyches, Easley; sisters, Claudia D. Brantley, Barnwell, Betsy D. Cowan, Birmingham, Ala.

Zachary Lloyd

COLUMBIA — Services for Mr. Zachary Boyce Lloyd will be held 2 p.m. today (viewing at 1 p.m.) at St. John Baptist Church, Columbia. Leevy’s Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel is in charge. Surviving are his daughters, Summer and Autumn Chastain; sons, Steven and Zachary Lloyd; mother and stepfather, Annie and Cecilio Camacho; sisters, Maxine Lloyd Blanks and Pamela Lloyd; brother, Luther Allen Lloyd.

Stephen Hudson

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Stephen Dayle Hudson, 59, of 702 Greenwood Drive, died February 13, 2005, in High Point Regional Hospital. He was born May 27, 1945, in High Point. Parents are Msg. Thomas B. Allen, U.S. Army Retired and Shirley Adele Sheffield Hudson Allen.

Mr. Hudson was a United States Navy veteran, a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, a former member of the Jaycees, and a Mason with Numa F. Reid Lodge #344.

Mr. Hudson was a retired Fire Chief of the High Point Fire Department and taught for 17 years, was on the board and helped form the Fire Service Curriculum at GTCC. He was involved in the International Association and the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs, the North Carolina Fire Instructors Association as well as numerous other organizations for the Fire Department and the Fire Chiefs Association.

Surviving are his wife Mary Brown Hudson; 2 sons Stephen D. Hudson, II; And Brent Allen Hudson all of the home; a brother SGM Arlan Alexandria Hudson, U.S. Army Retired; and grandson Gavin Chandler Summey - Hudson.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Thursday in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with the Reverend, Dr. James A. Summey, the Reverend Ken Barnett and Deputy Chief Keith Price officiating. Entombment will follow at the Floral Garden Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30.

Memorials may be directed to the High Point Regional Cancer Center, 302 Westwood Ave. High Point, 27262.

Sherry Zawacki

BARNWELL — Sherry G. Zawacki, 38, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, in Orangeburg, S.C.

Born in Allendale, S.C., she was the daughter of Sybile Lain Owens of Barnwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church. She was a loving mother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Catoe and Rev. George Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Mole Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her mother of Barnwell; son, James Zawacki of Barnwell; daughter, Shelley Zawacki of Barnwell; brother, Dennis Gunnells of Aiken.

James Chapman

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Services in S.C. for James Vernon Chapman, 60, 3 p.m. (2 p.m. viewing) Friday: St. Paul AME Church, Pomaria, visitation 6 tonight: Wilson Funeral Home, Newberry. Born in Newberry Co., to George and Nena Chapman, he died Feb. 14, 2005. Surviving: wife, Ida Chapman; children, Barbara Summers, Donna Wise, James Chapman Jr., James, Kelvin Holley; 14 grands; 3 brothers.

Leaner Hughes Sr.

ATLANTA — Services for Leaner Hughes Sr. are 1 p.m. Friday at New Ebenezer Baptist Church, burial in Palmetto Cemetery. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, Columbia, S.C., is in charge. Born in Columbia to Frances W. Sutton and Harvey Hughes, he died Feb. 12, 2005. Surviving: children, Leaner Jr., Jordan, Tiffany Hughes; parents; stepmother, Hilda; 8 brothers; 2 sisters; devoted friend, Wanda Roland.

Salome Fulmer

SPRINGFIELD — Services for Salome Livingston Fulmer, 100, will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, in the Springfield First Baptist Church with burial in the Springfield Cemetery. Visitation is 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Folk Funeral Home, Williston, in charge of arrangements.

Born in Livingston, she was a daughter of the late Jacob S. Livingston and Ida Gleaton Livingston. She retired as a florist, having been co-owner of Springfield Florist for more than fifty years. She attended Columbia College, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Springfield, the Springfield Garden Club and the Elderberries Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Varena Fulmer Henry of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Q.D. Fulmer, II, Salette Fulmer Austin, Jason Fulmer, Carri Uram and John D. Henry and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Quitman D. Fulmer.
