GREER — Guy Robert “Pat” Patton, 65, of 121 Hammond Ave., husband of Susan Howard “Betty” Patton, passed away May 16, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Crawford N. and Ethel Hollingsworth Patton. He was a retired employee of Defender Industries and a member of Calvary Road Independent Baptist Church. He was a former member of Bailey Masonic Lodge of Greer.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Connie P. Godfrey of Gray Court and Martha P. Godfrey and Linda P. Hammett, both of Greer; a son, Bobby E. Patton of Wellford; three sisters, Faye Netherton of Lyman, Betty Jones of Greer and Margaret Dixon of Wellford; a brother, Bud Patton of Waterloo; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Thursday at the Wood Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Davis and the Rev. Billy Jolley. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the mortuary.
The family is at the home.

Geneva G. Pridmore

GREENWOOD — Geneva Gaines Pridmore, 76, of 202 Oaklane Drive, wife of Wilburn A. “W.A.” Pridmore Jr., passed away May 17, 2000, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Fred and Marie Rodgers Gaines. She was a retired medical secretary, working with Self Memorial Hospital and Wesley Commons. She was a member of Star Fort Ladies Golf Association and Woodfields Baptist Church, where she was a nursery worker and a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Freda P. Moore of Spartanburg; a sister, Sybil Mlekush of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Rodgers Gaines of Greenville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodfields Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Robert Miller. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Steve Pridmore, James Pridmore, Brandon Moore, Daniel Brownlee, Stan Gaines and Keith Gaines.
Honorary escorts are members of the Ladies Sunday School Class of the church.
Visitation is from 7-9 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Mary D. Childs

GREENVILLE — Mary Davis Childs, 79, formerly of Farmington Road, widow of Richard Harmon Childs, passed away May 15, 2000, in Huntsville, Ala.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Paul C. and Almer Blanchett Davis. She retired as an admissions specialist at Greenville Memorial Hospital and had worked at the Chamber of Commerce in Greer. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat C. Passmore of Huntsville; a brother, Charles Davis of Quitman, Miss.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Remembrance Chapel.
Visitation is from 9-9:45 Friday at the chapel.

'Steve Dobbs'

GREENWOOD — Services for Eddie “Steve” Dobbs, owner and operator of Dobbs Construction, will be at 2 Saturday at Willow Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. E.L. Cain will officiate, with the Rev. George C. Patterson presiding. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are Lenwood Ramsey, Keith Harrison, Clarence Morton, Nathaniel Patterson, George Adams and Bobby Turner.
Flower bearers are Patricia Norman, Thelma Spearman, Aretha Tompkins, Florence Gilchrist, Daisy Patterson and Annette Sussewell.
Honorary escorts are Charles Christopher, David Belcher and Benjamin Terry.
The family is at the home, 304 Davis Ave., Greenwood.

'Romie' Forrest

SALUDA — Harry Jerome “Romie” Forrest, 86, of 512 Bonham Road, husband of Lucille Coleman Forrest, passed away May 16, 2000, at his home.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Forrest Sr. and Lyda Crawford Forrest. He was a World War II veteran, a retiree of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, H.J. “Jerry” Forrest Jr. of Silverstreet; a daughter, Dianne Forrest of Saluda; a brother, James B. Forrest of Columbia; two sisters, Phoebe F. Duffie of Saluda and Peggy F. Raines of North Charleston; and a grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ramey Funeral Home, with burial in Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 102 Butler Ave., Saluda, S.C. 29138.

Lawrence G. Paysinger

WEST NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lawrence Gilbert Paysinger, 63, husband of Mary Marie Paysinger, passed away May 16, 2000.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was a son of the late Fred Calvin and Margaret Geneva Thames Paysinger. He was employed by Metro Juvenile Court and had served in the Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tina Blackmon and Teresa Ann Swink, both of Greenwood, S.C.; a son, Lawrence Gilbert “Larry” Paysinger Jr. of Laurens, S.C.; two stepsons, Ronnie Crutcher of Bon Aqua and Ricky Crutcher of Primm Springs; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at West Harpeth Funeral Home, with burial in Harpeth Mills Memory Gardens in Nashville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m-9 p.m. today.

Betty Rogers

MAULDIN — Betty Jones Cox Rogers, 71, of 125 Hyde Circle, wife of C. Wayne Rogers, passed away May 17, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Clifton E. and Elma Garrett Jones. She retired from Her Majesty in Mauldin. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mauldin, where she was a Sunday school teacher and worked in the children’s department for more than 40 years. She was an honorary member of the Dot Creel Sunday School Class. She was twice married, first to the late Milton L. Cox.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Tim (Sherry C.) Cox of Simpsonville; two stepdaughters, Kathryn R. Massey and Janet R. Phillips, both of Simpsonville; a stepson, David W. Rogers of Greenville; a sister, Mary Ann Byars of Greenville; four brothers, Carl S. Jones and Billy W. Jones, both of Mauldin, Ed Jones of Cross Hill and the Rev. Johnny E. Jones of Montgomery, Ala.; two grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Friday at First Baptist Church of Mauldin, with burial in Graceland East Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Services for DesDemonia “Dessie” Cartledge will be at 2:30 Sunday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Greenwood, S.C., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Willie S. Harrison, assisted by the Rev. Matthews Graves. Burial will be in Old Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Epworth.
Pallbearers are L.C. Martin Jr., Travis Rapp, James Holloway, Maurice Thompson and Richard Martin.
Flower bearers are great-granddaughters.
Visitation is from 6-7 Saturday at Robinson and Son Mortuary.

Guy G. Causey

DILLON — Guy Garland Causey, 80, passed away May 17, 2000, at his home.
Born in Dillon County, he was a son of the late Frank and Daisy Vaught Causey. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a mechanic for Dixiana for 29 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Guy Nell Ward of Johnston; a sister, Dorothy Caulder of Dillon; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 today in Riverside Cemetery.

Kathleen M. Coker

WILLIAMSTON — Kathleen McAlister Coker, 81, of 14 Durham Drive, wife of John Haynie Coker, passed away May 18, 2000, at her home.
Born in Hodges, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Eugene and Lillie Woodson McAlister. She was a retiree of Abney Mill and a member of Williamston First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a sister, Ruby Shepherd of Anderson; and a nephew and two nieces reared in the home, Tim Shepherd and Vicki Lewis, both of Williamston and April Rhodes of Columbia.
Services will be at 3 Saturday at Cox Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Brad Barden. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories, Belton.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
