WEST COLUMBIA — Memorial services for Alexander Joziah Davisson, infant son of Krystle Marie Davisson, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2005, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. Dr. Donald F. West.

Surviving are his maternal grandmother, Jannell Davisson of West Columbia, maternal grandfather, Clint Davisson of W VA; aunt and uncle, Lisa and Steven Smith, and their children, Hailey and Jonathan of Summerville; uncle, Clinton E. Davisson of West Columbia; and Obet Cano Chacon and family.

James Guinn

CHESTERFIELD — Mr. James E. Guinn, 68, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2005 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. Mr. Guinn was born in Gibson, N.C., a son of the late Elisha and Lessie Quick Guinn. He was a retired supervisor with J.P. Stevens and was associated with the Miller-River-Caulder Funeral Home for many years. Mr. Guinn was a member of David’s Grove Baptist Church. Survivors: wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Davis Guinn of the home; sister, Mary Payne of Guntersville, AL; a number of special nieces and nephews. Memorials: Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Viola Amick

LEXINGTON — Graveside service for Viola Estelle Martin Amick, 96, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chapin. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is in charge. The family will be at the home of Kitty Smith on Thursday and Friday. Memorials may be made to Eau Claire Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Amick, wife of the late Cyrus Ellsworth Amick, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Silas and Rosa Ellen Coker Martin. She was a member of Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Bible Class and Circle #2.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty A. and Algie Roberts of Lexington; sisters, Lillie Koon of Summerville, Louise Amick and Alice Gann both of Columbia; two granddaughters, Debbie Frazier and her husband, Wayne, and Kitty Smith and her husband, John all of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Scott (Stacy) Frazier, Dean (Tammy) Smith, and Sharon Smith; two great-great-grandchildren, Delaney Frazier and Cameron Smith; and nieces and nephews.

Matthew Belissary

DARLINGTON — Matthew Ignatius Belissary, 86, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at his home in Darlington. Born in Union, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Belissarius Constatine Belissary and Andronike Psillos Belissary. Mr. Belissary attended Darlington city schools and graduated from St. Johns High School in 1935. He worked for several years after graduation at his father’s and uncle’s restaurant, The Deluxe Cafe, in downtown Darlington, on the Square. In World War II, he served in the Naval Pacific Fleet aboard the USS Electra. Mr. Belissary returned from the war, and worked at the Darlington Post Office until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed many years of scouting as Assistant Scout Master of BSA Troop 501. He was a Master Sergeant with the National Guard Unit 201 Medical Battalion Clearing Co. Headquarters until retirement. Mr. Belissary volunteered at the Good Samaritan Home in Darlington, where he worked with recovering alcoholics.

Mr. Belissary began his church life with Baptism in the Greek Orthodox Church, was raised in Darlington’s First Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School and sang with the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church choir. He was a devoted member of Darlington First Church Of God and was a devout Christian.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Katherine Fokakis Belissary, two daughters and a son-in-law: Dr. Lynne B. and John P.C. Maroney of Sumter, S.C., and Mary Kay Belissary of Florence, a son and daughter-in-law, Charles M. and Katie Belissary of Myrtle Beach, three sisters: Mrs. Cleo Hall of Ventura, CA, Mrs. Ethel (Louis) Manos of Darlington, Mrs. Jeri (Arnie) Chapin of Simi Valley, CA, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gail Belissary of Florence, a brother-in-law, Mr. Alan Gilbert of Hollywood, CA, four grandchildren; John P.C. Maroney II, Holly B. Maroney, Madison E. Belissary, and Matthew E. Belissary, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 4 pm, Friday, February 25, in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday night at the funeral home.

Louise Berry

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE — Louise Berry, of Batesburg-Leesville, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at Highland Avenue Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Joel Sexton and Rev. Ray Massey officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Shull, Leslie Sheppard, Travis Barnes, Randy Berry, Wayne Sheppard and Ronnie Waters.

Mrs. Berry was born in Batesburg to the late Foster E. and Nezzie Eidson Price. She was a member of Highland Avenue Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was married to the late George H. Berry and was a homemaker.

Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Debra Berry of Batesburg-Leesville; 1 grandchild, Kendrean Padgett husband Greg; 1 great-grandchild, Logan Padgett; stepgrandchildren, Deidre, Travis and Eric Barnes, Jadyn Burkett, Taylor Barnes, Brenda Barnes and T.J. Barnes.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at the home of her son. Memorial can be made to Highland Avenue Pentecostal Holiness Church, 309 Youman Street, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.

Lorine Cooper

PELION — Graveside services for Wilma Lorine Hill Cooper, 71, of Pelion, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Pelion Cemetery, officiated by Ms. Rebekah Cattley. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Shook, Charles McNew, Trey Addison, and Chris Dean. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Carolina’s Community Hospice.

Mrs. Cooper died Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Born in Cypress, FL, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Thelma Peacock Hill. Mrs. Cooper was a member of Pelion Methodist Church and had retired from K-Mart and Pelion High School.

Surviving are her husband, Marion Lance Cooper of Pelion; daughter, Marian Cooper Andrews of Pelion; sons, Ashley Lance Cooper of Pelion, Patrick B. Cooper and his wife Candy of Spartanburg, Clayton Scott Cooper of Orlando, FL; sisters, Betty Morse, Ann Chyc, Mattie Brasell, Johnny-Ruth Wester, and Gayle Howell, all of Florida; brothers, Gene Hill of Alabama and Roy Hill of Florida; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Hill and her sister, Mary Steel.

Eartha Adams

ULMER — Services for Eartha Mae Walker Adams, 54, 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial in Hoover Cemetery. Washington ’s Funeral Home, Hampton, is in charge. Born in Blackville to Leroy II and Eartha Price Walker, she died Feb. 22, 2005. Surviving: husband, Sam; son, Samuel; grandchild, Aonesti; father; six sisters; three brothers; other relatives and loving friends.

Edith Blizzard

COLUMBIA — Edith Bourne Blizzard, 83, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005, in Columbia.

Mrs. Blizzard was born November 10, 1921 in Hartsville, S.C. She graduated from Winthrop College and Bowman Gray School of Technology. She was a laboratory technician at the Georgetown County Memorial Hospital, taught at Winyah High School and started Georgetown Travel Agency, which she owned and operated for ten years. She was an active member of Prince George church. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Davis Bourne, and her second husband, Alpheus Wesley Blizzard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 11 A.M. at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church in Georgetown. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.

Mrs. Blizzard is survived by a son, William Davis Bourne, Jr.; a daughter, Julian Bourne Horst; a granddaughter, Eleanor Lemmon Bourne; and three grandsons, William Davis Bourne III, Benjamin Allen Horst, and William Fischer Horst.

The family will receive friends at the church parish hall immediately following the committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 674, Georgetown, SC 29442.

Rhennie Blick

DARLINGTON — Services for Rhennie Mae Moody Blick, 83, retired butcher, member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church, widow of Carl Blick, 3 p.m. Saturday (10 a.m. visitation) at Belk Funeral Home with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery. Born in Darlington County to David and Carrie Rhodes Moody, she died February 24, 2005. Surviving: sister, Jennie Norwood; nieces; nephews.

Harry Cooper Jr.

SUMTER — Services with burial for Harry Lee “Coop” Cooper Jr., 48, noon Saturday: Unionville AMEC, St. Charles. Job’s Mortuary is in charge. Born in St. Charles to Harry Sr. and Dorothy Rouse Cooper, he died Feb. 19, 2005. Surviving: wife, Theresa; daughter, Charmaine Lee; grandchild, Damaine Lee; siblings, Earnestine Shields, Laquetta Mackey, Dorothy Elder, Addie Davis, James Cooper; grandmother; aunt; more.

Leroy Brassell

ST. STEPHENS — Services for Leroy Brassell, 70, drywall hanger, 4 p.m. today: Redeemed Holiness Church. Burial: St. Stephen Baptist Cemetery. Dial-Murray Funeral Home is in charge. Born in St. Stephen to Johnny and Esther Mitchum Brassell, he died Feb. 23, 2005. Surviving: wife, Shirley Brassell Brassell; children, Faye Harmon, Renee Locklear, Kaye Cannon, Marty Brassell; stepchildren; siblings; grandchildren.

Clarence Durham

WEST COLUMBIA — Services for Clarence Norman Durham, 89, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 26, 2005, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Pastor Danny Hedgepeth. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church.

Mr. Durham died Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Born in Hall County, GA, he was a son of the late John C. and Pearl Cain Durham. Mr. Durham was a member of Westside Baptist Church and the “Men Over 65 Years” Sunday School Class. He was an Army veteran, having served in the First Armored Division during WW II, and was retired from Touchstone and Little Construction Company.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rena H. Durham; and son, Norman David Durham of Cayce. Mr. Durham was predeceased by a brother, Bill Durham and a sister, Minnie Bell Williams.
