A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 29, in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave. The Reverend Martha Ebel will officiate. Interment will be held privately in Langley Cemetery.

Mrs. Hollows was born in Pitman, NJ to Doris Taylor Burrows, Tavares, FL, and the late Edward Earl Burrows, Jr. She moved to Florida a year ago, and had worked in tax preparation. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband; Raymond Leon Hollows.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at South Aiken Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Dr. John Frye will officiate. Interment will be held in Hayesville, NC on Tuesday at 11:00 AM.

Mrs. Smith was born in Hayesville, NC to the late Harley and Dorothy Rogers Smith. She and her husband moved to Aiken in 1952, and she worked as a secretary at Millbrook Elementary School for 23 years until her retirement. She was also a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Cecil M. Smith; two sons, Darryl L. (Cheryl) Smith, Spartanburg, SC, Enoch E. Smith, Aiken; two grandchildren, Kerri Lane Smith and Garrett Smith; a sister, Janice P. Padgett, Arden, NC; and a brother, Jack Parker, Hayesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave. The Reverend Dr. Fred Andrea and the Reverend Christopher Davies will officiate. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Salley, SC to the late Will and Nellie Nunn Weeks. She was a lifelong resident of Aiken, and worked as a clerk in a local grocery store. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Aiken.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Ellison, Wilmington, NC; her son, James Kitchings, Aiken; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a half sister, Della Robinson; and a half brother, Yarborough Weeks.

Memorials may be directed to the Shiner’s Children’s Hospital, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605, or to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802

A Christian wake will be celebrated November 3rd at 6 p.m. in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Robert Waters celebrant. Friends are invited to remain after the service as the family will receive until 8 p.m. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Father LeBlanc celebrant. Interment will take place in King Ferry, NY on Nov. 12, 2005.
Mrs. Driscoll was born in Auburn, NY to the late William Wallace and Frances Spencer Guyle. She had lived in Aiken since 1979.
Mrs. Driscoll was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and she tought at St. Marys School for over twenty years. She was a Eucreist Minister for over fifteen years and was on the Board of Tri Development.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherene D. Power, Aiken; three sons, H. Peter Driscoll, Marshall, MI, Dr. W. David Driscoll, Pittsford, NY and Daniel F. Driscoll, Grapevine, TX; eleven grandchildren, Renee Jakaub, Sean Power, Carrie Katonak, Sara Power, Michael Driscoll, John Driscoll, Annie Rose Driscoll, Emily Driscoll, Catherine Driscoll, Elizabeth Driscoll and Chad Watkins; five great grandchildren, Amanda Jakaub, Kimberly Jakaub, Megan Power, Spencer Power and Lauren Katonak.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, P.O. Box 438, Aiken, SC 29802.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM from Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel 715 East Pine Log Rd. with the Rev. Dr. John L. Frye officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home.

Born in Elmwood, TN, Mrs. Freed was a daughter of the late Ernest Wayne and Bertha Conditt Thackston. She had lived in Aiken since 1952 coming from Old Hickory, TN. She was a member of DAR, Ladies Hermitage Association in Nashville, TN, Wildwood Garden Club, and St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her son, Walter Wayne (Alice) Freed of Signal Mountain, TN; daughter, Frances F. (H. Odell, Jr.) Weeks of Aiken; brother, Jesse Thackston, Ann Arbor, MI; 4 grandchildren, Paige (Todd) Johnson, Allison Weeks, all of Aiken, David (Heidi) Freed of Atlanta, Fielding (Casey) Freed, Charleston; 3 great grandchildren, Gray Johnson, Rebekah Weeks, and Fielding Freed.

Private graveside services will be held in the Historic Bethany Cemetery in Downtown Aiken.

Carl “Coach” Adams, 65, of Aiken died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at his residence.

Carl was born in Charlotte, NC to Carl W. and Virginia Todd Adams. He grew up in the Air Force and lived in such places as Berlin, Germany, Las Vegas, NV, and Anchorage, AK.

He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dalzell, SC in 1958. He attended Presbyterian College for one year and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1962 with a major in Physical Education, and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

He began his coaching/ teaching career at Blaney High School in Elgin, SC coaching boys and girls basketball. He then coached football and boys and girls basketball at Salley High School in Salley, SC. He coached football, basketball, and golf at Graniteville High School in Graniteville, SC. The next 24 years were spent coaching and teaching at Kennedy Jr. High and Middle Schools, also coaching football, basketball, and golf. After retiring in 1992, he spent the next six years as a security officer at the Aiken Mall where he was still affectionately called “Coach.” The last few years he spent as a volunteer bailiff at Judge Charles Simons Municipal Court.

“Coach” was an avid golfer and a legacy member of the Aiken Golf Club. He also was a past member of Houndslake Country Club. He was a member of the SC Coaches Association, Cedar Creek Church and AA. He cherished his sobriety.

Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly (Robbie) Keefer of Greenville, SC, Dr. Stephanie (Todd) Fearer, Christiansburg, VA; 3 grandchildren, Charles Adams Keefer, Victoria Ashlyn Keefer, and Elizabeth Lee Fearer; sister, Virginia Ricker, Columbia, SC; and niece, Peggy Ricker Lyons.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, November 21, 2005 at Cedar Creek Church with the Rev.’s Richard Swift and Phillip Lee officiating.

The family will receive friends 3-5 P.M. Sunday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home 715 East Pine Log Rd.

Surviving are her husband, Leon Bridges, Aiken; step-sons, Joseph Leon Bridges, Aiken, Tracy Adams Bridges, Orange, TX; step-granddaughter, Chasity Saphire Bridges, Graniteville; sisters, Fay Bernardi, North Augusta, Brenda Moyer Bridges, Aiken; brothers, Jimmy Lee Moyer, Robert Joe Moyer, both of Aiken, Rev. Eddie Moyer, Langley; and beloved pet dog, Percy.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Open Bible Holiness Church with Rev. Eddie Moyer officiating. Interment will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Monday at Shellhouse Funeral Home 924 Hayne Ave., Aiken, SC 29801.
