Billy M. Tollison

LAURENS — Billy “Bill” Melton Tollison, 68, of 783 Highway 252, husband of Mary Emma Bolt Tollison, passed away Oct. 8, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Jesse Steven and Verina Melton Tollison. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a retired maintenance foreman with Monsanto, a farmer and a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Sue Ross of Saluda; four sons, Jeff Tollison of Simpsonville and Paul Tollison, Patrick Tollison and Ken Tollison, all of Laurens; three brothers, Ben Tollison of Winona Lake, Ind., John Tollison of Greenwood and David Tollison of Hickory Tavern; two sisters, Alice Nell Davidson of Duluth, Ga., and Callie Norris of Anderson; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tony Crouch and the Rev. Jack Reid. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 499 Chestnut Ridge Road, Laurens, S.C. 29360.
Kennedy Mortuary is in charge.

Betty D. Antley

GREENWOOD — Betty Davis Antley, 76, of 212 Autumn Trace, widow of James Ashton Antley Jr., passed away Oct. 10, 2000, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia.
The family is at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ruple (Billie) Harley Sr., 137 Gatewood Drive, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Willie Joe Ellis

SALUDA — Willie Joe “Foot” Ellis, 66, of 118 East End Drive, husband of Isabell Robinson Ellis, passed away Oct. 8, 2000, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of Mary Lee Jones Ellis Chappells and the late Joe Ellis. He was a member of Lockhart Baptist Church and a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Saluda; stepmother, Allean Ellis of Augusta, Ga.; a son, Charlie Ellis of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Lizzie Dozier of Saluda; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Thursday at Lockhart Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Raymond Adams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers and flower bearers will be friends of the family.
The family is at the home.
Butler and Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Dorothy Mae James

LAURENS — Dorothy Mae James, 57, passed away Oct. 9, 2000, at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late R.C. Triplin and Georgia Lue Holloway Culbreath. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Vivian Brown of Saluda, Martha James of Bamberg and Patricia James of Columbia; four sons, Roger James of Virginia, Walter Culbreath and Darnell Culbreath, both of Johnston and Michael James of Ridgeville; two sisters, Gladys Padgett of Saluda and Eva Sue Hill of Charlotte, N.C.; four brothers, Ben Culbreath of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jimmy L. Culbreath of Maryland, James Culbreath of Florida and Robert Etheredge of Saluda; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are nephews and nieces.
The family is at the home of a sister, Gladys Padgett, 113 East End Drive, Saluda.
Services will be announced by Butler and Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, which is in charge.

Lillian Mosley

GREENWOOD — Lillian Mosley, 80, of 105 Maple Court, widow of David Mosley, passed away Oct. 6, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Randell and Viola Perrin. She was a member of Old Field Bethel AME Church. She was also a member of McKeller Farms Community Club, Mt. Pisgah Chapter No. 418 OES and a retiree of Connie Maxwell Children Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Bettye Mosley Cash of New York and Linda Elaine Good of Greenwood; a son, Joe Lewis Perrin Williams of S.C.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Old Field Bethel AME Church, conducted by the Rev. Paul Wharton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers will be Mt. Pisgah Lodge No. 419.
Flower bearers will be Mt. Pisgah Chapter No. 418 OES.
Honorary escorts will be the McKellar Farms Community Club.
Visitation will be at the home, 105 Maple Court.

William M. Reed

NINETY SIX — William Mack Reed, 87, of 119 Park St., husband of Wilma Ola Benfield Reed, passed away Oct. 10, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hartwell, Ga., he was a son of the late Ira D. and Emma Avery Reed. He retired from Parke-Davis in 1978 and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Weldon Reed of the home and Ralph Reed of Greenwood; two daughters, Flora “Flo” Brown Rogers of Greenwood and Agnes George of Lexington, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Looney of Anderson and Jessie Cole of Laurens; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Charles Owens.
Visitation is from 2-3 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 95 Saluda St., Ninety Six, SC 29666.

Tom Rodgers

GREENWOOD — Thomas Stevens “Tom” Rodgers, 88, of 117 Boreitta Drive, husband of Elsie Harling Rodgers, passed away Oct. 10, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Visitation is from 6-8 Thursday evening at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Bowling, 121 Boreitta Drive.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Evelyn Wells Alberson

MAULDIN — Evelyn Wells Alberson, 62, of 105 Old Keith Court, passed away Oct. 16, 2000.
Born in Travelers Rest, she was a daughter of Ruth Poole Wells and the late Rev. Ralph E. Wells. She was a member of Truth Missionary Baptist Church, an employee of Bi-Lo Inc., Mauldin, and a former employee of Her Majesty, Mauldin and Oxford Industries, Greenwood. She lived on Lake Greenwood in Waterloo for many years.
Survivors include her mother; a son, Keith Alberson of Fountain Inn; two brothers, Arnold Wells and Leon Wells; a sister, Deloris Frazier; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Sammy Kay and the Rev. Sammy Kay Jr. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6:30-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Family members are at their respective homes and at the home of Keith and Beverly Alberson, 5 Treaty Point Way, Fountain Inn.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, S.C. 29605.

Billy Balchin

GREENWOOD — George W. “Billy” Balchin, 65, of G-2, Georgetown Apartments, widower of Ethel Hoiska Balchin, passed away Oct. 15, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Elberton, Ga., he was a son of Vera Fleming Balchin and the late James E. Balchin. He retired from the Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. He had worked in the produce departments of Bi-Lo, Food Max and Wal-Mart. He was a member of Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include his mother of Greenwood; two sons, Gregory Balchin of Alexandria, Va., and Jeff Balchin of Greenwood; and a brother, James Clyde Balchin of Greenwood.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. James Tollison. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his mother, Vera Balchin, 301 Draper St.

Jim Brock

ABBEVILLE — Jim Brock, 85, widower of Elease Nelson Brock, passed away Sept. 29, 2000, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Lewis and Edna Brock. He was a member of Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Singer Sewing Machine Co.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Brock of Ware Shoals and George Brock of Abbeville; a sister, Mallie Brock of Honea Path; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Monday at Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Revs. Billy Pinson, Ira Crocker and Johnny Phillips. Burial will be in Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home, Ware Shoals.
The family is at the home of George and Wanda Brock, 355 Bell Road, Abbeville.
