Robert Graham

COLUMBIA — Robert H. “Bobby” Graham, age 67, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, S.C.

Mr. Graham was born in Mullins, a son of the late Albert Doty and Adyne Chestnut Graham. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia and retired from the S.C. Department Revenue. Mr. Graham was predeceased by two brothers Charles Graham, Donald Graham and by one sister Mary Louise Boyd.

Surviving are five sisters, Florence Whittington of Easley, Iona Walker and her husband Joseph of Cary, NC, Annie Mae Klup and her husband Clay of Cayce, SC, Sara Manship of Conway, and Charlotte Shillinglaw of Rock Hill, SC.

Graveside services will be held 11 A.M. Friday from Lakeside Cemetery with Rev. Martin Taylor officiating.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge.

Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Columbia, Building Fund, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Joe Felder

SUMTER — Services for Joe Felder, 66, construction/demolition contractor for Jet Wrecking Co., 11 a.m. Saturday: Job’s Mortuary. Burial: Hillside Memorial Park. Born in Sumter Co. to Mingo Smith and Rosa Bell Felder, he died Feb. 27, 2005. Surviving: wife, Rosetta; children, Larry, Marvin Felder, Teresa Sharper, Lutricia Francis, Jessie Polite; siblings, Douglas Felder, Jessie Montgomery, Bernice Dew; grandchildren.

Mamie Davis

COLUMBIA — Services for Mrs. Mamie Davis will be held 1 p.m. Saturday (viewing at 12 noon) at St. John Baptist Church, Columbia, with burial in Lincoln Cemetery. Wake services will be held 7 p.m. this evening at Leevy’s Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel. Surviving are her son, Horace Stephenson; brothers, Lewis and Clarence Bowman; niece, Linda; nephews, Robert and Jackie.

Emma Floyd

LAKE CITY — Mrs. Emma Lee Coward Floyd, age 90, died March 2, 2005 in a Florence hospital after an illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock PM today (Fri) at Lake City 1st Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Floyd Funeral Home.

Born in Florence County, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Thaddeous Coward and Flossie Willow Brockington Coward. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, a former elementary school teacher, a member of Lake City 1st Baptist Church, The Easterling Sunday School Class, a former church choir member, and a member of the Ladies Circle of the church, a former member of the Junior Book Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, S. Russell Floyd, Jr.; a daughter, Hannah Susan Floyd; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Coward Rawlinson.

Surviving are her son Dr. Samuel Russell Floyd, III, and his wife, Laura Sutton Floyd, of Hilton Head Island; a granddaughter, Samantha LeeAnne Floyd; and a sister, Louise Coward Neely of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Family Life Center Building Fund, c/o Lake City First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 820, Lake City, S.C. 29560.

Col. Jacob Gregory

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Col. Jacob Frey Gregory, USAR Ret, 85, formerly of Roebuck, departed this life on March 5, 2005, at his home in Greensboro.

He graduated from Clemson University in 1941 and served in the US Army at Camp Croft SC and later in WWII at Camp Blanding FL, Camp Livingston LA, Ft Benning GA, and in Korea. He taught Military Science & Tactics at City College of New York. In 1945, he was in Pearl Harbor en route to the Pacific Theater when the Japanese surrendered.

Following active duty, he proudly served in the US Army Reserve for 35 years, teaching Officers Reserve classes in Greenville SC until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of B.B. Parks Chapter, Reserve Officers Assn, in Greenville.

He married Sarah Ruth Jackson in 1942. Col Gregory and his father operated Cedar Walnut Farms at Pauline SC until 1960. For over 15 years, he was Director of the R&D Lab at M. Lowenstein, Lyman SC.

He was predeceased by his parents, The Rev. Harry Howard and Blanche Frey Gregory, and four sisters, Blanche and Aurelia Gregory, Pollyanna G. Smith, Martha G. Lewis. In addition to his wife the former Ruth Jackson of the home, he is survived by his daughter Jean G. Taylor MD (Steven) of Greensboro; sons Jacob Frey Gregory, Jr. of Pilot Mtn NC and Phillip Jackson Gregory (Jane) of West Columbia; brother Harry Howard Gregory (Ruth) of Atlanta; sisters Flora G. Comins of Gainesville FL and Rebecca G. Futrell (Jeff) of Laurens; brother-in-law Victor M. Smith of Florence; and two grandchildren, David Phillip Gregory of Columbia and Sarah Love Taylor of Durham NC.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev James Crocker on Tuesday, March 8 at 1 p.m. at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg. Interment with military honors at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens will follow. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Jeanne Florence

GREENWOOD — Services for Jeanne Colvin Florence, 64, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 2 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Greer. She died March 5, 2005. Surviving are daughter, Lori Florence; sister, Peggy Byess; niece, Angie Kingsmore; nephew, Jeff Byess; great-niece and nephews, Jennifer, Mark Kingsmore and Andrew Byess.

Aline Grant

CHERAW — Aline Brigman Grant, 93, died March 6, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary B. Brigman. She was married to the late Rufus Grant. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: son, Wilbert Grant (Anna) of Hamlet, NC; daughter, Mary Maloch (John Maloch Jr.) of Wallace, SC; daughter, Betty Curry (Wiley Curry) of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Doris Goude (Frank Goude) of Wallace, SC; sister, Myrtle Griggs of Goosecreek, SC; sister, Lilliemae Simmons of Belvedere, IL. She was preceded in death by son, Wesley Grant; two sisters, Ida Henddrix and Williebell Mitchell; two brothers, Woodrow Brigman and Oscar Brigman; one grandchild, David Goude. She has 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 2005, 6 to 8 pm at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. Funeral services will be 4:00 Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with burial in Ebenezer UMC Cemetery, Bennettsville, SC.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Anthony Freeman

IRMO — Services for Anthony A. Freeman, are at 1 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Broad River Congregation. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, Columbia, is in charge. Born in Bamberg to Izell and Coreatha Grant Freeman, he died March 1, 2005. Surviving are his wife, Joann B. Freeman; brother, Clary Freeman; aunt, Orfeatha Jenkins.

Hodges Harmon

NEWBERRY — Hodges W. Harmon, 95, of Newberry, died March 5, 2005 at J. F. Hawkins Health Care.

He was born in the Stoney Hill section of Newberry County. He worked for forty-nine years in the Mollohon Mill and was a farmer for sixty years. Mr. Harmon was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where was a member of the Golden Agers.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie W. Harmon; he was predeceased by his first wife, Earnestine O. Harmon, from which this union he is survived by a son, L. Hodge Harmon; grandchildren, Jody Harmon and Dondee Lewis and three great grandchildren. He is survived by step-sons, Michael Griffin, Kenneth Griffin and Harry H. Griffin, Sr. several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and a very special step-grandchild, Lillie Breck.

Services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Steve Jackson. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Henry Grossmann

COLUMBIA — Henry E. Grossmann, 95, husband of the late Cleo W. Garner Grossmann, died Sunday, March 06, 2005. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late Rudolph Grossmann and Clara Schafbook. He retired from the Jersey City Police Department as a lieutenant. He was a fifty-year member of the Masonic Order and a member of the Police Benevolent Association.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Edward H. and Marcia Grossmann of Parlin, N.J.; brother, Michael Grossmann of Holmdel, N.J.; grandchildren; Christine Pota and her husband, Louis, of Little Silver, N.J., Brett Grossmann and his wife, Barbara, of Metuchen, N.J., and Cheryllee Schachel and her husband, James of Sayreville, N.J.; and great-grandchildren, Dustin Brett Grossmann, Cole Patrick Grossmann and Ryan Henry Schachel.

Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mazalee Hinson

BETHUNE — Graveside services for Mazalee Hinson, 89, of Bethune, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Timrod Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Odell Sullivan and Reverend Jeff Cockrell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM Monday, March 7, 2005 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.

Mrs. Hinson, widow of Charlie Henry Hinson, died Sunday, March 6, 2005. Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Lina Shirley Horton. She was a member of Timrod Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Francine Witham and her husband, Don of Bethune, Lydia Jones and her husband, Delton of Bethune, Mitchalene Rowe and her husband, Roger, of West Columbia; daughter-in-law, Zedie Hinson of Bethune; sister, Nell Chistenbury of Bethune and brother, Leslie Horton of Bethune; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son, Tony Hinson.
