Paul Clark
LAKE CITY — Mr. Paul E. Clark, 80, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital, Lake City, after an illness.
Mr. Clark was born in Carlinville, Illinois, a son of the late Elmer and Maxie Vaughn Clark. He was a graduate of Knox College in Gailsburg, IL. Mr. Clark was a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army. He was drafted at the age of 18 serving in World War II and served six years as an enlisted soldier. After attending college, he re-entered the Army as an officer, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War as an Army Aviator, retiring in 1972. He then became a Nursing Home Administrator and was associated with Quality Care Management and its affiliates for 20 years. He was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church and the Abrams Sunday School Class. He was a member of Lake City Rotary Club, a Shriner, and Mason-member of Lake City Lodge #193.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Judith Rogers Clark of Lake City; two daughters, Stacey Lee (Robert J.) Clark Kraft of Poquoson, VA, and Patricia Clarke Bryant of New Port Richie, FL; three grandsons, David Kraft, Bradley Kraft and Matthew Kraft, all of Poquoson, VA; one granddaughter, Barbara Bryant Wattford; and one great-grandson.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2004, at Lake City First Baptist Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery.

Grace Tankersley
BLAIR — Mrs. Grace Beam Howard Tankersley, 93, of Ebenezer Senior Services in Rock Hill, formerly of Blair, died Saturday, August 21, 2004.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2004, at Salem Presbyterian Church, 276 Highway 215 N., Salem Crossroads, Blair, South Carolina with Rev. Richard Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1203 St. Mark’s Church Road, Cherryville, North Carolina.
She was born in Granite Falls, North Carolina and made her home in Blair, South Carolina. Mrs. Tankersley was a daughter of the late Mary F. McGinnis and Charlie L. Beam. She was the widow of George W. Howard and Clyde W. Tankersley. She retired from UniRoyal, Inc. with forty years of service and was a lifelong member of Salem Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are five nieces, Kay B. Lynes of Rock Hill, SC, Gwen B. Ouellette of Somerville, NJ, Mary Ann B. DeAmicis of Manchaster, NJ, Arline B. Meyer of Rochester, NY and Caroline B. Rodriguez of Brockport, NY; one nephew, Charles F. Beam of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five great-nieces, eight great-nephews; one great-great-niece and six great-great-nephews. Also surviving are four stepchildren, Clyde W. Tankersley, Jr., Charles Tankersley and Pauline T. Crisp of Whitmire, SC and Billy Joe Tankersley of Cross Hill, SC; twelve stepgrandchildren, fifteen stepgreat-grandchildren and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. A loving aunt and stepmother, she will be missed.
She was predeceased by her nephew, Larry E. Beam, Sr. of Chapin, SC in 2002.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2004, at the Pope Funeral Home of Winnsboro. L.C. Williams
APOPKA, Fla. — Mr. L.C. (Roy) Williams, of Apopka, FL, and formerly of Varnville, SC, died early Monday morning in the Sunbelt Nursing Home in Apopka, FL after an extended illness.
Burn July 1, 1931 in Covington County, AL, he was the son of the late George R. Williams and Lizzie Baggett Williams. He was a Marine Corps veteran and had been a welder for many years with both Westinghouse Corporation and Georgia Pacific in Hampton. He was of the Baptist faith. He and his wife, the late Kathryn Jones Lee Williams, had owned and operated Kathryn’s Nursery in Varnville.
He is survived by: 4 daughters: Audrey Nell, Stephanie, Nada and Debbie, all of South Carolina; 2 stepsons: Buddy Lee of Ruffin, SC and Danny Lee of Chapin, SC; 1 stepdaughter: Linda Wynn of Smoaks, SC; 3 brothers: Lellon Williams of Florala, AL, Larry Williams of Crestview, FL and Roy Williams of Temple, GA; 4 sisters: Alice Rushing of Louisiana, Clemmie Laird of Paxton, FL, Frances Reid of Apopka, FL and Mabel Cook of Waycross, GA. There are 5 stepgrandchildren and 5 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Tim Minchey. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery near Varnville.
Friends may call at the chapel from 5 until 7 PM on Tuesday evening and until the hour of services on Wednesday.

WEST COLUMBIA — Graveside services for Mrs. Kathryn “Kathy” Elizabeth Brock White, 54, of West Columbia, SC, will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, August 26, 2004, in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Chaplain Peyton Woolridge officiating. Mrs. White died Monday, August 23, 2004, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, following an extended illness. Born on August 30, 1949, in Tokyo, Japan, she was the only daughter of the late Milton Brock and Ona Sawyer. She had been a resident of West Columbia for the past 8 years. Mrs. White graduated from M.U.S.C. Nursing Program, received her Master’s Degree in Psych Nursing from Vanderbilt University, and her Post Master’s Degree from U.S.C. as Nurse Practitioner. She was employed with Palmetto Baptist Medical Center and had worked as an Instructor at the College of Nursing in Clemson. She served as Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing at U.S.C. Mrs. White was a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners Focus Group of Columbia, Wound, Ostomy Continence Nursing Society, former member of American Nurses Association, South Carolina Nurses Association, South Carolina Nurses Association Advanced Practice Counsel, Oncology Nursing Society, Riverbanks Chapter of Oncology Nursing Society, where she served as former President-Elect and President, South Carolina Hospital Association, where she participated as non-member in conducting Mock JCAHO Facility Surveys, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Leland McElveen and Staff of the S.C. Oncology Associates, the Nursing Staffs at Palmetto Richland Cancer Center Treatment and Research, and the 8th Floor Oncology Nursing Staff of Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, for their care and support.
She is survived by her husband, Allen H. White of West Columbia, SC; two step-sons, Allen Howard Jennings “A.J.” White of Houston, Texas , and Jonathan Andrew White of Bristol, TN; an Aunt, Laura Sawyer of Leesville, SC; a cousin, Kyle Sawyer of Houston, Texas . She was predeceased by a brother, Mac William “Butch” Brock.
