RIDGE SPRING — Larry Howard, 40, passed away May 13, 2000.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of Nathan Howard and Dora Brash.
Survivors include his parents; stepfather, Berty Brash of Jamaica, N.Y.; stepmother, Carolyn Howard; a son, Akeem Burton of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; three brothers, Rickey Howard of Hinesville, N.Y., Shakim Brash of San Diego and Nikiki Brash of Jamaica; and a sister, Jacqueline Brash of Jamaica.
Services will be at 2 Saturday at Ridge Hill Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

GREENWOOD — Timothy Scott Hurd, 34, of 102 Rock Knoll Drive, Unit 2-B, passed away in Greenwood.
Born in Savannah, Ga., he was a son of Patricia Hammond Hunter and James F. Hurd and a stepson of Jerry Hunter. He was a manager trainee for McDonalds and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather of the home; his father of Scottsdale, Ariz., a daughter, Madison Hurd of Scottsdale; a brother, Christopher “Chris” Hurd of Waleska, Ga.; and maternal grandmother, Ruby Hammond of Simpsonville.
Services will be at 2 Saturday at The Wood Mortuary, Greer, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the mortuary.

Richard J. Queener
NEWBERRY — Richard James Queener, 64, of 2042 Piedmont St., passed away May 18, 2000, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Born in Neosho, Mo., he was a son of Ethel M. Queener and the late William Henry Queener. He was a Korean War Army veteran, a retired employee of C.L. Johnson and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother of Newberry; a daughter, Sharron Queener of Neosho; and a sister, Patricia Malcom of Silverstreet.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Newberry Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Robert E. McCollum.

Doris B. Robinson
DONALDS — Doris Bethena Robinson, 68, of 20 Robinson Lane, wife of the Rev. James Robinson, passed away May 18, 2000, at her home.
Born in Hodges, she was a daughter of the late Robert DeWitt and Jessie McKnight Smith. She was a member of Mount Olive AME Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Linda Edwards of Belton and Debbie Brownlee of Anderson; three sons, Stanley Robinson of Atlanta, Douglas Robinson of Bastrop, Texas and the Rev. Darryl Robinson of Decatur, Ga.; two sisters, Suetta Ward of Due West and Alice Birchmore of Cincinnati; a brother, Roy Smith of Hodges; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

SPARTANBURG — Joseph “Clyde” Simmons, 76, of 105 Fernbrook Circle, husband of Laura Speed Simmons, passed away May 18, 2000, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.
Marie S. Smith
LAURENS — Marie Smallwood Smith, 66, of 428 Academy St., passed away May 18, 2000, at the home of her son.
Born in Jefferson, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Charlie H. and Ruby Lockman Smallwood.
Survivors include a son, Randy Godfrey of Waterloo; two brothers, Charles W. Smallwood of Waterloo and Denver Smallwood of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Lanell Brown of Laurens; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kennedy Mortuary, with entombment in Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at the mortuary.

Mary Symmes
INDIANAPOLIS — Mary E. Blake Symmes, 81, formerly of Indianapolis, widow of James M. Symmes Jr., passed away May 14, 2000, in Greensburg, Ind.
She retired from Marsh Supermarket. She was twice married, first to the late Earl Myers.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Myers of Indianapolis and Gary Symmes of Noblenville, Ind.; a stepson, James Symmes Jr. of Greenwood, S.C.; two sisters, Kathleen Wood and Dorothy Hudson, both of Indianapolis; two brothers, Chester Blake and Gerry Blake, both if Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services were Wednesday in Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis.

ANDERSON — Ethel Finley Wilson, 79, widow of David G. Wilson, passed away May 18, 2000, at National Healthcare.
Survivors include a son, David R. Wilson of Augusta; a daughter, Lesa Wilson Fischer of Mill Creek, Wash.; a brother, Robert L. Finley of Greenville; three sisters, Marguerite Cartledge of Abbeville, Eva Young of Clemson and Virginia Babb of Greenville; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial services will be at 11 at McDougald Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Alice C. Breeden
SALUDA — Alice C. Breeden, 92, widow of Howard Breeden, passed away April 30, 2000, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Joshua and Adelia Culbreath. She was a member of Branch Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the senior choir and the Willing Workers. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Branch Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie J. Key. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 Wednesday at Logan Funeral Home.

Mary Fleming Brown
MARION — Mary Fleming Brown, 82, of Penderboro Road, widow of D.B. Brown Jr., passed away April 21, 2000, at Marion County Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Henry Quincy and Mattie Bell Hamilton Fleming. She retired from J.P. Stevens Co. in 1981, after 24 years of service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Laurinburg.
Survivors include a son, Richard Brown of Raeford; two daughters, Ann B. Chavis of Surfside Beach and Brenda Foxworth of Marion; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services were held at First United Methodist Church of Laurinburg, conducted by the Rev. Frank Garrison. Burial was in Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet.

Bill Coleman
BELTON — Charles William “Bill” Coleman Jr., 50, of 222 Forest Lane, passed away April 30, 2000, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Audrey Stewart Coleman and the late Charles William Coleman. He was a graduate of Mars Hill College and a management employee in the textile industry. He was a member of Belton Presbyterian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and an ordained elder.
Survivors include his mother of the home and an aunt of the home, Blanche Stewart.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Belton Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Will Nickles and Dr. John LeHeup. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories. Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Cox Funeral Home.
