CHARLOTTE KING
Funeral services for Charlotte Fields King, 94, were held at 12 noon Monday, March 4, 2002, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Beck officiated with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. King, widow of Ebb Beasley and Pat King Sr., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002. She was employed for many years in the nursery at Byerly Hospital.
Surviving are her son, Pat B. King Jr. of Logan, Utah; three grandchildren, Jacy, Jardy and Leon King.
HENRY A. WHITE
GREENVILLE, N.C. – A memorial service for Mr. Henry Alexander (Alex) White, 79, was held Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial was private in Pinewood Memorial Park directed by Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Mr. White died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Cypress Glen. A native of Edenton, N.C., Mr. White was a graduate of the Edenton High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Air Force. He was a resident of Greenville for the past 52 years and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was employed for 36 years at East Carolina University, retiring in 1984 as comptroller.
Survivors include his wife, Helen D. White; daughters, Becky W. Jones and her husband, Greg, of Belhaven, N.C., Anna W. Hill and her husband, Trent, of Hartsville, and Catharine W. Koonce and her husband, David of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren, Lt. Greg Jones Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Corpus Christi, Texas , Scottie Hill of New York City, Kevin A. Jones of Wake Forest, N.C., Becky Hill of Clemson, Cara Jones of Belhaven, N.C., Bo Hill of Clemson, and Jack Koonce and Alex Koonce both of Jacksonville, N.C.; great grandson, Dawson Jones of Belhaven, N.C.; brothers, William Allen White of New Orleans, La., and Samuel White of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Saintie Hand of Stanley, N.C., and Mary Eliza Wilkins of Suffolk, Va.

JLILLY DALTON
Funeral Services for Lilly Braddock Dalton, 69, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Cliff Barfield officiated with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dalton died Friday, March 1, 2002. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late John Boyd and Nancy Cummings Braddock. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are her husband, Marvin Dalton of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Emitt Gunnells of Hartsville, Nancy and John McLeod of Hartsville; sister, Gladys O'Neal of Hartsville; brother, J. B. Braddock of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; granddaughters, Christina Moore, Ashley Moody, Elizabeth Gunnells, Stephanie Gunnells; and two great-grandsons.
MARY BYRD
SOCIETY HILL – Funeral services for Mary Tolson Byrd, 66, were at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Byrd, widow of Clayton Byrd, died Saturday, March 2, 2002. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Murph and Ada Winburn Tolson. She was a loving mother and devoted member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the choir, and worked at First United Methodist Daycare in Cheraw.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Mary Byrd of Society Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Delene and James Yow of Society Hill; special children, Renee and Eugene Aycock of Patrick; sisters, Ann Lawrence of Hartsville, Faye Teal of Wadesboro, N.C.; grandchildren and spouse, Charlie Byrd, Tracy and Timmy Beasley, Kelli Hall, Charles Aycock, and Phillip Aycock.
MIRIAM LLOYD
LYDIA – Funeral services for Miriam Gainey Lloyd, 80, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2002, at Mount Elon Baptist Church. The Revs. Tom Faucett, Robbin King, and Dr. Wayne Williams officiated with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lloyd died Friday, March 1, 2002. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Tom Wesley and Bessie Stokes Gainey. She was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church, a graduate of Saunders Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and was retired from both Byerly Hospital and Morrell Memorial Convalescent Center. She was a member of the Araminta Josey Sunday school class and the Hannah Plowden Circle.
Surviving are her husband, William H. Lloyd Sr. of Lydia; sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Becky Lloyd, and Billy Lloyd, all of Lydia, SC; daughter, Susan Lloyd of Lydia; granddaughter, Missy Spencer of Lydia; great-grandson, Tracy Spencer of Lydia; sister, Lucille Chapman of Hartsville; and brother, Clyde Gainey of Hartsville. She was predeceased by her brother, James Tommy Gainey; sisters, Jessie Rucker, Gladys Hoffman, and Thelma Amerson.
ELEASE HAM
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Funeral services for Elease "Mudda" Ham were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, in New Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in the church Cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ham died Saturday, Feb. 23, in Winston Salem after an illness. She was born in Darlington County and was the daughter of Clifton Moses and the late Mary Catherine Kennedy Moses. She was educated in Darlington County public schools and worked with Hines Family Care Group in Winston Salem for four years.
Survivors are her husband, Harvey Ham of Winston Salem; one daughter, Kimberly Ham of Winston Salem; three sons, Brian Ham, Wilerlee Ham and Albert Hall, all of Winston Salem; three sisters, Lillie Dell Davis, Connie Mae Coe and Mary Kennedy; five brothers, Henry Moses, Clifton Moses Jr., Mack Moses, Jerry Moses and Robert Lee Moses; mother-in-law, Lillie Ham; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and six grandchildren.
JUNIOUS LEE JACOBS
Funeral services for Junious Lee "Head" Jacobs were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. Burial was in St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mr. Jacobs died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Wilson Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Wando and Paretto Lewis Jacobs. He was educated in Darlington County public schools and worked with Sam Johnson Trucking Co. for more than 40 years. He attended St. John United Methodist Church, his parents' and family's church, and also attended The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ, the church of his wife and children.
Survivors are his wife, Thelma Jacobs of the home; three daughters, Ruby (Jerome) Mitchell and Betty Jacobs of McBee and Annette (Monroe) McMillan of Hartsville; three sons, Willie (Frankie) Jacobs of Darlington, Charles (Lucy) Jacobs of Society Hill and Robert Jacobs of Baltimore, Md.; seven sisters, Eva Mae Jacobs and Kathy (Leon) Hannibal of Lamar, Lois (Freddie) Wilson, Inez Jacobs and Modestine Jacobs of Hartsville, Mae Bell (Ernest) Whitaker and Julia Mae Williams of Washington , D.C.; five brothers, Ronnie Jacobs of Darlington, Warley Jacobs, Johnny (Gloria) Jacobs, Curly (Francis) Wingate and Henry Coe of Hartsville; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
