Robert L. Morton

GREENVILLE — Robert L. Morton, 80, of Greenville, died Sunday, May 1, 2005.

Born in Summitt, GA, he was the son of the late Otto H. and Fannie Cook Morton.

He served in the US Navy during WW II and was of the Baptist faith.

He retired in 1986 after being a self-employed entrepreneur in a variety of businesses.

He is survived by his wife: Frances “Sue” Franklin Morton of the home; a son: Gregg Morton and his wife Cathy of Alexandria, VA; a daughter: Ava M. McNair and her husband Philip K. McNair III of Mauldin, SC; two brothers: J.A. Morton and Otto H. Morton, Jr.; two sisters: Bessie Emenecker and Ruby Aull, all of Aiken, SC; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans organization.

Mary Livingston

POMARIA — Services for Mary Elizabeth Bundrick Livingston will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 173 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC 29126 or to the Pomaria Rescue Squad, c/o Kathy Leitzsey, 1245 Leitzsey Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Mrs. Livingston, 81, died April 30, 2005. Born in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late John and Eloise Miller Bundrick. She formerly worked for the Lowman Home, was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a member of the 83rd Infantry Division Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, William Felix Livingston. She was predeceased by a brother, John Alfred Bundrick.

Hieu Chi Nguyen

CHARLOTTE — Visitation for Hieu Chi Nguyen, 51, will be Tuesday 5-9 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, S.C.

Mr. Nguyen died Saturday, April 30, 2005. Born in Vietnam, he was the son of the late Phat Thanh Nguyen and Thieu Thi Phan. He was employed with Marshall’s.

Mr. Nguyen enjoyed reading and writing.

Surviving are son, Duc Nguyen of Irmo; daughter, Nhung Nguyen of Irmo; sister, Diep Nguyen of Charlotte; granddaughter, Ivy Nguyen of Irmo; and nephew, Phong Nguyen of Charlotte

Mary G. Russell

EASLEY — Mary Glover Russell, 88, of 1 Hoke Smith Blvd., Greenville, formerly of Blue Ridge Circle, Easley, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Rolling Green Healthcare in Greenville.

A native of Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Hayne Perry and Lena Wall Glover. Mrs. Russell was a graduate of Greenville High School and the University of North Carolina, class of 1938. After graduation, she taught school in Rutherfordton, NC and Easley. Mrs. Russell was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church, and while in Easley, she was a charter member of the Iris Garden Club and a member of the Better Homes Club.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Hamilton Earle Russell, Jr. and his wife Sally of Greenville, Dr. Wilson Glover Russell and his wife Marcia of Winston-Salem, NC; a daughter, Perry Russell Gilreath and her husband Gil of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. NeillMcCauley “Lena” Perrin of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Hamilton Earle Russell, III, Katherine Russell Sagedy, Robert Thomason Russell, Mary D’Oyley Gilreath, Julia Gilreath Stoll, Kay Huntington Gilreath, Stuart Hale Russell, Virginia Wilson Russell;and six great grandchildren, Hamilton Earle Russell, IV, Samuel Stillwell Russell, Louis Charles Sagedy, III, Mary McKeithan Sagedy, Perry Glover Gilreath, and Wills Thompson Stoll. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, H.Earle “Shorty” Russell.

A memorial service will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Easley Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Tuesday in the church parlor.

The family is at the home of a son, Dr. and Mrs. Earle Russell, 26 Rock Creek Drive, Greenville, S.C. 29605 where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Miracle Hill Ministries; 2419 Wade Hampton Boulevard; Greenville, SC 29615 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marion B. Uldrick

GREENVILLE — Marion Baskin Uldrick, 80, Veteran, of 604 Roper Mountain Road, husband of Virginia S Uldrick, died Saturday, April 30, 2005.

Born in Abbeville, SC, he was a son of the late William Baskin and Kirby Lee Cothran Uldrick.

He was a President of Uldrick & Company, Inc. until his retirement, a past President of the Greenville Home Builders Association and a member of the State and National Associations. He was a member of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors. And a member of the Sertoma Club of Greenville.

Mr. Uldrick was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and was an U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Lisa Uldrick of Greenville, a granddaughter Victoria Nicole Payne and a grandson, Michael Scott Payne and his wife Lindsay of Greenville. He was predeceased in death by a son, Stephen Michael Uldrick. Also surviving are a brother, Lucius B. Uldrick and his wife, Julia F. Uldrick of Seneca, two nieces, Kimberly Yamshack and her husband Marty of Starr, SC and Dr. Kelly Pew and her husband Paul of Easley, two great nieces, Paige Pew of Easley and Rachael Yamshack of Starr, SC and two great nephews, Harrison Pew of Easley and Jacob Yamshack of Starr, SC.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 3:00 P. M. at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. Doug Bowling and the Rev. Dr. James Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home but will receive friends at The Mackey Mortuary Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, 15 University Street, Greenville, SC 29601, Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, 200 Buncombe Street, Greenville, SC 29601 or the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.

Jack Gardner

SALUDA — John Sheppard “Jack” Gardner, Jr., 80, of 152 Shiloh Rd., died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late John Sheppard, Sr. and Elizabeth Eugenia Bladon Gardner, he was the husband of Annie Lanell Scurry Gardner. He was retired from Milliken & Co. and was a horse Farrier. Mr. Gardner was a US Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre and was a member of the American Legion Post 76 and the DAV and a former member of the Old Town Ruritan Club. He was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church where he had served as Superintendent of Sunday School and was Sunday School teacher of the Adult Class. He was also a past chairman of the Administration Board of the church and was a former trustee of the church and a choir member.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Lanell Scurry Gardner, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles K. and Celia T. Gardner of Saluda, two daughters, and sons-in-law, Sandra G. and W. Merchant Padget and Donna G. and J. Kenneth Rushton all of Saluda; one brother, B. G. Gardner of Saluda, one sister, Margaret McGwan of Clinton, grandchildren, John Gardner, Jamie and Dean Butler, MeriAn Padget, Kayla Rushton and Mark Rushton and a great-grandchild, Jordan Butler.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Zoar United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

Reba Chapman

PROSPERITY — Services for Reba Elizabeth Chapman will be at 3 PM Tuesday May 3, 2005 at Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 until 7:30 Monday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Mrs. Chapman, 72, died April 30, 2005. She was born in Newberry County, a daughter of the late George Andrew and Nancy Jane Cook Bowers . She was a graduate of Prosperity High School. A lady of many talents, Mrs. Chapman was a devoted daughter, a supportive wife and a loving mother.

Surviving are her husband, Junius Cloyd Chapman; sons Tony L. (Pam) Chapman of Irmo, and Cary “Casey” (Ann) Chapman of Newberry, a daughter, Belva C. Beck; of Prosperity, brothers, Oscar W. (Marion) Bowers of Prosperity, and J. Samuel Bowers of Newberry; eight grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Naomi Brown Hallman

SALLEY — Mrs. Naomi Brown Hallman, 83, died Sunday, May 1, 2005.

Mrs. Hallman was born in Aiken County. She was the daughter of the late Tommy and Iva Baily Brown. Mrs. Hallman was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was formerly employed at Wagener Manufacturing, where she was a supervisor.

Mrs. Hallman is survived by her husband of 60 years, Terrell “Tater” Hallman, Sr., daughters, Diana Storey and Cheryl Yon, grandchildren Larry Eadie, Michael Storey, Craig, Steve, Ashley, and Alisha Hallman, and a sister, Thelma Hoff.

Visitation will be Monday, May 2 from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, SC.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m., from the Salley Oak View Cemetery. Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 Main St. South, Wagener, S.C. (803) 564-5333 is in charge of services.

John Franklin

LAURENS — Services with burial for John Earl Franklin, 59, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was a member. Goins Funeral Home is in charge. Born to Johnny and Shirley Franklin, he died April 27, 2005. Surviving are parents; son, Calvin Franklin; daughters, Wanda Watts, Chanda Franklin; brothers, Eugene Franklin, Thomas Baker; sister, Patricia Stevenson; nine grandchildren.

Marion Harris

SUMTER — Entombment for Marion A. Bolton Harris, 97, widow of Monroe Harris, will be held in Lone Oak Cemetery and Mausoleum, Leesburg, Fla. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Born in Detroit to Jack and Agnes Bolton, he died April 30, 2005. Surviving are grandchildren, Robert, John, Thomas, Jim, Jerry, Cathy, Don Harris, Pam Roberts, Darlene Ames; great-grandchildren.

Keith Livingston

NORTH — Services with burial for Keith Livingston, 31, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Maloney Baptist Church. Visitation is 4-9 tonight at W.B. Crumel Funeral Home. Born to Kitt Jr. and Gearldine Bowens Livingston, he died April 28, 2005. Surviving are son, Juantavion Livingston; mother; brothers, Darrien, Kitt II, Marko Livingston; fiancee, Deshannon Rowe; grandmother, Mattie Bowens.

Thomas W. Mitchell

LAKE CITY — Thomas Williams (Tommy) Mitchell, 48, died Friday at his residence after an illness.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Elizabeth City, NC, a son of the late C.P. Mitchell, Jr. and Lila Elizabeth Cantwell Mitchell Gilland. He was a graduate of Williamsburg Academy and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Mitchell was a political appointee from 1982-1992 under the Reagan and Bush administrations as Deputy Secretary of Food and Nutritional Services in the US Department of Agriculture and was later a Loan Specialist for Rural Development. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Kingstree. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his step-father, Thorne Gilland.

Survivors: his mother, of Lake City; wife, Vickie Boyd Mitchell, and daughter, Hannah Mitchell, both of Kingstree; 3 brothers, Charles (Phyllis) Mitchell, III of Nashville, NC, Rev. Paul (Becky) Mitchell of Walhalla, SC, and David (Elizabeth) Mitchell of Summerville; 1 sister, Lila G. (Charles) Isgett of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Williamsburg Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
