HANNAH J. WADDELL

DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Hannah Jane Watson Waddell, 91, formerly of Darlington, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. Interment followed in Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints Cemetery in Society Hill.

Mrs. Waddell died Saturday, July 20, in Mesa, Ariz. She was born in Kelleytown, daughter of the late William Davis and Anna Hainey Watson. She was a retired salesperson of personal products and was a member of Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saint. Mrs. Waddell moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline (Lawrence) Zufelt of Mesa, Ariz., and Sarah Holley of Darlington; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great-grandchildren; one brother, W. J. Watson of Hartsville; and a sister, Ila Mae Williamson Parker also of Hartsville.

Mrs. Waddell was preceded in death by a son, James Lawson Waddell Jr., and grandson, Clifton Byrd.

BEATRICE HILTON

LAMAR - Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Hilton were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Macedonia Holiness Church in Cartersville, with the Rev. Damon Thompson, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church Cemetery, with professional services directed by Hines Funeral Home, Inc., of Lamar.

Mrs. Hilton died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Boston Stukes and Sarah Steadman. She was educated in Darlington County public schools and was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Macedonia Holiness Church and served on its Missionary Society.

Survivors are five daughters, Sarah (Jerome) Robinson of Timmonsville, Bessie (Johnnie) Benjamin, Bertha (Bubbie) George and Barbara (Jimmy) Johnson all of Lamar, and Gladys Akanno of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four sons, Isaac Hilton of Conway, Herbert Hilton of Freeport, N.Y., James Hilton of Timmonsville and Robert Hilton of Bennettsville; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Hilton of Florence; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

JOHN A. OWENS, JR.

FLORENCE - Funeral services for John A. Owens Jr., 66, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial followed in Gapway Baptist Church Cemetery near Mullins.

Mr. Owens died early Thursday morning, July 25, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born in Horry County, a son of the late John Alex and Myrtle Horne Owens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by CD Electric until his retirement. He was a member of Mizpah Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Bell Owens of Florence; a son, John Alexander (John-John) Owens III of Florence; two daughters, Robyn Lin (Dale) Collins of Galivants Ferry and Leslie (Marty) Mincey of Hartsville; four brothers, Ernest (Sarah) Owens, Terry (Debra) Owens, both of Aynor, and Willard Owens and Carroll (Judy) Owens, both of Nichols; three sisters, Elizabeth (Richard) Oliver of Las Vegas, Nev., Thelma Jean Reaves of Lumberton, N.C., Ora Mae (Bernice) Jackson of Mullins; five grandchildren, Patrick, Cody and Tristin Mincey and Holly Collins and Blayne Owens.

FAYE B. McINTOSH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - A graveside memorial service and burial for Faye Baxley McIntosh, 67, originally from Darlington, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in Grove Hill Cemetery in Darlington. The Rev. Debra J. Boynton of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hartsville, will be conducting the service, with Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home in charge of South Carolina arrangements.

Mrs. McIntosh died Friday, July 12. She was a graduate of St. John's High School in Darlington and received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Coker College, as well as a master's of art and teaching degree from Vanderbilt. She taught at Coker College and later moved to Alabama, where she was employed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for many years as a technical writer. She enjoyed sewing in her spare time and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Huntsville.

Survivors include one son, Charles McIntosh of Huntsville; one daughter, Elizabeth Kellner of Huntsville; one brother, Bert Baxley of Laughlin, Nev.; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, William H. Baxley of Hartsville; and had numerous nieces, nephews and friends in South Carolina.

Memorials may be made to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, PO Box MSC2540, Bethesda, MD 20892-2540.

VICKIE TEDDER

Funeral services for Vickie Lee Tedder, 51, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Chapel. The Rev. Charlotte Walters officiated with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mrs. Tedder, widow of Herman P. "Ted" Tedder, died Thursday, July 25, 2002. Born in Newton, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Freddie and Elizabeth McAlister Parker.

Surviving are her son, Herman P. "Todd" Tedder III, of Hartsville; daughters, Melinda Callihan of Hartsville, Cheryl Ann Callihan and Christina Callihan, both of Olathia, Mo.; step-daughters, Teresa Tedder and Shannon Jordan, both of Hartsville; brothers, Bobby Templeton of Kansas City, Mo., Danny Templeton of Grandview, Mo., Freddie Joe Parker of Massachusetts; sisters, Tina Templeton and Carol O'Neal, both of Hartsville; and six grandchildren.

FRANKIE M. DAVIS

SURFSIDE - Funeral services for Frankie Monroe Davis, 43, formerly of Darlington, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment in Darlington Memory Gardens.

Mr. Davis died Sunday, July 28, at Grand Strand Hospital from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. He was born in Columbia, a son of Frazier Davis and the late Opal Shouse Davis. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a construction worker and member of Horry County Christian Bikers.

Surviving in addition to his father of CHesterfield; his wife, Donna Davis of Surfside; a son, Frankie M. Davis Jr.; four step-daughters, Tarra, Toni, Tiffany and Tabitha; two grandchildren; three brothers, George Frazier "Buster" Davis Jr. of Calif., Roger D. Davis of Effingham and Matthew Davis of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Linda D. Googe also of Denver and Debbie D. Askins of Hartsville. Also surviving is his step-mother, Rosa Davis. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Danielle Davis.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

OTIS McDANIELS

DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Otis "Ricky" McDaniels will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Rev. William S. James, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home.

Mr. McDaniels died Saturday, July 27, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Maxie and Sylilla Dials McDaniels and was the adopted son of Virginia Murray Wingate and the late Tyler Wingate. He was educated in the Darlington County public schools and was a life member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the United Methodist Men Organization, Jubilee Choir and any other capacity as needed. He was a member and lead singer with the John Wesley United Methodist Men Chorus.

For a number of years he was employed at Brockington Elementary School as a custodian; his last employment was at Clanton's Auto Sales of Darlington until her retired.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 52 years, Shirley Mixon McDaniels of the home; adopted mother, Virginia Wingate of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Otis (Deloris) McDaniels Jr., of Lamar and Mark McDaniels of the home; six daughters, Salilla (Nathaniel) Bell, Willisteen (Clarence) Black, Carolyn Cooper, Hazel McDaniels, all of Columbia, Priscilla McDaniels of the home and Barbara Stevenson (Levern) of Lamar; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sons-in-law; half-brother and sisters, David and Zena Samuel of Darlington, Roberta, Josephine, Celestine and Willie Mae, all of Baltimore, Md.; seven adopted sisters, two adopted brother, nieces, nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 209 S. Sansbury Road, Timmonsville.

EDWARD LEE WEBB SR.

Funeral services for Edward Lee Webb Sr., 56, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Twitty United Methodist Church. The Rev. DeVere Williams will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Webb died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Born in Kingstree, he was a son of Ruth Phipps Webb and the late Muldrow Webb. He was employed with the City of Cheraw as a water operator.

Surviving are his wife, Syble Huggins Webb of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Lisa Webb of Hartsville; mother of Hartsville; sister, Carole Polson of Hartsville; brother, Johnny Webb of Hartsville; half-sister, Virginia Downey of Darlington; grandchildren, Taylor Webb and Christian Webb.
