Surviving are wife, Brenda Burden Gilliland; siblings, Jolene Yelter, Leslie Black.

Born in Newberry Co. to Norris and Chlorine Burton, he died Aug. 14, 2004. Surviving: mother; children, Sharon Harmon, Thomas Worthy; sisters, Betty, Thomasena Suber, Polly Harmon; grandchild; 2 aunts; children’s mother, Mary Worthy; more.

Ruby Truesdale

LANCASTER — A Celebration of Life Service for Ruby Dinkins Truesdale, 80, widow of James Truesdale, will be 11 a.m. Thursday (visitation 6-8 tonight) at Hartley Funeral Home with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. Born in Lancaster Co. to John and Arlie Sims Dinkins, she died Aug. 16, 2004. Surviving are children, Steve Truesdale, Helen Collins, Rita Parker; sister, Nellie Coates; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

William Farmer Jr.

LEXINGTON — Funeral services for William J. “Jepp” Farmer, Jr., 62, of 156 Crestwood Arch, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Jumper officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at the funeral home.

Mr. Farmer passed on Sunday, August 15, 2004. Born in Chipley, Florida, he was the son of Ruby Watford Farmer and the late William J. “Bill” Farmer, Sr. of Lexington. He was a graduate of Columbia High School and a current member of South Lexington Baptist Church. He was employed for the last twenty years by Superior Carriers, Inc., formerly known as Central Transport.

He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Irene M. Farmer of Lexington; daughters, Wendi H. Crout of Gaston and Traci C. Smith of Pelion; grandson, Bud Crout of Gaston; granddaughter, Katelyn Smith of Pelion; mother, Ruby Farmer of Lexington; sisters, Betty Jane Bush of Lexington and Peggy Benton of Columbia; brother, Charles R. Farmer; other relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by all.

Andrae Fuller

EUTAWVILLE — Services for Andrae Fuller, 24, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Springhill Baptist Church; burial: Belverdere Cemetery. Eutawville Community Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Eutawville to Charles and Annie Fuller, he died August 13, 2004. Surviving: parents; son, Andrae Fuller; brothers, Charles, Alex Fuller; sisters, Angel Fuller, Elander Gadson, Crelita Brown, Paisley Bettis; other relatives.

Ansel Bailey

WHITMIRE — Services for Ansel G. Bailey, 94, are 11 a.m. Thursday at Whitmire United Methodist Church; burial: Whitmire Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Gray Funeral Home. Born in Gaffney to Pinkney and Lena Byars Bailey, he died August 16, 2004. He had retired from J.P. Stevens Co. Surviving: wife, Agnes C. Bailey; many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Whitmire UM Church.

Eva Gandy

KERSHAW — Services for Eva Nell Hunter Gandy, 84, retired from Springs Ind., 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home (visitation 7-9 tonight); burial in Sand Hill Baptist Church (where she was a member) Cemetery. Born in Kershaw to James and Pearlie Knight Hunter, she died Aug. 7, 2004. Surviving: husband, J. Coleman Gandy; siblings, Lloyd Hunter, Eloise Rabon, Joline Wooten; pet, Ginny.

George Bundrick

LITTLE MOUNTAIN — Services and burial for George R. “Static” Bundrick, 85, WWII vet, 3 p.m. today: Bethel Baptist Church. Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, is in charge. Born in Lexington to Bunyan and Maude Bundrick, he died Aug. 16, 2004. Surviving: wife, Hula Rowe Bundrick; children, Linda Richardson, Brenda Griffin, Sonny, Bunyan Bundrick; sisters, Catherine Frick, Rosabelle Chapman.

James Faison Jr.

BENNETTSVILLE — Services for Mr. James Kerr “Jocko” Faison, Jr., 76, will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday in Parnassus United Methodist Church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Marlboro County, PO Box 474, Bennettsville, SC 29512. Whitner-Evans Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Faison died Monday. Born in Marlboro County, he was a son of the late James Kerr and Sue Anna Usher Faison. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a retired bookkeeper with Mohawk Industries. He was Methodist and was married to the late Sarah Donaldson “Sally” Faison.

Surviving are: a son, James K. “Buddy” Faison, of Clio, a daughter, Anna Faison Inabinet, of Columbia, and grandchildren, Kathryn Inabinet, Benjamin Inabinet, Alexander Inabinet and Kerr Faison.

James Gainey

HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for James Gainey, age 74, were held Tuesday at 4:00 from the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Born in Chesterfield Co. son of the late Lawrence & Carrie Lewis Gainey. Surviving are sons:Bobby & Kenny Gainey; siblings: Hollis, June, L.A. Gainey, Maggie Gainey, Dorothy Mae Gerald, Ellen Weatherford.

Mary Goodwin

COLUMBIA — Services for Mary Sims Goodwin, better known as “Sister,” will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery. Visitation, Wednesday 4-9 p.m. at JP Holley Funeral Home Garners Ferry Road Chapel. Born in Richland Co. to the late Beverly and Mary Sims, she died August 14, 2004. Surviving are husband, Walter Goodwin; son, Willie B. (Deffie) Goodwin; daughters, Sarah Goodwin, Queenie (Thomas) Entzminger, Mary Jane (James) Scott, Junnie Mae Goodwin and Barbara (Ulysses) Scott; brother, Harry (Jois) Sims, all of Gadsden, South Carolina.

Gaston Gee

DENMARK — Gaston Gee of Denmark, SC died Sunday August 15 at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. He was born Oct. 12, 1923 in Spartanburg County, SC. He was the son of the late Dr. Wilson and Mary Gaston Gee of Charlottesville, VA. He graduated from Clemson University in 1946, after serving with Gen. Patton’s 4th Armored Division during World War II.

He was a retired dairy farmer and an active leader in the Episcopal Diocese of S.C., the Bamberg County Farm Bureau and the Denmark Community. He served as a member of the S.C. Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was on the Executive Committee of the Dairy Division for 15 Years. He also was Vice Chairman of the Division of the S.C. Dairy Commission for many years. He faithfully served Christ Episcopal Church of Denmark for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Warrington Edwards Gee, aunt, Mrs. H. Briggs Salley of Orangeburg, SC, four children, Elizabeth Gee of Indonesia, Carolyn G. Foster (Bobby) of Columbia, Charles W. Gee (Kathy) of West Columbia, and William G. Gee (Shari) of Denmark, grandchildren Elizabeth Foster of Atlanta, Barbara F. Watkins (Jason) of Anderson, Jeffery and Christopher Gee of West Columbia, and Will and Adam Gee of Denmark. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Lee Wayland Gee, son Norman Gee and sister Mary Wilson Gee Tuthill.

Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Dennmark Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 2 P.M., with Interment in Bamberg Memory Gardens.

After the interment, there will be a celebration of Gaston’s life at 125 Byrnes St., Denmark.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church P.O. Box 237 Denmark, SC 29042.

Charles Koschel

MARION — Mr. Charles William Koschel, 88, husband of Louise Cribb Koschel, died Monday, August 16, 2004 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 18 at the Chapel of Smith-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Gardens in Newport News, Va.

Mr. Koschel was born June 10, 1916 in Hampton, Va., a son of the late Richard and Loudevine Krause Koschel. He retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, after 32 years of service. Mr. Koschel was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Richard Perry Sunday School Class.

Surviving Mr. Koschel in addition to his Wife of the home are: a Sister: Eleanor Swindell of Hampton, Va.; a Son: William R. Koschel of Charleston; 4 Grandsons and 6 Great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Koschel was predeceased by a son, Robert Charles Koschel; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058 or to Reedy Creek Baptist Church, 2508 S. Hwy. 501, Marion, S.C. 29571.

Visitation will be held Wednesday morning immediately following the service at Smith-Collins Funeral Home.

Thomas Harris

CAMDEN — Thomas Burton Harris, 84, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004. A resident of Greenbrier, Florida since 1978, he had been staying with his son, Bill, in Camden, South Carolina for the last two years. He is also survived by his daughter, Bonnie, of Seattle and grandson, Morgan Freeland, also of Seattle.

Mr. Harris was born July 6, 1920. He attended Central Michigan University where he met his wife of 56 years, Nadine Robinson. They wed in 1944. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. The war and travels brought them to New England, where they raised their two children. While there, he attended Harvard Business School, founded the Harmar Company, and worked at the Society of Visual Education, a division of Singer, for many years.

Tom was a gregarious man who loved nothing more than meeting people and talking with them about anything under the sun. He was an avid golfer and while he was able, played often at the Greenbrier Country Club. He and Nadine were very active in the Greenbrier community for many years.

Robert McLaurin Jr.

DILLON — Funeral services for Robert Lee “Bobby” McLaurin, Jr., 67, of 2651 Highway 34 West, Dillon, S.C. will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church of Dillon conducted by Dr. John Bumgardner and assisted by Dr. Douglas Kelly. Interment will follow in the Dothan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the residence.

Mr. McLaurin died Tuesday, August 17, 2004. Born in Dillon County on February 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Robert Lee McLaurin, Sr. and O’Dessa Bethea McLaurin.

He was a graduate of Dillon High School in May 1955 and a graduate of Auburn University in March 1960 with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. McLaurin was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps serving on active duty from March 1960 to April 1965.

He was engaged in extensive farming activities with his father and brother for many years. In 1973 he and his brother were the recipients of the Dillon County Young Farmer of the Year award. He served on the Agricultural Advisory Committee for former Congressman Ed Young. Mr. McLaurin served two terms on the S.C. Pork Board, as well as the State Director of the S.C. Farm Bureau Federation.

Mr. McLaurin served as purchasing agent for Montone Trailer Company of Dillon and also as project site manager for Building Systems Inc. and Sun Construction of Darlington, S.C. in his later years.

He was on the Board of Trustees of the Marlboro Electric Coop of Bennettsville from 1970 to present. Most recently he served as vice-chairman of the board.

Mr. McLaurin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Deacons and was chairperson for two terms. He taught Sunday School classes for many years.

Surviving him in addition to his wife, Sue Hayes McLaurin of the home, is a daughter, Melissa, (Charles Cessna) of High Point, N.C.; a son, Robert Lee “Trey” McLaurin, III (Patricia) of Latta, S.C.; mother, O’Dessa Bethea McLaurin of Florence, S.C.; a sister, Mary Lutie McLaurin Fletcher (Wade Fletcher) of Hartsville, S.C. and three grandchildren, Salley, Ben, and Hannah Cessna of High Point, N.C. He was preceded in death by his father, R. Lee McLaurin, Sr. and brother, Duncan Bethea McLaurin.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Dillon, S.C. 29536, Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church of Minturn, S.C. or the Gideon Society.
