Anthony R. Temple

BATESBURG — Services for Anthony R. Temple, 46, will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church in Perry, GA. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Barr-Price Funeral Home Historic B-L Chapel. Memorials may be made to Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Janet Keldahl, 304 St. John Ave., Box E-6, Ft. Valley, GA 31030.

Mr. Temple died Monday. Born in Aiken County, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. David F. Temple and Mr. and Mrs. James D. Perry. He was a member of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church and was employed as a General Builder.

Surviving are daughters, Ersiella Anthonea and Charlotte Hester Temple, both of Jacksonville, FL; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Temple of Batesburg, Mr. and Mrs. Perry of Inman; brothers, David Brian Temple of Spartanburg, Sampson Dwayne Temple of Greer, Gene Maurance Temple of Ridge Spring, Benjamin Clark Temple of Gilbert, Timothy Alan Temple of Norfolk, VA; sisters, Ginger Rene’ T. Bouknight of Pomaria, Alicia Gail Pack of Duncan; stepbrother, Keith Perry of Augusta; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Jonathan Lewis Temple.

Joseph A. Wylie

CHESTER — Mr. Joseph A. “Joe” Wylie, 58, of Chester, S.C., passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2005, at Sandy River Baptist Church in Chester, S.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born January 26, 1947, in Chester County, he was the son of the late James Wylie and Geneva Simpson Wylie. He was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church and was a former Textile and Construction worker. He was preceded in death by one sister, Cora L. Wylie Glenn.

Survivors are four brothers, James A. (Ruth) Wylie of Columbia, S.C., Otis L. Wylie of Calif., Ronald L. Wylie of Chester, S.C., and Ricky H. Wylie of Trenton, New Jersey; two sisters, Mattie J. Taylor and Vercie B. Harvey, both of Trenton, New Jersey; two aunts and one great aunt, nieces and nephews. King’s Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Mary F. Johnsey

LAURENS — Mary Farley Johnsey, 94, widow of Andrew Hubert Johnsey, formerly of 560 W. Main Street, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Samuel R. and Claudia Crews Todd. She was a homemaker, a lifelong member of Laurens First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Sullivan-Dunklin Chapter of NSDAR.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Liz Chandler and husband Joe of Orlando, FL, Sarah Smeal and husband Keith of Simpsonville, and Andrew Ridge and husband Warren of Aiken; 5 grandchildren, Joseph H. Chandler, Beth Chandler, Kelley Chandler, Andrew Ridge and Justin Ridge; and 3 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brandon and Molly Chandler.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, in Laurens City Cemetery conducted by Rev. Bill Rogers.

The family will receive friends, after the graveside service, at Martha Franks Villa.

Charles Adams

CHARLESTON — Charles St. George Sinkler Adams, 28, of Charleston, S.C., died April 13, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on April 1.

He was born July 6, 1976, in Columbia, South Carolina. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Julian Calhoun Adams of Columbia and Mrs. Martha Whaley Adams Cornwell of Charleston: a sister, Helen Calhoun Adams of Charleston and Santa Barbara, California; and a stepfather, Charles Cornwell of Charleston.

He was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Scott Whaley (Emily Fishburne) of Charleston and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams, Jr. (Helen Calhoun) of Columbia.

He was employed by Maddray Floor Finishing Co.

Memorial services for Mr. Adams will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Charleston at 3 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005. The following day, Saturday April 16, family and friends will gather at noon at Wavering Place in Congaree near Columbia. Interment will take place at 3 p.m. at the Peterkin family graveyard at Fort Motte, S.C.

Memorials may be sent to a charity of one’s choice or The Helen Adams and Robert Adams, IV Memorial Purchase Fund of the Columbia Museum of Art or the Life Management Center, Inc.

Catherine C. Brosig

COLUMBIA — Catherine C. Brosig, 60, has died.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.

Peggie A. Curry

HAMPTON — Services with burial for Peggie A. Curry, 52, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. A wake will be held 6-8 tonight at Riley’s Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel. She died April 11, 2005. Surviving are daughter, Felicia Curry; granddaughter, India Curry; sisters, Betty Jones, Evelyn Smith; brother, Eugene Curry; grandmother, Carrie Givens; five aunts.

Allen Williams

GREAT FALLS — Mr. Allen Erwin Williams, 90, of 38 Pinecrest Street, Great Falls, S.C., widower of Elizabeth Stone Williams, died Thursday, April 14, at his residence.

Services will be 11 am. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Great Falls. Interment with Masonic rites will be at 4:30 p.m. in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery, Anderson. Rev. Dr. Aubrey Floyd and Rev. Larry Roberts will officiate.

Born August 28, 1914, in Anderson County, S.C., to Wister Gwynn Williams and Lillian Eliza Erwin Williams, he retired as a fabric designer for J.P. Stevens Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday School teacher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Corps and a graduate of Anderson High School and Clemson College.

Surviving are one son, Jimmy Williams and wife, Susan of Chapel Hill, N.C. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laura Ashley Williams.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 606 Dearborn Street, Great Falls, SC 29055.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Maggie Colclough

SUMTER — Services for Maggie Lou Fogle Colclough, 91, widow of Richard Colclough, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Job’s Mortuary with burial in Walker Cemetery. Born in Elloree to Moses Fogle and Anna Goodwin Fogle Dow, she died April 11, 2005. Surviving are sons, Marvin Sr., Richard Colclough; nephews reared in the home, Leval, Staff Sgt. Michael Brewer; nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren.

James Garrett

LAURENS — Services with burial for James “Fat” Garrett, 68, retired K-Mart employee, are 2 p.m. Saturday (viewing 1 p.m.) at Beaverdam Baptist Church, Enoree, where he was a member. Goins Funeral Home is in charge. He died April 11, 2005. Surviving: wife, Mary Garrett; children, Marvin Garrett, James Burnside, Mary Burnside; siblings, Willie, Jerry, Edward, Charles Garrett, Nannie Latimore; 5 grandchildren.

Jacqueline Jordan

RIDGELAND — Mrs. Jacqueline Tharpe Jordan, 79, of 214 Spanish Moss Road in Ridgeland, died Thursday morning in the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.

Born February 10, 1926, in Williamsburg County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late R.J. Tharpe and Ruby Bryan Tharpe. She had retired as the Deputy Registrar with the Hampton County Health Department and was a member of the Varnville First Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her love of family and her enjoyment of fishing.

She is survived by one son, Charles L. Odom and wife, Linda of Ridgeland; one daughter, Joyce Rogers of Hampton; four brothers, Bo Tharpe of Islandton, S.C., Bobby Tharpe of Augusta, GA, Tommy Tharpe of Georgia and Gerald Tharpe of Columbia; two sisters, Mary T. Winn of Hampton and Ginger T. Thomas of Columbia; three grandchildren, Robin Rogers of Easley, Chuck Odom of Varnville and Courtney O. Jarrell of Ridgeland; six great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Ashley Rogers, David and Dillon Ginn and Mallory and Chase Odom. She was predeceased by a brother, Eddie Tharpe and a granddaughter, Renee Rogers Ginn.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Tommy Kelly.

Friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday evening at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry St., Hampton, SC 29924.

The family will be at the home of the daughter at 504 Everett St., Hampton, S.C.

Margaret Warmoth

SUMTER — Margaret Anna James Warmoth, 87, wife of 69 years of Edward Louis Warmoth, died peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at the home of her daughter, after suffering a stroke in July.

Born November 24, 1917, in Greer, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Henry James and the late Susie Owen James.

Mrs. Warmoth was educated in the Columbia and Chester schools. She and her husband settled in Sumter in 1940, where they raised their family. A Christian private in her faith, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she and her family attended. She was formerly employed as a secretary for Dr. Richard Furman Baker. In earlier years, Margaret loved gardening and won numerous awards for her talents in floral arranging as a member and past President of the Poinsett Garden Club. She loved bridge, playing with one group every other week for over 50 years, and others in recent years as her friends departed. She cared deeply for the Sumter community where she served as a member and Chairman of the Sumter City-County Planning Commission for several years. She served as a volunteer of the Grey Ladies of the Red Cross. A knowledgeable and accomplished genealogist, she was an active member of the Sumter Historical and Genealogical Societies. Her children will remember her happiest times camping beside a stream in the mountains when camping was a rare adventure. Above all, she loved her family.

Surviving are her husband of Sumter; two sons, Edward Louis Warmoth, Jr. of Charleston and Francis James “Frank” Warmoth and wife Zoe Rhame Warmoth of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Margaret Anna “Meg” Player and husband Tommy of Sumter; a sister, Sara Stringfellow of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren, Wren Cook, Tommy Cook, Holly Jackson Garrity, Katie Jackson Atolli, Thomas Player, James Warmoth, and Anna Warmoth Carbone; three great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Tommy Cook of Columbia; a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She will be eternally missed by those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Sue Cook; her siblings, Joe, Ruth and Elliott; and a great-granddaughter, Sara Anne Garrity.

The family would like to thank Tuomey Hospice and the wonderful people who devote their lives to caring for those approaching death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 403 W. Calhoun Street.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 226 W. Liberty Street, Sumter, SC 29150, Wilson Hall School, 2801 W. Wise Drive, Sumter, SC 29150, or to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 2229, Sumter, SC 29151.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory, 221 Broad Street, Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
