Patricia A. Sigmon

SUMTER — Patricia Ann Watkins Sigmon, wife of Ronnie G. Sigmon, passed away May 4, 2000 at Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.
Born in LuRay, Va., she was a daughter of Virginia Yawn Watkins and the late Ernest A. Watkins Sr. She was the owner of Sig’s Restaurant, Highway 441, for nine years and a former employee of Holiday Inn and Sunset Country Club of Sumter. She was a member of Shaw Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother; her husband of Sumter; four sons, Patrick Cornell of Sumter, Brad Sigmon of Greenville, Mike Sigmon and Davey Sigmon, both of Anderson; four daughters, Annette Ritchie of Sumter, Deborah Sigmon-Redding of Memphis, Tenn., Starlette Coffey of Hodges and Kelley Sigmon McDonald of Greenwood; a brother, Eddie Yawn of Fort Campbell, Ky.; a sister, Cindy Haneck of Dalzell and 16 grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Shaw Heights Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Victor Cheek, Walter Phillips and Michael Bowen. Burial will be in The Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are James Compton, Pete Whitaker, Terry Racer, Dean Ray, Martin Haneck and James Amerson.
Honorary pallbearers are supervisors and employees of Lee Correction.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Bullock Funeral Home, Wilson Hall Road.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Shaw Heights Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stone Mark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210.

Sammy Barker

CLINTON — Sammy Andrew Barker, 38, of Route 1, Milam Road, passed away May 5, 2000. Born in Clinton, he was a son of Judy and Sam Nelson and the late Walter Sam Barker. Survivors include his wife, Justine Barker of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a son, Brandon Barker; two daughters, Kimberly Barker of Clinton and Brandi Barker of Ormond Beach; three brothers, Mickey Barker of Carlsbad, N.M., Joey Barker of Honea Path and Charles Barker of Clinton; two sisters, Diana Garber of St. Augustine, Fla. and Debra Major of Easley. Services were held Sunday at Gray Funeral Home. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery. Gray Funeral Home is in charge.

Alice Faye Edgins

SALUDA — Graveside services for Alice Faye Edgins, 57, who passed away May 5, 2000, will be at 3 today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the home, Route 5, Saluda. Palmer Funeral Home is in charge.

Randall Gray

ABBEVILLE — James Randall Gray, 58, of 102 Miller St., passed away May 7, 2000, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital. Born in Abbeville, he was a son of Margaret McKee Gray and the late James Wallace Gray. He was a retired safety director with Fovil Industries. He was a former member of the Abbeville Rescue Squad and a member of Mission Baptist Church, where he was a former outreach minister of the church. He was a member of the Son’s of the Confederacy, where he was a former chaplain. Survivors include his mother of the home, Margaret McKee Gray; a son, Paul ‘Skip’ Gray of Abbeville; three brothers, Sanford W. Gray of Abbeville, Terry A. Gray of Anderson and Kenneth M. Gray of Mansfield, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 11 Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home and conducted by Rev. Tony Beauford. Burial will be in Long Cane Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 Tuesday. The family is at the home. Harris Funeral Home is in charge.

Larry Griffin

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Larry Griffin, 44, formerly of Greenwood, passed away May 6, 2000. Born in Greenwood, he was the son of Marion Martin Griffin and the late John Henry Griffin Jr. Survivors include his mother of Greenwood, a daughter, LaShenda Griffin of Buffalo; a sister, Loretta G. Strong; five brothers, Willie, John Anthony, Erwin, Danny and Percy Griffin, all of Buffalo. Services are incomplete, but will be held in Buffalo. Robinson & Son Mortuary is in charge.

Lucile Phillips

WARE SHOALS — Lucile (Lucy) Phillips, 60, of 21 Jo Qulla Road, wife of Fred L. Vinson, passed away May 6, 2000, at her home. Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of Marion Sis Gambrell Prince of Abbeville and the late William Bill Lonzo Prince. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Winona Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Cathy Smith of Donalds; three brothers, Clayton, Dan and Joe Prince, all of Donalds; a sister, Mrs. J.E. Sudie Cooper of Ware Shoals; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 3 Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home and conducted by the Rev. James Davenport. Burial will be in Winona Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:30-3 Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family is at the home and at the home of her daughter, Cathy Smith, 731 Willie Kay Road. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge.

Dr. John Riley

GREENWOOD — Dr. John Riley, 66, passed away May 6, 2000. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lelia Pace Riley. He was a graduate of Christ Episcopal School for Boys, Arden, N.C., the University of South Carolina and the Medical College of S.C., Charleston. Riley practiced as a family physician throughout South Carolina and recently retired from Fountain Inn Family Practice. He was a member of the S.C. Medical Association and a veteran of the Air Force Medical Corps. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Columbia. Survivors include three daughters, Anne Riley Parnell of Gilbert, Harriett Riley McGill of Columbia and Lee Riley Hammond of Lugoff; two sisters, Harriett R. Williams of Bluffton and Ann R. Brown of Columbia; and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 11 Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Whitten Center Parents Club, Clinton. Dunbar Funeral Home, Columbia, is in charge.

GREENWOOD — Services for Sandra Terry, 52, of Tifton, Ga., who passed away May 5, 2000, will be at 10 Tuesday at the chapel of Robinson & Son Funeral Home. The family is at the home of a daughter, Brenda White, 203 Charles Road, Greenwood. Robinson & Son Funeral Home is in charge.

Dr. Ben Kinard III

GREENWOOD — Henry Bennett “Ben” Kinard III, M.D., 52, of 127 E. Cambridge Ave., husband of Harriett Howard Kinard, passed away Nov. 9, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Dr. H. Bennett Jr. and Bettye Blaylock Kinard. A 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School, he attended Emory University and graduated from Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina. He did his internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, and received a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1977 and the American Board of Gastroenterology in 1979. He was a partner in Digestive Disease Group, Greenwood, and was serving as vice chairman of the Board of Trustees at Self Memorial Hospital, where he was former president of the medical staff. He was a member and past president of Greenwood County Medical Society, a member of South Carolina Medical Association, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Physicians and the AOA Medical Honor Society. He was on the Board of Directors of The County Bank, was a member and former director of Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and former chairman of Cambridge Academy Board of Directors. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his parents of Greenwood; three sons, Henry Bennett Kinard IV of Paris, France, Howard Robert Kinard and Edward Wilson Kinard, both of Greenwood; a brother, Dr. Harry W. Kinard of Spartanburg; and a sister, Lucile K. Williamson of Greenville.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Main Street United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Larry Jenkins. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Mickey Young, Thornwell Dunlap III, John Heydel, John Long, Lyn Grimes and Stephen Davis.
Honorary escorts are staff members of Digestive Disease Group and the medical staff of Self Memorial Hospital.
Visitation is from 6-8 Saturday at the home on Cambridge Avenue.

George M. McGee

WARD — George Madison McGee, 86, of Route 1, husband of Lizzie Mae Rodgers McGee, passed away Nov. 8, 2000, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Lewis A. and Leila Rhoden McGee. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Linda Faye Stevens of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Roy McGee of Johnston; two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a step-great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 Saturday at St. Williams Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A Christian Wake service will be at 7 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home, Saluda, with visitation until 9.
Memorials may be made to St. Williams Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, Route 1, Ward, S.C. 29166.

David A. Moody

PELZER — David Alonzo Moody, 86, of 28 Goodrich St., husband of Mary Josephine Crymes Moody, passed away Nov. 9, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late C.M. and Mary Scott Moody. He was a former member of Pelzer Lions Club and retired from Kendall Co. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Joy Makers and volunteer ministry. He was also a former deacon, department secretary and choir member.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Jim Moody and Robert Moody, both of Williamston and LaFoy Moody of Greenwood; a daughter, Faye Bagwell of Belton; 14 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Donald Padgett, Gene Neely and Ted Gaines. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Gray Mortuary.
The family is at the home.

Herbie Owsley

WARE SHOALS — Lester Herbert “Herbie” Owsley, 83, of 23 Circle St., widower of Corrine Brock Owsley, passed away Nov. 9, 2000, at The Maples of Honea Path.
Born in Lincoln, Mo., he was a son of the late Joseph Marion and Bertha Mae Pyle Owsley. He was twice married, first to the late Mary Ruth Davis Owsley. He was a member of Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church, past president of Ware Shoals Woodmen of the World No. 224 and a retired employee of Riegel Textile Corp.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Irma Williams of Kailua, Hawaii; a brother, Olin Owsley of California; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Mark Kennedy and the Rev. Randy Fleming. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Visitation is from 7-9 Saturday at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Tom Coile Russell

COMER, Ga. — Tom Coile Russell, 71, of 616 Cooper Road, passed away Nov. 8, 2000.
Born in Madison County, he was a son of the late John James and Essie Lee Cooper Russell. He was an Army veteran and a retired farmer and construction worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Russell of Comer; a son, Steve Russell of Watkinsville; a sister, Mozelle Wells of Elberton; and a brother, John Russell of Comer.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at New Hope Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Coile and the Rev. Douglas Hammond. Burial was in Paoli Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Butch Russell, Preston Russell, Tony Russell, Jody Russell, Roy Russell and Huelin Russell.
The family is at the home.

Dianne M. Sullivan

EASLEY — Dianne Martin Long Sullivan, 31, of 101-D Stoney Creek Court, wife of Terry Sullivan, passed away Nov. 8, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband; her mother and stepfather, Brenda and Paul Bowie of Liberty; her father and stepmother, Jimmy and Joyce Long of Antreville; a son, Bobby Ray Walker Jr. of Ware Shoals; a daughter, Courtney Deann Walker of Ware Shoals; a stepdaughter, Shantae Sullivan of Ware Shoals; twin sister, Donna Martin Rich of Liberty; a sister, Rhonda Woods of Liberty; two stepsisters, Mary Nell Tysinger of Antreville and Pam Bowie of Easley; two stepbrothers, Brad Bowie of Easley and Joseph Tysinger of Antreville; and maternal grandmother, Ernestine Crenshaw Stone of Pickens.
Private family graveside services will be today.
Family members are at their respective homes.
