CHAPIN — Services for Jodi L. Boland, 27, will be held Monday, April 25, 2005, at 11:00 AM at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with interment to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Krislynn Madison Boland Trust Fund. For further information regarding this memorial, please contact the family.

Ms. Boland died Thursday, April 21, 2005. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of Jerry L. Boland and Wanda Saville Boland.

Surviving are her daughter, Krislynn Madison Boland of Stuart, FL; mother, Wanda Saville Boland of Stuart, FL; father, Jerry L. Boland of Chapin; sister, Lauren Boland of Stuart, FL: maternal grandparents, Laura Saville of Chapin and Wayne Saville of White Rock and paternal grandparents, George and Wilma Boland of Chapin.

Janie Stewart

SUMTER — Janie L. Stewart, 71, widow of Lewis Madison Stewart, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born September 1, 1933 in Clarendon County, she was the eldest daughter of the late Berry Gibbons and the late Caddie Evans Gibbons.

She retired from the Civil Service with the US Marshall’s Office in Columbia and was also retired as Executive Secretary to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class.

Many loving memories will be cherished by two devoted daughters, Jan (Cary) Logan of Lynchburg and Beth (Butch) Harris of Anderson. She is also survived by two devoted sisters, Ann (Marshall) McDonald of New Zion and Hazelene (late James) Trexler of Sumter and three loving grandchildren, Kelli (Josh) McGregor of Lynchburg, Casey (Kristin) Logan of Hopkins and Sarah Harris of Anderson.

The family extends special thanks to “Nikki” Kennedy for her dedication and to Dr. Phil Brandt, Dr. Billy Clowney, and the Oncology Medical Staff at Tuomey Regional Medical Center for their care in her long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the New Zion United Methodist Church with Dr. Clay Smith, Rev. Tommy Comer, and Rev. Donnie Collins officiating.

Burial will be in the New Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Casey Logan, Josh McGregor, Terry Trexler, Jimmy Trexler, Kevin McKenzie, Rusty Evans, and Randy Evans.

Brian McDonald will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends at her home, 810 Grimble Court.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Gelston

COLUMBIA — Graveside services for Miss Dorothy Lee Gelston, 81, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 25, 2005, in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia, S.C. Rev. David W. Setzer will officiate.

Miss Gelston died Saturday, April 23, 2005. Born in Columbia, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John William and Etta Burley Gelston. She was a member of Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Columbia College, and was retired from C&S Bank.

Surviving are her sister, Nellie G. “Nell” Blakeney, of Kershaw, S.C.

Memorials in Miss Gelston’s memory may be made to the Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201.

Robert Carpenter Sr.

SUMTER — Services for Robert Carpenter Sr., 79, are incomplete. Job’s Mortuary is in charge. Born in Lexington, Kentucky to Robert Carpenter and Alice Dunn, he died April 22, 2005. Surviving are wife, Paralee Wilder Carpenter.

Mary Jane Paradiso

CAMDEN — Mrs. Mary Jane “Pudge” Paradiso, 78, of Camden, SC, died Sunday, April 17, 2005. Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Grace Episcopal Church in Camden, SC with Father Douglas Holmes officiating.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five (55) years: Anthony Paradiso of Camden, SC; sons: Robert Paradiso, Michael Paradiso and Timothy Paradiso; sister: Josephine Lawhon; brothers: Joseph Smith, Monroe Smith and Patrick Smith; nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Tri-County at 2039 West Dekalb, Building 2, Camden, SC 29020 or to The American Cancer Society.

Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta, GA was in charge of arrangements.

Louvenia Lowery

FLORENCE — Services for Louvenia Lowery, 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Job’s Mortuary with burial in Solomon Cemetery. Born in Lee Co. to Wesley Lowery and Mattie Solomon Lowery Laws, she died April 19, 2005. Surviving are nieces; nephews; others.

Edward Reynolds Jr.

GREENVILLE — Edward Hays “Bubber” Reynolds, Jr. passed away Friday, April 22, 2005, after a lengthy bout with cancer. Bubber was born August 9, 1923, in Greenwood, South Carolina, the second son of the late Edward Hays Reynolds, Sr. and Rebekah Graham Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne Janes Reynolds and two brothers, Edward Alexander Reynolds of Columbia and Harry Graham Reynolds of Trenton, South Carolina. He is also survived by his five children and their spouses, Edward Hays Reynolds, III (Cherry), John Alexander Reynolds (Lib), Susan Carson Reynolds, Jacqueline Reynolds McLeod (Parks), and Harry Neel Reynolds (Pam), all of Greenville; and fifteen grandchildren, Hays Reynolds, IV, Charlie Reynolds, Lee Reynolds, John Reynolds, Jr., Ann Marie Reynolds, Elizabeth Reynolds, Katherine Reynolds, Suzanne Broome, Lee Broome, Parks McLeod, Jr., Reynolds McLeod, Martha McLeod, Ashley Reynolds, Caroline Reynolds, and Rebecca Reynolds.

Bubber grew up in Columbia, SC, graduated from Clemson College, Class of 1944, B.S. Textile Engineering, and served as a Captain with the 42nd Infantry Division in Europe in World War II. After the War, he moved to Greenville and worked in sales with Keever Starch Company. Shortly afterwards, he began working in sales with Charles S. Tanner Company and in 1960, started The Compressor Corp. of America. In 1967, he started Tanner Chemical Company (Tanco Adhesives).

In 1978, Bubber resigned as President of Tanco and founded The Reynolds Company. He retired in 1999, and spent considerable time fishing for flounder in the creeks at Litchfield and Pawleys Island. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed duck hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Bubber served as past President of both the Poinsett Club and the Greenville Country Club. He was a member of The Cotillion Club and the Pawleys Island Yacht Club, and a member and former deacon at Fourth Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Monday, April 25th, at Fourth Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Allen McSween officiating. A memorial service for the family will be held in the Church Memorial Garden immediately following the 4:00 service. Following the services, the family will receive friends at the home, 855 South Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, S.C. 29607.

Honorary pallbearers are Frank Halter, Knox Haynsworth, Jr., Jack Stripling, Robert Country Harrison, Dick Osborne, Lang Donkle, Bennett Hudson, Bob Yeargin, John Wood, Sr., Coy Huffman, Jr., Frank Hammond, Dave Reese, Bill Robinson, Donald McKellar, Julian Friday, Reggie Crouch, and Harry King.

The family would like to express its appreciation to the caregivers at Hospice of St. Francis, Caroline Stone, and Dr. Mark O’Rourke.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hospice House of Greenville Fund, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605-4085 or Clement’s Kindness at the Community Foundation, 27 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601.

GABLE — Services for Martin Sacramento Urbina, 36, are 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Hope Mission Catholic Church with private burial in Clarendon Memorial Gardens, Manning. Visitation 3-6 tonight at Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory, Manning. He was born in Fremont, Ohio to Manuel and Juanita Ysasi Urbina. Surviving are parents; siblings, Juan, Diana Urbina, Maria Rosebaum, Sara Florez.

Flossie Clinkscales

ORANGEBURG — Services for Flossie Mae Hammond Clinkscales, 92, widow of Clarence Clinkscales, are noon (viewing at 11 a.m.) today at St. Luke Presbyterian Church (USA); burial in Belleville Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Simmons Funeral Home is in charge. Born to Thomas and Anna Drake Hammond, she died April 20, 2005. Surviving: brother, Thomas Hammond; 2 nephews; 1 niece; others.

Spencer Ackerman

COLUMBIA — Memorial service for Spencer Perry Ackerman, 60, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral or to a charity of one’s choice. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mr. Ackerman died Friday, April 22, 2005. Born in Lancaster, Pa., he was a son of Marjorie Louise Bower Ackerman and the late Richard Samuel Ackerman. He graduated from high school in Leesburg,m Va. and also from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va. He received a masters degree in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. and a doctorate in Education from the University of Georgia in Athens.

Mr. Ackerman served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Since 1980 he had been employed with the S.C. Department of Mental Health as Risk Manager.

Mr. Ackerman was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-six years, Beverly Ackerman; son and daughter-in-law, Stewart P. and Tania Ackerman and their sons, David Stewart and Devon Charles Ackerman, of Dallas, Ga.; his mother of Winder, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Mark Stewart and Dixie Ackerman of Grayson, Ga.; niece, Erin Ackerman and nephew, Matthew Ackerman, both of Grayson.

Wade M. McIntyre

COLUMBIA — Funeral service, with full military honors, for MSGT Wade M. “Mac” McIntyre, U. S. Army (Ret), will be held 1 o’clock, Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Woodfield Park Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock Tuesday evening at Shives Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Woodfield Park Baptist Church, 1834 Morninglo Ln., Columbia, SC 29223.

Born May 24, 1931, in Anson County, NC, he was a son of the late Charlie and Mae Frone McIntyre of Albemarle, NC. Mr. McIntyre retired from the U. S. Army in 1971 after 22 years of service. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. Mr. McIntyre retired from Civil Service at Fort Jackson, SC and worked for DOL Weapons Pool. He was a member of Woodfield Park Baptist Church where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris McIntyre; sons, James Michael (Cheryl) McIntyre of Jacksonville, FL, Dwight Lee (Martha) McIntyre of Elgin, SC; brother, Joe Edward (Laura) McIntyre of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; grandsons, Jason (Misty) McIntyre of Lugoff, SC, Micah McIntyre of Jacksonville, FL, Ryan McIntyre of Elgin, SC; four great-grandchildren.

Martha Grubbs

BARNWELL — Services for Martha Ethelyn Grubbs, 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday (visitation 6-8 tonight) at Dyches Funeral Home; burial in Barnwell Memory Garden. Born in Barnwell Co. to William Boyd and Elizabeth Ushry, she died April 23, 2005. She was a member of Ashleigh Baptist Church. Surviving: siblings, Marie Collins, Marion Hanson, W.C. Boyd; niece, Linda Blanton; other nieces and nephews.
