WALLACE — Services with burial for Miss Geneva Johnson, 77, retired seamstress with Sacony and Chesterfield Mftg., 11 a.m. today at True Gospel Emmanuel Holiness Church. Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, is in charge. Born in Bennettsville to Elmore and Annie Caulder Johnson, she died Feb. 23, 2005. Surviving: siblings, Edward Johnson, Barbara (Jack) Wallace; nieces; nephews.

Cole Ann Hutchinson

WINNSBORO — Services for Ms. Cole Ann Hutchinson are 2 p.m. Saturday (viewing at 1 p.m.) at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Leevy’s Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel is in charge. Surviving are her nephew and niece, Charlie and Mary B. Williams; five grandnieces and nephews; 11 great-grandnieces and nephews; 16 great-great-grandnieces and nephews.

James Hinson Sr.

DILLON — Services for James Allen Hinson, Sr. will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 25 at Dillon First Baptist Church with interment in Greenlawn Perpetual Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home.

Mr. Hinson, age 75, passed away February 22, 2005, at his home.

Born in Dillon County, December 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Roland and Mamie Allen Hinson. He served in the United States Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dillon.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce Fore Hinson of Dillon; sons, Frank (Terrie) of Myrtle Beach and Robbie (Beth) Hinson of Dillon; twin daughters, Linda (Michael) Leonhardt of Georgetown and Glenda (Robert) Schleich of Dillon; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his eldest son, James Allen Hinson, Jr. (Nancy).

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201-2392.

Annie Harmon

LEXINGTON — Services for Annie Margaret Rikard Harmon, 76, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February, 26, 2005, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home with interment to follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2005, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 520 Gervais St., Columbia, SC 29201 or Vietnam Veterans of America, 738 Meeting St., West Columbia, SC 29169.

Mrs. Harmon widow of Rev. Harvey J. Harmon, Jr., died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Born in Lexington, S.C., she was the daughter of the late James Zack, Sr. and Evelyn Corley Rikard.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Anne H. Wampler (Ronald) of Virginia Beach, VA, Linda Susan Wilson (John) of Newberry, S.C., Harvey Jennings Harmon, III of Lexington, James Michael Harmon of Lexington, John Paul Harmon (Teresa) of Simpsonville, S.C.; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Zack, Ed and Reed Rikard of Lexington; sisters, Beverly Roof and Freddie Amick of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Janie Keisler.

Hallie Howard

COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Mrs. Hallie Price Howard, 81, of Columbia, will be held 3 o’clock today at Denny Terrace Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Brett DeYoung and Reverend Joe Joyner. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Denny Terrace Baptist Church, 6324 Dorchester Dr., Columbia, SC 29180. Shives Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Howard died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Born in Kingstree, SC, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Eulah Easterling David. She was a member of Denny Terrace Baptist Church and she was employed for 15 years with Tucker Center as a Nursing Assistant.

Survivors include: her husband, Jack Howard of Columbia; son, Tom Price and his wife, Cindi of Irmo; grandson, Lee Price of Columbia and granddaughter, Marianne Smith and husband Danny; 2 great grandchildren, Drew Smith and McKenzie Smith; 3 step-daughters, Diane Walker of Gaston, Belinda McKay and Sandra Burton both of Lexington. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her first husband of 56 years, Marion Price. Special thanks to the 6th floor doctors, nurses and staff at Palmetto Health Richland.

Izolar Haynes

VARNVILLE — Services for Izolar Haynes, 89, 1 p.m. Saturday at Lively Stone Temple AFC, Islandton. Burial: Rizer Chapel Cemetery, Ehrhardt. Wake: 7-9 tonight at Riley’s F.H., Hampton. She died Feb. 22, 2005. Surviving: children, Arlene Murdaugh, Mary Johnson, Francis, Daniel, Donald Haynes, Lois White; sisters, Tossie Bell Folk, Ethel Mae Gothie, Dorothy Henderson, Hazel Smalls; grandchildren.

Dr. William Gause Jr.

COLUMBIA — Funeral services for Dr. William Edward Gause, Jr., 73, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Boyce Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Serving as active pallbearers will be Lloyd Newman, Dr. Thomas S. Davant, V, Gary Gregor, Lynwood Burkholder, John Schroeder, and Earl Lovelace. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alfred “Skip” Kickey and Joe L. Allen. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Dr. Gause died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late William Edward Gause, Sr. and Catherine Hedgepath Gause. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of South Carolina and received his medical degree from the Medical College of South Carolina in 1956, and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1958.

He was a family practice physician for 45 years and was the oldest practicing family physician in practice in Columbia at the time of his death. He served as Chief of Staff at Baptist Hospital in 1970.

Chairman of South Carolina State Retirement Board, he was a member of the Columbia Medical Society, the South Carolina Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He was also a Full Scholarship Donor since 1959, a Silver Spur Donor for the last 3 years, and a member of the USC Alumni Association.

An active member of First Baptist Church since 1972, Dr. Gause served as chairman of Board of Deacons 1991-1992 and was a member of the choir for 18 years, taught the Happy Co-ed Sunday School Class for 15 years, and was director of the Men’s Friday Morning Prayer Breakfast.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Gertrude Jenkins Gause; son William Edward “Bill” Gause, III and his wife Rachel, of Columbia; daughters Mary Catherine “Cathy” Gause, of Columbia, and Ann Gause Culpepper and her husband Dr. Wright Culpepper, Sr., of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and grandchildren Catherine Bray Beard, Jennifer Lauren Beard, William Edward Gause, IV, Wright Adams Culpepper, Jr., William George Culpepper, and Catherine Ann Culpepper.

Jeff Epps

LAKE CITY — Services for Jeff Epps, 92, will be held at noon Saturday at Macedonniah Holiness Church, Cades, with burial in Poston Cemetery, directed by Green’s Funeral Home. Born in Cades to the late Titus and Sylvester Epps, he died February 21, 2005. The family is receiving friends at the home of his niece, Marie McFadden, 1003 S. Moulds Road, Lake City, SC 29560.

Viola Ginyard

WAGENER — Services for Mrs. Viola Davenport Ginyard, 81, will be Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. at Chalk Hill Baptist Church, Wagener, with burial in Swedenburg-Gunter Cemetery. Visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday at J.H. Robinson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ginyard died Monday, February 21, 2005. Born in Wagener, Aiken County, she was the daughter of the late Feaster and Carrie Steadman Davenport. She was a member of Chalk Hill Baptist Church and the Senior Choir.

Surviving are her son, Ozell Davenport; sisters, Carrie Mae Dunbar, Eularstine Miller; brothers, Melvin L. and Cleveland Davenport; five grandchildren, Duane, Troy, Deborah and Sabrina and Gwen D. Ginyard; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law; one aunt; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Rev. Pearly Garland Jr.

NEWBERRY — Services for Rev. Pearly L. Garland Jr., 2 p.m. Saturday at God Healing Spring Baptist Church, Whitmire. Burial: Lee Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 tonight at Whitaker Funeral Home. Born in Union to Pearly Sr. and Fair Wilbank Garland, he died Feb. 24, 2005. Surviving: wife, Delores Stroud Garland; children, Amy Mills, Deborah Blizzard, Adam Garland, Robert Hyler; sister; uncle; others.

Furman Garner

NEWBERRY — C. Furman Garner, 85, formerly of 2714 DeLoache Ave., Newberry, S.C., widower of Fay Berryhill Garner, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Springfield Place.

Mr. Garner was born on November 8, 1919, in Stephens County, GA, a son of the late Jesse T. and Sarah Brown Garner. He was an Army veteran of WW II, having served in Italy and North Africa.

He was the retired owner and operator of Garner Shoes, Inc. in Newberry and was an avid walker and gardener. He was a member and former Deacon of First Baptist Church and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class.

Mr. Garner is survived by three sons, Wayne Garner of Cordova, TN, Russell Garner of Columbia, and Wendell Garner of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Garner, Clea Garner, Jason Garner, Matthew Garner, and Olivia Garner; and a sister, Earline Merritt of Greenville. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Harris, Helen Parham, and Ernestine Roberts.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon and Rev. Jerry Long. Interment will be at 4 P.M Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at the residence, 2714 DeLoache Ave.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1020 Boundary St., Newberry, SC 29108 or to the American Diabetes Association, S.C. Affiliate, 2711 Middleburg Dr., Suite 110, Columbia SC 29204.
