CORDOVA — Graveside services for Annie Ruth Broadway Rahe, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in West End Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, Orangeburg. Born in Paxville to the late Lewis and Alma Broadway, she died May 2, 2005, in Texas . Surviving are children, Sylvia Ann King of Cordova, Steven (Connie) Rahe of League City, Texas ; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.

Rick Foster

COLUMBIA — Funeral Services for Mr. James Rick Roster, 53, of Columbia, will be held at 3:00 p.m. today in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Raymond Timmerman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Serenity Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tony Banks, Phillip Bates, Chuck Holbert, Deems Knight, Kinny Massey and Al McGarity. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Research Foundation, 3608 Landmark Drive, Suite C, Columbia, SC 29204. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Mr. Foster died May 1, 2005. Born on May 8, 1951, in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late James Peter Foster and Dorothy Campbell Foster. Mr. Foster was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his mother, Dorothy C. Foster of Cheraw; two daughters, Jamie Foster of Columbia and Jackie Foster Tyler of Conway; three brothers, Jerry Foster of Knoxville, TN, Johnny Foster of Eden, NC, and Russ Foster of Columbia; three grandchildren, Makayla, Gregory and Ranyhyn; nieces and nephews, Kim, Tiffany, Shelly, Jason, Rusty, Ruskin and George.

Willie Harling Freeman

EDGEFIELD — Mrs. Willie Harling Freeman, of 603 Mims St., died May 1, 2005. Services are 3 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Lloyd officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Survivors: son, Julian Curtis Freeman and wife, Doris McManus Freeman of Edgefield; grandsons, Wayne (Luann) Freeman, Mililani, Hawaii, Gerald (Areka) Freeman, Aiken, Dexter (Linda) Dawkins, Edgefield; great-grandchildren, Ashli, Lauren, Zachary Freeman. Family will receive friends at the home of her son, Julian Freeman, 603 Mims St., Edgefield. Public viewing will be at Davis Funeral Home of Johnston, Wednesday, May 4, 2005, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. (Quiet Hour from 6-8 p.m.). Public viewing will also be 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday. Body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Eloise Davis

COLUMBIA — Services for Mrs. Eloise Davis Davis, formerly of 4925 James St., will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Ridgewood Baptist Church, with burial in Zion Chapel Baptist Church #1 Cemetery. Palmer Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Mrs. Davis died Sunday, May 1, 2005. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late George and Lizzie Gordon Davis. She was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are a niece, Lizzie Mack; a nephew, Robert Mack; other nieces and nephews.

Charles Goff

LANCASTER — Mr. Charles Wesley “Charlie” Goff, age 66, of 1184 West Shore Drive, died Tuesday morning, May 3, 2005, at his home. He was born October 14, 1938, in Columbia, S.C., the son of the late Homer Buford Goff, Sr. and Martha Allen Goff and was the husband of Kay Yarborough Goff. Mr. Goff graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1956 and Clemson University in 1960. He retired from Springs Industries as an Industrial Engineer, was a member of the Lancaster Moose Lodge and held several offices including Governor, a Mason with the Jackson Masonic Lodge serving as former Secretary, was a Charter member of Junior Achievement of Lancaster, and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Goff is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kay Yarborough Goff of the home, 3 daughters, Charli Yarborough Goff Montgomery and her husband Jon of Lancaster, Dr. Jessica Katherine Yarborough Goff of Simpsonville, and Angelia Goff Davis of Tega Kay, a son, Chuck Goff of Chicago, IL, 2 brothers, H. Buford Goff, Jr. and his wife Barbara and Robert Allen Goff both of Columbia, a sister, Jane Goff Berry and her husband Col. James A. Berry of Hopkins, S.C., 3 grandchildren, Katie Elaine Montgomery, Lauren Davis, and Michael Davis, 6 nieces and 6 nephews.

The Goff family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Hospice of Lancaster and Dr. Mary Audrey Ackerman and her staff at South Carolina Oncology in Columbia, S.C.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Goff will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Chris Wingard.

Mr. Paul Brown Stacks

Mr. Paul Brown Stacks, age 69, died Monday, October 18, 2004 at his home. He was born July 14, 1935 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Dexter D. Stacks and Sarah Bessie Gettis Stacks and was the husband of Norma Jean Roberts Stacks. Mr. Stacks was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Mr. Stacks is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Roberts Stacks of the home, a daughter, Paula Jean Stacks of Lancaster, a grandson raised in the home, Matthew Paul Stacks, 3 sisters, Frances Steele, Jackie Sowell, and Judy King all of Lancaster, and his mother-in-law, Willie Mae Roberts of Lancaster.

Mr. Stacks was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Sebbie Stacks, Carl Stacks, Johnny Stacks, and Dave Stacks, and 3 sisters, Ollie Mae Blakely, Leslie Love, and Alma Moree.

Mrs. Nancy Wilson Surratt

Mrs. Nancy Wilson Surratt, age 67, died Saturday evening, December 11, 2004 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born July 12, 1937 in Great Falls, SC the daughter of Margaret Black Wilson and the late Robert Wesley Wilson and was the wife of the late Alfred Henry Surratt, Sr. Mrs. Surratt was a retired supervisor for Skyline Limited and Springs Industries – HW Close Plant and a member of Elgin Baptist Church.

Mrs. Surratt is survived by her mother, Margaret Black Wilson of Lancaster, a son, Henry Surratt, Jr. and his wife Beth of Rock Hill, SC, a daughter, Arlene Surratt Rollins and her husband Ralph of Jefferson, SC, 2 sisters, Sylvia Plyler and her husband Lowry of Lancaster, and Starr McMullen and her husband Paul of Ft. Myers, FL, 6 grandchildren, Jason Williams, Adam Williams, Lee Williams, Nicole Blanton, Justin Surratt and Tyler Surratt and 1 great grandchild, Madison Brasington.

Mrs. Surratt was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Surratt Hinson and a grandson, Jamie Blanton.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Surratt will be 3:00 pm, Monday, December 13, 2004 at Elgin Baptist Church by Rev. Charles McAteer with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lula Hinson Hinson

Mrs. Lula Hinson Hinson, age 83, of 1073 Rocky River Road, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Piedmont Medical Center. She was born Jan 5, 1922 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Willie R. Hinson and Gaynelle Bowers Hinson and was wife of Bonnie Hinson. Mrs. Hinson was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years.

Mrs. Hinson is survived by her husband, Bonnie Hinson of the home, 2 sons, Bonnie Howell Hinson and his wife Chris of Charlotte, and Wayne Douglas Hinson of Lancaster, 3 daughters, Dorothy “Dot” H. Faile and her husband Robert C. “Sambo” of Lancaster, Peggy H. Crenshaw of Conway, and Brenda H. Whitaker of Lancaster, a brother, James Carl Hinson and a sister, Ollie Mae Hunter both of Lancaster, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hinson was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Trista Hinson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Hinson will be 2:00 pm, Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2005 at Union Baptist Church by Rev. Doug Humphries and Rev. Alpheus Evans with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Judith Easterling McLean Rowell

Mrs. Judith Easterling McLean Rowell, age 56, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born May 18, 1948 in Lumberton, NC, the daughter of the late Martin Luther McLean and Kathryn Easterling McLean and was the wife of the late Andrew Hoyt Rowell, Jr. Mrs. Rowell retired from Springs Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Rowell is survived by a daughter, Lucy Rowell Coonrod and her husband Joseph of Lampasas, TX and 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Anna Marie and Luke Coonrod.

Mrs. Rowell was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Marie Rowell.

Mr. Brown Crenshaw, Sr.

Mr. Brown Crenshaw, Sr., age 80, of 1486 Riverside Road, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born June 1, 1925 in Lancaster County the son of the late Samuel Ezra Crenshaw and Edna Stacks Crenshaw and was the husband of Billie Davidson Crenshaw. Mr. Crenshaw was the retired local business owner of Brown’s Billiards “Home Away From Home”, a past member of the American Legion, VFW, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Crenshaw also served our great country in the United States Army during World War II where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

Mr. Crenshaw is survived by his wife Billie Davidson Crenshaw of the home, 3 sons, Jimmy Crenshaw of Myrtle Beach, Johnny Crenshaw and his wife Deborah and Brown Crenshaw, Jr. and his wife Kelly both of Lancaster, 6 daughters, Sue C. Barfield of Lancaster, Vickie C. Robinson and her husband Wayne of Lancaster, Kim C. Bumgardner and her husband Ruddy of Lancaster, Pat C. Blanton of Myrtle Beach, Cindy C. Smith and her husband Jerry Lee of Rock Hill, and Leigh C. Hoke and her husband Steve of Lancaster, 2 step-sons, David Pickford and his wife Laura of Buford, GA, and Ricky Pickford and his wife Denise of Summerville, a step-daughter, Pam P. Pate and her husband Mark of Heath Springs, 2 sisters, Mildred C. Taylor of Lancaster, and Elizabeth C. Chappell of Kershaw, 29 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

Mr. Crenshaw was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Elliott Crenshaw and Jackie Crenshaw and a sister, Louise Crenshaw.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Crenshaw will be 3:00 pm, Monday, May 15, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. Bill Poore and Rev. Rob O’Neal. Burial with military honors will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mary Bailey Marshall

Mrs. Mary Bailey Marshall, age 92, died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Lancaster Convalescent Center where she was a resident. She was born September 14, 1915 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Ezra Bailey and Ada Fleming Bailey and was the wife of the late John Francis Marshall. Mrs. Marshall was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Esther Harper Circle, the St. Luke Golden Agers, and Past President of the Home Demonstration Club.

Mrs. Marshall was survived by a son, David Marshall and his wife Frances of Lancaster, 3 daughters, Elsie Phillips and her husband Wilson “Punk” of Lancaster, Rachel Brashear and her husband Bob of Lutz, FL and Diane Criminger and her husband Ewell of Lancaster, a brother, Ned W. Bailey of Lancaster, a daughter-in-law, Mrya Marshall, 8 grandchildren, Clifford Marshall, Leah P. Kenyon, Amy Parker, Brian Marshall, Renee Holcomb, Robert Brashear, Kyle Criminger and Julie Criminger, and 2 great grandchildren, Zachary Holcomb and Nate Marshall.

Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by a son, William Marshall, and 2 brothers, John T. Bailey, and Gary Bailey.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Marshall will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 20, 2008 at St. Luke United Methodist Church by Rev. Kyle Randle with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. E.J. McManus, Jr., age 78, of 937 Community Lane, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born May 9, 1929 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Effel Jack McManus, Sr. and Hessie Baker McManus and was the husband of Myrtis Hinson McManus. Mr. McManus retired from Springs Industries, was a Mason with Fork Hill Masonic Lodge #316, a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and served our great country in the United States Navy.

Mr. McManus was survived by his wife, Myrtis H. McManus of the home, 2 sons, Nathan McManus and his wife Janie, Arnold McManus, 2 daughters Denise Workman and her husband Tony and LuAnne Mungo and her husband Devin all of Lancaster, 6 grandchildren, Kenny Workman, Chery Workman, Charlie McManus, Carrie McManus, Brandon Mungo and Matthew Mungo, 6 brothers, Ralph McManus, Olin McManus, Carl Lee McManus, Henry McManus, James McManus and John McManus, and 5 sisters, Louise Bowers, Lillian Phillips, Alene Catoe, Mary Helen Phillips, and Dora Ann Kullbom.

Mr. McManus was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Doris Hinson.

Mr. Douglas Marcellus Wilson

Mr. Douglas Marcellus Wilson, age 79, of 6603 Griffin Road, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at his home. He was born November 18, 1928 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Robert Marcellus Wilson and Beulah Lee Griffin Wilson was the husband of Peggy Roddey Wilson. Mr. Wilson graduated from Indian Land High School and retired from Springs Industries – Grace Bleachery. He was a member of Belair United Methodist Church, previously served as Scout Master, and served our great country in the United States Army in the Korean War.

Mr. Wilson was survived by his wife, Peggy Roddey Wilson of the home, 2 sons, Tim Wilson and his wife Angie of Lancaster and Randy Wilson and his wife Lisa of McDonough, Ga., 2 daughters, Phyllis Patton and her husband Robert of Lancaster and Kathy Wilson and her fiancé Dale Jordan of Lancaster, 3 brothers, Robert Daniel Wilson, Olin S. Wilson, and Luther A. Wilson all of Lancaster, 3 sisters, Nancy Lee Tillman of Lancaster, Helen Davis of Fort Mill, and Elizabeth Brown of Monroe, NC, 5 grandchildren, Robb Patton and his wife Mitzi of Lincolnton, NC, Jared K. Wilson and fiance’ Stephanie Creech, Matt T. Wilson of Lancaster, and Alyssa Riley Wilson of McDonough, GA, and 1 great granddaughter, Kristin Patton of Lincolnton, NC.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a grandson, Steve Patton and a brother, Jesse L. Wilson.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Wilson will be 3:00 pm, Thursday afternoon, February 20, 2008 at Belair United Methodist Church by Rev. Tony Adams. Burial will be private.
