Frances Branham

ELGIN — Funeral services for Frances Elizabeth Jackson Branham, 89, will be held on Friday, February 25, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Branham-Hayes Private Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Atkerson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Senior Adults of Emanuel Baptist Church, 1643 McRae Road, Camden, SC 29020 or to the A. Sam Karesh Longterm Care Garden Fund, Haile and Roberts Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Mrs. Branham, widow of Harvey Branham, Sr., died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Born in Kershaw County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Aurie Crossland Jackson. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are children, Shirley Padgett Bittinger of Winnsboro, Annette Cooper of Ridgeway, Bobbie J. Snyder of Camden, Harvey Branham, Jr. of Camden, Donald Branham, Sr. of Camden, Etta Branham of Winnsboro, and Ethel “Kitty” Bowers of Camden, sisters, Annie Hornsby of Lugoff, Sara McCoy of Elgin, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Jackie Glenn Branham, stepsons, Corbett Branham, Caldwell Branham, and Leroy Branham, sisters, Elma Stoudemire, Georgia Jackson, and Mary Sanders, brothers, Woodrow Jackson and James Jackson.

Sarah Gray

CAYCE — Mrs. Sarah Nell Bryant Gray, age 81, of 1225 Oakland Avenue, Cayce, S.C., and formerly of Anderson, S.C., died Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at her residence.

Born in Bowman, GA, on January 31, 1924, Mrs. Gray was a daughter of the late Morrison B. Bryant and Essie Seigler Bryant. She had retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbert, S.C. She was also an active member of the senior citizens group, Helping Hands.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Jane Gray of Pendleton, S.C., and a son, Bryon Edwin “Jack” Gray of Cayce, S.C.; two sisters, Edna Scales of Anderson, S.C., and Kate Smith of Bowman, GA, and two grandchildren: Brian Edwin Gray and his wife, Dawn Gray of West Columbia, S.C., and Jennifer Gray of Cayce, S.C., and a great-grandson, Jason Preston Gray.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Marshall Gray and a daughter-in-law, Jane Ann “Janie” Gray and a number of brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 25, 2005, at 2 p.m. officiated by the Reverends John Muller and Jerry Gray.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2005.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Jane Gray, 527 East View Drive, Pendleton, S.C.

The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, is in charge of arrangements.

Henry Thomas

COLUMBIA — Services for Henry A. “Hank” Thomas , 62, 2 p.m. Friday (viewing 1 p.m.): Greenlawn Chapel. Burial: 11 a.m. Saturday in Goodman Cemetery, Lynchburg. Job’s Mortuary, Sumter, is in charge. Born in York, Ala., to Henry Thomas and Mamie T. Bush, he died Feb. 21, 2005. Surviving: wife, Rugena Thomas; children, Patrice Drakeford, Henry Thomas Jr.; foster mother, Edith Bushillon; 1 grandchild.

Christine O’Kelley

EASTOVER — Memorial Services for Mrs. Christine Wilson O’Kelley, 71, of Elloree, S.C., formerly of Eastover, S.C., will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Eastover, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Greenlawn Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.

Mrs. O’Kelley died Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Born in Eastover, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Tom Wilson and Flossie Woodle Wilson. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Elloree, S.C.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph O’Kelley of the home; daughters, Sharon Rombough of Naples, Florida and Donna McPhee of Roanoke, Virginia; son, Ricky Martin of Naples, Florida; sisters, Dorothy Hull, Joyce Gammons, Gloria Wilson and Linda Hunter; a brother, Clyde Wilson; four grandchildren, Shawn Gwyn, Devin Rombough, Jessica Rombough and Alexis Martin; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kyle Gwyn.

Mattie Scott

WINNSBORO — Services for Mattie Harrison Scott, 89, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Gibson’s Funeral Chapel with burial to follow. Born in Fairfield County to Bunyon and Lillie Stone Harrison, she died February 21, 2005. Surviving are son, John M. Scott of Columbia; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Jo Anna Scott

CAYCE — A time of celebration for Jo Anna Scott, 75, of Cayce, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce, officiated by Rev. Don Davis. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S.C. Oncology Associates, P.O. Box 2046, West Columbia, SC 29171. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.

Jo Anna, a loving mother, grandmother and good friend of many, passed away Monday, February 21, 2005, after an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late Ralph James and Mary Foley Sears. Jo Anna was a member of Trinity Baptist of which she was very involved. She owned The Frock Shoppe in Cayce, Columbia and Honolulu, Hawaii. Jo Anna was truly one of a kind and very much a “people person.” She was a blessing to all, with her constant smile, contagious laugh, and her strong faith. Jo Anna was also an accomplished artist, an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and dearly loved to garden.

Surviving are sons, David (Scooter) Scott and Richard Scott; daughter and “favorite son-in-law,” Mary Jo and Steve Cockrell; brother, Jim Sears; sister, Juanita Watts; grandchildren, Scott Cockrell, Amy Hernandez, Buffy and Darby Scott, Kayla Smith; and great-grandchild, Mimi Hernandez.

The family is especially thankful for loving and professional care received from doctors and nurses at S.C. Oncology Center and Palmetto Health Hospice. A very special thanks to Jackie Thomas, whom mother dearly loved.

Amy Roberts

COLUMBIA — Services for Amy Hampton Roberts are 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, burial in Crescent Hill Memorial Garden. Visitation is 7-8 tonight at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home. Born in Columbia to Judge and Madelene Harris Hampton, she died Feb. 20, 2005. Surviving: children, Helen Hollis, May White, Gus, Jim Roberts; siblings, Clara Robinson, Fred, Wade Hampton; a host of grandchildren.

Samuel Williams Sr.

COLUMBIA — Mr. Samuel Pinckney Williams, Sr, 78, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Herbert and Elma Trotter Williams. Mr. Williams was the owner of Gateway Supply Company and a member of Mill Creek United Methodist Church. He was a life-time member of the Mechanical Contractors Association.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Marsha Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel P. Williams, Jr. and Wanda Williams of Columbia, Chris and Pamela Williams of Columbia, and David and Darlene Williams of Simpsonville; sister, Betty Rylance of Columbia; and grandchildren, Lindsey Williams, Jennifer Williams, Samuel P. Williams, III, Katherine Williams, Alex Williams, Aimee Williams, and Ashley Williams.

He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Jackie Langdale and Sybil Revere, and brother, Trot Williams.

A visitation for Mr. Williams will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with a memorial service to be held Friday at 2 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Mill Creek United Methodist Church, 1136 Universal Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29209, or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine Street, Columbia, S.C. 29205.

Scottie Mae Tucker

COLUMBIA — Services for Ms. Scottie Mae Tucker will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Gunter’s Chapel Baptist Church with burial in Lincoln Cemetery. Wake services will be held 7 p.m. this evening at Leevy’s Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel. Surviving are her sons, Vernon (Seana) Tucker, Jr., Atlanta; daughters, Karen Tucker, Columbia, and Rosalind Tucker, W. Columbia; brother, George Griffin, Columbia; sisters, Lula Metze, Irmo, Julia Dean and Leila Lyles, Columbia; sisters-in-law, Irene Griffin, Columbia and Sally Griffin, Hopkins; brothers-in-law; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Edith Stone

EDGEFIELD — Mrs. Edith Hammond Stone, 74, retired secretary, of Martintown Road, died Wednesday 2-23-05 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday 2-25-05 at 2 p.m. at Republican Baptist Church with burial in Peace Haven Cemetery.

Mrs. Stone was retired secretary for the Clemson Extension Service. She was member of Republican Baptist Church where she was church treasurer for 20 years. She was a member of the Edgefield County Library Board and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include 1 son, Tommy Stone, Johnston; daughter, Deborah S. Prater, Edgefield; sisters, Catherine Mathis and Gladys Reel, both of Edgefield; brother, Julian Hammond, North Augusta; grandchildren, Sarah and Elizabeth Stone, Victoria, Nicole and Nicholas Prater. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Edward Hammond.

The family is at the home of her daughter and will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

Krell Sease

GILBERT — Services for M. Krell Sease, 83, will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill Stone officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church (Priceville Rd.) cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Historic B-L Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 246 St. Paul’s Ch. Rd., Gilbert, SC 29054.

Mr. Sease died Tuesday. Born in Lexington County a son of the late Henry Cohen and Lottie Mae Price Sease. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau, and retired as a Salesman from FCX.

Surviving are his wife Anne Oxner Sease; sons, Rhett J. Sease of Holton, MI, and A. Timothy Sease of Gilbert, daughter Faith A. Steele of Gilbert; foster daughter, Hope Stoudemire of Gilbert; brother, Eitell Sease of Gilbert; sisters, Marjorie S. Price of Gilbert, Toby S. Faatz of Wilmington, NC, Katy S. Holloway of Gilbert, and Lyda S. Painter of Rockwood, TN; 8 grandchildren, 4 foster grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
