GEORGETOWN — Services for Vickie Page, 56, homemaker, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wayne United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with burial in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Graham Funeral Home. Born in Gaston Co., N.C., to Ray Sr. and Ethel Moses Oates, she died August 4, 2004. Surviving is her husband, Wayne Page.

Stuart Smith

FORT MILL — Stuart Harrington Smith II, 68, died August 6, 2004. Fort Mill Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Monroe, N.C., to Stuart and Mary Douglas Smith, he attended Admiral Farragut Academy in Florida, graduated from Wingate College and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are sons, Stuart Smith III, Stacy Smith; two grandchildren.

LAURENS — Services for Joseph Myles Brown, 64, Army veteran, 2 p.m. Sunday (visitation 7-9 tonight) at Kennedy Mortuary; burial: Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Laurens to Arthur and Maggie Brown, he died Aug. 5, 2004. Geraldine Belvin

CAMDEN — Memorial services for Geraldine Belvin, 64, will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at 3:00 PM in Beulah United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel is in charge.

Elmer Hughes

ROCK HILL — Services for Elmer Hughes, 79, U.S. Army (Ret.), will be 5 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest; visitation following; burial: 2 p.m. Sunday in Forest Hills Cemetery with full military honors. Born in Poplar, N.C., to Roe and Bertha Tipton Hughes, he died August 5, 2004. Surviving: wife, Lena Peterson Hughes; daughter, Jackie Connolly; two brothers; four sisters; one grandchild.

Walter Holmes

BATESBURG — Memorial services for Walter Joseph Holmes, 76, will be private. M. Holmes died August 6, 2004. South Carolina Cremation & Memorial Society is in charge. Surviving are daughters, Margaret Holmes, Cindy LeBrun; sons, Paul Holmes, Joe Holmes; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Linda Humphries

SUMTER — Services for Linda Marie Cook Humphries, 54, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bullock Funeral Home; burial: Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Bullock Funeral Home. Born in Sumter to Joseph Cook and Marie Johnson Cook Hicks, she died Aug. 5, 2004. Surviving: mother; daughter, Becki Humphries; sister, Gail Turner; stepsiblings, Robert Hicks, Janice Deaton, Gladys McLeod.

Nathan Marr

HAMPTON — Mr. Nathan Roy Marr of 213 Sharon Avenue in Hampton died Thursday afternoon at Roper Hospital in Charleston after an extended illness.

Born Nov. 19, 1925 in Ridge Springs, NC, he was the son of the late Jesse O’Neal Marr and Ruth Blackburn Marr. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, had retired as a Security Patrolman at the Savannah River Site near Barnwell, and was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, but attended the West End Baptist Church. He was the widower of Lillian Brown Marr.

He is survived by 2 sons: Roy Rustin Marr of Ruffin, SC and Ray O’Neal Marr of Ulmer, SC; 1 daughter: Virginia Ruth Marr of Walterboro; 1 half brother: Raymond Marr of Chapin, SC. There are 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 4 PM at the Hampton Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton.

Friends may call at the chapel on Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM and prior to services on Saturday.

John McNeely

WINNSBORO — Funeral services for John Thomas McNeely will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the graveside in Bethel A.R.P. Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Gregory Slater and Dr. Clyde T. McCants. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Pope Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Mr. McNeely, 70, died Thursday, August 5, 2004.

He was born in Mooresville, NC, October 4, 1933, son of the late Thomas Rex and Bessie Sigman McNeely.

He retired as Deputy Commissioner for Health Regulation from SC Department of Health and Environmental Control in 1996 after 26 years of service. Prior to DHEC, he was the administrator of Fairfield Memorial Hospital after having been employed by McMaster’s Drug Store in Winnsboro, SC.

He graduated from Presbyterian College in 1956, was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and Bethel A.R.P. Church where he had served as a Deacon. Following college he served six months in the Quartermaster Corps, Fort Lee, VA and afterwards in the U.S. Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Captain.

Surviving: his wife of forty-six years (10/12/1957) Margaret McMaster McNeely of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Lenore and Joe Hathcock of Mooresville, NC; oldest daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Brink Hinson of Irmo and their sons, Connor and Benjamin; daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Buddy Lyons of Germantown, TN and their children, Zachary, Luke, Ellie and Kate; son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Cindy Love McNeely of Elizabethton, TN and their daughters Abby and Carolina; sister-in-law Harriet McMaster and her husband Craig Davis of Columbia; niece, Julie H. Buffkin; nephew, Jerry Hathcock.

Ruth Oliver

ELLOREE — Ruth Troutman Johnson Oliver, age 89, of 822 Pickett Level Road, Elloree, S.C., died 8-5-04 Thurs. in the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, S.C. after a brief illness. ***Casket will be placed in church at 1:00 P.M. Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, 8-8-04 at Jericho United Methodist Church. Ministers: Pastor Gene Ball, assisted by Rev. Henry Hungerpiller. Burial place: Jericho United Methodist Church Cemetery. Funeral Home: Fogle Hungerpiller Funeral Home in Elloree. Active pallbearers: Jackie Ball, Thomas Earl Troutman, Melvin Ball, Eleby Troutman, Ralph Troutman & Bennie Wayne Cook. Visitation will be Sat. 8-7-04 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Born in Calhoun County on 10 1-1914, a daughter of the late William David Troutman and the late Alice Texas Felkel Troutman. She was a member Jericho United Methodist Church; retired from Southern Bell after 41 years of service as an operator, engineering clerk & commercial representative. She served as a docent at the Elloree Heritage Museum.

Predeceased in death by a son, David Earl Johnson; her husbands, Earl Hardy Johnson and George & George McKinley Oliver. Surviving are 4 grandchildren: Johathan David Earl Johnson, Miami, Fla., Thalia Evelyn Johnson, Thelonious Stephane Johnson & Theodora Yannaode Johnson, all of New York; Several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Dr. Andrew Rimar

LANCASTER — A memorial service for Andrew H. Rimar, D.V.M., 57, is 3 p.m. Sunday (visitation 2-2:45 p.m.) at Mahaffey Funeral Home. Born in Greenbelt, Md., to Joseph and Elinor Souder Rimar, he died Aug. 4, 2004. He was co-owner/operator of Lancaster Animal Hospital and Indian Land Animal Hospital. Surviving: wife, Dr. Carol Dietz-Rimar; son, Philbrook Rimar; parents; brother, Joseph Rimar.

Richard Creech

BLACKVILLE — Richard Mark Creech, 44, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at his residence in Blackville, SC.

Born in Barnwell, SC, he was the son of the late James Lonnie Creech Sr. and Jeanette Waltz Creech. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blackville.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 4:00 PM in Mole Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mole Funeral Home.

Survivors include: Daughter - Carlee Ashton Creech of Blackville, Brother - James (Jim) Creech Jr. of Blackville.

HOPKINS — Funeral service for Candis Noxanne Goodwin Ashford of 1220 Congaree Road will be held Sunday August 8, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Zion Millcreek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, August 7, 2004, 3-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ashford died Thursday, August 5, 2004. Born in Richland County, she was the daughter of Patricia A. Goodwin and the late Jesse D. Goodwin. She was a member of Zion Millcreek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy W. Ashford; sons, Brian Ashford, Dior Ashford, Jarrott Ashford; daughter, Christian Ashford; mother of Hopkins, SC; brothers, Vernon B. (Denise) Goodwin, Suitland, MO, Kenneth (Victoria) Goodwin, West Columbia, SC; sisters, Avohn S. (Shelton) Floyd, Jacksonville, Fl., Aenion R. (Johnny) Howard, Deirdre Y. Goodwin, Marion D. Goodwin, Jessica D. McKenzie all of Hopkins, South Carolina; father and mother-in-law, Tommy (Mattie) Ashford; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joyce (Jerry) Rawlinson, Kathy (Arnold) Ashford, Kenny Ashford all of Columbia, S.C.

Annie Wright

ORANGEBURG — Services with burial for Apostle Annie Ruth Harmon Wright, 63, will be held at 2 p.m. (viewing 1 p.m.) Sunday at Providence AME Church, St. Matthews. Viewing is 1-8 p.m. today at Glover’s Funeral Home. Born in St. Matthews to Marion and Anna Harmon, she died Aug. 4, 2004. Surviving are husband, Charles Wright; mother; two sisters; four nieces; two nephews; eight stepchildren; others.

Mary Roach

CHAPIN — Service for Mary Lee Monts Roach, 85, will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Arsenal Hill ARP Church, Columbia, with burial in Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or to a charity of one’s choice. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, is in charge.

Mrs. Roach died Thursday, August 5, 2004. Born in Blythewood, she was a daughter of the late James Epting and Vidda Eargle Monts. A graduate of Columbia High School, she was formerly employed with the Standard Oil Company in Columbia. She was a member of Earlewood Park Garden Club and Mothers Club and active in Project Love at Chapin Elementary School. She loved gardening and baking, especially chocolate birthday cakes for her family.

Mrs. Roach was an active member of Arsenal Hill ARP Church and several circle groups for which she served as an officer.

A beloved wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Thomas Bradshaw “T.B.” Roach; daughters, Harriette R. Bost of Chapin and Janice R. Woody (Ron) of Charlotte, N.C.; half-brother, Ernest Monts (Joy) of Columbia; half-sister, Jeanette Smith of Blythewood; grandchildren, Ainslee Graham (Jeff), Kevin Bost (fiancee, Jennifer), David and Jonathan Woody; great-grandchildren, Schaffer and Connor Graham; and nieces, Sandra Price (Bill) and Linda Fisher. She was predeceased by sister, Marguerite Koon, brother, Manning Monts and son-in-law, Adrian Bost.
