COLUMBIA — A memorial service for Gary Paul Hughes, 57, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Funeral Home. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements. Born in Columbia to Henry Sr. and Charlean Hixon, he died September 20, 2005. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are his brothers, Henry Jr., Mark Steven and Chuck Hughes; an uncle, George Lucas.

Annie Moss Campbell

ABBEVILLE — Services for Annie Moss Campbell, 91, are 2 p.m. Sunday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home with burial in Bells United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 p.m. today at 617 Church St. Born in Abbeville Co. to Thomas Hoyt and Bessie Barnett Campbell, she died Sept. 29, 2005. Surviving: sisters, Louise Bowen, Edith McElrath; six nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

MODOC — Services with burial for Susie “Sue” Doolittle Faulkner, 84, Federal Pacific Electric Co. retiree, widow of Richard Faulkner, 3 p.m. Thursday: Red Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member. Visitation 6-8 tonight: Edgefield Mercantile F.H. Born in Edgefield Co., she died Oct. 11, 2005. Surviving: children, Jessie Lewis, Thelma Miller, George Faulkner; 9 grandchild, 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

PROSPERITY — Services with burial for Sylvester A. “Bubba” Jones will be 3 p.m. today at Mt. Moriah AME Church. F.B. Pratt & Son Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Lexington to Sylvester and Estell Anderson Jones, he died Oct. 8, 2005. He retired from International Paper in Newberry. Surviving: wife, Deloris Jones; sons, Robert Wadsworth, Jesse, Tampa Boyd; sister, Eva Mae Cook; 4 grandchildren; others.

Janice Long Rush

WILLISTON — Janice Long Rush, 63, died Monday, October 10, 2005, at her home.

Born in Barnwell County, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Alethea Collins Long. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mole Funeral Home.

Survivors include daughters, Karen W. Williams and Carol Williams of Williston, SC; brother, Rev. Gene Long of Barnwell, SC. She was predeceased by a son, Jonathan Wayne Wheeler and brothers, James E., Tommy and Joe Long.

James E. “Bubba” Broome Sr.

BELVEDERE — Memorial Services for Mr. James E. “Bubba” Broome, Sr., 82, of Audubon Circle, Belvedere, SC, who died October 9, 2005, will be conducted this Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock from Belvedere United Methodist Church. Rev. David Lee and Rev. David T. Templeton officiating. Private interment in Sunset Memory Gardens with Military Honors.

Mr. Broome was a native of Augusta, having made Belvedere his home for the past 50 years. He was member of Belvedere United Methodist Church where he was active in the Men’s Club, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, retired from E.I. DuPont Company and a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. Mr. Broome was the husband of the late Mrs. Jackie Broome.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Broome, Charleston, SC, Jack Broome, Medford, Oregon, and Brad Broome, North Augusta; a daughter, Elizabeth Campbell, North Augusta; a sister, Dot B. Rogers, North Augusta; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Belvedere United Methodist Church Men’s Club, 202 Rhomboid Place, Belvedere, SC, 29841.

ORANGEBURG — Julian P. Weeks Sr., 78, of 391 Dunwoody Street, Orangeburg, SC 29115, died Tuesday morning Oct. 11, 2005, in Hallmark Health Care in Summerville. Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., in Orangeburg is in charge. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.

Survivors: wife, Mrs. Virginia Sidler Weeks of Orangeburg; son, Perry (Martha Ann) Weeks of Cameron; grandson, Bill (Rachel) Weeks of Swansea; granddaughter, Lauren Weeks of Cameron; daughter, Ms. Alice Weeks Huff of Bowman; granddaughter, Sandy (Lynn) Hooker of Orangeburg; great-grandchild, Samantha Lynn; granddaughter, Donna Faye Huff of San Antonio, Texas ; granddaughter, Lisa (Todd) Sloan of Pataskala, Ohio; great-grandson, Nicholas Matthew; grandson, William Russell Weeks of Orangeburg; granddaughter, Amy (Dwayne) Metts of Cordova; great-granddaughters, Katlyn and Hannah; stepson, William Wilkins of Ft. Mary Jane Walker

CAYCE — Services for Mrs. Mary Jane Walker, 89, of 1528 Benedict St., Cayce, will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Brookland Baptist Church with burial to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Walker died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005. Born in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of the late Pinky Cheatham and the late Tye Richardson. Surviving are daughters, Josephine (Rev. Leon) Blackmon and Rebecca Johnson; sons, Willie (Pearl) Walker, John (Anzello) Walker and Wilson Walker; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Walker; 48 grandchildren; 140 great-grandchildren; 52 great-great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. today at Jones Metropolitan Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Marian D. Aughtry
GREENVILLE — Marian DeCoursey Aughtry, of 109 Wren Way, Swansgate, widow of Paul Clarence Aughtry, Jr., died Thursday, June 8, 2006.

Mrs. Aughtry was active in all phases of Christ Episcopal Church, having served several years as a Christian Education leader and for many years on the Altar flower arrangement committee. She restored, and for several years maintained, two memorial gardens at the church.

Surviving are three sons, Paul C. “Bo” Aughtry and his wife, Judith, David D. Aughtry and his wife, Beth, and Bruce B. Aughtry and his wife, Jennie, all of Greenville; a brother, Charles F. DeCoursey and his wife, Della, of Powdersville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert S. Dannals and the Rev. Ted W. Duvall. Burial will be in the churchyard.

Family requests that neither flowers nor memorials be made.

The family is at the home of a son, Paul C. “Bo” Aughtry, III, 412 Crescent Avenue, Greenville.

Louise Chavis Hutto
NEESES — Louise Chavis Hutto, 78, of Neeses, died Monday, June 5, 2006.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Henry Chavis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Reason, Floyd Chavis, Gerald Hutto, Kenny Hutto, Jimmie Leach and Jimmy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies Bible Class of Mt. Beulah.

Mrs. Hutto was born in Neeses, a daughter of the late Aaron and Maggie Hutto Chavis. She was a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Ministries and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was married to the late Rembert James “Fiddie” Hutto. She was formerly employed by S.C. Cotton Mills.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Delby and Don Nettles of Neeses, and Magdaline “Maggie” Hutto of Neeses; and a granddaughter, Ashley Nettles-Bradshaw and her husband, Mark, of Neeses.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North and other times at the home of Mrs. Delby Nettles, 135 Fiddie Lane, Neeses.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Women’s Ministries.

Rosemary Oxner
NEWBERRY — Rosemary Folk Oxner, 74, of Newberry, widow of Rudolph Oxner, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, in Lexington Medical Center.

She was born May 18, 1932, in Newberry, a daughter of the late James H. and Ruth M. Folk. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

She was first married to the late Virgil C. Bouknight and they had three wonderful sons and daughters-in-law. She is survived by Bobby and Linda D. Bouknight of Pomaria, David and Barbara W. Bouknight of Chester and John and Toni M. Bouknight of Prosperity. Rosemary was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Tonya S. Crapps of Jacksonville, FL, and her two children; three sisters, Sue Folk of Columbia, Lou Folk of Biloxi, MS, and Ester Taylor of Batesburg-Leesville; and a brother, Sonny Folk of Woodruff.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Interment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, P.O. Box 382, Newberry SC 29108.

Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry is assisting the family.

Syderist Minick
MURRELLS INLET — Syderist Richardson Minick, age 81, of Painted Fern Court, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, in Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born August 8, 1924, in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Rogers and Lula Melton Richardson. She graduated from Columbia High School and attended Business School at the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Minick worked as a tax practitioner and bookkeeper for over 60 years in her hometowns of Batesburg, Greenwood, Columbia, Aiken and Murrells Inlet, SC. She was an avid bridge player and she and her husband square danced for over 30 years. Mrs. Minick was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in her Agape Sunday School Class and the Deborah Church Circle. Surviving are her husband, Billy M. Minick of Murrells Inlet; son, Gerald Rogers Minick and wife, Robin, of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Mary Gene Minick Singleton and husband, Joey, of Myrtle Beach; brother, Wilbur Melton “Sonny” Richardson and wife, Marilyn, of Taylors, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Minick Conrick of Lexington, SC, Emily and Rachel Minick of Anchorage, AK, Jean Singleton Hood of Charleston, SC, Anne Singleton of Charlotte, NC, Benjamin Singleton of Myrtle Beach; four nieces; one nephew; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday from First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, with Rev. Bobby Wilkes officiating. Burial will be private. Directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, Building Fund, PO Box 1306, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.

Juanita Adams Lake
LEXINGTON — Funeral service for Juanita Adams Lake, 84, will be held 4 o’clock Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. H. Brett Collins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lake, widow of Curtis L. Lake, Sr., died June 8, 2006. Born May 20, 1922, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Willie E. and Lillie McCollum Adams. Mrs. Lake was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in White Rock and requests memorials be made to her church, 2081 Dutch Fork Road, White Rock, SC 29177.

Survivors include her sons, D. Michael Lake and wife, Teresa, of Ridgeway, and Curtis L. Lake, Jr. and wife, June, of Cayce; daughters, Debbie Willis of Gaston and Ginger Brandt and husband, Ron, of Columbia; sisters, Jeannette Sox and Mildred Bundrick, both of West Columbia; grandchildren, Allen Simpson, Chris Lake and wife, Alison, Laurel Jeffcoat and husband, Willie, Amanda Koon, Julene Lake, Denise Pound and husband, Ricky, and six precious great-grandchildren.

Annie McCray
COLUMBIA — Mrs. Annie Laura Childes McCray, 78, wife of the late Rev. Dr. J.T. McCray Sr., died Monday in Columbia.

Mrs. McCray was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Jane Weaver Childes of Columbia, S.C. She was educated in the Richland Public Schools. She was a member of Mt. Mariah M.B. Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Grace McCray (Rev. Odell) Wiggins of Columbia, SC; one son, James T. (Rhonda) McCray Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Brian T. McCray, Camille R. McCray and James Odell Wiggins; one sister, Mary (Caleb) Butler; two brothers, Frank Childs Jr. and Willie (Betty) Childes.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church - Bucksport Road in the Bucksport Community. Burial will follow in Bucksport Cemetery. McKiever Funeral Home, Inc., of Conway, S.C., is in charge of the service.

James Leslie “Les” Kaminer
NORTH — James Leslie “Les” Kaminer, 54, of North, died Thursday, June 8, 2006.

Graveside funeral services with full military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2006, in Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dean Reynolds officiating.

Mr. Kaminer was born in Columbia. He was a Methodist. He retired from the South Carolina National Guard after 26 years of service. He was also formerly employed by International Paper Company and American Security.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia W. Kaminer of the home; a daughter, Tammy Kaminer Bedwell, and her husband, Robbie, of Swansea; his father, Hodges Ariail Kaminer of North; a brother, Dale Kaminer and his wife, Betty, of St. George; four grandchildren: Jesse Moore, Morgan Bedwell, Chris Bedwell and Ashley Bedwell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North.
