Bobbie Broach

COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Mrs. Bobbie Holley Broach, 74, of Columbia, will be held 11 o’clock, Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, with The Reverend James W. Thompson, III officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, SC at 1:30. The family will receive friends at her daughter’s home located at 116 Ballenger Road, Blythewood, and from 5:30 until 7:30 Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church Youth, 1920 Cedar Creek Road, Blythewood, SC, 29016.

Mrs. Broach, widow of Leroy C. Broach, died Sunday, April 24, 2005. Born in Chesterfield County, SC, she was a daughter of the late James G. and Mary Horton Holley. She was a former employee of Southern Bell and Seibels, Bruce and Co. Mrs. Broach was a member of the Holiday Ramblers, Woodmen of the World, and St. Andrews Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Hixon and husband John of Blythewood; son James C. “Butch” Broach of Columbia; grandchildren, J. Adam Hixon, Jr., Kristen J. Hixon and Karleigh D. Hixon all of Blythewood; sister, Mary B. Austin of Columbia.

Edna Clyburn

KERSHAW — Funeral Services for Edna Harris Clyburn, 90, widow of former Lancaster County Senator Beckham Hilton Clyburn, will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2005 from the Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Dr. James Spencer will officiate.

Mrs. Clyburn died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at her home. Born in the Pleasant Plain Community of Kershaw, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Columbus and Cora Blackmon Harris. She was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, and retired from Springs Industries with 37 years of service. Mrs. Clyburn enjoyed genealogy research and assisted others for more than 70 years.

Surviving are her daughter, Melody Craig, and her husband, Walter of Kershaw, S.C.; grandchildren, Walt Craig, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Lancaster, Tracey Taylor and her husband, Phillip of Lancaster; great grandchildren, Gleynnda Michelle Craig, Sloane Kathryn Taylor and Caden Craig Taylor and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Clyburn family will receive friends, Monday, April 25, 2005 from 6-8 pm at Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, 3795 Pleasant Plain Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.

Erven Walker

NORTH — Erven Walker, 77, of North, died Saturday, April 23, 2005.

Mr. Walker was born in Aiken County, a son of the late John and Nettie Sizemore Walker. He was married to the late Louise Young Walker. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a former Chief of Police for the Town of North. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church of Orangeburg. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Walker.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Walker, of North; a daughter, Judy Bolin, of North; four grandchildren: Chad and Britney Walker, and Andrew and Casey Bolin; and a great-grandson, Jacob Bolin.

Friends may call at the home of the son, Douglas Walker, 5535 Salley Road, North. Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Stancil

RUBY — Mr. Richard Stancil, 63, died Sunday, April 24, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Cross Roads Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield.

Mr. Stancil was born in Mt. Croghan, SC a son of the late James Woodrow and Grace Monile Horne Stancil. He was Vice President of Carolina Bank in Chesterfield, SC and served 35 years in the banking industry. He was also a member of the Carolina Bank Advisory Board. Richard was a charter member and former Chief of Ruby-Mt. Croghan Fire Department with 25 years of active service, and was still serving as an Honorary member. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard, a member of the Chesterfield Service Club, a member of the Greater Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Ruby Masonic Lodge 314. Mr. Stancil was a former member of the Chesterfield County Economic Development Board. Richard was a faithful member of Cross Road Baptist Church where he served in various positions through the years. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Stancil.

Survivors: wife, Patricia Lea Crawley Stancil of the home; 1 son, Russell Stancil of Mt. Croghan, SC; 1 daughter, Heather Stancil of Ruby, S.C. and fiance’, Chris Lisenby; aunts, Ruby Harward of Wadesboro, NC and Susie Baker of Ruby, SC; uncle, Willie Mills of Pageland, SC; also several nieces and nephews including special niece Michelle Sanders of Bryceville, FL.

Memorials may be made to Ruby-Mt. Croghan Fire Dept., PO Box 8, Mt. Croghan, SC 29727; Cross Roads Baptist Church, 4963 Cross Roads Church Rd., Ruby, SC 29741; Paws and Claws Humane Society, P.O. Box 386, Chesterfield, SC 29709.

Jasmine Brown

BLACKVILLE — Services for Jasmine “Jazz” Denean Brown, 13, 4 p.m. Wednesday at Blackville-Hilda High School Auditorium, burial in Hope Memorial Park, visitation 6-8 tonight at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Guinyard & Son’s Funeral Home, Barnwell, is in charge. Born in Blackville to Gregory Sr. and Tabitha Brown, she died April 21, 2005. Surviving: parents; siblings, Gregory Jr., Chawndalyn; others.

Jesse P. Wood

ST. MATTHEWS — Mr. Jesse P. Wood, Sr., of 62 Ridgewood Court, died Friday, April 22, 2005. Born in Oxford County, Maine, he was the son of the late Ernest Mayberry and Phyllis Hunt. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Forest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Golding; son, Eugene Wood; daughters, Ramonia Brown, Norma Wood, all of Biddeford, Maine; brothers, Clayton Wood, Ralph Wood; five grandchildren.

J.P. Holley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Genevieve “Jenny” Sanders

BAMBERG — Genevieve “Jenny” Sanders, 48, of 638 Appache Road, Bamberg, SC, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2005, at Bamberg County Hospital. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Word of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 85 North Street, Bamberg, SC. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Pastor Jerry R. Catledge and Rev. Donnie Delk will officiate. Burial will be in Southend Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg, SC, is in charge. Pallbearers will be Ryan Truett, Charles Livingston, Jamie Sweatman, Howie Cogburn, Eric Grooms, and James Mizzelle. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of the Operating Room at The Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 27, 1957, in Darlington, SC. She was the daughter of the late Harry Lee Truett, Sr. and the late Lois (Dolly) O’Neal Truett. She was a registered nurse with The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Michael (Angela) Sweatman, Casey Cogburn, both of Bamberg, SC; 1 son, Morgan Sanders of Bamberg; 5 grandchildren, Ashton and Jonathan Sweatman, Brayder and Grayson Cogburn, Christopher (Aiden) Robinson; 3 sisters, Libby Truett, Marie Truett, and Lynn Crosby all of Bamberg, SC; 2 brothers, Harry Lee Truett, Jr. and his wife Linda Truett of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jason Truett and his wife Becky Truett both of St. George, SC; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Friends may call at the residence, 638 Appache Road, Bamberg, SC and at the funeral home. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Minnie Lee Balchin

GREENWOOD — Minnie Lee Fulmer Balchin, 100, widow of William Balchin, died April 24, 2005, in Lexington Medical Center Extended Care in Lexington, S.C.

Born August 5, 1904, in Aiken County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Thompson Fulmer. She had retired from Greenwood Mills, Grendal and Mathews Plants.

She was a member of Coronaca Baptist Church for 68 years, where she sang in the choir and was a former children’s worker. She was also a member of the Senior Group of Coronaca Baptist Church and several other churches.

Mrs. Balchin was twice married, first to the late Eddie Morrow.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Furman (Pat F.) Morrow of W. Columbia; three grandchildren, Betty Christopher, Jan West and Chip Morrow; five great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters, Billie Wilson, Sara Jo Nickles, Doris Ashley and Flonnie Slaw; several Balchin grandchildren.

She was predeceased by twelve siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coronaca Baptist Church with Rev. David Tester and Rev. Wade Burton officiating.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Morrow, David Morrow, Mickey Balchin, Danny Summey, Herman Gene Morrow and Rudy Adams.

Honorary escort will be Deacons and the Men of Coronaca Baptist Church.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home, and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Pat Morrow, 120 Woodside Parkway in W. Columbia and will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to Coronaca Baptist Church, 300 Hwy. 246 N., Greenwood, SC 29649.

Charles Hall

WINNSBORO — Services for Charles Ralph Hall, 66, S.C. Dept. of Labor retiree, retired USAF Master Sgt., 2 p.m. Thursday (visitation 6-8 tonight): Barron Funeral Home. Burial: Chester Memorial Gardens. Born in Whitmire to Fred and Mary Pitillo Hall, he died April 24, 2005. Surviving: wife, Joanne Pitts Hall; children, Tina Murphey, Yvon Feaster, Billy Ray, Deryl Owens; brother, Carl; grandchild, great-grandchildren.

Sean Seibles

WINNSBORO — Funeral services for Sean Seibles, 18, of 189 High Hill Road, will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at St. Luke Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held at Glover’s Memorial Chapel from 1 to 9 p.m. today. Born in Richland County, Sean died April 23, 2005, after a lengthy illness. Surviving are father, Preston Seibles; mother, Emma Murray Seibles; stepmother, Myra Seibles; sister, Nicole Kincade; brothers, Bryant Seibles, Terrance Murray, Juwan and Khalil Keitt; nieces, N’dia Williams and Ayeola Murray and a host of other relatives and friends. Billy Shannon Porter

ORANGEBURG — Billy Shannon Porter, 37, died Saturday, April 23, 2005. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Dukes-Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Porter was born in Lakeland, FL, the beloved son of Billy C. Porter and Mary-Glynn Myers. He left us far too soon and we will miss him terribly. He will always be with us as he left behind so much of himself in the hearts and memories of those he touched. In the patients he tended as he served this community for several years as a respected registered nurse and surgical nurse. In his final unselfish act, when he chose to be an organ donor, saving the lives of as many as 6 or more people, and helping even more.

Survivors: 2 cherished and beautiful daughters: Meagan Nicole Porter, age 15, Bethany Jade Porter, age 9; mother, Brandon, FL; father, Orangeburg; 2 loving sisters, Sherri-Lynn, Tampa, FL, Heidi Allyson, Lucedale, MS; and nieces and nephews, Amanda, Alex, Kayla, Ali, and Javed, many uncles, aunts, and cousins and friends.
