LAKE CITY — Services for Henry McKinley Richardson, 60, 11 a.m. Saturday: Historical Greater St. James AMEC. Burial: Rest Lawn Cemetery, directed by Green’s Funeral Home. Born in St. Stephen to Henry and Maybelle Richardson, he died Feb. 27, 2005. Surviving: mother; siblings, Ben Rollerson, Joseph, Annette Richardson, Rosa Simmons, Janie Fulmore, Ida Burgess, Elousie Frazier; children.

Lizzie Gamble

SUMTER — Services for Lizzie Jane Dickey Gamble, 80, widow of Nathan Gamble, are 11 a.m. Saturday (viewing 10 a.m.) at Mt. Sinai AME Church, Lynchburg, burial in Edwards Cemetery. Job’s Mortuary is in charge. Born in Sumter Co. to Frank Dickey and Mary Player-Dickey, she died March 1, 2005. Surviving: children, Clara Reardon, Treadway, Robert Gamble; sister, Mary Hughes; niece, Deloris Tapp.

Coley Worthy Jr.

NEWBERRY — Coley B. “Junebug” Worthy, Jr., 70, died March 2, 2005. He was the son of the late Coley B. and Fay Stevens Worthy and the nephew of the late Ethel A. Worthy. Surviving are an uncle, Early Worthy of Newberry and an aunt, Dorothy Franklin of Great Falls. Services will be announced later by McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Mildred Smith

LEESVILLE — Mildred Randolph Smith, 87, of 154 Lakeshore Drive, Leesville, SC, died Monday, Feb. 29, 2005, in Lexington Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg, Rev. L. Howard Malby officiating. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg is in charge.

Mrs. Smith, widow of Albert Ruffin Smith, was born in Lamar, SC. She was the daughter of the late Richard D. and Adella Andrews Randolph. She was retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission. She was preceded in death by brothers, Creary Randolph, John H. Randolph, and Richard Randolph, Jr. and sisters, Virginia Randolph Rose and Ruby Randolph Bowie.

Survivors include two children, Albert Randolph Smith of Columbia, SC, Anne Randolph of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Albert Randolph Smith II and wife, Laura of Charlotte, NC, Allan Holcombe Smith and wife April of Columbia, SC, Mrs. R. Michael (Ruffin) Campbell, II and husband Mike of Columbia, SC; five great-grandchildren, Albert Randolph Smith III of Charlotte, NC, Cameron Elizabeth Smith of Charlotte, NC, John Nash Smith of Columbia, SC, Michael Rhodes Campbell of Columbia and Marie Riley Campbell of Columbia, SC; one nephew and one niece.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 1609, Columbia, SC 29202-1609.

Debbie Taylor

REMBERT — Services for Debbie Deloris G. Taylor, 49, 3 p.m. Saturday: Grant Hill Baptist Church. Burial: Grant Hill Cemetery. Job’s Mortuary is in charge. Born in Sumter Co. to Harvin Sr. and Laura Floyd Grant, she died Feb. 27, 2005. Surviving: spouse, Reginald; children, WauKeisha, Reginald; mother; siblings, Rochell Middleton-Hill, Carrie Johnston, Harvin Jr., Earl, Ronald, Roderick Grant; more.

Richard Terebo

GASTON — Memorial services for Richard Dominic Terebo, 70, will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Mr. Terebo died Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Born in New York, he was the son of the late Dominic and Anna Roberts Terebo. He was a retired firefighter, a member of the VFW, and was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Terebo of Gaston; children, Raymond A. Terebo of Orlando, FL, Sabrina Mort of Casselberry, FL, Richard A. Terebo of Pace, FL, Deniel Dotson of Pelion, SC, Valerie Peters of Gaston, SC, Jeff Hutcherson of Deltona, FL, Clinton Fulton of Gaston, SC, Jeannie Donaldson of Daytona, FL; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Sharpe

GASTON — Service for Myrtle M. Sharpe, 83, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: John L. Farmer, Jr., Bobby Farmer, Michael Farmer, Richard Farmer, Brian Evans and Rusty Curran.Visitation will be Friday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sharpe, wife of the late George Henry Sharpe, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Ruth McFarland McVey. She retired from the S.C. State Hospital and was a member of Advent Christian Church.

Surviving are children, Ruth Sharpe-Parfitt of Gaston, Dennis Sharpe of Gaston and Debbie Sharpe Joyner of Charleston; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

William Salisbury Jr.

SUMTER — Graveside service for William L. Salisbury, Jr., 81, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, is in charge.

Mr. Salisbury died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Tuomey Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late William L. and Jimmie Sue Salisbury. An Army veteran of WW II, he was employed by the S.C. Department of Highways and Public Transportation for more than three decades. He began his career as a rodman and achieved positions of higher and higher responsibility ultimately being promoted to Sumter County Resident Construction Engineer.

Upon his retirement, being that no citizen of Sumter County was more highly respected by his colleagues and fellow citizens, the S. C. General Assembly passed a resolution recognizing his outstanding accomplishments and contributions.

Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Robert R. and Frances P. Salisbury of Columbia; niece, Lynn S. Salisbury and her husband, Alan Groleau; nephew, Robert L. Salisbury; and great-niece, Melissa F. Groleau. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue S. Campbell and his brother, Frank P. Salisbury.

Frances Morrison

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — There will be a private memorial service for Frances J. Morrison, on Sunday, March 6, at Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Frances and her late husband, Robert Morrison, traveled extensively. Following Bob’s retirement, they settled near Malaga on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. While in Spain, they were active in the American Club, writing and producing a musical, “Cobwebs with Sugar,” that broke attendance records for the English-speaking community.

In 1981, they moved to Hilton Head Island, SC to be with their family. Fran co-founded the XYZ Club for seniors and was active in Community theatre, where she wrote and produced several plays. Fran was also a member of the Herb Society and a local book club.

She leaves wonderful memories to her daughters, Diane Schrader of Columbia, SC, Roberta Nissi of Hilton Head Island, SC, Pam Bidwell of Mount Vernon, NH; grandchildren, Dana Gilchrist, Robin Scherer, Kim Massa, Penney Oteiza, Geoffrey Bidwell and four great-grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Agnes Litke, who resides at Magnolia Manor.

Donald Bennett

PELION — Memorial services for Donald Wayne Bennett, 72, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Southland Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsen St., Columbia, SC 29201. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is in charge.

Mr. Bennett died Monday, February 28, 2005. Born in Sullivan, Ind., he was the son of the late Leander and Eliza Borders Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Benita Bennett of Pelion; daughter, Julie Morman of Pelion; sons, Tony Bennett of Irmo, Mark Bennett of Pelion, Bob Bennett of Gaston; sister, Annabelle McInnis of Sullivan, Ind.; grandsons, Michael, Donavan, and Mitchell Bennett; granddaughters, Stormi Lee, Alex, and Anna Bennett; several nephews and one niece.

Louise Merritt

LEXINGTON — Services for Louise Collins Merritt, 78, of Lexington, SC, will be held at 2pm Sunday, March 6, 2005 in Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, Perry, GA, officiated by Mr. Gary B. Collier and Mr. Harry J. Collins, III. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Friday, with a service at 8pm, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, SC and from 7-9pm Saturday at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, Perry, GA. Memorials may be made to Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 80487, Charleston, SC 29416-0487.

Mrs. Merritt died Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Born in Chincoteague, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Stella E. Collins. Mrs. Merritt was a member of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church. She was retired from Bob Capes Realty where she earned membership in the Million Dollar Sales Club on a number of occasions.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Fred Eba Merritt of Lexington, SC; daughters, Linda and James “Bodie” Lamons of Gilbert, SC, Sandy and Calvin Brown of Memphis, TN, Cathy and Bill Camp of Leesville, SC, Debby and Charlie Dymock of Irmo, SC; sisters, Billie Smith of Cleveland, TN and Martha Everett of Chincoteague, VA; grandchildren, Tim, Teri, Cal, Dougie, Erin, Sarah, Tissy, and C.D.; and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Merritt was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Robert Hoefer

COLUMBIA — Services for Mr. Robert Hoefer are noon Saturday (11 a.m. viewing) at New Laurel Street Baptist Church. Burial in Lincoln Cemetery. Leevy’s Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel is in charge. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Hoefer; daughters, Robin Hoefer (Charles) Jackson, Elizabeth Hoefer Mack; son, Robert Hoefer, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mabel Jenkins Rogers.
