Letha J. Rodgers

SALUDA — Letha Jones Rodgers, 80, of 235 Oliver Road, widow of Clark Rodgers, passed away Dec. 15, 2000, at Meadowbrook Terrace of Clemmons.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Willar Edwards Jones. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Patsy Cunningham of Concord, N.C., Annete McLaurin of Harrisburg, N.C., Helen Chapman of Falls Church, Va., Joann Tompkins of Seneca, and Kathy O’Grady of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a son, Richard Clark Rodgers of Moore, S.C.; a brother, William Mac Jones of Monetta; a sister, Carolyn Jones Steele of Gilbert; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 Monday at St. Williams Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Williams Catholic Church, Route 1, Box 152, Ward S.C., 29166.
Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.

John Turner

ABBEVILLE — John Leroy “J.L.” Turner, 86, of 614 Little Zion Road and Edgefield Nursing Home, widower of Cleora Wilson Turner, passed away Dec. 16, 2000, at Edgefield County Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, he was raised by his grandparents; the late Joe and Sis Turner. He was a former employee of Seaboard Railroad and a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Roy Lee Turner of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren, three raised in the home, Carrie Turner, Richard Turner and Steve Turner.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc. which is in charge.

Charles Marion Price

NINETY SIX — Charles Marion Price, 93, of 103 Lipscomb Avenue, widower of Irene Stevens Price, passed away Dec. 18, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Edward Judson and Lula Martin Price. He formerly owned and operated Star Fort Antiques in Ninety Six. Mr. Price formerly served as Mayor of Ninety Six, formerly served on City Council and also served as fire chief of Ninety Six. A member of First Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class of the Church, he was also a former Deacon and Sunday school teacher of the Church. He was a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 47.
Surviving are six sons, Paul Douglas Price of Saluda, Allen Judson Price of Abbeville, Thomas Marion Price, Charles Arthur Price, Daniel Aaron Price and Robert Sloan Price, all of Ninety Six; a daughter, Mrs. R. Donnie (Jane) Calhoun of Ninety Six; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Robby Price, Greg Price, Timmy Price, Teddy Price, Al Price, Ronnie Price, Todd Calhoun, Blake Price and Steve Price.
Visitation is in the church parlor from 2-3 Tuesday.
The family is at the home Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Price, 310 N. Church Street.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Mattie Lee Allen

CALHOUN FALLS — Mattie Lee Ashmore Allen, 55, of 605 Hampton St., wife of Robert Lee Allen, passed away Dec. 18, 2000, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Friendly Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Mildred C. Cockfield

ABBEVILLE — Mildred Celestial Ashley Cockfield, 81, of 93 Cockfield Road, wife of W.H. Cockfield, passed away Dec. 17, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Aiken and Fannie Mae McQuerns Ashley. She was a homemaker, a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, Abbeville, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was also active with the PTA and other activities in the Due West schools.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, W.H. Cockfield III of Greenwood, Barry Cockfield of Belton and Gary Cockfield of Rockingham, N.C.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. Howard H. Whitehurst. Burial will be in Upper Long Cane Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10.
Visitation is at the residence from 7-9 tonight.
Cox Funeral Home, Belton, is in charge.

Linnie Bruce Hawkins

GREENWOOD — Linnie Bruce Hawkins, 730 Oak Ave., passed away Dec. 14, 2000, at his home.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late W.C. and Bruth Hawkins.
Survivors include six sisters, Bruc Hawkins of Greenwood, Virginia Hawkins of Washington , D.C., and Clover Gallman, Elaine Maybin, Janice Lyles and Bertha Gallman, all of Newberry; and a brother, Henderson Hawkins of Prosperity.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Pratt Funeral Home, Newberry, with burial in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of a sister, Janice Hawkins Lyles, 48, Kookie Lane, Newberry.
F.B. Pratt and Son Funeral Home, Newberry, is in charge.

Thomas S. Leaphart

RIDGE SPRING — Thomas Shelton Leaphart, 75, of 1219 Keys Pond Road, passed away Dec. 15, 2000.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Creighton M. and Lucille Burgess Leaphart. He was a Navy veteran and an electrician.
Survivors include three sisters, Joyce Weeks of Aiken and Pauline Lewis and Merle Carroll, both of North Augusta.
Services will be at 1 today at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bob Steele. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.
Pallbearers are Joshua Weeks, Keith Weeks, Terrel Leaphart, Wayne Leaphart, Harold Dean and Carl Burgess.
The family is at the home of a sister, Merle Carroll.
Milton Shealy Funeral Home is in charge.

ANDERSON — Richard Grady Page, 42, of 804 Burts Court, husband of Susan McCoy Page, passed away Dec. 17, 2000.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Grady and Lillie Knox Page. He was a member of Donalds Baptist Church, a graduate of Erskine College, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a supervisor at Santens of America Inc. and an adjunct instructor at Forrest Junior College.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Nicholas McCoy Page of the home; his parents of Donalds; two sisters, Janice P. Fields of Belton and Brenda P. Cooley of Honea Path; and a brother, William K. Page of Belton.
Private services will be at Cox Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Barbara Hamilton. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.
Visitation is from 1-2 Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home.
Family members are at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to Forrest Junior College, Richard Grady Page Scholarship Fund, 601 E. River St., Anderson, S.C. 29624.

Ruth Hare Summer

COLUMBIA — Ruth Hare Summer, 84, wife of Robert “Pete” Lee Summer, passed away Dec. 16, 2000.
Born in Ridge Spring, she was a daughter of the late John Kelly and Emmialine Rhoden Hare. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of Columbia; a daughter, Marian Heustess of Columbia; a brother, Kelly Hare of Saluda; two sisters, Earline Edwards of Saluda and Inez Cromer of Columbia; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, with burial in Mill Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

GREENWOOD — Anne Steponitis Ward, 93, of Eden Gardens, widow of Dudley S. Ward, passed away Dec. 16, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
The family is at the home of Wilfred and Barbara Vaudreuil, 108 N. Cedar Drive in Cedar Lake.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

Marshall Ware

ABBEVILLE — Marshall T. Ware, 73, of 771 Sheepleg Road husband of Betty Ware, passed away Dec. 18, 2000, at his home.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, which is in charge.
