Percy Boan Sr.

CAMDEN — Funeral services for Percy Lenon Boan, Sr., will be held at 4 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2005, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Burial will follow in Wateree Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Elder Charles Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Wateree Baptist Church, 2024 Haile Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Percy L. Boan, age 73, owner of Burndale Nursery, departed this life on April 1, 2005, at Richland Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was faithfully cared for by his beloved wife of 36 years, Annie Grace Boan, as he faithfully fought his final battle. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of Legion Post 17 and served as a Captain in the Camden Fire Department. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Grace, and five sons, Percy Boan, Jr., Ronnie Boan, Gerry Boan, Brian Boan and Chris Boan, all of Camden; stepdaughter, Sharon L. Norris of Mineral, VA; sister and her husband, Dora and Charles Smith of Monroe, NC; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one older brother, William “Bill” Boan of Camden and parents, Callie R. Boan and Percy Elliott Boan, both of Camden.

The beauty he created in his many landscape designs and garden designs will be appreciated for time to come by his friends and business associates of Camden and Kershaw County.

Margaret Campbell

WARD — Services for Margaret Jeanette Campbell, 44, are 4 p.m. (viewing 3 p.m.) Tuesday at Olive Branch Baptist. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at 207 Ward Ave. Walters-Davis Funeral Home is in charge. Born to George and Margaret Campbell, she died April 1, 2005. Surviving are spouse, Wilbur Harris; stepchildren, Carolyn Jackson, Kenny, Wilbur Jr. and Keith Harris.

Joe Miller

NEWBERRY — Joe R. Miller, 68, of J. F. Hawkins Healthcare, died Saturday, April 2, 2005.

Mr. Miller was born in Newberry, a son of the late Alphonso F. and Sara Wertz Miller.

Mr. Miller is survived by wife, Patsy Harmon Miller of Newberry; two daughters, Jinks Machelle Miller Dupre’ of Navarre Beach, FL and Samantha Jill Miller of Prosperity; a son, Joe R. Miller, Jr. of Gulf Breeze, FL; a son-in-law, Barry Dupre’ a daughter-in-law, Kim M. Miller; a sister, Mary M. Beck of Newberry; two grandchildren, Charles R. Folk, Jr. of Prosperity and Megan M. Miller of Gulf Breeze, FL. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jean Miller and a brother, Richard Gerald Miller.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 P. M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.

At the request of the family, there be no local funeral services.

Memorials may be made the J. F. Hawkins Healthcare, Folk Unit, 1330 Kinard Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Whitaker Funeral Home, 1704 College St., Newberry SC is assisting the family.

Dorothy Robinson Cauthen

KERSHAW — Services for Dorothy Robinson Cauthen, 87, widow of Ralph Cauthen, will be at a later date in Kershaw City Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel. Born in Rock Hill to William and Sadie Barr Robinson. Surviving: children, Terry Cauthen, Sadie Black-McGee; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by daughter, Peggy Timko.

Herman Ott

BRANCHVILLE — Mr. Herman C. (Neal) Ott, 66 years of age, of 200 Cleveland Ct. died Sunday, April 3, 2005.

Mr. Ott was born in Branchville, a son of the late Herman C. Ott and Gena McAlhany Ott, he was a 1956 graduate of the Branchville High School, he attended the Clemson University, he was owner of Neal Ott’s Country Store for 46 years, he was a life member of the Branchville Masonic Lodge #10, the Omar Shriners of Mt. Pleasant, the Omar Safety Patrol, the Royal Order of Jesters, he was also a member of the Branchville Baptist Church, life member of the Elks Lodge #897, the Family Motor Coach Association, the Clemson IPTAY Chapter of FMCA, a IPTA member, and he was a past member of the Branchville Town Council. He was a loving husband, father, and Pop-Pop.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. at the Branchville Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Porter officiating, burial will be in the Ott Cemetery in Branchville with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers are Franklin McAlhany, VJ Dukes, George Bailey, Clyde McAlhany, Grady Murray, and Tom Rhoad.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Omar Safety Patrol.

Mr. Ott is survived by his wife, Virginia Felder Ott of the home; two sons, Timmy Ott and Chris (Tina) Ott; two daughters, Amy (Jammie) Bryant, and Kyra (Norris) Jarrett, all of Branchville; two sisters, Phyllis (Dick) Grant of Houston, TX, and Vicki Cleveland of Branchville; four grandchildren, Alexis Bryant, Callie Jarrett, Jas Bryant, and Brady Ott; one nephew, Will Grant, and one niece, Genie Cleveland.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. Friends may also call at the resident.

Memorials may be made to the Branchville Baptist Church Building Fund, The Omar Shriners of Mt. Pleasant, or the Branchville Masonic Lodge #10.

Larry L. Sawyer Sr.

SOUTH CONGAREE — Services for Larry Leonard Sawyer, Sr., will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Dixianna Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Platt officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Mr. Sawyer died Saturday. Born in Lexington County a son of the late Cecil and Leona Cartin Sawyer. He was a member of Dixianna Baptist Church, Sinclair Masonic Lodge #154, a Shriner, Scottish Rite.

Surviving are his wife, Donna “Susie” Sawyer; sons, Larry, Jr., Steven, and Daniel Sawyer, Jessie Chasteen, all of South Congaree; daughter, Stephanie Watts of Gaston; sisters, Barbara Faye Smith, Ellen Chaney, Elsie Price, all of Lexington, Betty Kyzer of West Columbia; brothers, Stanley and Roy Sawyer, both of Lexington, Ray and Donald Sawyer, both of West Columbia, and Jim Sawyer of Holly Hill; 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Daniel, Bill, and Kenneth Sawyer.

Rubie Reynolds Sill

COLUMBIA — Graveside services for Mrs. Rubie R. Sill will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with burial to follow. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 5, 2005 at the funeral home from 6 PM until 8 PM. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home for the arrangements.

Rubie Reynolds Sill, daughter of the late George W. and Pearl Reynolds of Lugoff, SC died at age 84 on April 3, 2005. She was born in Kershaw County and was an inactive member of Dentsville Baptist Church. She retired from the Army and Air Force Post Exchange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Mobley Sill and son, Edward George Sill, both of Columbia.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Sill Roof and Sue Sill Turner, both of Columbia and daughter-in-law, Linda Reynolds Sill. Also surviving are two sons, Jerry B. Leech of Cheraw, SC and John David Sill of Pinehurst, NC and her favorite son-in-law, William B. Roof. Other surviving members are Doris R. Davis, Mattie Stokes, Irene Dobson, and three brothers, Hilton, Grady and Hazel Reynolds.

She leaves nine grandchildren: William and Patrick Roof, Moby and Toby Turner, Harry Edward Hutchinson, Edward Bryan Sill, John Daniel Sill, Vandra Sill Lang and Lorna Elizabeth Sill. Her most enjoyable moments were shared with her nine great-grandchildren: Taylor, Mikayla, Glen, Payton, Hannah, Courtney, Alex, Caroline, and Emma.

John Wright

BENNETTSVILLE — John William Wright, age 64, died April 1, 2005.

Born in Marlboro County he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Chavis Wright. He was a retired construction worker. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Wright of McColl; one son, John Archie Wright of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Elijah Wright of Augusta, GA and Marvin Wright and Charles P. Wright, both of Bennettsville; 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 4:00 pm at Wallace Emanuel Holiness Church with burial in Chavis Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7-9 at the church.

Clemson Key Sr.

ORANGEBURG — Mr. Clemson Horace Key Sr., 82, of 1424 Rhoad Street, Orangeburg, died Saturday morning, April 2, 2005, in the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Flemming officiating and burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Pallbearers are Richard Carson, Thomas Hiers, David Johnson, Wayne Carson, Harold Carter, Steven Jeffcoat. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg is in charge.

Mr. Key was born April 4, 1922 in Aiken Co., a son of the late Horace Key and Unity Holley Key. He was a graduate of Clemson with a BS, was employed with Sandy Free Real Estate, served in the U.S. Navy, and was a veteran of World War II. He was the widow of the late Louise Johnson Key.

Surviving are two sons, Steven (Steve) Key of Madison, Wis. and Clemson H. (Skip) Key Jr. of Mauldin, S.C.; 3 grandchildren, Sara Key of Madison, Wis., Jennifer Key of Pickens, S.C. and Jeffry Key of Pickens, S.C.; sister, Nellie Henkinson of Warrenville, S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to the Gospel Light Baptist Church, 116 Gospel Hill Court, Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.
