Viola Crouch

GREENWOOD — Viola Eller Crouch, 93, of 117 Morrow Road, widow of the Rev. Joseph B. Crouch, passed away Aug. 7, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wilkes County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late James Monroe and Nora Lou Miller Eller. She was a former employee of Dan River Mills, Danville, Va. Formerly of Ayden, N.C., she had lived in Greenwood since 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ayden.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn C. Waters, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 7 Tuesday at Hodges Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Piephoff and Mr. Otto McDonald.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mountain View Cemetery, Danville. Visitation will be at Swicegood Funeral Home, Danville, from 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Hodges Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 99, Hodges, S.C. 29653.

J. Wayne Goff

IRMO — J. Wayne Goff, 67, husband of Evetta Jennings Goff, passed away Aug. 5, 2000.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late James Willard and Marjorie Matthews Goff. He was a retired employee of Holnam Inc. and a member of Broad River Masonic Lodge 377, Jamil Temple and the American Society of Testing Materials.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bridgette Goff of Irmo; a brother, Richard L. Goff of Lexington; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 today at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Entombment, with Masonic rites, will be in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Diabetes Association, or to the church building fund.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is in charge.

Lois H. Jackson

GREENWOOD — Lois H. Jackson, 78, of 112 Eagle Trace, widow of Hampton H. Jackson, passed away Aug. 7, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Walter and Eva Burkett Hair. She was a homemaker and a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Moore of Florence and Norma Patricia Stargel of Flomaton, Ala.; a son, Ernest Wayne Jackson of Greenwood; nine grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Savannah Jones

MONETTA — Savannah McCormick Jones, 80, of 402 Academy St., widow of Troy Jackson Jones, passed away Aug. 7, 2000.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late David and America Padgett McCormick. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the WMU and the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son, Harold Jones of Monetta; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Norma) McCarty of Monetta and Christine Byrd of Turrell, Ark.; two brothers, Virgil McCormick of Anderson and Dave McCormick of Monetta; two sisters, Helen Anderson of Ward and Inis Fulmer of Ridge Spring; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mark Collins. Burial will be in Ridge Spring Cemetery.
Pallbearers are deacons of the church.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Milton Shealy Funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Janie Lane

GREENWOOD — Janie Conner Hatcher Lane, 69, of 102 Rock Knoll Drive, 5-A, passed away Aug. 7, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Paul and Ella Hodges Hatcher. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Limestone College and a former teacher in Beaufort public schools. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.
Survivors include a son, Frank Paul of Greenwood; a daughter, Candi Paul Ward of Greenwood; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 Wednesday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, officiated by the Rev. Father Harold Morgan III. The speaker will be John Hughes.
Visitation is after the service in the Bishop’s Hall of the church.
The family is at the home.

WHITE ROCK — Elzie McCormick Sr., 59, of 1049 Windy Hill Road, husband of Onie Lynn Strawhorn McCormick, passed away Aug. 5, 2000.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late John F. and Annie Bell Goff McCormick. He was a truck driver for Martin Engineering Inc.
Survivors include his wife of White Rock; four sons, Elzie McCormick Jr. of Lexington and Steve McCormick, Russell McCormick and Mark McCormick, all of Batesburg-Leesville; two daughters, Miranda McCullough of Batesburg and Marie Hall of Gilbert; a brother, Leonard McCormick of Saluda; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 tonight at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Edward Tager.
Visitation is after the service.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, S.C. 29063.

LEESVILLE — Elberta Shealy Price, 78, widow of Harold A. Price, passed away Aug. 5, 2000.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late George Lester and Aurie Lee Shealy Shealy. She was a homemaker and member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Duane Price and Dennis Price, both of Leesville and Michael Price of Saluda; a daughter, Cheryl Werts of Saluda; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services were Sunday at Rehoboth United Methodist Church.

Estelle Prescott Setzler

EDGEFIELD — Estelle Quarles Prescott Setzler, 83, of 2472 Highway 23 West, wife of George Setzler, passed away Aug. 7, 2000, at University Hospital.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a retired merchant and a member of Red Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Marian Hammond of Colliers and Nancy Ruffino of Martinez, Ga.; two brothers, Broadus Quarles of Cornelia, Ga., and Lloyd Quarles of Greenwood; two sisters, Nell Shirley of McCormick and Lois Hudson of North Augusta; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Red Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Albert Atkinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Mrs. Marian Hammond, 102 Georgia Road, Edgefield.

GREENWOOD — Roy Winford Walker, 73, of 110 Benjamin St., husband of Willie Ruth Burton Walker, passed away Aug. 7, 2000, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Grady C. and Fairy Bell Free Walker. He was a retired painter and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Roy Wayne Walker of Brunswick, Ga., Donald Edward Walker of Ninety Six, Richard Daniel Walker of Bradley, James Ray Walker of Mississippi and Roger Dale Owens Sr. of Greenwood; a sister, Shirley Abernathy of Newbern, N.C.; four brothers, Jack Perry Walker of Ninety Six, James Marshall Walker of Dixon, Tenn., Fred Gerald Walker of Flat Rock, N.C., and Grady Eugene Walker of Saluda; 17 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Grady Lothridge.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Allen Brooks, David Walker, Steven Walker, Michael Griffin, Danny Attaway and Danny Ray Christian.
The family is at the home.
