Raymond Scott Sr.

WARRENVILLE — Services for Raymond O. Scott Sr., 72, will be 4 p.m. Saturday (visitation 6-8 tonight) at Christian Heritage Church; burial: Bethany Cemetery, Aiken. Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville, is in charge. Born in Vaucluse to William and Evelyn Johnson Scott, he died Oct. 13, 2004. Surviving: wife, Nancy Appel Scott; children, Raymond Jr., Cecil Scott, Carol Herron; 7 grandchildren; nieces, nephews.

J.A. Sease

GILBERT — Services for J.A. (Jefferson Adolphus) Sease, 91, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 246 St. Paul’s Church Road, Gilbert, SC 29054 or Tri County Hospice, 166 Stone Ridge Dr., Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29210.

Mr. Sease died Thursday October 14, 2004. Born in Lexington County a son of the late James “Jimmy” E. and Corrie Price Sease. He was a life long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a founding member of Hollow Creek Community Club, the Young at Heart, a former Sunday School teacher (50 years), served on Church Council and Christian Education Superintendent.

Mr. Sease was a farmer and a security officer for the Federal Land Bank.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Carol Sease of West Columbia; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gerald Waters of West Columbia; Marilyn and Robert Rikard of Gilbert; sisters, Mozelle Kyzer of Lowman Home, White Rock, Idez Price of Gilbert; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lavinia Shealy Sease; a brother, Osborne Sease and a sister, Alice Ruth Hendrix.

Sarah Yearwood

ALLENDALE — Services with burial for Sarah Catherine Green Yearwood are 2 p.m. Saturday at Ervington Missionary Baptist Church. Cave Funeral Service is in charge. Born to Warren and Lizzie Green, she died Oct. 8, 2004. Surviving: parents; son, Marquis Yearwood; siblings, Quanita Fields, Gwendolyn Sanders, Patricia Gill, Cynthia Knight, Carolyn, Warren Jr., Paul, Kelvin Green, Melvin Flowers, Christopher Doss.

Frank Wells

DALZELL — Services with burial for Frank B. “Boy” Wells, 65, are 3:30 p.m. Saturday (viewing 2:30) at Unionville AME Church. Job’s Mortuary, Sumter, is in charge. Born in Lee Co. to Frank Sr. and Addie M. Wells, he died Oct. 9, 2004. Surviving: wife, Lillie M. Wells; children, Darlene Titus, Rosaline Porter, Pamela Singleton, Patricia, Ernest, Lloyd Wells, Ronald Mahoney; 3 siblings; 22 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

Quinten Wheeler

SUMTER — Services for Quinten Roshaun Wheeler, 16, are 2 p.m. Saturday (viewing 1 p.m.) at Lakewood High School; burial in Mayesville Cemetery. Job’s Mortuary is in charge. Born in Sumter to Clara Wheeler and Freddie Bracey, he died Oct. 9, 2004. Surviving: parents; siblings, Cortez Wheeler, Erica Smith; grandparents; Willie and Essie Wheeler; godparents, Aaron & Janice Leneau; 6 aunts; 11 uncles.

Calis Jones Jr.

COLUMBIA — Services for Calis Jones Jr., U.S. Army veteran, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church with burial in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Columbia to Calis Sr. and Bernice Jackson Jones, he died October 10, 2004. Surviving: children, Ray Bell, Calis Jones III, Tarsha Sanders, TeCorial Brookins; mother; three grandchildren; three stepchildren.

Carol Killon

LANCASTER — Services for Carol Love Killon, 65, widow of Bill Killon, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the graveside in Saddle Mountain Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home. Born in Lancaster to Albert and Mary Funderburk Love, she died October 13, 2004. Surviving are daughters, Tami Adams, Debra Brewer; brother, Dickie Love; sisters, Mary Carnes, Diana Love.

Mildred Maynor

ROCK HILL — Services for Mildred Whitaker Maynor, 78, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church; burial: Forest Hills Cemetery; visitation 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest. Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., to E.E. and Cora Clemmons Whitaker, she died Oct. 13, 2004. Surviving: husband, Sam; children, Michael Maynor, Jan Showkeir; 2 brothers; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

William Young

NEESES — William Gerald Young, 55, died Tuesday due to injuries received in a horseback riding accident. Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial in Norway Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at Thompson Funeral Home, Orangeburg.

Robert Yenny

ELLOREE — A memorial service for Mr. Robert “Bobby” Alfred Yenny, retired commercial fisherman, will be held Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 1 PM at Open Bible Baptist Church Swansea, SC with Pastor Joseph Williams officiating. As per his request, Bobby was cremated.

Mr. Yenny, 63, of Elloree, SC, husband of twenty-six years to Mrs. Alice Bartlett Yenny, died Wednesday, afternoon, October 13, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Columbia, SC, a son of the late Homer and Alberta Crossland Yenny, he had been a resident of the West Columbia/Cayce, SC, area prior to coming to Elloree, SC, twenty years ago. He was a retired self-employed commercial fisherman.

In addition to his wife, sons, Robert Yenny, Jr., Lexington, SC, Todd Yenny, Elloree, SC, Steven Jobe, Santee, SC, and Joseph Yenny, Sumter, SC; daughters, Ava Van Houten and Diane Jobe, both of Elloree, SC; a brother, Michael Yenny, Gaston, SC; sisters, Gayle Wieissenstein, Sumter, SC and Brenda Needler, Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, survive.

The family has asked that memorials in memory of Bobby be made to Hospice of the Regional Medical Center, P.O. Box 2352, Orangeburg, SC 29115.

CONCORD, N.C. — Services in South Carolina for Evelyn S. Smith, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church with burial in Mt. of Olives Cemetery, both in Johnston. Visitation is 6-11 p.m. today at Bland Funeral Home, also in Johnston. Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Smith died October 12, 2004, in Concord.

Doris Rutland

NEESES — Doris Laverne Hebrard Rutland, 88, died Thursday. Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. before the funeral service Saturday.

Kenneth Pfost

WEST COLUMBIA — A memorial service for Kenneth Walker Pfost, 92, of West Columbia, will be held at 4pm Monday, October 18, 2004 at Saluda River Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Tommy Spotts. Private entombment at Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum will take place at an earlier time. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Sunday, October 17 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Worldview Academy, PO Box 310106, New Braunfels, TX 78131.

Mr. Pfost died Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Born in Bakersfield, CA, he was the son of the late John Spencer and Florence Walker Pfost. Formerly of Fresno, CA, he had been an area resident since 1994. Mr. Pfost was a member of Saluda River Baptist Church and was retired from Vendo, Inc. He was a former participant with the Lexington County Aging Commission.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Hutson Pfost of West Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sharon Pfost of Lexington; grandchildren, Nic Pfost and David Pfost; and many friends. Mr. Pfost was preceded in death by his son, Gary Pfost.

Gloria Pauling

WINNSBORO — Services with burial for Gloria Jean Pauling, daughter of Jessie Mae Perry and John O’Neal, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Morris Creek Baptist Church. Visitation is 1 p.m.-9 tonight at Glover’s Memorial Chapel. She died October 13, 2004. Surviving are her husband, Wayne Pauling; children, Travis O’Neal, Latilicia Woodard; mother; sisters; brothers; other relatives and friends.

Joseph Olmstead

WEST COLUMBIA — Memorial services for Dr. Joseph Addison Olmstead, Jr., 82, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.

Dr. Olmstead died Thursday, October 14, 2004. Born in Hope, AR, he was the son of Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Lillian Goff Olmstead.

He is survived by his wife, Burnelle Olmstead of West Columbia, daughter; Rhonda Jo Hennick of Pelion, SC and three grandchildren.

Kathleen Missert

MURRELLS INLET — A memorial service for Kathleen Noelle Missert, 34, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, Pawleys Island, where she was a member. Graham Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Wilmington, Del., to William and Teresa Wcislo Missert, she died Oct. 13, 2004. She was a cosmetologist. Surviving are parents; daughter, Ashley Green; brother, Jon Missert.

R. Bruce Miller

ELGIN — A service to celebrate the life of Mr. R. Bruce Miller, retired E.I. Du Pont, will be held Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2666 Hwy. 1 S, Elgin, SC, with Pastor Ken Jackson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Miller, 68, went to join his heavenly father Sunday, October 10, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sioux Falls, SD, a son of the late Henry X. and Bertha J. Gross Miller, he had been a resident of Elgin, SC, since 1968 where he was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mr. Miller had a great love for God, his family, who he loved spending time with, and ministering to the deaf.

Sons, Robert George Miller, and Russell Bruce Miller, II, both of Elgin, SC; daughters, Robin Miller Griffin, Marshville, NC, Sandra Miller Rankin, Elgin, SC, and Melissa Miller O’Quinn, North Augusta, SC; brother, Elliott V. Miller, Arlington, MA; sisters, Nancy Miller Shapiro and Larry Miller Servino, both of Edison, NJ; special friends, Betty Horton, McBee, SC and Aaronda and Lacey Goulding of Johnson City, TN, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, survive. In addition to his parents, a son, Roger Brian Miller, a grandchild, Morgan Miller Griffin, and a sister, Sandra Miller Nikolich, preceded him in death.

The family has asked that memorials be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2666 Hwy. 1 S., Elgin, SC 29045 or S.C.R.I.D 145 Lynn Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29306.

Drusilla Meetze

CAYCE — Services for Drusilla Shumpert Meetze, 79, of Cayce, will be held at 2 pm Saturday, October 16, 2004 in Grace Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Bob Kelley. Burial will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church or Tri-County Hospice.

Mrs. Meetze, widow of Matthew Gerald Meetze, died October 14, 2004. Born in West Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Belton and Mellie Rosealpha Shull Shumpert. Mrs. Meetze was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Senior Saints Sunday School Class. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mill.

Surviving are her daughter, Dian Meetze of West Columbia; and son, David Meetze of Lexington.

Mrs. Meetze was predeceased by two sons, Matthew Gerald (Jerry) Meetze, Jr. and Michael Preston Meetze.

Tamie Benson

COLUMBIA — Service and burial for Tamie Sutton Benson, 44, are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Turner Memorial AME Church. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. today at Jones Metropolitan Funeral Home, West Columbia. Born in Richland Co. to Robert and Joann Sutton, she died Oct. 14, 2004. Surviving: mother; daughters, Kendra and Khadijah Sutton; siblings, Tonya Hightower, Corey Washington , Carl and Robert Sutton.
