Salter Hook Jr.

COLUMBIA — Homegoing Service for Salter E. Hook Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home. Born in Columbia, he was the son of Salter E. Sr. and Rosa M. Hook. Mr. Hook died April 20, 2005. Surviving are his children, Tisha Castile and Salter T. Preister; devoted friend, Gloria Geter; siblings, Marcus, Vivian, Lillian, Robin, Demetress and Valaunqua; four grandchildren.

Ruth Heath

WILLISTON — Graveside services for Ruth Burkett Heath, 76, will be eleven-thirty a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, in Williston Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Watford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Mrs. Heath died Wednesday.

Survivors include, husband, Gene Heath; daughters, Barbara Jean Mathewes, Dena Ruth McConnell; grandchildren, Barbara Leigh and Frederick Heath Terry and Shelby Brooke McConnell; sister, Ruby Brewer; nieces and nephews; She was predeceased by sons, Quince Edward and Clifton Eugene Heath.

Dwight Houser Sr.

CHARLOTTE — Dwight Wilson Houser, Sr., 79, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Plantation Estates. Mr. Houser was born February 11, 1926 in Huntersville, NC to the late Daniel Webster “D.W.” and Florence Louise Long Houser. He served in the United States Marine Corps, in which he witnessed the raising of the United States Flag on Iwo Jima. Mr. Houser was a member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church and retired as a sales manager for Hormel.

Mr. Houser is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Hazel Boone Houser; daughter, Kathy Ann Richardson and her husband, Dr. J. Huger Richardson of Columbia, SC; son, Dwight Wilson Houser, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Emily Richardson, Whitney Richardson and Clark Richardson, and Brittany Houser and Matthew Houser; and brother and sister, Joe Houser and Nancy Barbato of Davidson, NC.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 Sugar Creek Road, West, Charlotte, NC with Reverend Larry Watts and Reverend Keith Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Houser endeared himself to others with his kindness and thoughtfulness. He made himself available to anyone that needed assistance regardless of the job or person. Every job had a purpose, every person was worthwhile. Gardening was his life long passion. He grew vegetables he didn’t like because of the beauty of watching them grow and the joy from giving them away. Throughout his twenty-three year battle with Parkinson’s disease he showed remarkable strength and determination to continue to care for others. He kept his quick wit and strong will. In honor of a man that always wanted to help, the family has setup a memorial fund so that he could “Pass It Along.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. The Foundation appreciates that all donations clearly specify the donor’s name and address, the name of the individual being memorialized, and the name and address of the family of the deceased who should be notified of the donation

Rev. Everett Ingram Jr.

MYRTLE BEACH — Rev. Everett W. Ingram, Jr., age 72, of Red Fox Circle, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at his residence following an illness.

Rev. Ingram was born in South Boston, Va., a son of the late Everett W. Ingram, Sr. and Virginia Lee Coffman Ingram. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served with NATO for two years in Italy. He had the distinction of being baptized in the Mediterranean Sea at Puteoli, where the Apostle Paul once visited. He attended Emmanuel College, Columbia Bible College and Holmes Theological Seminary.

Rev. Ingram pastored Hemingway Pentecostal Holiness Church, Great Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lexington Pentecostal Holiness Church, Darlington Pentecostal Holiness Church, Bible Temple in Toledo, Ohio, Church of the Comforter in Tucker, GA., Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church in Congaree, SC, Socastee Pentecostal Holiness Church and East Conway Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Ingram served six years as Superintendent of the Great Lakes Conference. In 1988, he founded Coastal Worship Center, where he served as pastor for nine years. He was a member of the SC IPHC.

Because of poor health, he retired from the pastorate in 2003. Since that time, he sought a way to continue his ministry of witnessing for Jesus. He visited a number of churches distributing bumper stickers that read, “Jesus Is The Only Savior.” Many of these are still available for those who might desire one. He was predeceased by a sister, Lois Simmons and two brothers, Rev. Bill Ingram and Charles Ingram.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Nowlin Ingram of Myrtle Beach; two sons, Everett Walter “Walt” Ingram, III and his wife, Dianne of Leesville and Rev. David Ingram and his wife, Kathy of Lake City; one daughter, Cindy Tate and her husband, Rick of Hurricane Mills, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, E.W. IV “Rhett” and his wife, Kelly, Nikki Price and her husband, Ben, Lauren Tate, Kelly Ingram, Zach Tate, Jordan Ingram, Davey Ingram and Cheney Ingram; two great-grandsons, Jackson Lee Ingram and Everett Mason Price; one brother, Kenneth Ray Ingram of Virginia Beach, VA.; three sisters, Elizabeth Frazier of Greenville, SC, Ora May Simpkins of Alexandrea, VA. and Catherine Loftis of Greer, SC.; a special niece/sister in-law, Yvonne Ingram of Myrtle Beach.

Funeral services, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel will be held 2 P.M. Saturday from Coastal Worship Center, located on the corner of Hwy. 544 and Forestbrook Road, with Rev. Terry Fowler, Rev. Jesse Simmons, Rev. Jerry Howell and Rev. Rick Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, his wishes were that memorials be sent to East Conway Pentecostal Holiness Church Misssions Fund, 306 Old Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29560 or to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, PO Box 50640, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

Robert Johnson

GILBERT — Services with burial for Robert Gary Johnson, 70, son of William and Della Mae Johnson Gary, will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. John CME Church, where he was a member, directed by R.O. Levy Home for Funerals, Batesburg-Leesville. He died April 17, 2005. Surviving: wife, Bertha Hill Johnson; children, Robert Jr., James, Bertha Mae Johnson; sister, Pearlie Mae Peeples; grandchildren.

Mary Johnson

CAMDEN — Services for Mary Kathryn Johnson, 87, widow of SFC Charles Johnson, daughter of the late James and Alice Doby Cooke, graduate of Browning Home and Mather Academy and Adelphia Business School, 2 p.m. Saturday: Camden First UMC. Burial: Baltimore National Cemetery, Baltimore, Md. She retired from the federal government in 1979. Surviving: sisters, Mable Baynard, Bettye Cooke.

Constance Lusk

LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Constance Comer Lusk, of Lauderhill, FL, born June 27, 1939, in Evart, MI, left our world to enter a world of one mind on April 18, 2005. She is survived by son, Dylan Lusk, Fort Mill, S.C., daughter, Samantha (Mark) Deas, Eastover, S.C., siblings, Carolyn (Dale) Gorton, Phoenix, AZ, Gerald Comer, Sacramento, CA, Caren (Gerald) Joseph, DeSoto, WI, Tommy (Deb) Comer, Mesa, AZ, grandchildren, Evan and Cameron Lusk, Katelyn and Derek Deas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Alma Comer, Plant City, FL, and Helen Comer, Columbia, S.C. She was predeceased by parents, Walter W. and Margaret M. Comer, and brothers, Cecil L. and Ercil G. Comer. The family asks that memorials be made, in her honor, to 9Muses Art Center, 7145 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Lauderhill, FL 33313. A memorial service will be held at 9Muses on Friday April 22nd. Internment will be in The Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, AZ.

Paul Marshall

HAMPTON — Services for Paul Dallas Marshall, 80, retired automobile mechanic, widower of Louise Johnson Marshall, will be held at Monday in Evergreen Cemetery, Ft. Meade, Fla., directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home. Born in Morris, IL, to Percy and Grace Marshall, he died April 20, 2005. Surviving: children, Michael Marshall, Vicki Limehouse, Penny Moseley; 10 grandchild, 13 great-grandchildren.

John Montgomery

FLORENCE — Services for John Wesley Montgomery, 83, widower of Isabella Hannah Montgomery, 3 p.m. Saturday: St. Mark Believers Holiness Church, Lake City. Burial: St. John UMC Cemetery, directed by Green’s Funeral Home. Born in Florence Co. to William and Lola Burgess, he died April 18, 2005. Surviving: children, Dorothy King, Allen, Earnest, William, Leo, Harry Montgomery; grandchildren; more.

Richard McMunn

SUMTER — Services for Richard Clee McMunn, 77, 2 p.m. Saturday (visitation 7-9 tonight): Elmore-Cannon-Stephens F.H. Burial: Evergreen Memorial Park with full military honors. Born in Metz, W.Va., to Thomas McMunn and Opal McMunn Tate, he died April 20, 2005. Surviving: wife, Dolores Pearse McMunn; children, Richard McMunn, Maria Sosa, Barbara Sexton, Dolores Polaski, Susan Dyke.

Clarence Oliver Sr.

SILVER SPRINGS, Md. — Viewing for Clarence “OC” Oliver Sr., 65, 10-11 a.m. Saturday: Job’s Mortuary. Burial: Mayesville Cemetery. Born in Lee Co., S.C., to Colin & Hattie Wilson Oliver, reared by grandmother, Hester Wilson, he died April 16, 2005. He enjoyed telling jokes to make people smile. Surviving: children, Bridget, Ramona Oliver, Patricia Davis, Fred Carr; adopted daughter, Yvonne Nesmith.

Carl Moore

LAKE CITY — Services for Carl “Pumpy” Moore, retired from Arthur McKenzie Masonry Co., noon Saturday: Mt. Clair Missionary Baptist Church. Burial: State Cemetery Green’s Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Florence Co. to Randy and Rosa McKnight Moore, he died April 17, 2005. Surviving: siblings, Dorothy, Jim Moore, Catherine Hannah; sister-in-law, Mary; special niece, Linda Hannah; others.

Terry Porth

LEXINGTON — Services for Terry L. Porth, 46, will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Leon Rawl and the Rev. Brad Bellah officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1130 St. Peter’s Church Road, Lexington, SC 29072.

Mr. Porth died Thursday. Born in Columbia, a son of Cletus S. and Violet Steele Porth, he was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and a wallpaper hanger.

Surviving are his parents of Lexington; sons, Jacob and Travis Porth, both of Lexington; stepdaughter, Kerry Porth of Lexington; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl P. (Robert) Lee of Gilbert; one stepgrandchild.

Delphia Mae Parker

FARMVILLE, N.C. — Miss Delphia Mae Parker, age 80, of 3346 Clubview Drive, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church in Farmville by Rev. Jarrett Banks. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville.

Miss Parker was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmville.

She is survived by one sister, Marjorie Corbett of Farmville, NC; niece, Phyllis Corbett Roberts of Greenville, N.C.; nephews, Johnny “John” Windham of Columbia, S.C., and Steve Windham of Wilmington, N.C.

The family will receive friends at the Farmville Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Marjorie Corbett, 3530 North Main Street, Farmville, N.C.

Kyle Salters

COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Kyle K. Salters, infant son of Keith and Sharonda Anderson Salters, of 122 Longridge Drive will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, at Anderson Chapel, Ft. Jackson. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Babyland.

J.P. Holley Funeral Home, Garners Ferry Road Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his parents of Columbia; brother, Master Keith Salters; maternal grandparents, James (Diane) Anderson; paternal grandparents, Willie Salters and Edna Salters; godparents, John (Viola) Mender.

Betty Wright Sanders

LEESVILLE — Services for Betty Wright Sanders, 64, of Leesville, will be held at 2pm Saturday in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. William C. Padgett and Rev. William F. Bishop. Burial will follow at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Convent Baptist Church Building Fund, 787 Convent Church Rd., Leesville, SC 29070.

Mrs. Sanders died Wednesday, April 20, 2005. Born in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Dorothy Pearce Wright. She had been an active member of Convent Baptist Church for a number of years. Mrs. Sanders had retired from Bell South and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

Surviving are her husband, George E. Sanders of Leesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna S. and Ricky L. Shealy of Lexington, Linda K. and Tony J. Berardo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy E. and Cheryl Sanders of Leesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vernetta W. and Harry M. McGrady of West Columbia, Kathy Ann and Ricky Wilson of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Dorothy Wright of Leesville, Jerry W. and Linda Wright of Lexington; grandchildren, Nicole Shealy and Natalie Shealy of Lexington, Mark Berardo and Hannah Berardo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mrs. Sanders was predeceased by her brother, Jimmy R. Wright of Lexington.
