CLOVER — Services for Hailey Marie Skeens, 21 months, 11 am Thursday at Bratton Funeral Home, York (10 a.m. visitation); burial in Lakeview Memory Gardens, York. Born in Gastonia, NC to Jason and Wendi Lucas Skeens, she died June 21, 2004. Surviving: parents; siblings, Amber, Jacob; grandparents, Eddie and Brenda Merritt Lane, John Lucas, Bob and Kathy Hall Skeens; great-grandfather, Bryant Merritt.

Margaret Stack

NEW HOLLAND — Miss Margaret Ferris Stack, 90, entered into rest Monday, June 21st, 2004.

Miss Stack was born in Aiken County and was the daughter of the late Leone Evelyn Clayton Stack and Fletcher R. Stack, Sr. She was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Hicks, and five brothers, Fletcher Stack, Jr., William Stack, Brunson Stack, Milton Stack and Rev. George Stack.

Miss Stack is survived by a sister, Mrs. Geneva Hall of North Augusta, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the New Holland Baptist Church and was a beloved sister and aunt. Miss Stack was a libriarian with the Aiken County Bookmobile. She was the last surviving member of the last graduating class of the Edisto Academy in Seivern.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24th in the New Holland Baptist Church with the Rev. Owen McAlister, and Rev. Samuel Stack officiating. Miss Stack will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service for viewing. Burial will follow at New Holland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New Holland Baptist Church, 2279 New Holland Road, Wagener, SC 29164. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23rd in Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 South Main St., Wagener (803) 564-5333.

Raye Richardson

SALLEY — Mrs. Raye Bailey Richardson, 76, entered into rest Tuesday, June 22nd, 2004.

Mrs. Richardson was born in Aiken County. She was the daughter of the late George and Ruby Brown Bailey. She was the widow of the late Billy Richardson and also preceded in death by brothers Nelson Bailey and Albert Bailey. Miss Richardson was a member of the Mount Hermon Baptist Church and retired after 45 years of sewing at the Wagener Manufacturing Plant.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Harvey and Murel Bailey of Salley, and Bill and Carlene Bailey of Pelion, sister Jeanette Stone of Gaston, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24th at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Griffith officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews. Burial will be in the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23rd also in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 South Main St., Wagener (803) 564-5333 and other times at the home of the brother, Mr. Harvey Bailey.

Aletha Blackwell

GREENWOOD — Services for Aletha Burr Blackwell, 88, widow of E.C. Blackwell, will be 2 p.m. today (visitation 1-2 p.m.) at Connie Maxwell Baptist Church; entombment in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum. Blyth Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Chesterfield to N.D. and Beatrice Parker Burr, she died June 20, 2004. Surviving: children, Sally “Millie” Southerland, Clarence Blackwell; 3 grandchildren; sister; brother.

Carrie Mumford

DARLINGTON — Services for Carrie “Bea” Mumford, widow of Robert Mumford Sr., 2 p.m. Thursday at Glorious Apostolic Holiness Church. Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Darlington Co. to Sam Sims and Marie Joe, she died June 21, 2004. Surviving: children, Ruby, Mary Tyson, Elizabeth Phillips, Carrie Washington , Evelyn, Eloise, Robert Jr., Heyward, Larry and David Mumford; others.

Jeffery Ward

CHESTER — Services for Jeffery Scott Ward, 36, will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Church of the Nazarene with burial in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Barron Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Chester Co. to Wallace and Alice McCollum Ward, he died June 21, 2004. Surviving: wife, Renee Odom Ward; mother; son, Joshua Ward; brother, Robert Guyton; sister, Emily and Tracey Ward.

Joseph Wright Sr.

CONWAY — A graveside service for Joseph Thomas Wright Sr., 60, is 11 a.m. Thursday in Laurelwood Cemetery; visitation is 7-8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown, Rock Hill. Born in York Co. to Baxter Sr. and Ellie Mae McManus Wright, he died June 21, 2004. Surviving: children, Joseph Wright Jr., Mary Mullinax, Scarlett Horton, Nan Marie Costner, Ronda Ramsey; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; 8 grandchildren.

Rebecca Knobeloch

FLORENCE — Rebecca Willis Hackett Knobeloch, 86, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 in a Florence hospital after an illness.

She was born in Florence Co., SC a daughter of the late Milby Harris and Estelle Stanley Willis.

Surviving are a son, Stanley Hailey (Elaine) Hackett of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Rebecca Hackett (Larry) Mills of Columbia, SC; 2 step-daughters, Lynn Knobeloch Brown of Florence and Hazel Knobeloch (Dickie) Matheny of Edisto Beach, step-son, John Baynard (Emily) Knobeloch of Orangeburg, SC; sisters, Marian Willis Collier of Wilmington, NC and Jean Wilis Wheless of Greenville, NC; 4 granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Hackett of Atlanta, Rebecca Aiken Hackett of Washington , DC, Susannah Rebecca Mills of Los Angeles, Caroline Walker Estelle Mills of New York City; 3 step-granddaughters, Julia Ellis Brown of Florence, Kimberly Knobeloch (Troy) Byrd of Columbia, SC, Caroline Elizabeth Matheny of Edisto Beach; 2 step-grandsons, John Fulton (Laura) Knobeloch of Mt. Pleasant and Reginald Alan (Carmen) Brown of Florence; 4 step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harley Benjamin Hackett, Jr.; son, Capt. Harley Benjamin Hackett, III (M.I.A.) South East Asia, and her second husband, John Hazel Knobeloch and two brothers, Elbert Stanley Willis, Sr. and Harris Edens Willis.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday June 24, 2004 at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the St. John’s Episcopal Church Youth Scholarship Fund, 252 S. Dargan St., Florence of the Capt. Harley B. Hackett, III (M.I.A.) Scholarship Fund at Francis Marion University, (Attn: Community Relations), PO BOX 100547 Florence, SC 29506, or the charity of one’s choice.

The family will be at the her residence, 500 Iris Dr., Florence, SC.

Jeff Singleton

DILLON — Services for Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Singleton, 54, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Dillon Second Baptist Church; burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Cooper Funeral Home. Born in Dillon Co. to Walker and Frances Herring Singleton, he died June 20, 2004. Surviving: wife, Penny Bethea Singleton; children, Kevin Singleton, Kelly Watkins; 1 brother; 2 sisters; nieces; nephews.

Mildred Bray

FLORENCE — Services for Mildred Elizabeth Bray, 80, widow of Charles Lee; 3 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church; burial: Hicks Hill Cemetery; visitation: 7-9 tonight at Floyd Funeral Home, Olanta. Born in Florence to Sam and Annie Wilkes, she died June 21, 2004. Surviving: husband, William Bray; children, Helen Bullard, Ronnie, Bobby, Wayne, Charles Lee; stepchildren; 3 siblings; grandchildren.

Elma Brigman

LATTA — Mrs. Elma Able Brigman, 83, widow of John Allen Brigman, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at HealthSouth in Florence after an illness.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 23 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins, with Rev. Carroll Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Latta, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brigman was born August 12, 1920 in Mullins, a daughter of the late George Earnest Able and the late Lucy Mae Williams Able. Mrs. Brigman retired after over 40 years of dedicated service with Dilmar Oil Company. She was a member of Latta United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brigman is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Ernestine Able Sellers and Frances Marie Able Camp.

Memorials may be made to the Latta Rescue Squad, Latta, S.C.

Lucille Brown

LANCASTER — Services for Lucille Robinson Brown, 79, widow of Willard Brown, 2 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Baptist Church; burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home. Born to Willie and Mayo Robinson, she died June 22, 2004. Surviving: children, Peggy Rollins, Danny, Mitchell, Timothy Brown; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen Ewing

SUMTER — A memorial service for Helen Grace Lyall Ewing, 73, will be 3 p.m. July 6, 2004, at Delong-Baker-Lanning Funeral Home, Zanesville, Ohio. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Crooksville, Ohio, to William and Pearl Lyall, she died June 22, 2004. Surviving: children, Ken, Dan, Daryl, Wayne, Cayle, Becky and Donna; 2 brothers; 1 sister; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Tiffany DeWitt

ORANGEBURG — Tiffany Charlene DeWitt, 21, of 261 Warley Road S.W., Orangeburg, SC, died Sunday night June 20, 2004 in Orangeburg. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 24, 2004 at First Church of the Nazarene, 450 Woodbine, Orangeburg, with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. James “Jimmy” Smoak officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg is in charge. Active pallbearers will be Marty Troutman, Anthony McDonald, Jerry Oliver, William (Whop) Shuler, J.R. Shuler, Jarod (Spanky) Shuler, Scotty Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cardiology Department at The Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 10, 1982, in Orangeburg, SC. She was the daughter of Charles Leland DeWitt and Linda Oliver DeWitt. She was a 2000 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. She was a 2003 graduate of O-C Tech. She was employed with The Regional Medical Center in the Cardiology Department. She was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Ruby Durst Oliver and paternal grandfather, Kisler W. DeWitt.

Survivors include her mother, Linda Oliver DeWitt and her father, Charles Leland DeWitt both of the home; 1 brother, Charles Randy (Charlie) DeWitt of the home; maternal grandfather, Robert D. Oliver of the home; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou (Nannie) DeWitt of Orangeburg; and a number of aunts and uncles; a godsister, Cheryl Sweat; and a number of cousins.

Friends may call at the residence of her parents, Linda and Charles DeWitt, 261 Warley Road, Orangeburg, SC and at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Gilbert Hodne

FORT MILL — Services for Gilbert Hodne, 67, will be 2 p.m. Thursday (visitation 1-2 p.m.) at Glenrock Baptist Church, with military honors. Fort Mill Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Long Island, N.Y., to Anders and Elna Hodne, he died June 21, 2004. Surviving: wife, Janet Lee Hodne; daughters, Debra Santamaria, Dawn Jacob; brother, Stanley Hodne; sister, Enid Ironside; four grandchildren.

Reed Hill

WOODRUFF — Reed T. Hill, 94, of 360 Workman Ave., died 6-21-2004 in a Spartanburg Hospital.

He was a native of Gilmer County, GA., who moved here in 1951 after purchasing a 5&10 cents store. About four years later, he began a career as a traveling sales representative and he retired about 20 years ago.

Mr. Hill was a member of The First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and choir member.

Survivors include a son, retired newspaper editor Mac Hill of Newberry, a daughter Eileen H. Ward of the home, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 PM today at Forest Hills Funeral Home, SC Hwy. 101. The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Thursday in his church. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Over And Above fund at his church 801 Cross Anchor Rd. Woodruff, SC 29388 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302.

Forest Hills Funeral Home of Woodruff, SC is in charge of all arrangements.

ROCK HILL — A graveside service for Archie Olin Roberts, 69, is 1 p.m. today in Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, is in charge. Born in Rock Hill to David and Mae Walters Roberts, he died June 21, 2004. Surviving: wife, Jean P. Roberts; children, Michael, David and William Roberts, James Faust, Karen Clemmer, Lisa Roberts-Elliott; 1 brother; 2 sisters; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
