CALHOUN FALLS — John Pat “J.P.” Brown Sr., 80, of 411 N. Burton Drive, husband of Frances Brown, died May 25, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Elberton, Ga., he was a son of the late Lewis and Myrtle Freedman Brown. He retired from the textile industry, was a World War II Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, John Pat Brown Jr. of Abbeville; a daughter, Linda B. Porter of Calhoun Falls; a brother, Lewis Brown of Calhoun Falls; a sister, Wilma Gary of Anderson; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a step-granddaughter.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Dalton and the Rev. Lawrence Johnson. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
Pallbearers are Craig Wiley, Jackie Gary, Danny Smith, Terry McCurry, Johnny Hall and Rickey Leverette.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Renee Chrisley

GREENWOOD — Kathy Renee Chrisley, 20, of 1011 Parkland Place Road, Lot 6, died Nov. 2, 1999. She was found May 24, 2000.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Kathy Diane Parnell Chrisley. She had attended Emerald Junior High School and was employed by New York Pizza and Pasta. She attended Ninety Six Church of God.
Survivors include her mother of the home; a son, Michael Jalin Chrisley of the home; and a brother, Mike Chrisley of Greenwood.
Services will be at 2 Sunday at South Main Street Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ryan Eklund, the Rev. Roy Burroughs and the Rev. Timothy Brimm{* cq *} . Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The casket will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are Bobby Hall, Chris Parnell, Danny Parnell, Eric Chrisley, Lee Chrisley and Jed Rogers.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of an uncle, Shane Chrisley, 103 Briddle Court, Saddle Hill subdivision.
Memorials may be made to the account of Renee Chrisley, c/o Harley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 777, Greenwood, S.C. 29648.

Thomas W. Creswell Sr.

GREENVILLE — Thomas W. “Tommy” Creswell Sr., 73, of 405 Eastcliffe Way, husband of Blanche Gilstrap Creswell, died May 25, 2000, at South Strand Hospital in Surfside.
Born in Bradley, he was a son of the late Oliver B. and Leo Wilson Creswell. He retired as superintendent of the Street Department with the City of Greenville and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Berea Friendship United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men and the B.R. Huckaby Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the American Legion, James F. Daniel Jr. Post No. 3 and the First Marine Division Association.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Wilson Creswell Jr. of Greenville; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Denise) Brown of Anderson; three brothers, Donald Creswell of Greenwood, Harold Creswell of Verdery and Craig Creswell of Bradley; a sister, Josephine Ridlehoover of Bradley; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Sunday at Berea Friendship United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Cy Rogers. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, West.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Westville Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Berea Friendship United Methodist Church, 8001 White Horse Road, Greenville, S.C. 29617.

Shirley Glenda Robinson

GREENWOOD — Shirley Glenda Luker Robinson, 60, of 116 Jebosha St., wife of Billy Paul Robinson, died May 26, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Harold Curtis and Edith Whatley Luker. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Paul Edward Robinson and James Thomas Robinson, both of the home; a daughter, Melinda Ann Robinson of Greenwood; two brothers, James Harold Luker of Ware Shoals and Phil Stanley Luker of Greenwood; two sisters, Carolyn Harrison and Carlotta Willis, both of Greenwood; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 4 Sunday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Craig Hughes and the Rev. Chris Harrison. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Frank Smith, Hugh Riley, Rudolph Price, Talmedge Luker, Pete Luker, Glenn McDonald and Melvin Toby Luker.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Carlotta Willis, 155 Effie Drive, Greenwood.

GREENWOOD — Services for Hugh Tate, of 368 Joe Lewis Blvd., will be at 3 Sunday at Milway Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lonnie Jones. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Patrick Holloway, Dale White, and nephews.
Flower bearers are Celeste Peterson, Tiffany Goode, Dorothy Coleman, Catherine Childs, Rita Hull, Lisa Floyd and Tonga White.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at the home.

GREENWOOD — Catherine B. Walters died May 26, 2000, at National Health Care of Greenwood.
The family is at the home of her son, David Walters, 419 Panacea Road, in Augusta Fields, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Emma Lavinia Gambrell
GREENVILLE — Emma Lavinia Jay Gambrell, 82, formerly of Princess Avenue, widow of James Albert Gambrell, died April 14, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Edward Furman and Anna Lucile Parks Jay. She graduated from Limestone College and taught in Abbeville and Blacksburg county schools. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church, the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the WMU. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. John T. (Mary Ella) Deveney of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother Robert R. “Buddy” Jay of Greenwood; and a grandson. Services will be at 3:30 Sunday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with burial in Graceland Cemetery, West. Visitation is from 2:15-3:15 Sunday at the funeral home. Edna Clark Turner
NINETY SIX — Edna Clark Turner, 71, of 101 Pine Drive, Greenwood Shores, wife of Thomas A. Turner, died April 14, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late John Robert and Julia Shirley Clark. She was secretary to the president of Jefferson Life & Casualty Insurance Co., Birmingham, Ala., and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband of the home; four sisters, Margie Rushton and Mildred Clark, both of Greenwood, Doris Attaway and Lois Phelps, both of Ninety Six; and a brother, John Vernon Clark of Ninety Six. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Steven Crittendon and the Rev. Fred Smith. Visitation is from 10-11 Monday at the funeral home. Family members are at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles B. Yates Jr.
McCORMICK — Charles Britton Yates Jr., 71, of West Subdivision, Lot 245, widower of Nora Talbert Yates, died April 13, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Charles Yates and Bertie Ives Yates Toczko. He retired from the Army, a veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Staff Sgt. Barry Lee Yates of Fort Benning, Ga.; a daughter, Charlene Elizabeth Yates of McCormick; a brother, Madison Lamar Yates of Sumter; a sister, Carol Y. Morris of Sumter; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 3 Sunday at Rehoboth Baptist Church, Plum Branch, conducted by the Rev. Tim Conort. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Pallbearers are the men of the church. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Strom Funeral Home. Strom Funeral Home is in charge.

ABBEVILLE — Services for Willie Black, of 406 Secession Ave., will be at 1:30 Monday at St. Paul Church of God Holines, conducted by Elder Heyward Black and the Rev. Willie Black. Burial will be in Harbison Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30. The family is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Lucille Tolbert, 402 Cambridge St., Abbeville. Eva T. Bragg
SPARTANBURG — Eva Thomas Bragg, 88, formerly of 234 Green Creek Road, widow of James F. Bragg, died April 14, 2000, at Magnolia Manor. She was a daughter of the late Alvin and Hattie B. Thomas. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley B. Ballard of Spartanburg and Dorothy B. Smyly of Waterloo; a son, James F. Bragg Jr. of Spartanburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 Monday at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Melton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the chapel. The family is at 234 Green Creek Road. Memorials may be made to Saxon Baptist Church, 7½ Front St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29301. J.F. Floyd Mortuary is in charge.

Norman Foster
BRADLEY — Norman Foster, 83, of 107 Vicky Drive, died April 14, 2000, at his home. Born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Viola Foster. He was an Army veteran and a retired truck driver for White’s Lumber Co. He was a member of Milway Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Gertrude Foster of the home and a nephew reared in the home, Klught Foster of the home. The family is at the home in Promised Land Community. Services will be announced by Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc., Greenwood, which is in charge.

Charles W. Postell
CALHOUN FALLS — Charles W. Postell, 69, of 203 Caldwell St., husband of Louise Postell, died April 13, 2000, at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Ga. A son of the late Robert and Hattie Huff Postell, he was a retired Navy serviceman. Survivors include his wife; a son, Johnny Postell; a daughter, Gloria Postell of Landover, Fla.; two sisters, Gertrude Postell of Calhoun Falls and Beatrice Postell of Washington , D.C.; and several grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richie Funeral Home, Abbeville, conducted by the Rev. William T. Lee. Burial will be in Harbison Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening at the home of a sister, Gertrude Postell, 203 Caldwell St., Calhoun Falls. Richie Funeral Home, Abbeville, is in charge.
