Clemmie M. Wilson

WARE SHOALS — Clemmie Myers Wilson, 88, of 2 Holloway Drive, widow of Alonzo Wilson, passed away Aug. 20, 2000, at her home.
Born in Gainesville, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Dee Cee Massey Myers. She retired from Riegel Textile Corp., where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and the Philathea Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Evaline Wilson of the home; a half brother, I.D. Ward of West Columbia; two half sisters, Ruth Ward and Lilla B. Ward, both of Columbia; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Leon Jones and the Rev. Dan Compton. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 1-2 Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Ware Shoals.
Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge.

Wilber Kenneth Brown

GREENWOOD — Wilber Kenneth Brown, 78, of 113 Stoker Road, husband of Bernice Brown, passed away Aug. 22, 2000, at his home.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Tony Len Cobb

GREENWOOD — Tony Len Cobb, 47, passed away Aug. 20, 2000, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of James Henry Cobb and the late Effie Spivey Cobb.
Survivors include his father; two sons, James H. Cobb II and Tony L. Cobb II, both of Greenwood; three daughters, Tonya Harrison, Stacie Cobb and Stephanie Cobb, all of Greenwood; four brothers, Donald Cobb and David Cobb, both of Greenwood, Mike Banks of Greenville and Melvin Banks of Fayetteville, N.C.; a sister, Tammy Banks of Simpsonville; and a grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 5 Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Rick Harrison and the Rev. William Patterson.
Visitation is after the service, at the funeral home, until 9 p.m.
East Coast Cremation and Funeral Service, Sunset Beach, N.C., is in charge.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Rebecca Cockrell

GREENWOOD — Rebecca Ouzts “Becky” Cockrell, 60, of 1510 E. Scotch Cross Road, wife of Tom P. Cockrell, passed away Aug. 20, 2000, at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Elizabeth Gilreath Ouzts Brannon and the late Oscar Ouzts. She retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after 24 years of service. In 1995, she received the Knight-N-Shining Armor Medal from the Law Enforcement Division. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother of Ninety Six; three daughters, Deborah J. Leckliter of Kings Mountain, N.C., Katherine E. Williams of Greenwood and Haley A. Griffin of Laurens; a stepdaughter, Kathy Lynn Williams of Laurens; two stepsons, Timothy John Cockrell and Michael James Cockrell, both of Mountville; a brother, Donald Ouzts of Ninety Six; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Randy Ouzts and the Rev. Thomas Cartledge. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are troopers from Greenwood District, S.C. Highway Patrol.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Pete Davis

SALUDA — Eugene Gary “Pete” Davis, 77, of Route 2, Chappells Highway, husband of Virginia Cooper Davis, passed away Aug. 21, 2000, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Ernest Gary and Rose Paysinger Davis. He retired from the E and I Department of Savannah River Plant and served in the Navy during World War II, aboard the destroyer USS Winslow. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Virginia Anne Hoyle of Garrisonville, Va.; a son, Eugene Gary “Pete” Davis Jr. of Salem; a brother, Carol R. “Buck” Davis of Saluda; a sister, Amelia “Boots” Reece of Edgefield; three granddaughters and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Wednesday at Red Bank Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gary Romines. Burial will be in Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 309 E. Church St., Saluda, S.C. 29138 or to the church of one’s choice.
Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.

John T. Johnson

PAGELAND — John Thomas Johnson, 61, husband of Fay Pressley Johnson, passed away Aug. 20, 2000.
Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late John Gary and Nettie Mae Owens Johnson. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a retired truck driver with L.G. Dewitt Trucking Inc.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son John “Scoot” Johnson of the home; two daughters, Bobbie Jones of Monroe, N.C., and Ellen Eudy of Pageland; a sister, Shirley Johnson of Pageland; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Providence Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church Youth Fund, Route 1, Box 38, Pageland, S.C. 29728.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, is in charge.

Barbara Ann Nelson

WEST COLUMBIA — Barbara Ann Nelson, 62, passed away Aug. 17, 2000.
Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late William Columbus and Ola Miller Nelson.
Survivors include two brothers, William Nelson of Johnston and Raymond Nelson of Spartanburg; and a half brother, Clifford Foster of Prosperity.
Memorial services were held Sunday at Shives Funeral Home, with Pastor Dermon A. Sox officiating.
Shives Funeral Home was in charge.

John Calvin Owens

JOANNA — John Calvin Owens, 76, of 206 Blalock Drive, widower of Margaret Lyons Owens, passed away Aug. 20, 2000, at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Joanna, he was a son of the late Calvin Odell and Myrtle Flow Owens. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Blalock Plant, and was an Army Air Corps veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Owens and Ricky Owens, both of Kinards; a daughter, Jessie Jacks of Joanna; a brother, Derrill Owens of Trenton; a sister, Edna Murrell of Trenton, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Gray Funeral Home, Clinton, with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lois Abrams, 111 E. Walnut St., Clinton, S.C. 29325.

Lucille Rice

DONALDS — Lucille Rice, 94, of 134 Olin Smith Road, passed away Aug. 21, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson-Walker Funeral Service, Ware Shoals, which is in charge.

Edd B. Riley

LEXINGTON — Edd B. Riley, 67, husband of Myriam Keisler Riley, passed away Aug. 18, 2000.
Born in Saluda, he was a son of the late Jesse and Ola Force Riley. He retired from the South Carolina National Guard and E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Site. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served on the church council for many years.
Survivors include his wife of Lexington; three daughters, Mrs. Eddie (Deborah) Foust and Mrs. Danny (Amy) Graham, both of Lexington and Mrs. Bob (Terri) Reid of Fort Mill; three brothers, Cauthen Riley of Newberry, Dewitt Riley of Batesburg and Kelly Riley of Saluda; four sisters, Lena R. Dawkins of Leesville, Lucy Crouch of Saluda and Sue Mills and Shelby Siebert, both of Prosperity; and five grandchildren.
Services were Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Gilbert, with burial in the new church cemetery on Priceville Road.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home was in charge.
