GREENWOOD — Robert Wright Kelly, 84, of 128 Lawton St., husband of Bess Dipner Kelly, passed away June 16, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Goldsboro, N.C., he was a son of the late Major and Lucindy Rollins Kelly, He was a retired construction supervisor and a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Al (Ann) Kuehn of Kirksey, Mrs. Ian (Susan) MacIlwaith of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Mrs. Ted (Pat) Langley of Greenwood; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by Dr. Steven Todd.

Ernest J. Lomax
GREENWOOD — Ernest Jefferson Lomax, 84, of 1007 Ninety Six Highway, widower of Sarah Frances Collins Lomax, passed away June 16, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cornelia, Ga., he was a son of the late Bailey Lomax and Clarkie Hardy Shedd. He was a retiree of Grendel Mill and the owner of Lomax Upholstery. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Cornelia.
Survivors include seven daughters, Virginia Clary, Faye Horne, Joyce Horne, Nine Turner and Rachel Massey, all of Greenwood, Linda Ellison of Gaston and Genetta Cannedy of Hampton, Ga.; four sons, Raymond Lomax and Donald Lomax, both of Greenwood, James Lomax of Iva and Dennis Lomax of Pelzer; 30 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Milton Stubblefield, Joseph Ouzts and Joe Chapman. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are grandsons.
Honorary escorts are Harold Fowler, Burl Davis, Ray Cogdill, Marion Elrod, Junior Lomax and Neil Lomax.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

TROY — Services for Grady “Preacher” Palmore Jr., of Route 1, Box 171-A, will be at 2 Monday at Bailey Bethel AME Church, conducted by the Rev. John W. Paul. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are nephews and nieces.

GREENWOOD — Pearl Woods Smith, 94, formerly of Spartanburg, widow of Vernon Leroy Smith, passed away June 16, 2000, at Edgefield Health Care Center.
Born in Sibley, Ga., she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Rosa Holliday Woods. She was a member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, Monroe, N.C.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Johnny (Vernell) Humphries of Greenwood; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Private services were held.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Vernell Humphries, 109 Welborn Lane, Callison Estates.

John Witt
HONEA PATH — John Whitt, 67, of 396 Mt. Creek Road, husband of Faye McKinney Whitt, passed away June 16, 2000, at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of John T. and Janie Medlock Whit. He was a retired superintendent of shipping with Winn Dixie Bakery, Jacksonville, Fla., and a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents and wife of the home; a son, Scott Whitt of Jacksonville, Fla.; four brothers, Richard Whitt of Anderson and Russell Whitt, Wayne Whitt and Larry Whitt, all of Honea Path; four sisters, Vera P. Jeanes and Shelbie Seawright, both of Honea Path, Edna Robbins of Mauldin and Cynthia Barr of Greer; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Columbia Baptist Church, Princeton, conducted by the Revs. Mark Chapman, John Lockaby and Daryl Thompson. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Wesley Johnson, Terry Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Sammy Posey, Douglas Whitt and Clay Miller.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men’s Sunday School Class.

Born in Clinton, he was a son of Bobbie Jennings Smaltz and Ralph Young Bagwell. He was an employee of Fuji.
Survivors include his mother of Joanna; his father of Georgia; a sister, Mrs. Mike (Debra) Huckaby of Kinards; and two brothers, Jerry Bagwell and Ricky Bagwell, both of Joanna.
Memorials services will be at 6 today at the home of his mother, Whitmire Highway, Hayes Trailer Park, Joanna.

GREENWOOD — Charles William Brooks, 83, of 115 Marshall Circle, husband of Mildred Lucille Cannon Brooks, passed away June 18, 2000, at his home.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Eddie and Zora Crawford Brooks. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club, and also retired as a security guard at Fuji and Kemet. He was a member of New Market Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Sylvia Grubb of West Columbia and Miriam Willis of New Bern, N.C.; two sons, David E. Brooks of Greenwood and Fred C. Brooks of Columbia; two sisters, Lillian B. Hamilton of Greenwood and Edna Dill of Simpsonville; a brother, Henry Brooks of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Buddy Wiles. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Oliver and Ethel Mae Ferquson Childers. He was an employee of CSX Railroad, a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, a Hejaz Shriner and a member of Mathews Lodge 358 AFM and Mathews United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Nancy Barber of Georgetown, Texas .
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Nellie Cloninger and the Rev. John Hipp.

LAURENS — Ada Delphia Long Cox, 93, formerly of 28 Copeland St., passed away June 17, 2000, at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late W.T. and Effie Mae Cobb Long. She was a retiree of Laurens Mill and a member of Laurens Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Hershel E. Cox of Westminster, James Harold Cox of Liberty and John E. Cox Sr. of Mountville; two daughters, Lois C. Crowe of Laurens and Wyline C. Cooke of North Augusta; a sister, Odessa Cain of Wattsville; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Laurens Second Baptist Church, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
