GREENWOOD — Sara Elise McGee Brooks, 71, of 210 McKee Drive, wife of Horace E. Brooks, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Will Ben and Nora Harrelson McGee. She retired from Monsanto and was a member of South Greenwood Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Lessia B. Crosby of Charleston; a son, Jerry Craig Brooks of Hodges; Cory Dodgen and Nora Schumpert, who were reared in the home; a stepbrother, Joe Dodgen of Greenwood; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Friday at South Greenwood Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Milton Hannah and the Rev. Martin DeYoung. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Mike Brooks, Jerry Craig Brooks Jr., Ed Crosby, Curtis Crosby, Gary Brown and Charlton Moore.
Honorary escorts are members of Sister Clara Mae Wells Sunday School Class of the church.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home. The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to South Greenwood Church of God.

Charlie Clark

JOHNSTON — Charlie O. Clark, 94, husband of Lillian Morris Clark, passed away Feb. 6, 2001, at Edgefield County Hospital.
Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Jesse Cleve and Hettie Bruce Clark. He was a retired farmer and a member of Philippi Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Orin Clark of Johnston; a daughter, Carol Rhoden of Johnston; two brothers, Bruce Clark of Johnston and Jack Clark of Columbia; a sister, Lois Jones of North Augusta; three step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bland Funeral Home, with burial in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Bland Funeral Home is in charge.

Ed Coleman

GREENWOOD — Joseph Edward “Ed” Coleman, 84, of 1000 Old Abbeville Highway, husband of Sammie Gambrell Coleman, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at his home.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home from 7-9 Friday. The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Trudie Mae Ginn

GREENWOOD — Trudie Mae Bartley Ginn, 80, of 1214 Highway 246 South, widow of Walter W. Ginn, passed away June 14, 2000.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Pervis Wesley and Bernice Kirkland Bartley. She was formerly employed by Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, retired from McGraw-Edison and worked with the Piedmont Agency on Aging. She was a member of South Greenwood Church of God and Sunday School Class No. 13.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Ann Sudduth of Callison; a son, Wilbur Ginn of Greenwood; a sister, Janie Lou Hair of Saluda; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at South Greenwood Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Milton Hannah and the Rev. Charles Brown. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The casket will be placed in the church at 10.
Pallbearers are Bobby Hair, Wilford Hair, Johnny Hair, Kenneth Elmore, Bobby Fisher, Joey Hough and Stanley Robinson.
Honorary escorts are members of Sunday School Class No. 13 of the church.
Visitation is from 7-9 Friday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Betty Ann Sudduth, 418 Wrenn Road.

Adelaide Jackson

BENNETTSVILLE — Adelaide Philson Jackson, 86, widow of John Murchison Jackson Jr., passed away June 13, 2000.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Robert Chancey and Addie Horton Philson. She graduated from Abbeville High School, attended Winthrop University and received a bachelor of arts degree in social work from the University of South Carolina in 1935. She was a member of Phi Beta Phi Sorority. She was associated with the State Welfare Department in Bennettsville, served as director for the Travelers Aid Society in Columbia and then returned to Bennettsville. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, and a member of the 20th Century Club, the Bennettsville Garden Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include a son, John M. Jackson III of Bennettsville; a daughter, Rebecca Jackson Graves of Luray, Va.; a sister, Jo Capers of Darlington; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with burial in McCall Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Jackson Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 306 Fayetteville Ave., Bennettsville, S.C. 29512.

Reba S. Shumaker

GREENWOOD — Reba Stamm Shumaker, 93, of 1110 Marshall Road, widow of the Rev. Ralph Baxter Shumaker, passed away June 13, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Danville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Annie M. Cromis Stamm. She was a graduate of Bloomsburg State Teachers College, Bloomsburg, Pa., and Catawba College, Salisbury, N.C. She was a teacher and served many appointments with her husband, a retired United Methodist minister with the Western North Carolina and the South Carolina conferences. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood, and was involved with the United Methodist Women and Methodist Youth Fellowship on the conference and jurisdictional levels.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph B. Shumaker Jr. of Greenville, N.C., and Ronald A. Shumaker of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Larry Jenkins and the Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray. Entombment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Greenville, S.C.
Pallbearers are John Williams, Madison Breland, Robert Reynolds, Louis Adams, Walter Koth and Ted Morton.
Visitation is from 10-11 Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Able

LAURENS — Mary Elizabeth Kinard Able, 39, of 501 Woodland Way, wife of Bryan Christopher Able, passed away June 15, 2000, at her home.
Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of David Ralph Kinard and the late Vera Elizabeth Kinard Kinard. She received a bachelor of science degree in education from Lander College in 1982 and a master’s in education from the University of South Carolina in 1987. She taught school for 15 years in Newberry, Greenwood, Lexington and Laurens counties. She received the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching in 1997 and was recognized as Laurens Primary School Teacher of the Year for 1997-98. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Laurens.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Edward Bryan Able, and a daughter, Elizabeth Caroline Able, both of the home; her father of Newberry; and a brother, Steve E. Kinard of Newberry.
Services will be at 2 Monday at First United Methodist Church of Laurens, with burial in Westview Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 7-9 Sunday at Gray Funeral Home.

GREENWOOD — Thelma Brown Brown, 81, widow of Henry E. Brown, passed away June 16, 2000, at Magnolia Manor.

Jean Harrison

GREENWOOD — Jean Julian Harrison, 69, of 2608 Montague Ave. Extension, passed away June 16, 2000, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Mamie Sue Reeves Julian. She received a master’s degree in childhood education from Clemson College and retired from the Greenwood public school system as a fifth-grade teacher at East End Elementary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a member and assistant teacher of the Shacharian Sunday School Class and a member of the Alma Johnson Group and the Congregational Life Committee.
Survivors include a son, Christopher E. Hosmer of Greer; a sister, Georgie J. Dickerson of Pacolet; a brother, George W. “Bud” Julian III of Brevard, N.C.; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. J. William Harris. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Horace Files, Sonny Hines, Bill Dickerson, Jeff Dickerson, Dan Dickerson, Andy Dickerson, Scott Dickerson, Michael Cole and Andy White.
Visitation is from 2-3 Sunday in the church parlor.

ABBEVILLE — Estella “Stella” Langley Jones, 92, of 100 Parker St., passed away June 16, 2000, at the home of a niece, Jean Corley of Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Annie Ellis Langley. She was the widow of Wideman Steifle and R. Bright Jones. She was a retired employee of D. Poliakoff Store and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church of Abbeville.
Survivors include three sisters, Lois Anderson, Frances Duvall and Erma Perrone, all of Greenwood.
Services will be at 4 Sunday at Main Street United Methodist Church of Abbeville, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Pickens. Burial will be in Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery, Greenwood.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at the home the home of a niece, Mrs. Owen (Jean) Corley, 1515 McCormick Highway, Greenwood.
