Louise Palmer
GREENWOOD Louise Steifle Palmer, 95, of 156 Cherokee Drive, formerly of Bradley, widow of Sam T. Palmer, passed away July 5, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late George and Madge Puckett Steifle. She graduated from Bradley School and attended Lander College. She was a member of Cedar Springs Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Madge) Parrish, with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Friday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Richard McWhite and Dr. Lloyd Melton. Burial will be in Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery near McCormick.
Pallbearers are John Parrish, Todd Parrish, Robbie Parrish, Andrew Tomlinson, Thomas Britt and Dale Lawson.
Honorary escorts are Smith Steifle, Henry Steifle, John Tom Bannister, Bill Walker, Irvin Ridlehoover, Edward Ferguson and Paul Bollman.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Jaqueline Lee Alfredson
MCCORMICK Jacqueline Lee Alfredson, 61, of 203 Shenandoah Dr., wife of Jack W. Alfredson, passed away July 2, 2000, at her home.
Born in Iowa, she was a daughter of Floyd Foster and the late Maxine Pat Foster. She was a member of McCormick United Methodist Church and volunteered at Helping Hands. She delivered Meals on Wheels and served as a First Responder.
Survivors include her husband; a sister, Constance Foster; a brother, Thomas Foster; three daughters, Perri Bartley, Patricia Alfredson and Judith Alfredson; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 today at McCormick United Methodist Church.

Alonzo Albert Carter
GREENWOOD Alonzo Albert Carter, 89, of 732 Oak Ave., widower of Jamie Robinson Carter, passed away July 8, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Union County, he was the son of the late Paul and Ellen Gilliam Carter. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a former chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the Deacon Board, a Sunday School Teacher, a Church Counselor, an advisor and assistant to the Pastor. He was a retired railroad employee with the Seaboard Coast Line. He was a life member of the NAACP, the Greenwood County Planning Board, South Carolina Planning Commission, and the Greenwood Community Relations Committee. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge #37, where he served as Worshipful Master for 19 years. He was also a member of Anderson Consistory #239 AZZAM Shrine #84, where he served as Illustus Potentate for four years, and secretary and treasurer for six years; a member of Harmony Chapter, Order of Easter Star #282 where he served as Worthy Patron for 17 years. He received the Past Potentate Degree from the Imperial Council Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of Mystic Shrine in 1966, and the 33rd and last Degree from the U.S. Supreme Council in 1968.
Survivors include two sons, Albert C. Carter of Washington , D.C. and Bobby U. Carter of Landover, M.D.; a daughter, Mary Lois Byrd of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister Estelle Rice of Jamaica, N.Y; 29 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.

Reba Long
HONEA PATH Reba Finley Long, 84, of 205 Orr St., widow of Riley Long, passed away July 8, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Linconton County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Ludd and Amie Bowick Finley. She was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church and was retired from Chiquola Mfg. Co.
Survivors include four sons, Roy Long of Honea Path, J.B. Long of McCormick, Riley Long Jr. and Billy Ray Long, both of Hickory Tavern; two daughters, Becky Kitchens of Augusta, Ga. and Margaret McCuen of Honea Path; a brother, J.B. Finley of Salisbury, N.C.; a sister, Betty Hazelton of Belton; a half-brother, T.L. Finley of Anderson; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home, conducted by Revs. David Tyler and Darrell Rooks. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.
Visitation is from 7-9 today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her son, Roy Long, 172 Brock Circle, Honea Path.

Willene Rochester
NINETY SIX Frances Willene Gilreath Rochester, 79, of 121 Park St., wife of Milton R. Rochester, passed away July 7, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Willie O.K. and Edith Hughey Gilreath. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church, Adult 1 Ladies 2 Sunday School Class and a former member of the Church Choir. She was retired from Greenwood Mills.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Bonnie Crowe and Mrs. Bill Kathy Hazel, both of Greenwood; four brothers, John Milford Gilreath of Plymouth, N.C., Billie Dee Gilreath of Beaufort, Douglas Q. Gilreath of Greenwood and Charles Hughey Gilreath of Arizona; two sisters, Edith Evelyn Edmunds of Greenwood and Patricia Jean Gilreath of Pawleys Island; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 Monday at West Side Baptist Church conducted by Revs. Hal Lane and High Fortson. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 Monday.
Pallbearers are Jay Thompson, Joey Hughes, Tommy Edmunds, Weldon Reed, Bob Dean, Royce McDowell, Doug Brock and Vernon Lathren.

CLINTON Margaret Brazill Seay, 72, of 315 North Sloan St., husband of Melvin Plug Seay, passed away July 7, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Joanna, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lillie Vanderford Brazill. She was retired from Clinton Mills and was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Melvin Randy Randall Seay of the home and Maxie Allen Seay of Clinton; a daughter, Teresa Seay Harris of Clinton; a brother, Clyde Brazill of Clinton; three sisters, Polly Dunaway, Mildred Rhodes and Barbara Brazill, all of Clinton; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 4:00 Monday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will be in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.

JUNCTION CITY, KAN. Lillie M. Starks, 85, widow of Columbus Starks Sr., passed away July 5, 2000, in Junction City.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Ellis Wicks and Mary Cunningham Wicks.
Survivors include a stepson, Leonard L. Starks of Greenville; two daughters, Ida May S. Alexander and Sarah S. Looper, both of Greenville; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

David Stout
GREENWOOD David Walter Stout, 34, of 101 Haygood St, passed away July 7, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in St. Petersburg, Fla., he was a son of Carolyn Todd and the late Harvey Ronald Stout. He was a corrections officer at McCormick Correctional Institute.
Survivors include his mother of Greenwood; a son, Greg Stout of Greenwood; three sisters, LuAnne Stout of Brooksville, Fla., Sharon Stout of Kissimmee, Fla. and Sandra Groves of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Edwin Stout of Brooksville, Fla.; and his grandmother, Lucille Todd of Calhoun Falls.
Services will be at 2 Monday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Raymond Todd. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Lawrence Ray Wilkerson
WHITMIRE Lawrence Ray Wilkerson, 77, of 931 Central Ave., widower of Joyce Finney Wilkerson, passed away July 8, 2000, in Newberry.
Born in Whitmire, he was the son of the late Tom and Rachael B. Wilkerson. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was retired from the National Guard. He was also retired from West Point Stevens in Whitmire.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Folk of Newberry and Tammy McHale of Kingswood, Texas ; two brothers, Kenneth Wilkerson and Walter Wilkerson, both of Whitmire; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 Monday at Whitmire Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 today at Gray Funeral Home.
