CHRISTINE ROLFE

Funeral services for Christine McNeill Rolfe, 67, were held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando, Fla., directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 NW Ninth Avenue, Miami, FL 33136.

Mrs. Rolfe died Sunday, June 16, 2002. Born in Mullins, she was a daughter of the late Irving Malcolm and Lola Belle McNeill. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Charles G. Rolfe of Hartsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marcie Rolfe of Titusville, Fla., Earle and Sabrena Rolfe of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Steve Rice of Apopka, Fla.; sister, Doris Riley of Cabot, Ark.; brother, Grady McNeill of Florence; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

MELITA McPHERSON

BETHUNE - Funeral services for Melita B. McPherson, 69, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Bethel United Methodist Church. The Revs. Larry Brown and Ed Davidson officiated with burial in Bethel cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Church Cemetery fund, PO Box 636, Bethune, SC 29009.

Mrs. McPherson, wife of Walter G. McPherson, Jr., died Thursday, June 13, 2002. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of Malloy Hearon Weathers and the late Thomas J. Burley. She was a K-5 teacher at Robert E. Lee Academy for 16 years.

Surviving are her husband of Bethune; sons and daughter-in-law, Walter McPherson of Lexington, Graham and Jenifer McPherson of Hartsville; mother of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Thomas Joel Burley of Tampa, Fla.; grandson, Tallon McPherson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie McPherson.

EDITH HUGGINS

Funeral services for Edith Johnson Huggins, 87, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge. The Revs. Billy Campbell and Philip Watry officiated with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Huggins, widow of Doode Huggins, died Thursday, June 13, 2002. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Murray M. and Camella Hall Johnson. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Shirley Huggins of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Eloise and Keith Blackmon, Billie and Elton Newman, all of Bethune, Ann and Johnny Brown, Patricia and Howard Dampier, Sharon and Johnny Sturdivant, all of Hartsville; brother, Murray Johnson Jr. of Hartsville; sister, Bettie Hewitt of Hartsville; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Mendel Huggins.

CALLIS WATSON

Graveside services for Callis Archie Watson, 67, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in the Society Hill Mormon Cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends after the service.

Mr. Watson died Thursday, June 13, 2002. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of Callis Alma and Margaret Wallace Watson. He lived in Richmond, Va., and was a retired Greyhound Bus Driver. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Rawlings Watson of Richmond, Va.; children, Allison Mickelson, Crystal Orndorff, Heather Rogers, Temple Watson, Callis H. Watson, Jared M. Watson, Joshua M. Watson, Brooke N. Lipscomb, Brenda Nelson; parents; brothers, Charles Watson, John G. Watson, David Watson, Mark T. Watson; sister, Pamela Lichty; and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Watson.

ROSIA LEE JAMES

Funeral services for Rosia Lee Poole James, 81, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, in Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Monel Smith officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mrs. James died Wednesday, June 19, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Nathan and Bertha Dubose Poole. She received her education in the public schools of Darlington County.

In 1945 she moved to Baltimore, Md., and worked in various occupations. She then received training in the health care profession and worked at the Garwyn Medical Center for many years.

Surviving are a daughter, Valerie James of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Elin James Sr. of Lexington, Tenn., and Anthony James Sr. of Baltimore, Md.; 28 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

SERNAND PIERRE

HAITI - Sernand Pierre, 80, died Sunday, June 23, 2002. Local arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. He was the father of the Rev. Patrick Pierre of Society Hill.

ANNIE MIXON BEASLEY

Services for Annie Mixon Beasley, 89, widow of Sam J. Beasley Sr., who died June 20, were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church. The Revs. James E. Beck Jr. and Hazel Mixon officiated. Burial followed in the church Cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beasley was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Bozie and Mamie Lloyd Mixon. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are six daughters, Corine Hatchell, Betty Winburn, Azalie Geise, Joanne McKay, Annie Marie Smother and Julie Tyner, all of Hartsville; three sons, Samuel J. (Bud) Beasley Jr., Johnny Beasley and David Beasley, all of Hartsville; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by daughters, Elaine Smothers and Letha Amerson.

Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 3224 Liberty Hill Church Road, Hartsville, SC 29550.

JAMES A. YARBOROUGH

DARLINGTON - James Austin Yarborough, 6, of Darlington, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in a Florence hospital. Services were held Sunday, June 23, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Dovesville Church of God, conducted by the Revs. Harold Collins and Randy Wilson, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Black Creek Cemetery.

Austin was born in Darlington County, a son of Christopher Ernest Yarborough and Jennifer Gandy Yarborough. He loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors. Austin was a kindergarten student at St. John's Elementary School and will be greatly missed by everyone. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Margaret Yarborough, and his step-maternal grandmother, Thelma Gandy.

Surviving are his mother of the home; his father, of Hartsville; two brothers, Chris and Skyler of the home; his maternal grandmother, Debra Gardner of Hartsville; his maternal grandfather, James A. Gandy of Darlington; and his great-grandmothers, Dorothy Cagle and Beatrice Bell, both of Hartsville.

ROSE YEBUAH

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mrs. Rose Yebuah, mother of Dr. Frederick Yebuah, pastor of the St. John/Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of the Hartsville District, died on Monday, June 17 after an illness. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Word of Life Christian Center in Nashville, Tenn. Hines Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

REV. MANLEY CAMPBELL

Funeral services for the Rev. A. Manley Campbell, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. David Surrett and Dewey Dean will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity or church of choice.

The Rev. Campbell died Monday, June 24, 2002. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Laurence Franklin and Mae Manley Campbell. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He served the following churches during his ministry: 1957, Mt. View Fews Chapel; 1958, Green Pond; 1961, Beulah, Trinity, Hopewell, Oak Grove; 1966, Bethlehem, Prospect, New Market; 1971, Arrington Poe; 1974, Bogansville; 1978, Grace, Patterson Chapel; 1980, Unity; 1983, Gravely Memorial; 1987 Montgomery Memorial. He attended Furman University, Emory University Theological Seminary, and was a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge No. 173.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Poore Campbell of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Janie Campbell of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bill Stewart of Florida; brother, J. Tommy Campbell of Anderson; grandchildren, Nate O'Dell of Florida, Allen O'Dell of Florida, Andrew Campbell of Hartsville, Patricia Campbell of Hartsville; and great-grandchild, Brycen Campbell of Hartsville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorcas Holcomb; brothers, Watson Campbell, and Lawrence Campbell, Jr.
