Annie R. Bartley

SALUDA — Annie Myrtle Rowe Bartley, 80, of 402 The Heights Third Ave., widow of Cecil Westly Bartley, passed away Sept. 24, 2000, at her home.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Boyd and Katie Hawkins Rowe. A retired textile employee, she was the oldest charter member, home mission director and oldest Mother of Emanuel Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Ann Bartley-Coats of Waterloo; four sons, Edwin Cecil “E.C.” Bartley, Jerry Bartley, Freddie Bartley and Jimmy Ray “Jim” Bartley, all of Saluda; a brother, Horace Edwin Rowe of Fallbrook, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Lowe of Saluda; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Emanuel Church, conducted by the Rev. Burton Campbell. Burial will be in Travis Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Scott Bartley, Heath Bartley, Eddie Bartley, Corey Bartley, William Bartley, Sean Bartley and Jason Bartley.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Lola Jenkins

DONALDS — Lola Martin Jenkins, 85, of 65 McKiver Road, passed away Sept. 20, 2000, at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Tecora Martin Vines. She was a former private duty nurse.
Survivors include five daughters, Birdie M. Jones of Donalds, Nannie L. McElveen of Baltimore, Rebecca McKiver of Columbia, Essie Brown of McCormick and Bernice Jenkins of the home; two sons, John W. Jenkins of Irving, Texas and Charles E. Jenkins of Baltimore; a sister, Elizabeth Posely of Greenville; a brother, Ralph Martin of Greenville; 33 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 Wednesday at Watkins Garrett and Woods Mortuary, with burial in Pinedale Memorial Park.

GREENWOOD — Patricia Ann Rylee Griffin, 57, of 229 Jenkins Springs Road, wife of Fred Griffin, passed away Aug. 1, 2001, at her home.
Born in England, she was a daughter of Grace Young Rylee and the late Thomas Rylee. She was a bookkeeper for Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Greenwood.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother of Fitzgerald, Ga.; a son, Sam Griffin of Greenwood; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Penny) Humbertson and Peggy Turner, both of Greenwood; a sister, Pam Bateman of Franklin, Tenn.; three brothers, Rick Rylee of Korea, Terri Rylee of Atlanta and David Rylee of Fitzgerald; and four grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 Friday at Harley Funeral Home by the Rev. Stephen Owens. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Freddie Wideman, John Witt, Roland MacInville, Glen Wideman, Ray Witt and Ralph Reed.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Emma Lou Hubbard
GREENWOOD — Emma Lou Johnson Hubbard, 70, of 103 Belcourt Drive in Belle Meade, passed away July 31, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Millen, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Ben and Mary Lou Patterson Johnson. She retired as manager of Quality Control and Regulatory Affairs with Capsugel. A member of South Main Street Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Ruby Adams Sunday School Class, the Barbara Moseley Missionary Circle and the Pilot Club.
Survivors include a son, Hal Hubbard of Columbia, and two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 7 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home by the Revs. Dave Patterson, Richard McWhite and David Corbitt.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Lane Family Cemetery, Millen.
Pallbearers are Bob Templeton, Fred Teeter, Hamp Warner, Bubba Culbertson, Randy Dougherty, Sonny Patterson and David Fernandez.
Honorary escorts are members of the Pilot Club, the Ruby Adams Sunday School Class and the Barbara Moseley Missionary Circle and the deacons of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 5:30-7 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Bill Melstrom
GREENWOOD - W. R. 'Bill' Melstrom, 73, husband of J. A. Melstrom, passed away July 31, 2001 at his home.
Born in Edison, KS, June 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Edward C. and Ethna Ella Solomon Melstrom. He was a grad-uate of Finley Engineering College in Kansas City, MO where he received a B.S. Degree in Construc-tion Engineering. He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II, and was retired as Director of Cartography and Geographic Information Systems of the US Government Soil and Conservation Services.
Mr. Melstrom was a Registered Auction-eer and a member of the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors. He received his diploma from the National Institute of Real Estate. He was a Commander of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 14-2 in Omaha and was recognized for many of his contributions. Mr. Melstrom was heavily valued in Boy Scouts and has been recognized many times for his contributions.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister. He received Knight of the Year in 1990 from the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree Knight for Council #719. Mr. Melstrom was a member of the American Legion Post #20 where he served as Sergeant of Arms. He was recognized by the Department of Social Services for volunteering to distribute food for the Disabled American Veterans. He visited the sick at homes and hospitals.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Deborah Griffin and Mrs. Tom (Barbara Jean) Yeager; four sons, Roger Melstrom, Mike Melstrom, John Melstrom and Billy Melstrom; nine grand-children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Father Richard Harris officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dan Biron, Kevin Schaffer, James Taylor, Jack Bartanus, Matthew Griffin and Scott Biron.
Honorary escort will be Members of American Legion Post #20 and the Knights of Columbus.
The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Friday evening. There will be a Rosary prayed at 6:30 and a Christian Wake service will begin at 7PM.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Building Fund, 110 E. Laurel Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29649 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Virginia ‘Dixie’ Winter
FRIPP ISLAND — Virginia “Dixie” Woodcock Winter, 82, wife of William E. Winter, passed away August 1, 2001, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hollidaysburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Marjorie Sprecher Woodcock. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort, a founding board member of the Boys and Girl’s Club of Beaufort and a former U.S. history teacher at the high school in Aiken. A founder of the Fripp Island Audubon Society, she regularly contributed information about birds to The Trawler, the Fripp Island newspaper.
Survivors include her husband of Fripp Island; two daughters, Elizabeth Crower of Midland, Mich., and Barbara Park of Greenwood; a son, William E. Winter Jr. of Gaffney; a brother, John Woodcock of Altoona, Pa.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 Saturday at the Fripp Island Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Fripp Island Community Center, 205 Tarpon Blvd., Fripp Island, S.C. 29920.

John Lewis Hall
GREENVILLE — John Lewis Hall, 67, of 7 Vesta Drive, passed away July 31, 2001.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Luther Brownlo Hall and Mattie Liner Hall. He was an Army veteran and retired textile worker, and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Bonnie Marie Scott of Greenville and Opal Hall Miller of Greenwood.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with burial in Coleman Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Cynthia Hannah
WARE SHOALS — Cynthia Rebecca Hannah, 90, formerly of 5 Lee St., passed away July 31, 2001, at Wesley Commons, Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late George Allen and Cynthia Ella Mundy Hannah. She was a seamstress and a member of Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Earline Jameson of Charleston and Mary Inez Boiter of Hickory Tavern.
Services will be conducted at 3 Thursday at Parker-White Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Wicker. Burial is in Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Donalds.
Pallbearers are Allen Boiter, Charles Floyd, David Hannah, Bill Jameson, Ford Verdery, Larry Tipper and Tyler Hannah.
Visitation is from 2-3 Thursday at the funeral home.
Family members are at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to Ware Shoals Presbyterian Church.

GREENWOOD — Emma Lou Johnson Hubbard, 70, of 103 Bellcourt, passed away July 31, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.

James Oliver Breazeale
PENDLETON — James Oliver “Red” Breazeale, 78, of 1010 Breazeale Road, husband of Ann Underwood Breazeale, passed away April 9, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in the Lebanon Community, he was a son of the late John Allen Breazeale Sr. and Alma Smith Breazeale. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and retired as a truck driver with Milliken Co. He was a member of Barnette Masonic Lodge and Lebanon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Thomas M. Breazeale of Greenwood; a sister, Alice B. Evans of Clemson; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 Wednesday in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown, Anderson.
Memorials may be made to Lebanon Baptist Church, 5150 Gentry Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

Gary Cribbs
GREENWOOD — Gary Hampton Cribbs, 26, of 113 Madison Street, passed away April 8, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital, of injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Penelope “Penny” Hawkins Cribbs and the late David Wilcox Cribbs. He graduated from Greenwood High School, attended Piedmont Technical College and was owner of Lifetime Exteriors. A member of Harris Baptist Church, he was also a member of the South Carolina Chapter of the National Home Builders Association.
Survivors include his mother of Greenwood; two brothers, twin brother, Stephen Martin Cribbs and David Russell Cribbs, both of Greenwood; maternal grandmother, Lois Ouzts Hawkins of Greenwood; and paternal grandmother, Mary Hawthorne Cribbs of Due West.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hal Lane officiating. Burial will be in Due West ARP Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Vernon Henderson, Eric Wells, Joey Brewster, Tom Luker, F. Wayne Ouzts and Kevin Hawkins.
Visitation is from 1-2 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home on Madison Street and at the home of his mother, Penelope “Penny” H. Cribbs, 7 Fox Hollow on Haltiwanger Road.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
