Lillian Y. Moore
LEXINGTON — Lillian Y. Moore, 58, of 1205 Two Notch Road, wife of John T. Moore, passed away Aug. 1, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of Rose Franklin and the late Moses Franklin. She worked at Moore’s Cleaning Service.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother; three daughters, Nancy C. Barron of Marietta, Ga., Sheilia Moore and Karen A. Moore, both of Lexington; a son, John T. Moore Jr. of Lexington; two sisters, Juanita Jenkins and Ruebenia Chamberlain; and five brothers, Edward Franklin, Roosevelt Franklin, Joe Franklin, Louis Franklin and Albert Franklin.
Services will be conducted at 2 Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Butler.
Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at Branch Chapel of Remembrance.
The family is at the home.

Allen T. ‘Al’ Morris
GREENWOOD — Allen Terrance “Al” Morris, 50, of 951 Sunset Drive, husband of Martelle “Marti” Taylor Morris, passed away Aug. 3, 2001, at his home.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Clara Hazel Amaker Moyer
SALUDA - Services for Clara Hazel Amaker Moyer, 86, of Saluda and Columbia, will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2001 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Saluda, SC. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Stone with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum in Columbia at approximately 5:00 PM.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM before the service at Ramey Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rhett Moyer, Hal Moyer, Mike Moyer, Curtis Hensley, Bill Hensley, and Curt Hensley Jr., Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Mason Hensley and Drew Moyer, and granddaughter Laura Moyer.
Memorials may be made to the Saluda County Nursing Center, P.O. Box 398, Saluda, South Carolina 29138. The family will gather at the home of Hal Moyer at 613 Bonham Road, Saluda.
Mrs. Moyer passed away at the SCNC on August 1, 2001. Born in Saluda County, September 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John B. (Bunk) and Clara Hazel Amaker.
She was a devoted wife and mother, enjoying her children and grandchildren.
During her life she was a former member of the Saluda Garden Club, president of the Rutledge Book Club in Lake City, SC, and a member of the Pilot International Club of Columbia. She was a member of North Trenholm Road Baptist Church in Columbia.
Mrs. Moyer was an exceptional florist, and worked at Shandon Greenhouses in Columbia before moving to Saluda to open her own business, the Saluda Flower Shop in 1947. In 1964, she served as House Director at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
Due to her continued support of her daughters career, Mrs. Moyer was honored as an honorary member of the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists in 1986.
Surviving are daughter, Betty J. Moyer, Columbia; and son and daughter-in-law, Russell Everett and Ethelyn Jones Moyer, Gilbert; sister, Onelia Amaker Cooper, Columbia; and brother and sister-in-law, J. B. and Nancy Amaker, Charleston. Grand-daughter and grandson-in-law, Vicky and Curtis Hensley, Greenwood; Grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Rhett and Sandy Moyer, Gilbert; Hal Moyer and Diane Miller, Saluda; and Mike and Dana Moyer, Gilbert.
Great-grandsons and spouses, Bill and Louisa Hensley, Rhode Island and Spain; Curt and Tonya Hensley, Greenwood; Mason Hensley, Greenwood; Drew Moyer, Gilbert. Great-granddaughter and mother, Laura Moyer and Tricia Moyer, Gilbert. Great-great-grandchildren, Guillermo Hensley and Alba Maria Hensley, Spain; and Tripp Hensley, Greenwood. She was pre-deceased by husband Russell E. Moyer Sr.; and sister, Sybil A. Ward.

Mary Powell
ABBEVILLE - Mary Elizabeth Madden Powell, 88, of 183 Highway 20, wife of Otis Lee Powell, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2001 at her home.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late John Patrick and Agnes Elizabeth Cooley Madden.
She was a homemaker and member of Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her husband of the home; four children, Johnny Powell of Lexington, Wayne Powell and Diane Powell, both of Taylors and Elizabeth Spires and son-in-law Otis of Chapin; two grandchildren, Rina Spires McDonald of Holly Hill and Michael Wayne Spires of Columbia; one great-granddaughter, Payton Elizabeth Spires; one brother, Joe Robert Madden of Ware Shoals and one sister, Claude Alewine of Tyler, Texas .
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday from the Chandler Memorial Chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Massey officiating.
Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
The body is at Harris Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. Friday.
Memorials may be made to Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 109 Barnett St., Abbeville, S.C. 29620 or to Hospice Of The Piedmont, 408 Alexander St., Greenwood, S.C. 29646. The family is at the home.

Carrye Mae Ross
GREENWOOD — Carrye Mae Ross, of 518 Marion Ave., passed away last night at Laurens County Hospital. The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Willie S. Sanders Jr.
UNION — Willie Simpson Sanders Jr., 81, of 115 Pleasant View Drive, husband of Opal Mitchell Sanders, passed away Aug. 2, 2001, at the home of a daughter in Spartanburg.
Born in Union, he was a son of the late Willie Simpson Sanders Sr. and Ellen Palmer Sanders. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the Men’s Club, Bethel United Methodist Seniors, “BUMS,” Union County Senior Citizens and the Hardee Bunch. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from Saco-Lowell Co., Easley, after 25 years of service.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Willa S.) LeBron of Spartanburg and Mrs. Donnie (Alice S.) Hooper of Union; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Sanders Ivey of Taylors.
Services will be conducted at 3 Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church by the Revs. Don Alexander, Angelia Price and Wesley Farr.
Burial is in Union Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is at the church from 7-9 tonight.
The family is at the home of a granddaughter, Heather and Jeff Crawford, 633 Kelly Road.

GREENWOOD — Irwin Lloyd McGrath, 87, of 101 Brissie Ave., husband of Odell McManus McGrath, passed away Aug. 31, 2001, at his home.

Annie Harrison
GREENWOOD — Annie Harrison, 67, of 704 Pearl St., wife of John Bennie Harrison, passed away Aug. 30, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Ryans Sr. and Essie Senior Ryans.
She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bennie A. Harrison of Hephzibah, Ga., and Derrick A. Harrison of Greenwood; a daughter, Carolyn Glover of Roanoke, Va.; three brothers, Willie Ryans of Asheville, N.C., Larry Ryans of Greenwood and Thomas Ryans of Washington , D.C.; a sister, Letha Day of Oxen Hill, Md.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Claude Duane Berry
SALUDA — Claude Duane Berry, 77, husband of Elizabeth Garrett Berry, passed away Aug. 2, 2001.
Born in Saluda, he was a son of the late Claude L. and Keturah Berry. He was a member of Richland Springs Baptist Church, a World War II veteran and a member of American Legion Post 65 and the Cattleman’s Association.
Survivors include his wife of Saluda; a son, Michael Duane Berry of Saluda; a sister, Frances Feaster of Saluda; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 today at Richland Springs Baptist Church, with burial in Saluda Memorial Gardens.
Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.

Mamie Childs
GREENWOOD — Mamie ‘Tit’ Childs, 75, of 208 Wesley Commons, formerly of 919 Taggart St., passed away Aug. 4, 2001.
Born in McCormick County, she was the daughter of the late Lannie Childs and Mattie Drennon Childs Belcher. She was a member of Glovers Chapel Baptist Church and Women’s Aid Society No. 77.
Survivors include a son, James W. Childs of Greenwood; a daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Mildred) Thomas of Greenwood; a stepsister, Lizzie Belcher of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Elder & Mrs. Andrew Thomas, 919 Taggart St.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Mamie Childs
GREENWOOD — Services for Mamie “Tit” Childs, of 208 Wesley Commons, will be conducted at 3 Wednesday at Glovers Chapel Baptist Church in McCormick County by the Rev. M. L. Taylor, assisted by the Rev. Amanda E. Drennon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Keith Harrison, James Thomas, Carlos Dean, Henry Drennon, George Drennon, and Roosevelt Durant.
Flower bearers are Ella Mae Durant, Tammy Childs, Belinda Childs, Lucretia Mance, Mary Anne Childs, and Donna Coats.
Honorary escorts are the Women’s Aid Society No. 77.
Additional survivors include two stepsisters, Maggie Cantlowof of Columbia and Effie Foster of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one stepbrother, Charlie Belcher Jr. of Winston-Salem.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Elder and Mrs. Andrew Thomas of 919 Taggart St.

George E. Culbreath
SALUDA — George E. Culbreath, 55, of 134 S. Bouknight Ferry Road, passed away Aug. 5, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Georgia T. Culbreath and John B. Lott.
He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his aunt and caretaker of the home, Fannie Tucker; two brothers, John Lott Jr. and Ernest Lott, both of Saluda; and two sisters, Lillie M. Tolbert and Ida Bosket, both of Saluda.
Services will be conducted at 1 Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Rev. Calvin Robinson. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home.
